Moe's Grill is like the one episode of the Simpsons when Moe tries to expand his business by making it a family friendly place called "Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag" If you like good food, good fun and a whole lot of crap on the wall then come on down to Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag At Moe's they serve good ol' fashion cooking deep fried. Now that's Moe-like-it! So bring the whole family... or at the very least the ones that work on the Fox Pico Lot. Just no old people, they're not covered by his insurance. And remember the guarantee, if he's not smiling when your check comes, the meals on Moe! Come to Uncle Moe's for Lunch fun. it's good good good good, good good good While you wont see Moe come out with a basket of scolding hot fries on his head, you still can get those same fries and enjoy a really tasty lunch. Perhaps the only thing lacking here was the Flaming Moe. But this is in the new building at the studio lot, so perhaps we don't want to burn it down just yet. It was a really shitty day. I mean, really bad. I'm talking about Rupert Murdoch kicking your dog type of bad day. And the fine folks at Moe's Grill turned it completely around. Got up to tell the grill master what I needed and he already knew. I guess that means I come here often enough. Saw that I was a little on the dumps and put in extra bacon and cheese on my burger to kick it up a notch. Much like a good bartender, they get to know your order and make it quickly in front of your face. I wouldn't call them a friend. More like a well-wisher, in that Moe don't wish you any specific harm. But they make one hell of a great burger that can cheer you up. How could you not be happy eating at an Establishment that has sophisticated drawings of the Moe's Tavern Bar regulars on the wall. Much like Moe's Tavern, you'll go in there with your troubles and by the end of lunch, they'll be floating away with a filled stomach. Besides that, the Grill is located within viewing distance of the New York outdoor sound stage. So you can enjoy your lunch while you look down to a typical New York street block.

Moe's used to be open late (until around 8pm), but now the hours are a bit wonky. They usually close around 2:30p M-F but stay open late on random days. Could never really figure it out. The sandwiches here are a good deal because you can put anything they have in it without extra charge. My usual is the italian sandwich with sprouts, chipotle aioli, havarti cheese, avocado, and get it toasted. So good. It's a pretty loaded sandwich so it lasts me about 2 meals. Also the cooks will make you anything they have ingredients for. I've ordered carne asada fries, grilled chicken and veggies, grilled cheese, and I'm sure much more. I've also heard that they make chiliquiles on Fridays with the bombest mole sauce.

I came here a few days ago to visit my cousin who works at Fox Sports. When she said we were meeting for lunch, I assumed we were going outside the area to a restaurant. I was surprised to see that there were several charming cafeterias around the studios. Moe's is great. The staff is very friendly, there's several choices on the menu, and the cafeteria itself was clean and organized. I ordered the veggie burger and it was delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant mainly because of the theme. Who doesn't love the Simpsons?

This Simpsons themed cafe is located on the lot of FOX studios. Unfortunately it is not open to the public, but for the FOX employees and the guests of FOX studios. The cafe has specials that change daily, and the food served is an upscale cafeteria style food. One of the specials I had was tri-tip with steamed carrots and mushrooms with gravy. Another day I had fried chicken with mixed rice and egg rolls. Both were tasty, however the meats had a lot of fat that I had to cut out.

Some stuff runs out. If it's gone, they're not making any more. I've been disappointed to have to make a second choice in a moment's notice on two different occasions in four visits. I only have a 30-minute lunch and have little time for a cook to make something. I'm usually ordering something packed up and ready to go. Sometimes along the way, I find a home, like Public Works. First I had to observe and report, then I had to observe and report, now I have to observe and report. All that observing and reporting makes me hungry and this cafeteria does not disappoint. I've installed custom stainless steel stuff in this kitchen that I cut out and shaped myself! I've checked behind the fridges and coolers, this place is clean. Cafeterias, Cantinas, Chow Halls, all hold a special place in my heart (they feed me). My bosses are hiring again, why they don't promote first? I'll never entirely understand (I work so hard). I hear these candidates asserting themselves, freezing up, oscillating and bending at the waist. I want to tell them there's an obstacle course for laborer applicants, but they aren't laborer applicants because no one starts from the bottom anymore - it's romantic and old fashioned, it's quaint and rustic, it's over. For me it's the classic novel found on a shelf in the middle of the night, devoured like a piece of meat. Ground chuck, ground floor, it's the parking lot below the ground floor actually, it's the shovel and the gravel, the shot put and the post hole digger, anyways I could go on forever about what it is and what it isn't, but this cafeteria though, what they've got is a griddle where the eggs spread thin before hardening, and then the other ingredients can be wrapped inside a cozy egg blanket, and then it all gets rolled up into a tasty tortilla. There's salsa and a salad bar, there are sandwiches and snacks, coffee and juice, don't be afraid, it's only lunch.

Ever since reopening after the pandemic, both the service and food quality seem to have steadily deteriorated. I keep returning out of nostalgia for what it once was, but each visit leaves me more disappointed than the last. On my most recent visit, the service was noticeably dismissive and a bit sassy. The food was equally underwhelming. The Calabrese pizza was excessively greasy, and while I managed to finish the ribeye because I was absolutely famished, it was overcooked and dry, but at only $65 for the bone-in ribeye with fries, I guess I can't really complain. What truly ruined the experience, however, was the pear martini. It arrived garnished with a pear that still had the produce sticker attached. At best, this demonstrates a shocking lack of attention to detail and at worst, it raises concerns about whether the fruit was even properly washed. Seeing that completely killed our appetites. The restaurant removed the drink from the bill after i asked them to, but unfortunately the response felt indifferent, as though no one particularly cared that such an obvious mistake had made. After years of returning Bottega Louie, this visit was likely my last. It's disappointing to watch a once great restaurant decline so noticeably, but unless something changes, I can't imagine returning.

There are no refills on drinks like iced tea. The upside of it being self service, is you can hang out as long and chat as long as you like. There is good chance if you do linger that you might order desert or a second small $10 iced tea (with tax and tip). It would be quite easy to spend well over $100 for 2, without table service... If it were a little less expensive, I would be a regular... but if it were less expensive then it would be hard to find a table because that whole neighborhood would be hanging out here.

My mom and I came here because Michael Connelly mentions Cole's in his Bosch book series--and we're huge fans--so this stop felt a little like a literary pilgrimage. We came on a Saturday afternoon and immediately felt welcomed. The bouncer was super friendly and took the time to explain how everything works: order at the bar, grab a number, and sit wherever you like. Easy and laid-back. Of course, we came for the French dip--the very sandwich Connelly writes about--and it did not disappoint. Cole's claims to be the home of the original French dip, and honestly, I believe it. We both ordered the USDA Prime beef, which came with a pickle and a side of au jus. The bread was perfectly crunchy, the meat incredibly tender, and once you dipped the sandwich into the au jus... pure harmony. Absolute star of the show. I also had a margarita, which was solid, but let's be real--the French dip is the reason you come here. Even though it's a bar, people under 21 are allowed until 7pm, and there's a pool table if you want to hang out and soak in the vibe. The whole place feels like a time capsule in the best way possible. What a great old-school LA institution. We'll definitely be back.
