    The Mac Daddy
    Jonathan R.

This was my second time going to Mojeaux's. The first time I went I had the shrimp poboy. It was really good. This time I was interested in one of the smoked menu items. After studying the menu for a minute I decided to go with the The Mac Daddy. It's a smoked turkey leg cover with mac and cheese, green onions, bacon bits and bbq sauce. As usual, this was takeout order. The meal came in an aluminum container. This meant the meal was just as hot as it was when I left the restaurant. When I opened the container the turkey leg covered with max and cheese looked like a piece of art. I could tell I was not going to finish this in one sitting. The turkey was huge. The food was amazing. The smoked flavor ran through the meat. The meat was so tender it practically was falling off the bone. The mac and cheese was was excellent as well. It tasted like it was homemade, made especially for a cookout or family reunion. The green onion added a real nice touch of distinct flavor. I give Mojeaux's 5 stars. This is a unique restaurant with fresh ideas. I would recommend you try them.

Unique menu - smoked turkey leg? Yes please! Tried the Louisiana Monday leg, which had a unique and tasty red beans and rice with thin cut conecuh sausage. Delicious! Others tried the lamb burger and crab cake sandwich. Wish they would let you choose the side, but it comes with fries only. They were good but some people don't care for fries and the sides were the same price (a little pricey at $6 each). A lot to choose from. Prices were a bit steep; more dinner prices and no lunch menu(at least on Saturday). Portions were reasonable/not too large but for the price we expected to have enough for leftovers. Atmosphere was cozy, but service was a bit thin. Perhaps someone called out as the waiter was the only one on the floor and he did his best with the tables. It just took a while for the food and dessert. Dessert - was worth the wait and would get 6 out of 5 stars. Fantastic bread pudding. The sauce was to die for. The peach cobbler was good as well. Want to try the beignets next time but don't know that I can skip ordering the bread pudding! There were some tables outside of the weather is nice. Food was closer to 5 star but service time and prices make it a strong 4 for us.

Location, Service, Food, Ambience... All highly rated from me. This is a black-owned gem of restaurant right here! First, the unique menu is the primary and most important reason to visit and get your eat on. We loved the turkey leg plate options; don't let the price fool you, You are getting bang for your buck, I promise! And I can't let this review end without highlighting that d*** good bread pudding... best I have ever had! And check this part out... they had ran out of green tomatoes to make the Fried Green Tomato appetizer, and I so wanted to try them...at first I was like well another reason to get back over here soon! But then, the very polite and friendly server we had told us that they had sent someone to get more green tomatoes, so we could order FGT after all! Not many restaurants will go out of their way like that! Let me tell you, them FGT was hot, fresh and banging... so worth the wait! Also, we didn't finish our turkey leg plates because they substantial, but I ate on mine for the next three days following! They give you an aluminum pan as a to-go box so you can reheat in the oven! I live about 2 hours from this restaurant, but I will be making an effort to get back to Mobile and bring others to this amazing spot! Keep it up! Keep it Open! I love supporting "us"!

I could go on and on about how good the food was. How exceptionally good the service was. Oh and did I say, how good the food was. We got there right at opening time. So the employees and food was very fresh. If you have a healthy appetite and don't mind spending a little extra, every bite is worth it. Definitely hate they are closed on Sundays, cause we had planned on stopping back by in our way out of town. Certainly putting this spot on our stop in list. Til next time...

ExcellentService, menu has many items eye catching, cost is perfect for the size meal you receive. Definitely a keep and will return again. Unsure if there is another Cajun restaurant in mobile this good.

I travel through Louisiana Alabama and Mississippi for work and I gotta say this is the best gumbo I've ever had. Very rich and great portions. The service was great. And all in all It was a great stop and I'm glad I went here.

If you want to get full, this is a place to try. The food has a great taste and you get plenty. Friendly and helpful service and we liked the TVs on the wall. A little more upgrades and it would be an excellent place to hang out.

This is what $16.00 worth of fried ribs look like from this place. Mind you, this is the second time this has happened. The first time I ordered "pick up", in the car on the way home I realized they were bad so I called and brought it to their attention. They apologized. Months have passed and decided to give them another try..... not sure how someone can pick these up and actually decide to plate them and think it's ok. Not only do they look unappetizing but they were also hard as rocks. A complete waste of $16.00. I'll never choose to spend my money at this establishment again.

Outstanding! Wait staff (Clinton) was funny, made yummy recommendations. The food was out of this world! The location doesn't look great from the outside, but go anyway! Literally everything we ate was authentic and delicious!

Absolutely AMAZING! You must try this spot out if you're in the area. We were able to split the "Mac Daddy" turkey leg. Service was great & so was the ambiance. They played jazz music.. it was quite enjoyable.

Had the pleasure of eating here on my last day in mobile and let me tell you it didn't disappoint. The young man serving us who I thought was cocky about the turkey legs being filling didn't lie!!! It was very delicious. Will definitely be back on my next visit in mobile

    Do they have a bar?

I haven’t dined in. They have a bar where you pick up orders but I don’t remember if people were drinking at the bar.

I was in town for work and came here three times in two days. I've lived in New Orleans so I know good fresh boiled crawfish and this place delivers. Very flavorful crawfish. I got regular level of spiciness and it was plenty spicy so I don't need to know what it tastes like if you order it extra spicy. Not only that, but their shrimp is freshly fried and tastes fresh and from the gulf. And the okra was hot and freshly fried too. Delicious meal. Service is friendly and nice, and food usually came out under ten minutes from when I ordered. Got charged different amounts each time I went but it wasn't a big difference.

Not over seasoned or over cooked and the meat was so tender falling off the bone. Broccoli, boiled eggs, potatoes, corn, and sausage were all delicious and seasoned perfectly. A ton of food at a really great value. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Plenty of inside seating and tons of drink options along with deserts options. I will definitely be back next time I am in the port city.

One star for the hush puppies…read more One star for our friendly server. Sadly, I can only give two stars to Wintzell's House in Mobile, Alabama. I should've listened to all of the advice from the locals on Reddit, who warned me that this place has fallen on harder times. The char grilled oysters were funky. I ate them but worried as I ate them. The hush puppies earned a star. They were pretty tasty. The were my favorite thing on the table. However, we asked for butter, and our server gave us packets of butter substitute. Doesn't this restaurant have real butter? The gumbo was fairly tasteless and also, they had chopped up whatever seafood was in there so finely that it all just turned into mush. If there was any seafood in there, I sure didn't taste it. The West Indies crab salad was a shocking disappointment. It was a scoop of crab meat, which they ruined by mixing it up with mayo. That's it. An ice cream scoop of canned crab meat mixed with heavy mayo. It's like they didn't even try. The bread pudding left very little impression. It was a little rectangular square. Our server misunderstood us when we said we wanted it topped with ice cream, and served the bread pudding alongside a bowl of five scoops of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. It was a very odd dessert situation, but we worked our way through it. Our server was an amusing fella. He kinda/sorta made the evening. Overall, I'm glad I went so I could know for myself. However, I do wish that I had listened to the locals on Reddit.

It's got a little kick, aka spicy. We had plenty of gumbos on our RTJ trails trip and this is probably the best. Raw oysters (wild caught) - raw, the best way to enjoy good and fresh oysters. The right size too. So so good. Mahi Mahi salad - fish and shrimps were overcooked and dried Shrimp & Grits - it was ok. I wished there were more sauce. And those shrimps were tiny. Cajun seafood pasta - flavor was ok. Scallops were overcooked and tough. Redfish Bienville - fish and shrimps were overcooked.
