This place is truly a vibe. Small shop. Lots of tables. A disco ball on top. 3 gaming machines. Spanish songs playing out loud. The food is incredible. The mofongo has pork rinds which were hard to chew through but the rest of the dish was delicious. Chicken was well seasoned. Topping of onions was just perfect. While on the road heading home I decided to stop here to pick up breakfast to go. I ordered the mangu, fried salami, ham, eggs and fried cheese. If you've ever eaten a Dominican breakfast then you know the most important part is the mangu. That being said, while this one was tasty it wasn't as soft as I've had from other places which was kinda disappointing. The eggs were cooked to hard for me as well. The fried cheese was in chunks which I enjoyed and the salami and ham were typical. Flavor wise the meal was on point, the only issues were the mangu's softness and the hard eggs. The young lady at the counter was nice, but the menu prices aren't accurate. I ordered was the $8+ meal and I was charged $12.95. When I asked why... I order to go, since there was a water storm outside and the food took a bit longer than expected. I order a picadera that came with fried pork, beef, chicken, sausage, salami, fried cheese and tostones. The tray was pretty big and everything was tasty. I would have preferred some type of sauce or mayo ketchup, but there wasn't any on the bag. I also ordered a mofongo on the side which was also good and I liked that it had chicharrón inside. Great little hole in the wall spot. The strip mall it is in may be a little off putting but don't let it fool you, this place is worth it if you are looking for authentic Dominican food. They have a kiosk where you can place your order but they offer table service. Food was delicious, the beans were great. Hidden hole in the wall gem!! One Saturday morning, I didn't feel like cooking breakfast but wanted something different than your typically eggs, bacon and biscuit. So I hopped on my trusty Yelp app and got to searching. I came across this restaurant and knew I had to have it. By the time I found it, it was after their serving time of breakfast (11:30) but I called anyway and without hesitation she took my order. Since I don't live too far, my order wasn't ready when I got there. So I had to wait a bit. I ended up adding a cafe con ledge to the order. However it wasn't an authentic cafe con leche at all. My food however was delicious. The mangu was delicious. My only complaint is that I should have asked for more pickled onions on top. They serving of mangu was huge. I literally ate off of it the whole day. With my order I also got an omelet that I should've asked for without cheese. Not much of a cheese and simply just overlooked that small detail but I know for next time. Service was great. Both ladies that were present, were nice and accommodating. I got the picadera for 1 and a side of mofongo. Mofongo was dry and kind of stale, had no taste to it The meat in the picadera looked like it was all fried together (chicken, pork, beef, sausage) and tasted like it too. It was served with some sauce on the side, but it was basically just oil. I don't think I'll be going back. Only good things were tostones and fried cheese. This is not the place to eat Mofongo. The restaurant is old and dirty. The waitress was kind but seemed irritated. The shrimp Mofongo had only one shrimp in it and then they brought out a side dish with small shrimp in red sauce with frozen vegetables. I ordered a garlic sauce. There was no flavor of garlic, olive oil or chicharon in the Mofongo. The homemade lemonade was something made from powder out of a can and water added to it. My happiest moment was when the waitress let me pay after eating a few bites and I got to leave. read more

WOW! Just went to this place for the first time. It's a small mom & pop place. My 3 year old enjoyed the Spanish music & even danced in the resturant while waiting. Though I had to wait 35 mins for two sandwiches IT WAS WORTH EVERY SECOND! I ordered thier steak sandwich & chicken sandwich. Both were sooooo delicious! Stay far far away from this place. The waitress was no help. If you didn't know what to order she would leave and go back to behind the counter instead of talking to you and helping you out. Such a bad service, Not recommended. This service have been one of the worst I ever received. This is the first and only time I ordered something from this place. Food arrived one hour and forty five minutes later, missing items, wrong items and part of the food cold. Bad customer service as well. The first person who answered the phone was rude and the supposed manager (Felix) with whom I spoke on the phone, a mockery, they did not give me a refund for the missing products, yelled at me on the phone and hung up the phone. This is a true definition of a hole in a wall restaurant. Have been passing by this restaurant for many years and finally went inside about 2 months ago and we have been hooked! Everything we try is delicious and fresh. The staff is friendly and helpful. The mofongo is the house specialty. Our favorites include the fried chicken, chivo (goat), and the stewed beef and chicken. We will continue to come back for more. read more

I really like the food here! They serve good breakfast & coffee but you must have their fish with tostones! Delish!! I'm giving this place 3 stars for the ambience. It's not the greatest place to eat while hearing someone yelling, walking or running upstairs in the room above the restaurant. Very distracting. If you do come, you are probably better off going there on a weekend. Maybe the noise above is less distracting with a restaurant filled with chattering, or maybe not. Interesting place. Let me separate things a bit: negatives didn't mean much. Food: oh my, portions are huge; I couldn't finish my chicken. Flavors were really good. Price is pretty good given portions and quality. Location: some unassuming corner of Pembroke road, some may consider this area the hood, everything is relative. Decor: um, well, this place is your stereotypical hole in the wall, do not expect fancy anything, it actually feels like an average Dominican joint. Service: perhaps because we made it towards the end of the shift but, they were out of some items, the server had to go ask the kitchen (headcount =1) twice about what they had...come on now, ask once and save yourself time. I asked for water + lemon wedge and got a lemonade back, lol. That said, the servers were really nice and cozy. Come here for the food and overlook everything else. read more

OMG the mofongo is by far one of the best outside of Puerto Rico, and it's a Dominican Restaurant. Hats off to them. Ok so this is a hole in the wall that u just can't drive past without at least stopping to try it. Granted, it's not the prettiest place, heck, it's not pretty at all but the food is really delicious and they serve a hefty portion.
