Great spot if you are craving some amazing Nicaraguan food. We came here for a party and I wish so could've stayed longer. The staff was very attentive and courteous despite it being a busy night. The steak was grilled to perfection in some places the carne asada can be very dry but here it was still juicy. The arroz valenciana was delicious it was packed with chicken and vegetables and was not overly salted. We heard the food here was great but unfortunately we didn't get that far. We first entered and sat down at a corner booth. The waitress seemed pleasant and took our drink and food order. Once we got our drinks (15-20 minutes in). The owner came out of the kitchen and seemed upset at the waitress while talking on the phone. Then they both entered the kitchen. Our waitress then exited the kitchen, approached our table said we have to move, she didn't ask, she said. Was down south and was craving Nicaraguan food the location in Pembroke Pines was the closest. Inside it's a bit outdated. The menus has the prices covered and it seems to be a bit over priced for the type of food but taste of food was really good! Just be careful cause they do double tax without you knowing. This restaurant does not provide prices on their menu. When it's time to pay, they charge taxes on their menu prices and an extra tax on the entire bill. When asked about prices they stated that they are updating their menu which is a lie because I went back several weeks later and their menu still did not have prices. The waitress will tell you one price and the receipt reflects another. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau of Florida to investigate because they are charging extra taxes which is illegal. I have my receipt as proof. I highly suggest staying away from this restaurant. There are better and honest Nicaraguan restaurants in the area. read more

A churrasco steak was $50 .....not even at El NOVILLO, a much nicer, higher end restaurant, with ambiance the BIG Daddy Churrasco is $38. The meat at La Hormiga de Oro was super hard. Not a good piece steak. The gallo pinto was hard like it had been seating there all day. But what really topped it off was the server. We had a party of four and she added her own tip . When I asked her to look at the receipt she quickly picked up and said that it was her receipt and that she would bring me a copy. So so disappointed but I will never go back her. The food is amazing and it tastes fresh! The best rice and beans in town. I don't think they have another location, just the one in Hialeah, FL. But it's worth the drive. I don't eat meat, but the size of the meat they serve is huge, my husband loved it. The cabbage vinaigrette salad is my favorite. It's a mom's pap's place, and the food is really good. Been coming here for years and cant imagine how this place could have the rating it has. The food is incredible. This is a fact. You can have issues with other things but the flavors here are top tier. In all honesty, I dont think they really want to be a sit down restaurant as opposed to more of a "cafeteria." Thats why the service and decor may not be as expected. But back to the amazing food, just endless amount of variety including authentic deserts. When i arrived my food wasn't ready so i paid and waited, not a problem as i waited for my food i looked at my receipt and the charged me $1.56 (Cash Discount fee) so i asked and the lady her answer was "if you paid cash it would have been lower" i would liked to be told about this EXTRA charge before i pay, then some rude lady comes and tells me they always tell the customer NOT TO ME and points at a sticky note on the plastic window that says it. I told her thats not right and people could charge back their Credit Card. Then she rudly said to the lady getting the order ready to cancel the order and voided my charge and told me NEVER COME back. Its not the $1.56 its how can a buisness charge extra without letting people know, and the way they treat customers. We are all struggling with this pandemia. In the past while eating at the restaurant ive heard the rudness to an employee (Carlos) who always gave us GREAT service, telling him you made the mistake now you have to pay for it, at the time i told the cashier or manager that wasnt right and offer to pay but she laugh and said she was joking. Now the way this lady talked to me yesterday was so wrong. Not only they charge extra but they suggest TIPs, FOR WHAT? This little Nica Fritanga GEM is FREAKING AMAZING!!! Introduced to my wife and I via another Yelp Elite member, and boy oh boy, was it awesome!!! The first time we had it - it was take out and I saw how much food there was for the price - i was simply blown away. Freaking delicious - from the Carne Asada, Gallo Pinto (fried rice and beans) and the Fried Cheese.. Ohhh!!! We were in heaven!!! So, the following week - we just had to have it and we live in Palm Beach, so decided to take a drive down to meet our friends and have breakfast there. And again, I was blown away because I was able to check out the menu and saw the food selection for myself as well as the prices and WOW!!! $5 - $10 full breakfast meals which are typically unheard of! I literally loved every minute of it - and this time I ordered a Cacao drink which reminded me of the way my family makes it. It's not a very large place and it does get pretty packed - but I promise you will not be disappointed. We loved it so much that we went again the following day and even ordered (2) huge orders for a party which the food was a major hit! in fact, it was gone within the hour - So you know it was GOOD! We ordered through UberEats and are very disappointed. We ordered two of the carne asadas MediumRare and they are completely raw and cold on the inside. We didn't even get one of the sides that is supposed to come with the meals. The pico de gallo has big chunks of tomatoes and onions, so instead of getting a side of pico de gallo, you're getting big pieces of that. We asked for the sweet and she actually charged it as a side order. I also order a mix they have of cantaloupe and OJ. Also disappointed I left the whole drink. It tasted like rotten cantaloupe with bad OJ. We ate the rice and very little meat because we were starving. Will never revisit. Some of food are already prepared and ready to eat. Had the beef stew with, sweet plantain and lettuce, carrot salad was delicious. You have the option to order white or rice and beans. I highly recommend the beef stew. I order a pudding was tasty. If you in the area must do, prices average $10.00. I went recently and order the fried fish ( snapper) with pinto de gallo ( rice)and tostones, we also order the fried chicken with tostone.
