Complimentary nachos with three different salsas from the salsa bar
    Leah D.

For what it is, this Moe's deserves five stars. When I arrived, the staff was super friendly. I was greeted immediately. Upon entering I also noticed that the restaurant was quite clean. I ordered a burrito bowl. Unlike Chipotle, you can add anything you want without being charged for adding things like gauc or queso. They also had a ton of options to top off bowl. For example, they had cilantro which I had them generously apply. My ridiculously cute daughter was my lunch date. Being that I had a stroller to push, an employee carried my food to the table for me without me asking. They also moved a chair out to make room for the stroller. The bowl was satisfying and full of flavor. I was even able to add whatever salsa I wanted from the salsa bar. Oh, and there were complimentary chips as well. Next time I'm in the area and hungry, I just might stop by again.

Ordered a bowl and the rice was rock solid. Second time trying Moe's and it was awful. Taco Bell can do better and it's cheaper because you're not spending $10 for dusty crusty flavorless rice. Asked for queso in the bowl and there was none. Salsa was also filled less than half way. For a this bouje town I expected better.

Bathrooms are mostly clean. No, I didn't put that paper on the floor

This is my favorite "Mexican food" chain restaurant. Once you get past the kitschy names (Wrong Doug, home wrecker, etc.) you'll find really fresh food made to order -quickly- at low prices. I'm a big fan of their salsa bar, to accompany the complimentary chips that come with each order.

My husband put our name in for a party of four and gave his phone number for the text notification but the hostess accidentally entered us as a party of two. Thankfully, the table that was ready was large enough for four but it could have caused an issue. As a note, she remembered and realized she mistyped it and apologized immediately. Our waiter was friendly, though the service had a few hiccups. My chicken quesadilla (which I ordered as my entrée) came out well before everyone else's meals. When boxing leftovers, he asked whether I wanted the sides, sour cream, and salsa included. I said no, but when I opened the container the next day, everything had been packed together anyway. Food: The chicken quesadilla was delicious and generously filled with shredded chicken. Drinks: The frozen strawberry margarita was excellent. It was filled to the brim and stronger than what you typically get at a restaurant. Overall, I'm chalking the service issues up to it being a busy Saturday night. We'd still happily return to Jose Tejas whenever we're in the area.

The food is the reason I'm writing this review. Ordered the Cajun popcorn shrimp for appetizer and it was beyond salty. The sauce helped but the salt was the extent of the taste. My wife had the fish fajitas and I had the pulled chicken tacos for lunch with fries. The fries were over fried like chips but the pulled chicken tacos was downright not right there was a chicken pot outlets chicken with a taste to the chicken. I had one bite put it down and pushed the plate away. I was done. My wife ate some of her fajita with her comment being that it's was really spicy. I asked for the check. The waiter asked us for boxes. Seeing that we didn't eat the food we said we weren't taking anything. I told him to have someone check the chicken as it's not right and he said he would let them know. He came back with the check I paid the full check and again mentioned to the waiter that someone should really look into the chicken as someone will get sick and we left. My wife was upset as she was upset I paid the sill receipt but my point is the following. Reputable locations who take their businesses serious pay attention and monitor their patrons. Ultimately without them they don't have a business. Your representative taking care of us saw we barely touched the food if at all. This is not normal at an eating establishment and your only concern was that we didn't want to take the food home. Following my warning on the food there was no concern just collect your check and rip. Enjoy the hundred bucks we will never be back. Left a star as I couldn't post with none.

The food came out pretty quickly. The server/bartender was really nice and helpful. I asked her what SHE likes here, and she mentioned fajitas. So I got the Mexican Corn Fajita. When I got up to my room with it, I was kind of disappointed that there was no meat in there, but I realize that the menu didn't say squat about meat. My mistake. HOWEVER... that was an amazing dish. Every single part of the meal, from the rice, the black beans, to the small included side of guacamole and the fajita meal... wow. I ate almost everything. I couldn't stop. It was really, really good, and I would absolutely get it again. The mexican corn was flavored in a really authentic way, along with peppers, onion, tomato. I'm really impressed. I should go down and try a frozen drink but I'm too damned full.

After being seated, I walked around the premises and saw a large room for private events, a vast area for outdoor seating, very nice wall artistry, and even a good-sized individual room for a private meal. Shyam was an exceptional Server. He took very good care of us and contributed to an enjoyable meal. I started with a Classic Margarita and it was served in a LARGE glass. So large, that I had to hand over the car keys, afterwards. The Fat Cactus complimentary chips and salsa was AMAZING. First, the salsa had chunks of tomato, onions, and lots of basil. It was so throughly enjoyed, that we asked for a second helping, which they gladly obliged. Our selections were: Chicken Tortilla Soup (Rich chicken broth flavored with onions, tomatoes, corn, black beans, finished with a dash of cream, crispy tortilla chips, avocado, sour cream, and cheese). This soup was served in a deep bowl, had a very nice presentation, and every spoonful was flavorful. The next item was the Burrito Michoacano (Shredded chicken seasoned with authentic Mexican spices, Mexican rice, black beans, pico de gallo, cheese, and chili arbol sauce). This Burrito was huge, all of the ingredients were well seasoned, and I took some home to enjoy during the NFL playoffs. The final item was the Tamales Chicken Pastor (Homemade masa tamales, stuffed with Chicken Al Pastor, served with red enchilada sauce, and topped with creamy sour cream). I'm glad, that I discovered Fat Cactus and will definitely revisit and/or dine at their New Brunswick location.

Our waiter brought out drinks and chips with salsa. We skipped appetizers, and just got entrees. That night, I went with the Tacos de la Calle (Classic Street Tacos plate), which comes with 3 tacos, Mexican rice and beans (black or pinto), and all the usual fixings. I got the Combination so I could pick different ones. I got: -- Shrimp on a soft flour tortilla - shrimp comes with sliced avocado and jicama. This was my favorite one. -- Chicken on a soft corn tortilla - chicken comes with cotija cheese, red onion, and cilantro. 2nd favorite. -- Chorizo on crunchy corn tortilla - spicy sausage comes with red onion and cilantro. I realized next time Ill leave the crunchy corn tortilla for Taco Bell. It's not bad, but the fillings are so good - I'd have preferred a soft tortilla or even the lettuce wrap. Our waiter was nice. She looked out for us during our meal, checking in to see if we needed anything. Also, they brought out a surprise churro dessert for our birthday celebrant and the table to share...
