I took my wife here for her Birthday. We'd actually come here for our first date more than 11 years ago and just hadn't found our way back. Accordingly, it seemed like it might be fun to go back. I have handicapped parking plates so I didn't have to experience the Valet rigmarole that everyone seems to complain about... not sure if that's still an issue? We went inside to the reception desk and checked in... seated very quickly at a lovely table in the corner. Decor was quite nice and there was a lot to take in. Our waiter was at our table side very quickly with a gentleman in tow that quickly (and continually for the rest of our meal) filled our water glasses. We placed our drink order and, while we munched on warm rolls and creamy butter, we reviewed the menu. We wound up ordering a seafood appetizer that included oysters, shrimp, crab claws, and so forth. Very large array that was served nicely on a large 2-tiered platter. We managed to demolish the seafood and while I sipped at my old fashioned. Our main courses arrived. I ordered the 14oz bone-in ribeye and my wife settled in the surf and turf (Fillet Mignon and a beautiful lobster tail). We selected truffle fries, creamed spinach, and lobster Mac and cheese as our side dishes. Everything was delicious and prepared and presented carefully and with not a little bit of panache. Our waiter was quick, engaging when called for, and friendly to a fault. Truly a wonderful time. We left absolutely stuffed- after indulging in a small dessert and an espresso. While the bill may have been larger than some people may be willing to pay- it was hedonism at its finest. In my estimation? Money well-spent. We booked a party for 62 guests after consulting with Joy that there (2) Hour cocktail hour is Hearty Seasonal Passed around Hors d'oeuvres and no one will leave hungry! We signed a contract that stated this along with Pasta station and a Charcuterie board that will be replenished which it never was and not a cracker or piece of bread. Little heard to eat blue cheese with your fingers! The hors d'oeuvres tasted good, but they were far from hearty and plentiful. Especially when you see your guests got to Applebee's for snacks!! The party ended at 9:30 and when dessert was being served a 2nd trays of pasta appeared. The manager was clueless as in the contract it stated a certain beer to be served, and they had 2 cases per the bartender and they had to go out and get more. Let's talk about the (2) rude servers one who snapped at me and another who took a tray of meatballs away from people getting some and said NO and walked away to serve others. Guess she realized not enough for everyone. When I called Ricky called me back and he said well I think you were looking for a buffet?? I said NO, the cocktails were the same price as your sit-down dinner and I was told no one will leave hungry and they are far from hearty. He said OHH I will talk to Joy and tell her she should not say it like that!! Also we had a talk about high end drinks not to be served and when I got the bill for $30 drinks it was dismissed too. I was told the bartender will come to me and ask permission. Nothing happened on that. Charlie the waiter was the saving grace to the whole night as he knew how upset I was getting since we had 62 people and 3 wait staff in the beginning that took 3 to 4 drink orders at a time. The place is beautiful, but maybe North Jersey just knows how to treat their customers better and to abide by the contracts that were signed. We hosted our Wedding Dinner at Mohawk House. We were a group of 20 and rented one of their private rooms. I could not say enough good things about my experience with the Mohawk Team from beginning to end. Michelle R helped from beginning to end. She was super patient at the beginning since our date was not final, after that she answered all my questions (which were a lot!), she was super prompt in her responses, and she was super accommodating. I love working with her and she made things so easy for me! Rachael, the owner, was also a pleasure to work with! She took the time to give us a tour of the spaces available and was super accommodating with any menu needs we had for our event. Kathie, our server, was the best! After waiting for this place to reopen and taking a long, traffic riddled drive, I was quite disappointed. I began with an old-fashioned in the main dining area, beautiful with vaulted ceilings and a large fireplace for these cold nights. For an appetizer I ordered lobster bisque. The presentation was very nice as they poured it from the pot however, it was more like soup as it lacked any creaminess and it was just warm enough. For the entrée I went with the New York strip, fingerling potatoes and asked for a glass of House Cabernet. The steak was very well seasoned and cooked just right (although I was given the wrong sauce) and the potatoes were also very good however the house wine was terrible. Pacific something or other. I was full at this point and decided against dessert. We celebrated my Pop Pop's 50th birthday/Law Enforcement Retirement at Mohawk House because it came highly recommended from a friend. Our reservation was for 7:30pm. The restaurant is not a hop, skip, and a jump away. We drove 27 miles, about 40 mins from my parent's house. Unfortunately, there was no valet so cars were parked haphazardly blocking other cars in. We were asked if we wanted to dine indoor or outdoor. We decided to dine indoor. The dining area was absolutely exquisite. