The Birria tacos are still great. Two updates: 1. I think they changed the container they serve the broth in. Instead of the larger container that I usually get, this one was served in a smaller plastic container (comparable to those that hold condiments). I was a little disappointed, as it wasn't enough broth for the 3 tacos 2. I'm glad they replaced the side of turnips with sweet crispy onions. It goes really well with the tacos! read more

Oh my goodness! Why have I not tried Moho Mexican Grill! My husband and I were looking for something for dinner for NYE. We were craving anything birria. We got the birria pie, ground beef nachos, and steak burrito to share. We are obsessed. The birria pie was thick and juicy, meat seasoned to perfection. If I had the stomach I would eat the whole thing myself. Everything was fresh and hot for pickup. The nachos were loaded and the burrito was super stuffed. Really feel like I got my moneys worth. This spot is hit or miss, but is usually a hit. I have tried their quesadillas, loaded nachos, burritos and bowls. They are more often than not prepared very well with fresh ingredients and the right proportions. The quesadillas and nachos are particularly recommendable. The protein selections I tried were the steak, ground beef and chicken and they were all tasty. One drawback is this restaurant's consistency. While the dishes are usually prepared well, sometimes the ingredients are not fresh or the dishes are not quite there in terms of taste. True to my previous review that this was the only knock and since it is no longer a factor I am upping the stars to 5 here and my earlier review still stands. Moho Mexican Grill was good but I would only recommend it for the birria tacos. The burrito bowls, quesadillas, tacos, etc. are all quite average. The birria tacos are a bit on the saltier end but the broth is very flavorful and the tacos are packed with meat. The price point is a little high but it is halal and located in a great area as well. I was in the mood for some elote so I searched up the closest location with the best reviews. Sorry I didn't take a photo of the burrito or the bowl I purchased, both items were delicious. My friend sent me a post by 5boroughfoodie on IG of their birria tacos and I went the same night. I got the birria pie and it was ready in 20 mins (faster than the grubhub estimate). I have been to three different birria places excluding this one (taco truck in Jackson Heights, taco truck in Valley Stream, and a storefront in Bushwick) but this was by far the best taste-wise. The restaurant seems to be a create your own experience similar to Chipotle which was a red flag for me because I felt like that would be so in authentic, but I'm glad I tried it. They use cheese which not every birria taco place does, but I think it ties it all together. I took a star away because of the consume portion of the meal. It's delicious but when placing the order its listing says "comes with 2 sides of 8oz birria broth" when in reality they're probably 3oz in each cup. And since the broth is in a tiny sauce container, no meat can fit. But it is marketed as broth and not consume so I can't complain that its meatless but it's definitely not the size I was expecting. Leaning more towards 3.5 stars I came here with my bf two weeks ago to grab a quick lunch. I decided to get the Birria tacos- I never had them before so I was really excited. They had a combo, 3 tacos with a small consome for $12.50. I think they raised their prices recently because I saw some other reviews saying this combo was $9-10 a few months back. They brought out the little brown container with my order straight from the back so I knew it was already pre-made. Because of that, the taco was a little soggy by the time I got home. However, I still really enjoyed it! Dipped in the consome, it was amazing. The consome was on the saltier side though. (I did also see some pictures where the birria tacos had two tortilla shells, but they only use one now.) My bf got a chicken bowl ($9), which was mediocre. We both agreed that chipotle is better. Moho Mexican Grill is a Chipotle-like restaurant that recently opened on Bell Boulevard. Assembly-line Mexican food largely depends on how well one chooses ingredients. We tried a chicken bowl and a steak bowl. The steak was a bit tough and chewy, while the chicken was more enjoyable -- typical of these places. The grilled peppers here are pretty good. It would be nice if Moho could label all the available options. Moho also offers beef birria tacos: 3 tacos and a small cup of consomé for $9.39 ($10.22 after tax). These tacos are meant to eaten with the consomé, like a (invented-in-America) French dip sandwich. The restaurant includes some sliced radishes for crunch and a couple of lime wedges to bring out more acidity. Moho uses a leaner cut of meat than Birria-Landia, and as a result, Moho's beef is a little drier and the consomé a little less greasy. Moho's consomé is less tart, too. Nonetheless, the combination was very tasty and satisfying. We waited about 5 minutes for our order on a recent weekday afternoon. While I enjoy Birria-Landia's mulitas a bit more, I would happily return to Moho Mexican Grill for a birria taco fix. --- Note for 12/13/2020 order: In our last birria taco order, each taco came with single tortilla shell, not the double shells as pictured in my photo. I saw this new spot on Yelp last night and they have birria tacos so I told myself I had to make a trip here from Long Island today to try it. My first time trying birria tacos was from a food truck in Jackson Heights, which was amazing and ever since, I've been craving it. I arrived around 11:10 right when they opened and ordered 2 orders of birria tacos. It was about a 10 minute wait. All the meats, rice & veggies looked fresh and the staff were friendly. As for the birria tacos, they were only okay. The meat was very dry, tough and bland. They really did stuff the tacos with a lot of meat, which is not always a good thing. The broth was extremely salty and the tortillas was a bit soggy. Each taco was double wrapped too. You're gonna need lots of water, napkins and perhaps a big appetite to finish a whole order in one sitting. My cousin came by to watch the game and surprised me with this magical feast. I've had Birria tacos and burritos before but never in a pizza/quesadilla shape. The flavor of the meat was incredible you really tasted all the spices that go into make the beef, cinnamon included much to my wife's dismay. The consommé really added to the flavor of the food and the spicy pickled red onions were next level. Wonderful staff! I've been meaning to stop by here, it was worth it. The menu is pretty simple and straightforward, i got the 3 small tacos and it was more than enough for little old me. It came with two small sides of consomé. The amount was underwhelming and wished they had given us more of it. Since Moho broke out on the scene like Nacho Libre and his iconic "eagle dive" , their tacos have been great and also the big PLUS is that it's HALAL (for those who don't know , that means permissible for "MOSLEMS") so you know your meat has been humanely dispatched. The ingredients here don't taste like someone forgot that the stove was still on and are fresh. You can add as many toppings as you'd like without qualms--even if you overflow your bowl. Their chipotle mayo is to die for and even their cheese tastes freshly grated.
