I usually try not to be picky or over the top, but I have also worked in the food industry along with grubhub and other delivery platforms. I have gotten countless mistakes on each of my orders and I've had the last straw. I asked for certain sauces on the side since I usually like to put it on to my own liking. When I ask for it light, there is barely anything & even regularly i feel it is overdone. Once I got the food delivered, I take the bowl out to see it drowned in sauce. I am honestly disgusted that there was no consideration towards the special instructions which were provided. Even if it wasn't possible, there could have been a means of communication to let me know prior to assumption that I would like my food soaked in excess sauce to the point I won't be able to taste anything else. This newer, hal-al establishment has a well renovated interior and serves average, chipotle-esque cuisine. In one word, the food was "bland." There was absolutely nothing special or noteworthy. The staff was incredibly stingy when serving. I had requested double meat (chicken + steak) and was served the equivalent of a half serving. Initially I was quite disappointed however after I began eating, I was thankful I did not have more of the plastic, undercooked meats in my bowl. The cashier was nice and did not charge me for my drink. I would rather have gone to hot peppers which is more flavorful and provides a significantly larger portion size for the same price. read more

I saw this place was trending on Instagram so of course had to check it out. I skimmed a few of the reviews and saw the birria tacos seemed to be a popular item and I have been meaning to try them do even more of an incentive to go. Let's start with the place - Moho's is really clean on the inside but the place gets packed quickly and there's little to no social distancing (6ft apart!!). I passed by on a Friday night and saw the line was out the door (also with no social distancing) and then tried again on a Tuesday evening (no line outside but there was no social distancing inside). For a new restaurant during COVID, they really need to attempt to enforce social distancing. I highly doubt people will mind waiting for food a little longer if this is enforced. When you get to the counter, it's set up is similar to chipotle. As I made my way down the line people were virtually on top of me and I had no choice but to get closer to the person in front of me since the staff behind the counter kept trying to get the next person in line's order. Pre-COVID this wouldn't bother me, but again, we're still in the middle of a pandemic. Anyway, onto the food. I ordered the birria taco meal and a bowl with chicken. The taco shells seemed stale to me and were falling apart by the time I ate them. The meat itself was dry and wasn't very flavorful. You really need to eat them with the consume to get the taste. The consume was good and very oily - definitely eat these at a table with plenty of napkins nearby! The rice bowl was a lot better and I actually enjoyed it more than chipotle but I felt like the portion sizes were a little small compared to chipotle. I also ordered chips and guac on the side. I loved the chips. They weren't soft and thing but rather on the thicker side and so very crunchy! These were super fresh. They also give a lot of chips. The paper bag was almost filled. However, I know the combo for chips and guac is $3 but the cups for guac is really small and the staff don't fill them up the way chipotle does. For chips this good, I wouldn't mind paying extra for guac. Overall, I don't think I'd come back in here until the crowds die down or until social distancing is strictly enforced, especially at the counter. I came here a few hours ago with my bestie who lives in the neighborhood. We've been wanting to eat birria and were happy to see a place opened up in a convenient location. Upon arrival, there was a line but it moved quickly. The staff was super friendly and you can tell they want you to have a good experience. The place was also very clean, no indoor seating unfortunately but understandable, and hand sanitizer was available. Someone actually came inside the place WITHOUT a mask (gross) and the staff was QUICK to offer them a disposable mask to wear. I really appreciated seeing this! Food: 2.5/5 Me and my bestie ordered the birria taco meal - comes with 4 birria tacos, the consome, and a salad. We also got chips and guacamole. The birria tacos lacked flavor and the meat was dry and stringy - just didn't taste fresh. They came with 2 tortillas each but the tortilla on the outside tasted stale, like these tacos were assembled beforehand and slightly warmed up before serving. I ended up just using the inner shell however it was hard to keep everything inside. I've had birria tacos from a food truck queens and these unfortunately are not comparable - again, they tasted like they were sitting out for a hot minute. The