I was in the Plainfield, IL area for business and came across Capri Sogno, which turned out to be a GREAT find! Cold and rainy night that screamed comfort food and their linguine and clams hit the mark. I started with the obligatory Caesar salad, which was great, followed by the pasta and it was perfect. I did make one modification...I like a spicy red sauce so I subbed that over the traditional white wine sauce and it was awesome. Didn't have a drink but sat at the bar as I was dining alone and chatted with the bartender who was great, and I have to give a shout out to the server who stopped by and put the idea of the spicy red sauce in my head. I was so impressed with the taste of the food that I actually called them to compliment the chef for me! Me and my wife have been coming here since we moved to Plainfield in 2018 and it has never disappointed. Today we came for our 9th wedding anniversary and did not make an appointment we said we would wait the 20 minutes because we love the food so much. While we waited we talked with the host who ended up being the owner and chef. We explained that it was our anniversary and that we love the food at Capri. He said he would do his best to get us seated ASAP and we thanked him. Two minutes later he treated us to 2 glasses of complimentary wine while we waited and shared some of the history about the restaurant. We were seated in shorter than expected wait and were waited on by very friendly and attentive staff. We had the bra joule for an appetizer and it was the best we have ever tasted. My lamb was everything I could ask for and my wife's chicken vessuzio as always tasted like heaven. Went here for the first time and had a party of 6. We had a wonderful meal & experience! Truly remarkable service from Vincent! We had the minestrone soup which was very good! Very light...a tad bland but nothing a little Parmesan cheese couldn't remedy. Tried Capri Sogno on a whim to try something new!! Best decision ever!! Atmosphere is cozy, intimate, sophisticated- beautiful classic huge bar downstairs. Service was thoughtful, friendly, attentive. The food was amazing-"the best lasagna and vodka sauce I've ever had" said my husband who has had more lasagna than any one person should ever have! The handmade pasta was super thick and delicious. Caesar salad tasted more like a creamy Italian dressing. The breading on the calamari was so flavorful and crisp. The calamari meat parts were on the thin side so the crispy breading made up for it. There was a wait for a table on the main floor but we got full service at the bar upstairs. We moved to Plainfield 4 years ago. Every time we drive through town we say we have to try Capri. FINALLY, we tried it tonight with our friends. First visit for all of us. I LOVED the atmosphere in the restaurant and more importantly the not only had drambuie at the bar, the bartender made an excellent rusty nail, my husband's favorite cocktail. The owner put his hand on me and then I shoved him told him not to touch me and he proceeds to call the police. We had to sign a notice of trespassing warning they actually called the police on us! We were blown away by our dining experience at Capri! My husband and I went out to eat last weekend and the experience was as memorable because of the delicious food that we ate, but also because of the top-tier service provided to us by our waitress Monika. My husband had the Pollo Parmigiana, and I had the Vitello Limone. Growing up in an Italian household, I am very familiar with the smells, taste, and textures that Italian food presents. My dish was delicious, and my husband wanted to order a second round to take home. Like most restaurants on the weekend they were extremely busy, but not once did we ever feel like we weren't being taken care of. Tony, our server, is like an old friend who greets you warmly and makes you feel special the minute you walk in. Our food is always great. The chicken and eggplant parmesan are top-notch. The sausage appetizer and the light-battered, tender calamari reminds me of my Italian vacation. I wish I could remember the name of each pasta dish I've tried, so I could recommend them to you. Best traditional Italian food in the area! My husband and I have lived close for a little over a year and finally made it here for the first time. We went to celebrate his birthday, hoping for some heart warming, authentic Italian food and we got exactly what we were looking for. The interior is dimly lit, with pretty chandeliers and intimate seating. We started with wine & complimentary bread and their roasted red pepper oil- YUM. We asked for extra oil because it was so good. I do wish the bread was served warm but still a delicious combination nonetheless. Our waitress told us about the specials and the braciole sounded too good to pass up and I'm glad we didn't. It was one of the most tender meat dishes I've ever had. So flavorful and hearty. We then split the tortellini with prosciutto, peas & mushrooms and their vodka rigatoni. Both were phenomenal. The tortellini was creamy and rich. Vodka sauce was silky and cheesy. Both pastas cooked to perfection (al dente). I absolutely loved the large rigatoni noodles. The best part of our night was when the chef (or I'm assuming maybe owner?) came around to ask us how everything was. It really gives you a warm, family owned feel. We had to try the tiramisu & the cannoli. Both were nothing short of incredible. My only complaint is that while our server was so sweet and attentive, she came around about once every 6-8 minutes. I appreciate being checked up on, but that often made us feel pretty rushed. I get they probably want to turn tables over to get people in and out but I just wished I didn't feel like that was obvious. Dinner for a special occasion. This area is extremely busy so parking is a little tough but manageable. For a Friday night at 6:45 their was no wait. Place has a cool ambiance. We were seated upstairs. It's was kind of dark so it was alittle hard to read the menu. Katie our server was very polite and did an excellent job with explaining everything and serving us. We started out with bread and a side of red pepper in olive oil bread dip. I had a glass of the House Chianti it was great. Our appetizer the Calamari Fritti with the red sauce was very good. FYI there serving are pretty big. We had the Salmon special and the Piatti Di Mar. Both were excellent and well prepared. Great presentation and very good flavor. We didn't have room for desert. My wife and I enjoy going to this restaurant for many reasons. Their cocktails are well crafted and delicious. The service is impeccable with servers who are attentive, courteous and respectful. But, very specifically, we go for the Sea Bass. It's served in a bed of sautéed spinach in a pool of lemon butter sauce. This dish is to die for. My wife enjoys the lasagna. My family and I eat there 1-2 times a week. There is a remarkable menu with specialties everyday. You will start with a red pepper antipasti that is so good on bread, but you will want to eat it with a spoon. The appetizers are delicious. A favorite of mine is the Vongole Al Forni, (baked clams), and the Cole or Vongole alla Capri (steamed mussels or clams in a light broth). And you can't go wrong with any of the Calamari offerings. Actually, you can't go wrong with any of the choices. The Pasta is al dente, and the sauces stimulate your tastebuds. The veal and beef Ragu red sauce is like Sunday dinner in an Itslian home. Mama Mia!!! All of the entrees are a joy and stimulate the sensed. They are presented beautifully, smell divine and are a taste treat. The fish is always fresh and amazing.
