This is easily, hands down, the best barbecue joint in Mobile. I've eaten here a few times now and am a huge fan of their food. The ribs are tender and juicy, with a good balance of meat and fat, and the barbecue sauce they make there is fantastic! I've had the baked beans, the green beans, the chips, and the cornbread, and all were amazing and exploded with flavor! The place gets kind of busy, especially on evenings where you can find some decent blues and jazz music. The atmosphere here is always fantastic, and the staff is exceptionally courteous. I came for lunch the other day and had the pulled pork platter, which was out of this world. The pulled pork had a nice balance of seasoning, and drank up the sauce that I generously applied to it. It's always nice when you can sauce it up to your own tastes, and the pulled pork was really good for that. I strongly recommend Moe's. Eat at Moe's! read more

Bar B Que sampler is the way to go if you want some variety. One order of the sampler is good for 2-3 adults. It's loaded with ribs, pork, chicken, sausage and turkey. White bar b que sauce is a must try. Also comes with 3 sides, we got potato, baked beans and cornbread. Sweet ice tea that they serve is perfect. We also ordered some fried shrimp. Our server Grant has great service and was on top of things. There is a dining and a bar area divided. We sat in the bar area where there were TVs around. The bar side is very spacious and has lots of seating to accommodate large parties. This place is located in a small beautiful town. Attended a retirement luncheon here a few weeks ago in the large back room. We placed our orders up front at the bar & paid. They gave us a numbers and brought the food out. I had the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and potato salad. The folks who work nearby raves about this place but I just thought it was OK. The BBQ sauce was quite vinegary so I'm glad I tasted it before slathering it on my sandwich. The food wasn't bad just uninspired. Not sure if we caught them on a bad day or the fact that they had to dish up so much food to a large group in a short time or what. I guess I'll have to go back and try them again on a regular day. I'd say my rating is closer to 2-1/2 stars than 3 but you can't award a half star. They did do a good job of keeping the back room warm with a propane heater which was appreciated. read more

This location is the worst Moe's BBQ I've ever been to. Not only was the service extremely slow (we waited almost an hour before receiving a bbq pork sandwich and wings), but also the food was nothing special. Their "hash brown casserole" was literally soggy potato strips drenched in the cheapest cheese that you can purchase. It was pitiful. The sandwich (Bama style pulled pork) was not warm and not appetizing (where it's been good at other Moe's locations.) I will not be returning to this location. The wait was completely unsatisfactory when they weren't even busy. There was barely anyone at the restaurant and plenty of servers sitting on their butts. I'm outraged. Went to Moe's on Thursday the 22nd to see the Wayne "The Train" Hancock show. Moe's area for shows is very nice and spacious with comfortable folding chairs to sit in, a table to eat at and a great sound system. I had the pulled pork sandwich (huge and delish) with sides of baked beans and pickled slaw (again...delish!). Wayne put on a heck of a show and his band is top notch, not a slacker in the group. If you're into old school country music a la Hank Sr. than you have to go see Wayne the next time he's in town. Okay so we arrived to early to check in at the hotel so we thought we'd grab a bite to eat while we waited for our rooms to be ready. Now will someone please tell me why mostly all the restaurants in downtown Mobile, AL are closed on Sunday? At any rate we finally found this joint which wasn't far from the hotel and OPEN! I didn't want to eat much, but I did want to try some Alabama BBQ so I chose the two meat plate. I selected the ribs and sausage and for my two sides I selected the baked beans and chicken salad. I thought the same thing.....chicken salad???? They have a list of sides that are special for the day and chicken salad was on the list. I chose it because it seems likes rather healthy choice.... don't judge me LOL!!!!! My coworker had the chicken with white sauce, red beans, and mac-and cheese. He said there wasn't much smoke flavor in the chicken and it was kinda tough. Really he appeared to be wrestling with that chicken. The red beans were different than what we were accustomed to..... he simply described it as DIFFERENT, but quite good. Alrighty then. He also said that the mac-and cheese was just okay. I had similar sentiments in reference to the BBQ as my coworker did. The ribs were tough, lacked smoke ring, faintly seasoned, and barely there as for the smoke flavor. The sausage was just okay. Now for the stars of this joint......the sides are the BOMB!!!! The baked beans were so delicious and that Chicken Salad!!!! OHHHHHH my goodness that Chicken Salad!!! Slap yo mama for me cuz I'm scared of mine! She got a mean left hook!!! The chicken salad is real light on the mayo and packs a mean punch on everything else. If I had just ordered the chicken salad and baked beans this place would've gotten five stars. The bread appears to be garlic bread but it's not. It's corn bread....WHUTTT!!!! I had the Lg. Ribs platter with 2 sides, cornbread, and a drink for $14. The food was absolutely tantalizing and the cornbread, the cornbread was Meg Ryan from "When Harry met Sally" GOOD. I am a frequent guest of Bar B Que, and this location has it all. Great ambiance and incredible service. The menu is simple and our party of six had a fantastic experience. For starters, the beverage(adult) were on point, I entertain clients frequently and variety with local options are always a positive. The food portions were perfect. All in the party were satisfied with the choices and timing(food was served hot)The sauce selection were perfect. A must try is the corn bread. They only get 1 star for the food being good. Other than that,the customer service was horrible. You have to seat yourself and have to hunt down a server or bartender to take your order. They will not go to you at all. You have to go and get your own drinks. Get your own sauce. If you want to take food home, you have to search for the containers and do it yourself. You got to basically do almost everything yourself. I'm surprised they didn't make customers cook their own food too. I wouldn't be surprised if they got mad at us for not wiping down the table ourselves for the next customers. read more

