Shout out to the best Jamaican/Caribbean restaurant in Chicago, for Oxtails!!!! I had the absolute pleasure of patronizing this restaurant 2 days ago. I ordered an Oxtail dinner with Cabbage, and Plantains. OMG!!!! The meat was literally falling off the bones!!!! TENDERNISM!!!! The Cabbage was tasty & seasoned (most Jamaican/Caribbean restaurants don't "normally" season the veggies well - from my experience), and the Plantains were soft and sweet - just how I like them! The rice, that comes with the Oxtails, had the most tasty Au jus from the Oxtails. OMG!!!!!! And the portion was AMAAAAZING!!!!! I had visited 2 other Jamaican/Caribbean restaurants prior to this one, and was severely disappointed! I am what you would call, an "Oxtail Connoisseur," and every state that I visit, I try the restaurants that are considered to have "The Best Oxtails." Well, I have found the best, and I refuse to try the rest! I am here in Chicago for another 2 weeks, and I will be ordering from JH's Jerk Grill a few more times, including today! Came here on a Sunday while visiting. The ambiance is casual, good music playing but with limited inside seating. Service was good as I was greeted upon entry. I will say I'd recommend ordering ahead if you don't want to wait too long. Appreciate the food being made to order thoug Now for the food! Jerk tips 8/10: nice a tender and decent portion size. Great flavor and I didn't even need the sauce but the sauce was a nice to have if you need it. Jerk egg roll 6/10: nice size egg roll full of chicken but the chicken was a little dry for my taste. What a Jerk Grill Restaurant in Hillside. I now don't have to drive all the way out South just for some jerk chicken. The Vibes and music makes you feel like your on a Caribbean Island. I ordered the 1/2 white jerk meal 2 sides rice and cabbage. They sold out of the Mac and Cheese. I had to wait awhile for my ordered to be called. They had so may Uber Eat orders. I was going to check my order before I left. But it was sealed up with plastic wrapped and smelled so good. My container was hot and heavy. They give you a nice size portion for your money. My chicken was so juicy and moist. I had the sauce added on the side. It's a bit too spicy for me. Definitely a spot I will be coming back to. FYI. Service was good. Not as long as a wait as they told us it would be. The dining area is casual and small but very clean. It's a decent ambiance, colorful , not a lot of things to look besides your standard regular ads. The food did not blow me away . It wasn't so bad that I wouldn't give it a second chance because I do want to support local. My hope is that what I ordered is not how they usually serve it. I ordered three wings with yams. Yams could've been hotter as well as have a little more seasoning to them, but they were OK. My disappointment came in the chicken wings. The wings had a good taste to them, but that is only based on the small part of them I could actually eat. They were small, dry, and burnt really. I wouldn't really call this authentic jerk. It was very jerk like. My husband did say that his half chicken mixed was good so that's promising. Mac & cheese was good rice and peas with moist and flavorful and the jerk catfish and decent as well it was not dry. Overall, like I said they weren't so bad that I wouldn't give them a second try I'm all about supporting locals, so I definitely will give them a second try but my hope is that they kind of ease up over cooking chicken, especially the wings. 1st time customer from out of town. The chicken was the worst chicken I ever tasted. It was dry af, seem like it set up there for hours. Should of known it wasn't gone to be good when I was told it would be ready in 10mins. Then when I called to complain, I was told next time I come I would be offered a 10% off. It's not gonna be a next tf!!! Then just left me on hold for bout 25 mins and never came back. If your from out of town just bypass this shity place. Very clean and located in a nice area The service was great, however the 30min wait time left something to be desired. Excellent portions and the food was hot. Had the oxtails and they were excellent. Side order of yams(very good) and plantains(excellent). Don't know what they were cooked with but wow!! They were so good and sweet. This place just opened, I went in and they were very friendly. I tried calling before I went in to place my order ahead of time so I could just pick up, but they don't have a phone number on their website, so I had to go in and wait about 15 minutes for my food. I got the jerk chicken meal which comes with rice and two sides- I got yams and mac and cheese. Everything was tasty, the jerk seasoning wasn't too spicy but had a kick to it. I feel like they could've given me a little more yams and mac and cheese since it wasn't a cheap meal. There is a limited amount of seating, but enough for a small group, not large groups. I'm not sure words can express how much I enjoyed this food but I'll try . We had previously tried to go here last year but it was closed, so we were excited to finally get to try it. The place is small, Ample seating to wait for your food, and extremely clean. The woman who took our order was so nice. When she smiled I knew we were going to have some good food . My fiance got the oxtails, macncheese, and cabbage. The sides were craaaaazy good! Probably the best Mac I've had in a few years. The cabbage had crack in it . My parents shared the 1/2 jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage,mac. They loved it's all!! Chicken was so tender and flavorful. I got the curry chicken and yams. Which I can say was the star to me. The curry chicken was EXACTLY everything I wanted it to be and then some!! I had it for lunch the next day too and put it over some rice. Yum! The icing on the cake was actually a cake with no icing! They have a pound cake that really is next level!! We love this place and will definitely be back many times!!! read more

I saw sweet potato on menu as no ask if it was like canned yams she quickly responded "oh no". That was a lie, the sweet potatoes were actually canned potato's and disgusting. Fried plantains had black things which appears they fried plantains in same oil from chicken. The chicken rolls were super greasy. Awful food and will not be appreciated by any Caribbeans. read more

The food and customer service was amazing and the restaurant itself was very clean and in a convenient location.

The jerk oxtails were tender and delicious. They were large and some medium sized. The sides were sweet potatoes and Mac and Cheese. A cab service delivered my food. I will order oxtails again. read more

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. First of all my ribs were super hard, my Mac & cheese had an egg shell in it and lastly my cup of jerk sauce had a hair on the lid in the inside. It was late when I indulged in the food and the restaurant was closed as the phone went straight to voicemail. Discarded the food. Called back the next day (Today) and an employee answered the phone and educated me that a manager would call me back. When the manager called me back she asked me "did I still have the food and if I could bring it back"? I asked this lady did she expect me to keep food overnight and she literally told me "yes". Followed by "I believe you but I need the food to be returned or I need pictures". I personally was trying not to bash this business in which I didn't take pictures but I wish I would have at this point. This was handled very poorly and to be a new black owned business in the area I will never patronize them again. And neither should you!! Your money is worth way more customer service and appreciation. read more

Incredible! My family loved it. We had the Rasta pasta with shrimp.The pasta was creamy with a hint of spice and the shrimp was juicy and full of flavor. Fire food! I got the oxtail and it was so tender, first time trying it and I will get it again. Prices is honestly pretty cheap for a lot of jerk places. Service was amazing! She was so patient and was willing to help us through the menu. Very chill place, loved the music selection and I loved the color scheme. Overall solid jerk place! read more

Gave this place 1 star because I placed my order on a Sunday evening 1hour before closing. Waited 45 mins then I was told they are out of jerk chicken along with other customer. Talked to owner who said they only prepare x amount of jerk chicken per day. I understand that no need to waste food at the end of day, but you could have said something 45 mins ago.
