Complimentary nachos with three different salsas from the salsa bar

For what it is, this Moe's deserves five stars. When I arrived, the staff was super friendly. I was greeted immediately. Upon entering I also noticed that the restaurant was quite clean. I ordered a burrito bowl. Unlike Chipotle, you can add anything you want without being charged for adding things like gauc or queso. They also had a ton of options to top off bowl. For example, they had cilantro which I had them generously apply. My ridiculously cute daughter was my lunch date. Being that I had a stroller to push, an employee carried my food to the table for me without me asking. They also moved a chair out to make room for the stroller. The bowl was satisfying and full of flavor. I was even able to add whatever salsa I wanted from the salsa bar. Oh, and there were complimentary chips as well. Next time I'm in the area and hungry, I just might stop by again.

Bathrooms are mostly clean. No, I didn't put that paper on the floor

This is my favorite "Mexican food" chain restaurant. Once you get past the kitschy names (Wrong Doug, home wrecker, etc.) you'll find really fresh food made to order -quickly- at low prices. I'm a big fan of their salsa bar, to accompany the complimentary chips that come with each order.

Joey Bag of Donuts? Billy Baru? Earmuffs? Julia Gulia? Ya need to learn half a new language just to order at Moe's southwest grill. That "Joey" is a big burrito with your choice of meat and any of the no-extra-charge ingredients. Billy is nachos, earmuffs is a burrito bowl, and Julia is a stack, basically a tostada with a second shell on top. We visited in the first week and service was certainly friendly (shouts of "welcome to Moe's"), but confused and slow. Customizing your choice is nice, all the usual choices like salsas, fresh chopped jalapeños and much more, but took forever. Salsa bar rocks!! Two mild red, one mild green, one hot red and one goofy pineapple-cucumber disaster. No other fast-casual mex chain has a salsa bar, it's a real selling point here. Those free chips were specially salty, could have eaten a few more, and definitely made in house, you can watch them hit the fryer. The boss was quite happy with the queso sauce on her nachos, oops sorry, I mean her Billy Baru. :) Vegetarian rating: 4 stars, every variation can be ordered veg, with or without tofu for a protein boost. And yes the veg variations get their own names, as they should. They make a big deal of the freestyle coke machine, mix any combo you can stand lol. Me, I had cold green tea, not bad. Dining room has a couple dozen tables. Plenty of parking in back. Just barely a three star place, but we ate for almost free thanks to a BOGO coupon, and I seriously liked that salsa bar.

The band walked around to the tables for song requests and would sing next to the table as well, really cute! My mom requested a song for my grandma, which made her tear, it was really sweet. Most of the staff seemed really warm and friendly, unfortunately not the same could be said from the waitress we got. She seemed to be pretty absent, didn't seem knowledgeable when asked about details on dishes. At one point, she accidentally dropped guacamole on a little girl's arm at the table next to us and she apologized once and walked away, leaving the guacamole on the floor and splattered all over her coat as well as mine. All other staff we interacted with were nice and helpful. On to the food! The salsa was really flavorful and the chips were fresh and crispy. I got the cheese enchiladas which were pretty nice. It came with rice and beans which ended up being eaten by my daughter. She got an order of rice and beans and the portions were quite big for just being sides which was really nice. Mom and grandma had soups which they said were quite flavorful. It is BYOB so all their drinks are non alcoholic which is cool for everyone. I got the lime Margarita which was very limey, very delicious. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for some good Mexican food.

They're knowledgeable about the many items on the menu and kept our waters and chips topped up throughout the meal. The actual food wasn't as great. I tried some barbacoa street tacos and some fried fish tacos. Everything was fresh and well cooked but lacking in flavor - each dish could be seasoned a bit more. I'm hopeful for the restaurant, and I may try it again if they try new recipes or something different to season their food.

I do feel everything would have benefitted from salt, and I wish that as a dine-in customer my burrito had not come wrapped in to-go paper. To give you a sense of the ambiance: the Spanish-speaking cashier/cook was reading a book when I walked in, and the television on the wall was blaring a Spanish-language TV show. I was one of only two customers when I went for a Saturday lunch around 1p. The other customer was also conversing in Spanish with the front of house. I appreciated that a bottled green habanero sauce was at my table, along with Cholula. It helps add to the authenticity. All that said, maybe don't come here for the tex-mex. If I came back I'd try one of the five different kinds of tacos they offered.