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately, the servers and busboys kept grazing my chair as they worked the floor. We started off with a complimentary bread basket that came with pre-sliced butter. We used a QR Code to see the menu. Much to our surprise they ran out of a lot the items that piqued our interest. For our drinks we ordered Beer, Cabernet, Pomegranate Martini, and a Esperanza Mezcal Pear Margarita. My mom didn't care for her margarita so she asked for a glass of Cab instead. Our server, Sara was polite and incredibly patient. For such a classy restaurant Mohawk House fell short of ensuring that we had a great dining experience. The food did not meet our expectations and left us disappointed in several ways. Let's get into the apps. We started off with the Lamb Pops, Crab Cake, and two orders of the Fried Calamari. The lamb pops were medium instead medium rare. The crab cake wasn't bad but was on the smaller side. The fried calamari was not good. It was overcooked and bland. The oil was old. We asked for a side of marinara to try to combat the flavor. Even with all of the fancy elements added to the dish it was still a miss. For dinner we placed two orders of the 40oz Dry Aged Tomahawk (One Medium Rare and One Medium Well). Two orders of the Maine Lobster Mac N' Cheese, Brussel Sprouts, Roasted Carrots, and Creamed Spinach. Our orders did not come out at the same time. My parents tomahawk did not include the Red Wine Sauce they ordered. We waited an additional ten minutes for the wrong steak to come out. Instead of the tomahawk steak we received the Porterhouse For Two which was medium rare. We waited additional time for them to bring out the correct order. Once we received our tomahawk it was also cooked medium rare. Once again we had to send back the steak. Unfortunately the steak was underwhelming and lacked seasoning. No salt. No pepper. No flavor. To be honest we should've kept the porterhouse because it looked meatier, came with sauce on the side, and onion rings on top. The Maine Lobster Mac N' Cheese was drier than the Sahara Desert. It certainly did not look like what was depicted on the menu. It lacked creaminess and flavor. Our Brussels Sprouts were plain and didn't have any cranberries or pecans as stated on the menu. My mom's Creamed Spinach was was inedible. I've never had a side of creamed spinach that lacked cream, garlic, or cheese. It was more like sautéed spinach. Boston Market makes better creamed spinach even on their worst day. We sent back the creamed spinach for Grilled Asparagus. Sara informed us that they ran out of asparagus. My mom opted for the Sautéed Mushrooms which tasted like they were drench in a bath of black pepper. My dad said his Roasted Carrots were just ok. Albeit Sara was a doll and very apologetic we wanted to speak to the manager to discuss the inconsistencies in our meal, items coming out late, as well as the lack of items readily available. She asked if she could buy us a round of drinks. Everyone declined the drink offer except for my mom. She had the chocolate martini. Sara surprised my dad with several desserts. She gave my dad the 7 Layer Chocolate Cake. She brought the table a sample of The Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Molten Cake, Classic Crème Brûlée, Apple Crumb Tart, and the Signature Pumpkin Cake In A Jar. The deserts were not good. Either too much salt, over cooked, undercooked, and too hard to enjoy. We came here to celebrate a major milestone and yet we were unable to enjoy my dad's birthday as a family. The manager never came out to acknowledge my mom, but rather spoke to a family sitting across from us. You'd think that he would've been more professional than that. After spending $450 this was definitely not a night to write home or sing about. I really hope that the manager reads my review because for such a classy upscale restaurant we had a real lackluster experience. This certainly is not a place I'd recommend or be proud to say that I've had the pleasure to eat at. I cannot and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Mohawk house has changed quite a bit since they closed the restaurant to open their other restaurant Industry. This was one of my favorite restaurants in the past, prior to its closings. We had an amazing server who definitely took her time with us and was patient with us as we were waiting for the rest of our party. They changed the bread recipe which is a huge epic fail. The food is good but i am definitely looking forward to them being where they were prior to closings. The bar area was closed. New to the area, we waited for months for a special occasion to go to the Mohawk House. 