So I came in and the guy behind the counter who I am absolutely sure I was bothering said "you can sit over there" pointing to a table in the front. Really unbelievable how specially for the prices of this place. After sitting here came over and said "what you want". Again I guess I was bothering him. I said I will have the fried ribs. He said "as an appetizer or as a dinner"? I said what is the difference? Meaning the dinner comes with either a larger amount and maybe sides. He said "there's nothing different". Made me think, then why did he ask if it's an appetizer or dinner? The gumbo was delicious. Great flavor. The fried ribs were good too. Could have been marinated a little longer but they did a pretty good job with them. The real off putting part of the evening was the waiter. He was a kid but had such a bad attitude. The only thing I can guess is this is the son of the owner and he was told he had to work tonight when he didn't want to. If that's not the case that he needs to be fired immediately because he just was such a prick. He literally dropped the tab on the table and never asked if I wanted a tea refill. He would talk to be across the room asking "is all good"? For heavens sake the hardest part of a restaurant is getting the food right. They need to get better more attentive help here. Fire the son! One last thing. Before I signed the check, I left my phone in the check on the table asked him where the bathroom is, across the restaurant of course since he doesn't come over. He pointed over in the corner. So when I was in the bathroom I came back . Apparently he decided to take my drink away and well I guess I was done. This was my second time going to Mojeaux's. The first time I went I had the shrimp poboy. It was really good. This time I was interested in one of the smoked menu items. After studying the menu for a minute I decided to go with the The Mac Daddy. It's a smoked turkey leg cover with mac and cheese, green onions, bacon bits and bbq sauce. As usual, this was takeout order. The meal came in an aluminum container. This meant the meal was just as hot as it was when I left the restaurant. When I opened the container the turkey leg covered with max and cheese looked like a piece of art. I could tell I was not going to finish this in one sitting. The turkey was huge. The food was amazing. The smoked flavor ran through the meat. The meat was so tender it practically was falling off the bone. The mac and cheese was was excellent as well. It tasted like it was homemade, made especially for a cookout or family reunion. The green onion added a real nice touch of distinct flavor. I give Mojeaux's 5 stars. This is a unique restaurant with fresh ideas. I would recommend you try them. read more

The food was solid. Nothing to hold your hat on. Went with fried ribs. Not sure why I thought they would be tender but they are quite tough. The turkey leg jambalaya was solid. Having been to the Turkey Leg Hut in Houston, I was expecting something similar. The jambalaya was better, much better, than the turkey itself. The turkey was tougher skinned. The jambalaya, I would probably just have by itself if I were ever to go back. Service was marginal, at best. The server was quick and young. Being young is one thing but being young and seeming young as a waiter is another thing for me. Was not a fan. Overall...fine if I were in a hurry and had a hankering for cajun. I do not live in Mobile and if I visited Mobile, I would likely look to try something different. read more

Unique menu - smoked turkey leg? Yes please! Tried the Louisiana Monday leg, which had a unique and tasty red beans and rice with thin cut conecuh sausage. Delicious! Others tried the lamb burger and crab cake sandwich. Wish they would let you choose the side, but it comes with fries only. They were good but some people don't care for fries and the sides were the same price (a little pricey at $6 each). A lot to choose from. Prices were a bit steep; more dinner prices and no lunch menu(at least on Saturday). Portions were reasonable/not too large but for the price we expected to have enough for leftovers. Atmosphere was cozy, but service was a bit thin. Perhaps someone called out as the waiter was the only one on the floor and he did his best with the tables. It just took a while for the food and dessert. Dessert - was worth the wait and would get 6 out of 5 stars. Fantastic bread pudding. The sauce was to die for. The peach cobbler was good as well. Want to try the beignets next time but don't know that I can skip ordering the bread pudding! There were some tables outside of the weather is nice. Food was closer to 5 star but service time and prices make it a strong 4 for us. read more

First, the unique menu is the primary and most important reason to visit and get your eat on. We loved the turkey leg plate options; don't let the price fool you, You are getting bang for your buck, I promise! And I can't let this review end without highlighting that d*** good bread pudding... best I have ever had! And check this part out... they had ran out of green tomatoes to make the Fried Green Tomato appetizer, and I so wanted to try them...at first I was like well another reason to get back over here soon! But then, the very polite and friendly server we had told us that they had sent someone to get more green tomatoes, so we could order FGT after all! Not many restaurants will go out of their way like that! Let me tell you, them FGT was hot, fresh and banging... so worth the wait! Also, we didn't finish our turkey leg plates because they substantial, but I ate on mine for the next three days following! They give you an aluminum pan as a to-go box so you can reheat in the oven! I could go on and on about how good the food was. How exceptionally good the service was. Oh and did I say, how good the food was. We got there right at opening time. So the employees and food was very fresh. If you have a healthy appetite and don't mind spending a little extra, every bite is worth it. The first time I ordered "pick up", in the car on the way home I realized they were bad so I called and brought it to their attention. They apologized. Months have passed and decided to give them another try..... not sure how someone can pick these up and actually decide to plate them and think it's ok. Not a restaurant I'd sit and eat in unless you want to leave smelling like you cooked your own meal. The lamb burger was pretty good. I think they could play with flavors more (as far as toppings go). The pasta was good but i would've liked it more if it was more creamy. Wings mediocre. Walking in, the place was dark, smelt bad, and was empty, so the first impression was not great. Our waitress wasn't friendly but she was attentive. We tried the Crawfish Bread appetizer and it was pretty good. I was not a fan of the side salad that came with our meal because it didn't have cheese on it and it was just arugula lettuce, which is a personal preference but the ranch was really good. You could tell it was homemade and it was thick. We both got the Mojeaux's Chicken New Orleans and it was good. The crawfish and sauce was the same that came on our appetizer and it was really good. Wouldn't recommend: 1. WAY expensive for what you get. 2. Poor service. Our server was Chris, the owner's son. He would be gone for LONG periods of time. 3. One of us ordered blackened red fish sandwich. He only ate a couple of bites because, as he put it, it was the fishiest tasting fish sandwich he ever had...yeah, I know it's fish! but it was so stinky tasting, so putrid, he just couldn't stomach it...and he tries the fish sandwiches almost everywhere we go. 4. There were 2 cop cars parked outside the entire time we were there. The staff seemed a bit peeved over that. My second visit was just as impressive as the first. I was in a party of five, it was the second time for four of us. We wanted to share our experience with our friend. The food was good. Our party had the MAC daddy turkey leg, pasta, and lamb burger. Also had the spinach dip appetizer. We were given no plates or utensils for the appetizer. Odd for a party of 4 and for a place with table cloths. Made you wonder about the cleanliness of those table cloths and I'm not a clean freak. Shoes stuff to the floor under the table. I know they've only been open less than a year. Hope they work out these issues because they have different menu options than this area. Kind of pricey. Hope they make it. read more
