My wife treated me to dinner at Piccalilli for my birthday. It's been on my list for some time, so I was really excited when we pulled up to the restaurant! I was blown away by the service. We were seated quickly in a hip and classy, but very casual sitting area outside, and our server was extremely kind and helpful with menu questions from start to finish. Drink-wise, I ordered the frozen slushee, and it was delicious. For our food, we had the bread plate (delicious), green papaya salad (amazing balance of sweet and spicy notes), Brussels sprouts (on the spicy side, but so good), and potato wedges (great crunch, and the aioli was superb). We each got our own larger plate: I ordered the moo yang, which was absolutely terrific with a great balance of flavors. My spouse ordered the yaki udon and only had great things to say! The show-stopper of the night, however, was the s'mores ice cream. Order this. Just do it -- you'll thank me later! Plenty of parking nearby in lots, and so much to do in this area of Culver City! Came here for happy hour and snacks with a couple of girlfriends on Cinco De Mayo. The Laelia Blanco tequila served neat was the drink of choice for us all and it was smooth. For snacks, we shared: Thai Chicken Katsu - it was nicely breaded and not overly fried with a refreshing side salad Crispy Rice Salad - very flavorful with great textures with the crispy rice Cinco Chuchito - it was good Brussel sprouts - really heavy on seasonings I was not prepared for all the heavy flavors and it wasn't bad but it was a lot. We came here for drinks on a weekend with some friends, and made a rez in advance. They have happy hour even on the weekend which is amazing! The restaurant is located in the heart of dt Culver City. Nice decor and ambiance inside, it's colorful! Not too much seating so I anticipate you have to make a rez to dine here. I love that they have a nice selection of cocktails but also mocktails on their menu for those who don't want to drink alcohol. I tried their Thai tea mocktail which is dairy-free (made with coconut cream!). It was sooooo incredibly good. Super tasty and sweet Thai tea, and love that it's made with coconut. They have an alcoholic version as well made with vodka, my boyfriend got that and liked it. I also tried the Thai tonic smash which was good too, more refreshing and the predominant flavor was ginger beer. We split an order of wings which were nicely sauced and had a bit of a kick! 2 years later and I'm giving Piccalilli another go. This time with 2 girlfriends of mine after 6 months of planning dinner. Since both of them were running a bit late. The phone line was busy so I was able to pass by and change our time from 6p to 630pm with the host in the front. From my last experience, I had suggested we eat outside in the patio. Very thankful we did because like I remembered, it was pretty loud inside and I could actually hear our conversations. Great vibes and music as always. I will say their prices seem steep to come on a usual day but the happy hour felt pretty reasonable, with items being $12 or under. Bartender was nice and helpful. To start, I ordered a frozen cocktail. Super delicious and had me thinking of summer. I also grabbed a Makong sour. Also super good. But I knew what I was there for. Loved everything about this place. Met my sister and husband here as it's halfway between Huntington Beach and Woodland Hills. The great reviews, eclectic menu, cheap happy hour specials and easy parking will make us come back here. Make sure you get a seat on the patio. The sun dips behind the building so you're not blinded and the inside was pretty stuffy. Great service all night. $2 to park in the public lot. Happy hour ends at 6 pm on Saturday so we made good use of it. My sister had some frozen drink special with foam and mango and I had the Mekong Sour. Both were delicious. We all had the Kero Kero dog, Brussels sprouts and Nam Prik wings. All of these were on the HH menu and fairly cheap. The hot dog was pretty good but the sprouts and wings were outstanding. Both had a sweet and sour flavoring that was both spicy and tasty as hell. We also had the bread plate and albacore crudo. The bread came with an Indian pickle butter. It was strange. We were there at 5 PM on a Saturday for an early birthday dinner before heading to a concert. On a positive note, they do have weekend happy hour which is great. Everything we tried from the ceviche, Brussel sprouts to the miso pork jowl were all delicious. My overall impression is that there team hasn't been trained properly. It's almost like they hire their own friends to work there. Our server who turned out to be the manager was actually good but his team needed improvement. A whole glass of beer was spilled on our sisters, though it was an accident, she was trying to carry too much at once. Note that smelling like beer when going into a concert venue isn't the best look. Once this happened, the whole situation was downplayed, one of their runners made a snarky remark that this type of thing happens all the time and it isn't a big deal. The manager walked by thinking it was a small spill rather than a direct spill onto the person, not a glass that fell over on a table. It took 3-4 minutes for someone to come back out with a towel. She literally stood there waiting for something to dry herself off and for her chair to be cleaned up. I actually have a big issue with this. The beer being spilled isn't the concern, my concern is the lack of care and service provided in reaction to the spill. I won't be heading back to this restaurant, there are at least 20 other good restaurants in the area. But 3 stars since the food was good. read more

Parking is convenient since the public parking structure is right across the restaurant and there's some street parking available. We came on a Friday at 5pm and got seated outside in their patio. I went to this place after work with some co workers to relax and try something new. We sat on the outside patio area and ordered some drinks. I got the Mekong Sour and so did my other co workers. My other two got the frozen cocktails of the day. I should mention that we came during happy hour. For food we got Potatoes wedges, Miso Pork Jowl, and Nam Prik Wings. The appetizers were delicious. The drunks on the other hand were substandard. The service was quick but that unfortunately did not save the drinks. One of my co workers got a margarita and it tasted like a watered down drink with a cucumber flavor. If you're going to come here don't expect the drinks to be amazing but if you are going to come, please do so during happy hour so you can get cheaper drinks and food. read more