chips were too salty and the guacamole had a weird consistency (watery?), didn't taste fresh, and also lacking flavor - it didn't have the body/texture chipotle guacamole has. I know this place is not chipotle but just mentioning for comparison purposes. The salad was also kind of disappointing - it was a LOT of chopped up cilantro with dressing. Flavor wise the dressing was good but who wants to eat a bowl of cilantro? The best part of the meal was the consome. It was perfectly seasoned, warm, and the broth is what really made this meal not terrible. They also pack everything to go but they do not give you any utensils or napkins which was really disappointing. It was a nice day out and my bestie and I ate outside - only to see there were no forks, spoons, or napkins. How do you expect people to eat a salad without a fork and soup without a spoon? I've worked in food service for a few years before and i know the drill - you either include it with the takeout order, ask if the customers will need when they order, or keep utensils/napkins available for the customers to grab themselves. But no one asked us if we needed any of that, nor did they include it in the bag or put them outside for us to grab. Birria tacos are a messy meal... Overall, would I return? When you only eat halal, sometimes it feels like you're missing out on yummy food. I was so excited to find a halal place that had birria tacos after moving back to NYC and let me tell me they did not disappoint! I've had legit birria tacos when living in Houston so I was afraid Moho wouldn't measure up, but they definitely do. If they can do birria tacos right, everything else is a no brainer. If you come here, you should order the Berria Tacos. It's really good but unfortunately, it's the only impressively item I got. Here is my full review: Entering the restaurant, the owner was extremely welcoming, polite, and professional- as he greeted all his new customers on the grand opening. The facility was clean, and the staff professional. I ordered the Berria Tacos and the Mexican bowl. The Mexican bowl was a 3/10, compared to other Halal Mexican restaurants in NYC. There is another Halal Mexican restaurant that serves better for cheaper (at least maybe it's just their lunch deals) very close to this restaurant. I was very unimpressed with the bowl overall. However, I was very surprised by the Berria Taco. The Berria Tacco was a solid 7/10 and has great potential if they work on it. I was disappointed picking up the tortilla, as a signature of the Berria tacos is to grill the tortilla with the broth to make it crispy. Other than that, their Berria itself was made really well. I tried other Berria locations in NYC ( non-halal) and even among those, it's pretty up there. I think it was a little too pricy, however, it is the only halal Berria place in NYC and it's a good one at that! I hope the owner focuses on the Berria more, and he gets more business from that in the future. If Berria was their flagship Item I'd give this restaurant a 5/5, but I feel like it's not. The food was good and the service was great especially considering the fact that all the employees were working in a store with no AC during a heat wave... My husband and I love coming here but when I came in yesterday I couldn't help but feel concerned about the health/safety of the employees that had to work in these extreme and borderline unsafe conditions. I also walked past the store later in the day and saw some of the same employees working which means a lot of them were in those conditions for more than 4 or 5 hours. Management would be lucky if no one passed out but I don't think it's fair to even put employees in that position in the first place. read more

Got chicken, both beans, onions & peppers, pico, guac, corn, cilantro, onions with chipotle mayo Ordered elote and guac & chips. Before I get into the taste.... There were 3 people upfront fulfilling orders (2girls and a guy). They seemed to be on it, getting it done. Sadly when I went, they seemed to be in the weeds. It wasn't their fault though. They were waiting to replenish food from BOH. Several items ended up empty which made them freeze in their tracks. Especially waiting on chicken. Sad the BOH couldn't keep up or were just slacking. Being a chef...having a backup ready and another only a few minutes behind if I need it...is imperative. Anyway, the elote was good. I prefer to have a little kick in mine but still it was nice. The salad bowl was perfect. I couldn't finish it but enjoyed it. The 1st time I had their guac I threw it out. I was skeptical trying it again. I'm glad I did. This time it tasted completely different than the 1st time I had it. So there are consistency issues there. Hopefully moving fwd it will taste more like this. Anyway, I'm just happy the food tasted so much better this time than my 1st time. Their BOH needs to ensure the food is ready so people aren't waiting. So during this