I ate there with a large group tonight, and the service was good. A few orders were mishandled by being very delayed, but the restaurant made it up to the persons affected. This demonstrates am excellent understanding of customer relations. Everyone makes mistakes, but this restaurant actually fixes them, unlike some other restaurants on Dauphin street (especially Wintzell's, in my experience). I ordered the ribs and and turkey along with the Mac and cheese and greens. The greens had a sweet taste to them which I'm guess is how them make them in Mobile. I LOVE Moe's BBQ. They are arguably the best BBQ in Mobile. We usually go to their Airport location but this night we came because they hosted Delta Dog's annual Paint Your Pooch event. They had several severs making the rounds through the room taking drink orders and food orders. It could not have been organized any better, plus it means a lot to me that they would be the host of such a worthy cause's charity event. As always I ordered the pulled pork plate with mac and cheese, cornbread (they have the best corn bread ever. Never ever dry) and oreo pudding. They also have banana pudding but to be honest I don't care for their banana pudding. Half because I don't care for it half because I love their oreo pudding so much I would never think of ordering anything else. The BBQ is always juicy, never dry. Both their regular and white BBQ sauces are fantastic. Another thing I really like about this place is that I noticed they have put up a sign in the bathroom regarding the "angel shot" which is if you're in a situation such as on a date and you don't feel safe you can or an angel shot and the bartender will know you need help. Despite being a "chain" with multiple locations, when the Locals from Mobile wanted to take us to good BBQ, we headed to this Moe's... TWICE in fact! I don't know why I had not heard about Moe's... maybe I thought it was the burrito fast-food joint (that's Moe's Southwest). Moe's apparently started in Vail, CO of all places! But trust me, it's heritage is Southern and everything we tried on our two visits reminding me of everything my grandma and grandpa made back on the farm! On my first visit, I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich "Bama style". Like most dishes on the menu, it comes with two sides and a drink (self-serve soda/tea/lemonade). I followed my local host's lead, I selected skillet corn and peach cobbler. The sides change every day, and there was a run on the peach cobbler, so only two of the people in our party received their orders - I was one of the lucky ones! On day two, there were enough other things on the menu that I wanted to try it again. The only item I duplicated was the skillet corn - it really is that. Maybe the charm is not the same the second time, but the sausage was not as good as my hosts has proclaimed. The smoked turkey was the better of the two meats. I also had the collard greens, which were loaded with bacon bits and blueberry cobbler. Overall a great meal! Both visits were for lunch. There were groups of people that had starting drinking and looked like they were taking the rest of the day off. I think this location gets a great happy hour (and later) crowd. It's quite big and great for groups. I would love to come back again when I am in Mobile! read more

If you're in the area you'll have your choice of which Moes to go to. We chase between Spring Hill Avenue and Airport Drive. We liked the downtown feel better cause it was more interesting to walk around after dinner. All I can say is if the other locations offer the same quality stuff that this one offered you can look forward to a good meal. Between us on two different trips we had pulled pork, meatloaf, spare ribs, sausage, dry rubbed wings, and pork rinds. Based on those choices go for the ribs, wings, and pulled pork. Bo the the Ribs and pulled pork get rating of good to very good. The wings get an AWESOME.!! I could jeat eat ten of these for a meal real easy. The combination of smoking and the dry rub leads to a crispy skinned wing with a smokey taste and a spicy vibe. A real winner. Another winner on the menu is the cole slaw. This is a no vinegar slaw that is pickled perfectly so that everything crunchy and crisp. When served ice cold you can't find a better slaw anywhere. I love creamy slaw and was amazed at how good this was without a drop of dressing. SO my next dinner may consist of wings and slaw solely. Who would have thunk it?? They only lose a star because the entrees could be hotter. I realize in BBQ joint they are not smoking to order, but you have to find a away to serve better than warm to hotish stuff. read more

The food is decent and the location is in the heart of downtown Mobile, which is great for taking a walk or catching a movie at the Crescent after dinner. With that said, it's a shame that they can't get the service aspect right. It's not even marginal: on two occasions I've endured appallingly bad service. The second incident was so bad that it would result in the server being terminated at just about any other restaurant. I'm fairly easy going and enjoy a good meal as well as a good service experience, and I enjoy rewarding good service. It sucks that I haven't had that opportunity here. The biggest thing that would help would be a host or hostess. Instead, you seat yourself and hope a server notices you, or that you've sat in the section of someone who takes pride in their work. Either of those are a gamble. I get the feeling a lot of the staff here have lost a good bit of their cognitive ability to the rigors of following Phish or Panic on tour. As such, the management would do well to not hire so many wookie dirtbags as this may be related to the level of service I've experienced here. read more

Do not check the orders prior to using a Waitr delivery. We are great Waitr customers and this was the first time we had a bad order. Moes did not properly read the order we had ordered on their receipt. We had the receipt to prove what we ordered and what they had put together and failed to do. Do not order from them. They also lack customer service. read more
