Waited several minutes to be acknowledged. That is when we noticed the staff was not wearing masks. Not clean behind counter.

Went for lunch today with my girlfriend. Please spare yourself the nausea and money. From the…read morestart, service is friendly and accommodating. Ordered two waters and a Long Island iced tea. So far so good. I ordered the speedy Gonzalez, which is rice, beans, an enchilada, and a taco. My girlfriend ordered the lunch #8, which was supposed to be burritos and received two tacos with rice and beans instead. We receive our food, and from the start it's not good. It's slopped onto a metal tray as if we were in a third world prison. No care, no thought of presentation in the least. I ate the taco first and could immediately tell the shell came out of a box, and wasn't cooked. The lettuce was slightly brown and room temperature. Beef was okay, seasoned well with decent texture. I finish that and move on to the "Mexican rice". To call this Mexican rice would be insulting to an entire culture. The rice was absolutely from a frozen bag, and came with corn (understandable), Lima beans and green beans, which the latter of are far from what they called "gourmet" Mexican. It was horrendous. I spared myself the cold, crusted over beans and decided to try the enchilada. Again, frozen. The beef was far from relatable to that of the taco, the tortilla was mush, and the sauce was offensive to anything close to a taste bud. Please, do yourself a favor and eat else where.

Tonight I had the three amigos which is three hardshell tacos. Your choice, beef for chicken. I of course, went for the beef and added tomatoes and sour cream to totally Americanized. My tacos! All three were delicious! Hubby had the birria quesadilla. That's his favorite dish here! We also of course had an order of refried beans because you can't eat in a Mexican restaurant without having refried beans! Cute little restaurant very well decorated lots of TVs with many choices to keep your attention if you don't want to pay attention to who you're eating with lol

I visited Don Tello's with a few of my girlfriends and had a pretty basic 3-star experience. It was…read moremy first time there under the recommendation of my bestie but the Yelp reviews made me a bit hesitant. But I went with the vibes! Located in Lithonia, Don Tello's is located in a busy retail area and I loved that parking wasn't an issue at all. There were 2 arcade games at the front which I'm sure come in handy on busy days when children may become restless if their parents are waiting for a table. As we walked up to the hostess stand, I noticed the printed signage that so many mentioned in their reviews regarding no refunds, remakes, etc. Kinda makes you cautious! But we were quickly seated by friendly hostesses and we weren't turning back. The restaurant was huge and filled with plenty of space for hungry guests. I read reviews regarding their Cinco de Mayo celebration being on swole, and I can definitely imagine that! There were only a few people in our seating area during our visit, but I definitely appreciated that. Our waitress was sweet but quite forgetful. On a number of occasions we found ourselves asking for items two or three times. We'd ask a question and she'd respond in a calm "duh" kinda way as if we knew what was happening in the kitchen, lol. I'm a guacamole purist so when I ordered the Texas guacamole dip, I asked for it to be prepared tableside as that was listed as an option on the menu and I wanted a hand in deciding how much/little of each ingredient and enjoy the prep. When I asked about this, our waitress said, "No. No that's not possible." I asked why not and she said, "The kitchen, they prepare it in the kitchen. Ever since.. yeah, no." LOL not much of an explanation, we were all so puzzled. But I was set on the idea and knew I didn't want the regular guacamole dip because in pictures it looked like avocado puree. Moving along. The menu is extensive but not overwhelming. I really appreciated that there were a number of a la carte options (as I never eat my rice and beans) and they were all priced under $7! Such a great deal. I ended up going with a shredded chicken chimichanga along with the guacamole dip and my girlfriends opted for tacos, a beef quesadilla, a burrito and an order of nachos. I'll say this - the portions were insane. My friends' quesadilla was filled up with meat and covered the entire plate (but wasn't cut up) and another girlfriends' nachos could have fed two people. My guacamole was a nice portion as well and I could tell that it was fresh. It was good, not the best I've had, but tasty. I could have used another avocado in the mix and just a litttttttle less lime. Overall, an okay experience but I'm not sure if I'll be rushing back anytime soon.