whole pandemic I've been hearing about the famous Birria tacos in Jackson heights but refused to eat haram. Then i heard from a friend that this Moho place was serving amazing halal Birria and I knew I had to try. I ordered 6 of the classic for my whole family and let me tell you no regrets ! It was sooo good everyone was licking their hands all the way up to their elbows. Service was really quick and packaging was great for takeout. Moho Mexico specializes in Mexican inspired dishes. Due to COVID there was no indoor dining and there isn't an outdoor dining option . It's completely take out. You can smell the food as soon as you step onto the block! We specifically came to try the Birria Tacos. Luckily we came on a day they serve them. Birria Tacos are only served Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The staff is friendly and answer any questions you might have. We ordered birria tacos, a chicken and corn quesadilla, 3 regular tacos and the churro . The Birria Tacos have a 10-15 min wait and were pretty good. I wish the Birria Tacos had more spice, but they were still yummy. The quesadilla was dope and my favorite dish hands down. The 3 tacos ordered were chicken, steak and ground beef. The tacos were tasty. The churro was filled with caramel and freaking delicious!! I would come back for the churros , build your own quesadilla, and the great customer service. I used to love this place. The birria pie WAS my favorite but it's kinda heavy so I don't order that very often. I ordered it again yesterday but man it was a lot more salty than I remember. It's so salty that I couldn't even taste anything. The bowl was still okay but also a lot saltier than before. I tried saving the it by scraping off the meat and used the consumme to make a soup. After mixing what is about 3 oz of birria with about 1.5 cup of water it was still very salty. After reading some other reviews here it seems like that's a common issue. I probably will not order again in the near future until I see a change of opinion in the reviews here. read more

I had to come to this place when I found out they had Birria tacos since i have been wanting to try these tacos for a while. I went after a few days they opened. The staff seems friendly, but the wait was so long. We got there when they opened for lunch and were the first to order, no one was there but us, and we had to wait about 40-45 minutes for our order to come out. We took the order to-go and when we got home to have these tacos, it wasn't the best, but definitely tasty. We got two orders of the Birria taco meal. An order of the Birria taco mean consists of 3 tacos, consommé, and some salad. We also got 2 pineapple sodas, and nachos with guacamole and cheese dip. My favorite out of them all was the consommé and pineapple soda. It was delicious. The tacos were good, but too soft.. I was expecting it to have some kind of crunch to it. The space seemed nice and clean. Would I come again? I don't think I would if I was going to have to wait as long as I did the first time especially if there is no line. Set up is very Chipotle-esque except guac is included - woohoo. Prices are fair for the Bell Blvd scene. I ordered for pick up and noted how heavy the bowl was. Everything had good flavor, especially the chicken. They do need to use 2 tortillas for the tacos however. New Mexican spot opened on Bell Boulevard AND the serve Birria Tacos!! I was excited to find place nearby that sells them! The restaurant is very clean and has lots of staff who were all wearing face masks. I decided to share the Birria Taco Meal with my daughter. The meal consists of 3 tacos, a bowl of consommè and a salad. I gather that they premake the birria tacos because the moment I placed my order the worker reached in the back and grabbed my meal all ready to go.. They offer a variety of condiments including cilantro, chopped red onion, spicy red onions, sour cream etc.. Checked out with the Cashier and paid 14+for the meal. There was a tent set up outdoors but seating wasn't set up so we took our meal to the car to eat. I really wanted to love this but I was a bit underwhelmed. Although the meat had a nice mild flavor I kept biting into chunks of fat. The corn tortilla was a bit limp, missing that crispy pan grilled element. The consommè was ok but again had large chunks of fat pieces in it. I found the food to be luke warm at best so I would suggest asking them to make your birria tacos at the time you place order and not accept the premade meal from the back) We both passed on eating the salad (bowl of cilantro or maybe even just parsley). Overall food is pretty fresh and flavorful, however service was a bit slow. There were 2 customers ahead of me and it took 10 mins before they took my order. I got the chicken tacos, which were overall great but i found 2 bones in my taco-- so just be careful... I think its cause this place is new so they are still getting the hang of things.