65th birthday/retirement/anniversary. When we arrived on a Wednesday evening , there was no one at the front of the house. After waiting a few minutes, a man with a flannel shirt came out of the dining room to greet us. Yes, we have reservations. There were four other tables with people seated. The service was good. Our waiter was pleasant. The food was a huge disappointment. Our shrimp cocktail was flavorless and not chilled. The crab cake was average, not great. Our $135 Porterhouse for two was tough and flavorless. It was served in a "cast iron" type pan which allowed it to continue to cook. After trying the tough, no flavor strip side, we tried the tenderloin side which was ordered medium rare, but was now well done because it continued to cook. We ate a total of four pieces of a $135 steak. The mashed potatoes were not hot and the roasted mushrooms were served with peppers and onions. The only good part of the meal was the salad and the bread. The atmosphere is very nice, but an almost empty dining room wasn't a good sign. The bill totaled $344 before the tip which would have been fine, if the food was good, but it was not. We'll never go back. read more

Let me start off by saying that the address google provided a wrong. Our server kindly told us it hasn't been updated in 2 yrs. However, the restaurant is about 5 mins from where google sends you. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the dressing seemed house made. Prior to our meal coming, we were presented with warm bread with sea salt on top and butter on the table. This bread was perfect (I had a few). As an appetizer I ordered the crab cake and my friend had the shrimp cocktail. Her shrimp were huge and de-vined. The crabcake appetizer was great, atop of sweet corn and I was able to share it. Everyone's meal came out as requested and everyone said how good, juicy and tender their steak was. I tasted the garlic mashed potatoes and they were amazing. Perfectly seasoned, not too much garlic, just perfect. For a drink we had the watermelon mojito with sprite instead of club and it had chunks of sweet watermelon in the drink. It was tasty. For dessert we had the creme Brulee as well as the Oreo cake. The Mohawk House is a beautiful romantic place with a lot of old time European charm. We came for a Sunday lunch in the early fall. The pear martinis are to die for here! I had the pleasure of dining at the Mohawk House for a wedding rehearsal dinner earlier this month and the food as well as service was superb to say the least. We had a private room upstairs and personal waitstaff for wine and food, and the lovely gentlemen helping out with the wine, were more than generous with the pours. All of the food was amazing, and all of our steaks were cooked to perfection. The star of the show was the dessert, the dark chocolate sea salt cake, which was the perfect mix of sweet and salty and warm. I would never be able to afford this restaurant normally, so being able to experience the wonderful food and atmosphere for a rehearsal dinner was a real treat. read more

We went 2 years ago for my birthday and again for NYE this year. I have to say either there is a new chef or new food distributor because everything was amazing! From the dinner rolls, to the surf & turf, the cocktails were delicious. The coffee was great and the dessert was amazing. A little golf up the road and 4 of us stop for drinks & dinner last evening. Have been here before and had some bar food previously but after drinks we are heading to the dining room. Christine behind the bar was very nice and she had a great pour on all of our liquor and wines. NO bread was offered or presented not sure if that is a miss or they just don't offer any bread. Prices are high so they better deliver. Wine was ordered 140% mark up on the bottle of wine (SMH) We started off with 2 orders of Eastern oysters which were cold and fresh. The Fried Calamari was not Italian style but more of a vinegar type finish. Large fresh hot not chewy. Extremely disappointing were the 4 Jumbo shrimp cocktail which were not snap when you eat them but almost to the point of mushy. The server stated their cocktail sauce didn't need anything it was "HOT". It tasted like bland ketchup and lemon juice and even the side of horseradish couldn't elevate this dish. Entrees: A Australian lobster tail was good as it was fresh not much you can do with it to ruin it. The Filet was good but ordered medium and came out very rare while the Two NY Strips wish Peppercorn sauce also were undercooked to Rare ordered medium. Flavor on the meat was OK nothing spectacular. Sides of Loaded Baked Potato $12.00 each They do have brass ones. The potatoes were NUKED definitely not slow cooked in an oven, so they were hard on inside but hot. The side of sauteed Asparagus was good. 3 Espressos were served & mine was ice cold not quite understanding how Espresso can be served Cold? All and all the bar area is great & Christine was fantastic. Food was mediocre at best and pricey to say the least. Top Quality ingredients yet not getting the cooking done properly is unacceptable.
