My friend, a Nigeria-born and resident of Germany came to visit America for the first time and we decided to hit Miami (my first time visiting MIA also). We kinda wanted something homey our first day in, so we decided to try Moji. I went for the Efo with pounded yam, and he got the Egusi. There was only one waitress and the restaurant was completely packed out. From start to finish, it took us 2.5 hours to eat at this place (we waited soooo long to place the order and to receive it). The reason I even mention that is because if you're trying to have a quick lunch break, this isn't the place for that (I'd suggest calling your order ahead). The waitress, a young lady (sounded like she was possibly from London) was very sweet and tried her best to get everybody's order, so I give her efforts a 10 Now the atmosphere is chill, they have Afrobeat playing in the background. They have a sink to wash your hands before you eat. They have two restrooms available to the customer. So about the food. I was impressed that the dish comes with both beef and chicken (score)! My efo riro had a very strong unusual smell (sort of like Parmesan cheese) and the Spinach was cut into big chunks (a lot bigger than any place I've ever been to). The beef was tender, the chicken was a little rubbery. The flavor was okay despite the aroma. I gave my dish 3.5 out of 5. So my friend gave his Egusi a 2. He was not impressed at all. He was actually disappointed in his meal. The pounded yam was fresh, but it was very lumpy according to my friend, I happened to enjoy the little bites of yam. We gave it a 3.5 Over all we give this place 3 stars out of 5 because we believe it could've been a lot better, however if I was in the area regularly I would eat here again. read more

The soup was WAYYY better than I expected! Very flavorful, not too oily, chicken and beef cooked beautifully. The fufu didn't have much of a taste, reminded me of mashed potatoes but a little dough like. When you mix the fufu and soup together it's nice. I could've just eaten the soup all by itself! Has a little spicy kick to it, and is delicious when served Hot! I would definitely recommend the Egusi with chicken and beef only for newbies. It won't disappoint! Moji is absolutely delicious! We ordered ogbono which is a mixed meat dish that has chicken and beef in a very smokey sauce. The sauce has a slimey consistency similar to okra, even though there is no okra in this dish. The second dish we ordered is egusi. And I must say WOW. The flavor is spicy, deep, and rich in flavor. It is one of my favorites. I've tried egusi at other places but I think Moji makes it the best! Be sure to double check with them if they add fish or not in the egusi. Today's egusi did not contain any fish. I'm mentioning this because sometimes they make it with fish and sometimes they don't. It depends on the restaurant. I've had it both ways. But I prefer mine without fish. Overall, there is a lot more dishes that I want to try. So I'll keep this review short and sweet. The owners are really nice people and the staff is very kind.
