Taco Tuesday! 1 pork, 1 chicken, a side of boudin balls, and jambalaya. White BBQ sauce on the tacos! This hit the spot! I came at a slow time on a Tuesday so I was the only diner in the place. It's close to downtown/University so I imagine lots of college kids come here. Music isn't overbearing, and plenty of tables!

Great BBQ in a lively student bar near University of Alabama's Tuscaloosa campus. Everything was good, and in particular, I really liked their version of coleslaw made without cream. The seating outside is nice, especially when it's very noisy inside. Moe's is a chain, but we haven't tried any of the other locations. This location is definitely geared to the local student population and was quite hopping inside!

    Lima beans!!!!

Before visiting my brother that goes to U of Bama I had a friend that has been to the area tell me how fantastic the food in the area is. While this is true, Moe's BBQ is probably the best of all. My family and I came in on an away game day and were surprised that we were able to get a big table- this of coarse was before every single student from UofA came in! Instead of it being a sit down restraunt, you order your food at the counter and then the food part and the bar part are totally separate. I had the pulled pork sandwhich with lima beans and mac n cheese. The name of this store is called "Moe's Orginal BBQ" but the real star of the show is the lima beans... amazing. Onto the bar side of the restraunt.. the bar ran out of basically everything. We came in just as they opened too and any mixer you could imagine wanting in your drink was just not available. Mimosas, bloody marys, lemonade, orange juice, grapefruit juice.. not available. Needless to say we did not stay at Moes for the game.

4 stars for solid barbecue, fast service, and good vibes! This was my first time at Moe's bbq and I was super satisfied with the food! I usually don't look for barbecue outside of Memphis but the nachos were really good! The homemade chips, queso, and red onions really set it apart from your typical bbq nachos. It was also super filling. My friend got the pulled pork sandwich which he thought was one of the better ones he's had in Tuscaloosa. He also spoke highly of the Mac n cheese. I've also heard people speak highly of the wings so that'll be what I get on my next visit!

    Best bushwhacker around!!!!!

I will preface this review by stating we only had the bushwhacker....now having said that...Chandler who was the bartender/person in charge makes the best bushwhacker that moe's has ever offered!!!! Not only does she put chocolate around the cup..... but she recommended a shot of Kenny Chesney banana rum as a topper!!!!! Talk about heaven on earth!!!!!!!! Such a great treat for a very hot afternoon in Tuscaloosa!!! I can honestly say that Chandler has set the bar very high now for the moe's bushwhacker..... from now on at any of the mor's that serve this delectable treat it will have to be done to Chandler's standards!!!!!

Came here for a college tour and decided to go somewhere we don't have back home. I got the wings while my family got the bbq. It seems as though everyone was satisfied with their food, I definitely was with mine. The best part about this place though is the atmosphere. It has a very laid-back, college life feel to it. Everyone was nice, chill, and simply want to watch some sports and eat some delicious barbecue. I most definitely would go again if given the opportunity.

Being born a Bama Belle, I can truly tell you this BBQ spot is legit! I'm so glad my mother (a rib lover) suggested we check out Moe's during our brief visit to Tuscaloosa. Boy am I glad she did! Their St. Louis ribs are off the charts! Easily some of the best I've ever had. I have no doubt that someone seasoned & nursed these ribs with love as they smoked to perfection. No sauce was required (= legit) but I tried both the red & Alabama white sauce anyway; both were tasty. The sweet potato casserole was also excellent. This BBQ was good enough to order extra to go & eat later. We'll done Moe's!!!! We will be back upon our next visit to T-Town.

I was here a week ago, and I'm still daydreaming about their WINGS!!!!! I could eat this everyday for the rest of my life and never get tired of it...that's how much I LOOOVED their wings. They are so juicy, and perfectly seasoned, and not too greasy like others. I'm still mad at myself for ordering a pull pork sandwich, which was REALLY GOOD, don't get me wrong...but the WINGS MAN!!! Anyway! I'm from Texas and I gotta say that their special sauce wasn't for me, but I guess that's an Alabama thing. The places is really nice and clean, I like how fast the service was, and I love that they carry a lot of locally brewed beers on draught.

Mac and cheese and skillet corn. Skillet corn, believe it or not, was very cajun flavored.

Food is awesome, wings are great. The service was ok, sometimes it is hard to get a beer. Location could use a bit of cleaning.

The franchised Dreamlands are so different with a plethora of choices, more to the liking of the suburban south. If you like that, go for it. For my money, you can't beat the original. The ribs are charred perfectly and the service is old time South, friendly and helpful. You immediately feel at ease with everything and everyone around you. We had just left Dreamland Bbq hungry and disappointed with ribs that tasted bland and boiled. Archibalds ribs were full of flavor, tender and had a nice vinegar sauce, he assured me they were Gluten free and I ordered Beans and potato salad as well. The beans were good but a little sweet for me, and the potato salad was ok as well. My spouse had the Whiting and Fried okra which was not gluten free but said they were really great! Nobody needs the large mixed plate (unless you're sharing it?). The ribs were salty with just a kiss of smoke. Far superior to Dreamland and fall-off-the-bone tender, I thought they were alright. They were moist and very porky. The chopped pork was watery with very little flavor. I wasn't a fan of the bbq sauce either- it mostly water with flecks of yellow mustard and heavy on the black pepper. I'm certain it was just a small container of their mop sauce used in the pit to moisten and flavor the meat as it smokes. Coleslaw was fine. Zesty with a mayonnaise base. There was the distinct bite of dill pickles. I think they just use leftover dill pickle juice to moisten it. The star of the show was the potato salad. Zingy with plenty of mustard it perfectly cut the richness of the fatty meats.

But spring break week flipped the script in the best way possible. Tonight, my wife and I met up with some good friends for a pre-retirement dinner, and with the college crowd scattered to the beaches, downtown felt like it belonged to us "seasoned locals" again. No lines, no crowds--just a quick call ahead and we were seated within minutes. That alone felt like a win. We started things off with the fried green tomatoes--a true Southern delicacy and, let's be honest, acid reflux's favorite dance partner. Worth it? Absolutely. These were hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The kind of dish that would make Grandma nod in approval. No shortcuts, just done right. For the entrée, I went with the UBK Pasta--blackened chicken, sausage, and shrimp tossed with corkscrew pasta probably crafted in a cast iron skillet. It came out hot and packed with flavor, carrying just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting without overwhelming the dish. Exactly how I like it. My wife stuck with a proven winner: the shrimp & grits. She's had it before, and once again, it delivered. Consistency matters, and this dish continues to hit the mark every time. Now, not everything was quite as smooth. Our waitress wasn't exactly channeling that warm Southern hospitality you hope for. Let's just say she wasn't "Miss Dolly" serving smiles with a side of charm. The service leaned a bit on the impatient side--subtle (and not-so-subtle) hints that our time at the table was up, including clearing drinks before we were even finished. At one point I joked about going to the restroom but worried I might come back to find my chair gone. Still, when the food is this good, it carries the experience. Urban Bar & Kitchen continues to deliver where it matters most--on the plate. The atmosphere was relaxed thanks to spring break timing, the food was as strong as ever, and the company made it even better. As for the service... maybe she was just ready for her own spring break reunion. Happens to the best of us. Final takeaway: Go for the food--it's consistently excellent. And if you can catch a quieter night like this one, even better.
