I am writing this review to bring an on-site management issue to the attention of WeEat Hospitality Group corporate leadership. Attempts to reach corporate through their listed executive emails bounced back as undeliverable. On June 21 around 2pm, I experienced highly unacceptable and unprofessional behavior from on-site managers, Meghan & Javier. Upon arrival, I was referred to the bar area where a member of staff took my to-go order which consisted of an appetizer and two desserts (slices of cake ) from your menu. Five minutes after placing my order, the young lady returned and said she was informed that the restaurant, despite having it on the menu presented to me, no longer offers cake slices to go, but if I dined in, I would be able to order the cake. I asked to speak with the manager. "Meghan" approached and said that, despite the false advertising on the menu, we could not order the normal size cake to go but a smaller version was available. When asked to see the menu reflecting said portion and pricing, it was not available. I then asked if there was someone else who could help. After waiting 10 minutes, manager "Javier" approached, not introducing himself, and spoke with an aura of disrespect, simply stating that it isn't necessary for the restaurant to advertise the smaller cake slice or price, and the only way we would be able to order is if we were to dine-in. When I offered for myself and my daughter to dine in at the bar with the order we originally placed to go (baked goat cheese with extra crostini, chocolate cake and carrot cake), we were told that was insufficient and that a "full tab" would be needed. In all of my dining experience, I have never been treated with such contempt, especially from management. Instead of working to resolve a standard issue or offering some sort of solution , the manager simply walked away without any resolve. This behavior is completely out of line with standard hospitality practices. I have submitted a formal report through WeEat website intake form on June 30 and am waiting for a prompt response from a regional director or HR representative to resolve this matter. I hope that in the future you will address these issues and improve the service at Goat and Vine as treating patrons on this level should not be taken lightly. read more

A beautiful and quaint restaurant with delicious (massive) portions and wonderful staff. I came in without a reservation, and was greeted by the friendly host who was kind enough to seat me by the window. I was debating between the Soy Salmon Salad and the Crispy Cod and my sweet waitress Melissa said the cod is delicious and she was not wrong! I started eating before realizing I forgot to take a picture, hence the half eaten cod. It comes with both crispy Brussels sprouts and roasted potatoes with a delicious side of homemade tartar sauce. Dinner the night before Valentine's Day to avoid the crowds. We like this place because it's got that right warm, low light Mediterranean rustic feel. The food was delicious. Rigatoni Boscaiola was full of flavor. And the Sinful Chocolate Cake (for 2) is ridonkulous! It would feed 6 and you might still have leftovers. Faith made good recommendations and took good care of us. The bar was busy/slow on a busy weekend, but they made up for it on our tab. And we brought a lot of food home to eat off for days. My husband and I went to the resturant on mother's day with a 12:30pm reservation. Happy we had the reservation as it was extremely busy. We waited a short while until we were seated and water brought to the table. As we looked at the menu, our waitress brought over some warm bread. Which im happy she did. We put our order in if an appetizer and two entrees. My husbads side salad with his meal came out before our appetizer, which then came out nearly 45 minutes later. We ended up getting out food almost an hour later. Our waitress did apologize about the wait time. I ordered their pasta and they were sold out of the take a traditional one home I was told afterwards when we inquired about it when the food came to the table. Over all the food was good. Came here a year ago and was unimpressed, decided to give another try this week. Still incredibly average. $27 chicken marasala was a very large portion, could feed 4, but painfully bland. Boiled, seasonless chicken. Barely any mushrooms which is the point of this dish. And the sauce was way too sweet. Disappointing because this is a cute place with a lot of potential but until you're 60 years old with no taste buds you will be disappointed. Service was also incredibly slow for a random Tuesday with barely anyone in the restaurant. Came here on a whim after going to the Liv Golf event nearby and so happy we did! When we walked up, we got a huge whiff of garlic and honestly I'm a big garlic girly so I was so happy! The breadsticks came out super fast and kept coming. They were so flavorful and warm. Very good to snack on. They only had one kind of soup, Italian wedding soup. It's not my fave but it was filling. The portion sizes were huge!! Good price for the dishes so you basically get two dishes. My chicken parm was enough for two meals. It tasted like it should. The atmosphere and decor in this place looked really cute. They have a huge wine list and even option to become a member. We were out celebrating my husbands birthday and first time here. Let me tell you, food comes in really large portions especially the entrees so totally worth sharing instead of getting your own dish individually. Wish we were told that. We had lots of leftovers as we got the stuffed mushrooms and free bread appetizer. Our entrees came with soup or salad which we got the salad itself. Once the entrees came I was practically full. Checked out Goat and Vine while staying at a nearby hotel. Cozy atmosphere and they were quite busy. I love when an Italian/american restaurant offers bread service (all should). The bread was seasoned, hot, soft, and delicious. Caesar salad also very good although I would have enjoyed a little more dressing. The Chicken Parm was definitely disappointing. The