If you order from the window your coffee and pastel youre in and out and it's usually good Breakfast $10 for steak, 2 eggs, potatoes or grits, and Cuban butter tostada. I love the La Carreta Miramar location; this was my first time at this location, and I was excited to go thinking that it would be just as good. However, my experience here was not the same. Our waitress was nice but not super attentive. I went with 6 family members for my mom's birthday, and half of us said our food came out cold. This particular location has plenty of seating and a comfortable layout, so rarely ever you'd need to wait to be seated. I always go with Lechon Asado (braised pork) con Moros (black beans and rice) y Maduros (fried plantains), but my family frequently orders the vaca frita (tender braised and seared skirt steak), arroz imperial (yellow rice with chicken, peas, and cheese), croquetas, ropa vieja (stewed shredded beef), chicharron de pollo (deep fried chicken bites), and so many more things. You MUST end your meal with arroz con leche (rice pudding), and an authentic cuban coffee (colada for espresso and sugar, or cortado for espresso with milk)! read more

It was a few yrs prior to Covid that We had eaten here. The last time we had eaten here it was pretty good. I don't know what has happened but this time I was highly disappointed. I had the Masa de puerco which was unseasoned. It was like they took pork out the package and cooked it directly. It wasn't marinated, nor did it have any flavor whatsoever. As my local La Carreta I've come to this specific location multiple times in the past years. Service is always hit or miss depending on the time of the day or if you got to the cafeteria or the main salon. The fried empanadas are always fresh and the coffee always hit the spot. Chicken soup is one of my favorites and always an option specially when I'm sick. The Cuban and media noche sandwiches are often pretty good as well. I'm not a huge fan of the main dishes but the fried chicken chunks with Moro is usually a safe bet. Overall is a good option for breakfast or lunch. read more

Whenever I visit FLL, I am on the prowl for good, authentic Cuban food. I'm pretty sure this fits the bill! My first visit was for lunch. The parking lot was pretty full when I got there, so I parked by their outdoor service window and went in throught a bakery area. I'm embarassed to say it took me days to realize how big the restaurant is. Anyway, I had the arroz con pollo for lunch, expecting a lunch size portion. What I got was huge! Also delicious, with a basket of toasted Cuban bread (I could have gone through 2 or 3 more), followed by cafe con leche. Good service and fast. I went back the next morning to get more cafe con leche (not something I've found in WI, although my local coffee shop owner says it's just a latte - I disagree). Also got an amazing coconut pastry and freshly squeezed orange juice. Heaven. They also had guava and cheese pastries, churros, and empanadas available, but I was trying to be good. Went back the next morning for their Sunday brunch. Great price and nice selection of eggs, meats, pancakes, grits, croquettes, pastries and fresh fruit (some of the best melon I've had all year). Best of all, they pour the cafe con leches from a pitcher. Final stop was for an empanada and my last chance at cafe con leche. There was nothing here that I didn't love. My parents really enjoy their baked empanadas and guava cheese so I go here often. Pastelitos have gotten smaller over time, but they're still delicious. The selection dwindles as you head into the afternoon, so get there early. They still have the best cafe con leche in the area in terms of price, consistency and ease of purchase (park and walk up to the window). I don't know when they started asking if you want sugar or not, but I suppose that's good for those wanting to watch their sugar intake. Although, in my opinion, half the deliciousness is having hella sugar in your cafe con leche. Service has improved from years and years ago when you would need to order in Spanish, but I still kinda miss it. Am I crazy?