breading and preparation was much less than I expected from them and more in line that you would find at a fast food establishment. The pasta and the red sauce were both very very good. Visited for a dinner for 7, a full vegetarian party. The service and quality of food was amazing and we felt valued as a customer. The shift manager and the server were attentive and actively helped us decide the amount of food and types of dishes to bring variety to the table. This was my second visit to Goat & Vine. I'm not much of a drinker and I wasn't disappointed coming here. I tried a glass of the sparkling rosé and my bestie and I started with the fresh baked bread which was still warm when it got to our table. The staff was kind and friendly throughout our entire visit. Another great thing about dining here is the BOGO pasta dishes! We made reservations for 9 people to celebrate my elderly father-in-law's 80th birthday. Family drove from Wisconsin for this, and the man on the phone (Juan Martinez) was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from the very start. When we arrived to an empty restaurant, he cut us off mid-sentence, announced our reservation was canceled, offered no apology, no explanation, and zero attempt to fix anything. They didn't have the decency to inform us that our reservation was canceled prior to our arrival . We found out when we arrived. After moving to Bolingbrook a year ago, this was my first time trying this restaurant. Much larger than I expected and really nice inside. Had an early reservation on a Friday night and glad we did as it was filling up. Took advantage of their pasta deal and ordered the short rib bolognese and get a pasta to take home for free. A smaller version of one of their traditional pastas, but anxious to try their eggplant Parmesan. The food was tasty and a good sized portion. At $36 a bit hefty in price, but all restaurants are charging more these days. But I will say it was good not great. I would love to see at least some mushrooms added, and I'll personally add some red pepper flakes to kick it up a notch. Our only complaint was our waitress who seemed annoyed from the beginning and possibly misinformed. She had said all of the pastas are gluten-free when one of my friends asked for a gluten-free menu. She gave her a gluten friendly menu, but then went on to say all the pastas were gluten-free, which I highly doubt. Not very responsive with us having to ask for more water and didn't offer dessert until we asked, not bothering to explain them so we were surprised when we saw the hefty price of $30. I had a mostly great experience at Goat & Vine Restaurant. When we first walked in, there were three people at the host stand having a conversation. We weren't acknowledged right away, and it was a bit bizarre to be standing there unnoticed until I mentioned it. From there, the experience really turned around thanks to our server, Alina. She was incredibly sweet and welcoming. She mentioned she was new which made her service even more impressive. She did a fantastic job checking in on us and making sure everything was right. You can tell she's very genuine. For food, we ordered the bruschetta, grandma's meatballs, and tried a few spritz drinks. The portions were generous, which I always appreciate. The bruschetta was excellent. The bread had the perfect crisp without being too hard, and the tomatoes and burrata tasted fresh and flavorful. The meatballs were tasty as well, however they were kind of cold when they came out. The polenta had a nice crisp on the outside. Overall, a really enjoyable meal with good service. My main reason for giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is from the initial impression when we walked in without being acknowledged. Also I would've liked the meatballs to be hotter. We've been before and they have really good food and drinks. Went today around 3 pm and they had half of the restaurant rented out for a party, which I completely understand. So they were only seating in the bar, which again, is okay. The problem is that we were the only ones waiting for a table and they couldn't tell us how long it would be. Was it going to be 5 minutes? Booked our 15th anniversary dinner with you for last night and included close family. Megan could not have been nicer after we were seated and was very good with guiding our menu choices. Full disclosure, front of the house was not good in attempting to shove us into a close, uncomfortable corner when we arrived for our reservation as there was no one in the restaurant at 5:30pm. Nevertheless, we were pleased with drinks and appetizers including Rose Spritz, Peach Moscato and the Frito Misto and Bruschetta. On to the mains, Short Ribs, Vesuvio, Marsala and Madeira were all well received (and the portions are huge!). We all enjoyed our meals. When Megan asked us about dessert we had just taken our last bite and didn't commit. Unfortunately, the restaurant made no recognition of our anniversary (which I'd made note of on OpenTable). My wife made me very aware of this when we got in the car on the way home. I also had to call Megan back over before we left the restaurant to obtain my loyalty rewards as they did not automatically pick this check up. She did take care of it for me. Lots of good things here, but I would ask for a bit more attention to detail for the little things as we have a lot of choices where to spend our dining dollars. read more

Second visit... Had a reservation at 1:30 PM on Mother's Day. When we arrived the lobby was full of people waiting. We checked in and we weren't seated until 2:10 PM. It was clear that they were having issues in the kitchen as we sat and watched the hostess and manager go in and out of the kitchen several times shaking their heads on the way out. Once we were seated we saw empty tables setup but with no one being seated so we made the assumption they were also short staffed. Once we were seated we were rushed to order food before we ordered drinks. We asked to order drinks first with an appetizer. We were pushed to order our entrees at the same time. We were told they were not doing the take home pasta with a pasta order because it was Mother's Day. We were told they were out of Lasagna. We heard them tell other tables other items were not available too. It was 3:00 PM on Mother's Day and they were out of major items. We finished our food and asked to order dessert. We were told they were out of tiramisu. We asked to order one piiece of chocolate cake to go. We were told there was no carryout orders because it was Mother's Day!? Huh? So, we ordered the chocolate cake, took a bite, asked for a box and packaged it ourselves and took it home. We only saw our server for ordering, food delivery and the check. Never checked in with us any other time. We will definitely avoid going here again for any occasion that we want to enjoy. read more

I'd received an e-mail with an alluring coupon, which was used on a good bottle of pinot noir. Entrees were good-my jambalaya was a stew variety of the dish, but the shrimp, andouille and chicken were just the right mix and flavors were ideal-medium plus spice and fresh vegetable roux. Shotr Rib entree was tasty as well-meat cooked perfectly and sauces were good. We ordered the Macamia Pie for dessert-keep in mind their desserts are huge-you can preview them in the under counter display in the main wine area. First things first: This has got to be the absolutely WORST name for a restaurant I have ever heard. Maybe if this was a mideastern joint in a predominantly mideastern neighborhood where they actually EAT goat (and plenty of it), I could understand. But this is an upscale ITALIAN resto/winery! What, was "Vinnie's", "Joey's", or "Vito's" taken? To add a bit more to my screed, there is no hint of "Goat" anywhere on the menu. (Goat CHEESE makes an appearance, but that doesnt count). I happen to like Goat, but I've never seen such a protein on ANY Italian joint I've ever been in. I'd really like to know how they came up with this moniker. Gripe #2: If you look at some of the 1 and 2 star Yelps here, you'll see most mention that the staff isn't prompt at removing used dishes. We had 7 in our party, and the table real estate became congested long before the entrees hit it. There was a lot of dishware Jenga being played, and it was a bit annoying. It wasn't due to our waitress not paying attention-she was actually a good waitress; this is contrary to the Yelps claiming poor service, unless they were addressing the removal issue. Sometimes bus-sers in restos are a bit enthusiastic sweeping away the disjecta membra. This is the opposite of that problem. If G&V's management reads this Yelp--here is your #1 opportunity area. Past that... It's a beautiful series of rooms; elegant, yet inviting. A thoroughly nice vibe throughout. Our group was there for fun, and there was a large surprise party in the next tables over. At the same time I observed a couple having a nice date, and they looked like they were having a good time. The rooms have charisma. Complimentary Garlic Bread is tasty, and delish with the augmented Olive Oil. Didn't partake of any Alcohol on this trip, but most of the tables had cocktails or wine. I did have a refreshing Arnold Palmer. The menu is appetizing, and I had to hold back from over-ordering; there were a number of things I wanted to try. I've been on a soup jag lately, and a bowl of Crab Bisque was my choice. I order seafood bisques regularly, and this one was tip-top. I was a bit put off that our entrees arrived before I had the chance to finish the excellent Bisque. Had to push the bowl aside and add to the traffic jam already in place on our table. The entrees looked yummy, and the others in our party jumped at them--they were all happy with their choices. I swung with a Skirt Steak Salad. I et the steak, and enough rabbit food to satiate my hunger and there was enough remaining to take home for runch tomorrow. Mini-gripe #3:: The steak was bias-cut atop the greens; but wasn't cut all the way through. A hefty steak knife was provided, but it was hard to cut the steak into manageable bites. The cluttered table didn't help the matter-I wanted to put the steak on my bread plate, but there wasn't room. If the flavor quality of the dish wasn't at its high level, this would be a quite different Yelp. All the entrees were "abbondanza"; very generous portions. The waitress brought containers and shopping bags for everyone, but... It was difficult transferring the leftovers into the containers 'cos there were too many empty plates on the table. AAAAaaargh! The waitress didn't ask if we wanted coffee, dessert or aperitif; just dropping the checks. As we were going to sit there for awhile longer, I waited till all the transactions were finished, then asked for Coffee. The brew smelled and tasted a bit long in the tooth, just on the edge, but ultimately drinkable. I didn't ask for a second cup. I don't want it to sound like I didn't like this place. I liked it a bunch. The food was quite delicious, the service basically fine and the surroundings most pleasant. There are just a few bugaboos separating this place from being a solid 5-star resto. 4 stars for the Bread and Circuses. If there was a rating for the "mechanicals" it would have been a "1". Epilog: I had a short/casual business minute with a few of the fellows in the outer lobby, and saw some fabulous cakes in the counter. I thought I'd like to take a piece home. I was directed to the bar to place this order. I got to the attractive bar, and damned if there wasn't the leavings of a dinner lying there. Again, with the "not picking stuff up". I stood there for awhile and was ignored by the 2 gents behind the bar. One fellow deep in conversation with a couple at the far end, and the other doing busy work directly in front of me. It wasn't until the gal who directed me INTO the bar to place my order came in and poked the busywork guy to tell him to take care of me. I was given a choice of a large piece of cake for $26 or a small piece for $14. A bit dear for cake. But the cake really looked tasty-I rolled with the small. The "Large" was REALLY Large. read more
