I'm not sure what happened but these aren't the flavors i first experienced my first time at this restaurant. It tasted mostly like oil and spice. It definitely needed more seasoning. Same thing with the chicken. I got my favorite, efo riro w/chicken however it definitely lacked flavor. I was looking forward to it since i hadn't been in a while. I hope those flavors can make a come back.

Jollof rice - good but not my favorite..

Yep...I went back! I still like it. My companion enjoyed okra stew with snapper. I enjoyed the spinach stew with snapper. Shared bowl of jollof rice and pounded yam. Need better drink options!!! No problems either customer service! Everybody was smiling and helpful!

Food: 5/5 Location: 3/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Firstly, I want to start off by saying that this was officially the 2nd time that I've tried Nigerian food in South Florida. My expectations were quite high because I wanted to make sure I throughly enjoyed my food, and that's exactly what I did! The location of Jollof Pot is in a crowded plaza & it's hard to find parking but nonetheless I found parking. I ordered Efo Riro with pounded yam, Snapper with Jollof & Plaintains. I also got chin chin which is a Nigerian snack. The Efo riro was definitely my favorite out of the entire meal. I didn't expect to enjoy the catfish as much as I did to be honest. The catfish was soft, flaky, and well seasoned. I was quite apprehensive to taste catfish because I'm usually a snapper person, but overall I would get it again. The snapper, jollof, plaintain was quite nice. The snapper was well seasoned & the jollof reminded me of spicy tomato flavored seasoned rice. Every meal I had was SPICY, so if you're not into spicy this isn't for you! The chin chin snack was very interesting also, it reminded me of hard flour cookies with no sugar. Overall, it was a great experience. FYI the staff was quite friendly and very attentive !

Been wanting to check this place out for a while and we finally went. The food has excellent flavors, if you're used to chicken nuggets and burgers this isn't the place for you. I would say Jollof Pot is for the culinary adventurers, and people who like bold flavors who can enjoy Nigerian cuisine. The fufu is a stickier version of mashed potatoes not flavored it's used as a binding for the spinach soup and Chicken as it's eaten with your hands. Also , their spinach soup is pretty spicy but good as well as the chicken. Next time I go I will try the Okro soup. Overall I would return it's good for a quick lunch or dinner no need to get fancy, and the two people working there were helpful in guiding us on what to decide. I would definitely go back to this place.

This food was so freaking good!!!! It was so flavorful!!! I don't do well with spicy, but it was so delectable I took my chances and powered through. I cannot wait to go back for some more!!!! This was my first time visiting an African restaurant. I figured the service wouldn't be up to par. Typically when visiting Caribbean restaurants (let's say Jamaican) they always have attitude and are impatient. So I was not surprised when I got the same type of treatment from the lady at the counter. I will say she did attempt to explain some things as best she could. I'd say you have a three question minimum before the irritation starts. It's okay though because the food was AMAZING. Now that I know what's what there's no need to ask questions the next time I go in. I just wish people would be friendlier. Especially knowing it's a customers first time there! Moving along though! The restaurant itself could be more appealing to the eyes. It looked a bit junky behind the counter. The seating area was fine though. All in all I can overlook the negatives from my visit because the food more than made up for it. Both of us enjoyed our meals and will for sure be back.

The food was pretty good. The portion size for dining in was great for the price paid. We ordered the Assorted meat with Jollof rice and moi moi. It was very tasty. My only critique is that we came an hour or so after their opening time and there were a few items not ready just yet or not available at all. Other than that I was pretty happy with our visit. They had nice service and the ambiance was great.

This was my first time eating at jollof pot but not my first time eating African food. I ordered the Egusi (w/ assorted meats) and pounded yam as my swallow . Let's start off w/ the portion size.. it was so small and there was no meat in my plate. All bones . At first glance I thought it was all meat but nope again, all bones and a giant piece of cow skin. The little meat that I had was tough and chewy. The flavor of the meat Egusi was very salty. I've had Egusi before and it was not like this. I expected a lot more from jollof pot especially from reading all of the positive reviews on Yelp. Maybe I dined in on a bad day or maybe I should try to dine in earlier in the day.

Outside of beautiful foreign women, I always welcome new ethnic cuisine in South Florida. Unlike the east or west coast, we're about 40 years behind in culinary diversity. So I was excited when I did a random yelp search for the term "African", and Jollof Pot popped up. Even better it's only 10 minutes away from me, unlike other hard to find ethnic cuisine clustered in the Lauderhill area. When I walked in I saw imported Nigerian drinks, frozen cooked foods, and few Nigerian snacks. While I was waiting to ask the woman behind the counter questions. I overheard her Nigerian customers saying whenever they come to Miami they always stop in to get food. Once I was able to talk to the friendly woman, she told me more about the menu and the varying offerings & combos. She also mentioned they had been open for about a year. I ordered Jollof rice, chicken, plantains, and I also bought palm juice, something that I didn't even know that existed. Once I arrived home I put the palm juice in a large cup of ice and started grubbing. The chicken was a little lukewarm, but it was divine, I loved how spicy it was with the thick reddish gravy. I always enjoy jollof rice when I can get my hands and it definitely didn't disappoint. The next time I pop in I'm going to try the pounded yam with one of their soups. - multiple tables to sit at - they sell some African groceries, but not many - refrigerated/frozen cooked foods - they cater - great customer service

One thing I don't like is when I order at a place and no one comes to check in or offer a 2nd round of drinks. But the drinks were super expensive compared to other spots/lounges on the Boulevard. The Smokey old fashioned tasted like it was made with a mixed drink kit and they just had to add water. The drink I got was also pretty watered down tasting and also $16 each. I would have liked to see what else they offered, but I'm not sure overall that it's worth it. Food: I ordered an appetizer of plantains done "tapas" style which were awesome (9/10) and my boyfriend got the skewered steak but for some reason, they had to warn us it's not on a skewer after all and asked if we still wanted it. Well it practically looked like a plate of sides (cut up onions, tomatoes and beef) that someone would build a pita or some kind of taco (3/10). Was not worth $17. Should have come with some bread or starch, but that was extra. Ambiance: Music was fine but again, we were outside so it's hard to tell what it would be like from the inside. I just wish they could price their drinks and meals closer to other places in the area. I could have gotten a HUGE plate of shrimp nachos or 2 happy hour apps or 2 drinks from anywhere else for the price of 1 item from here. Speaking of which, it appears Happy Hour is 2 days or the week? Hopefully they will be a little more active online and I'll have a reason to return....Kwanzaa?? ‍!

I should've came months ago when he told me because I've been missing out. My boyfriend and I popped in on a Sunday shortly after they opened and were immediately greeted by a smiling, friendly woman wearing a Florida Panthers (Go Cats!) shirt so I already knew I was going to enjoy this place. The inside is super clean, organized and really easy to order. They have some tables outside, however we were planning on eating them down by the beach. As we stood there trying to decide which pies we wanted, she was sooo patient with us. Then, along came another smiling, friendly gentleman and I asked them both for help picking my third pie because I simply couldn't decide. We went with the chicken curry, lamb curry and beef steak (having to refrain myself from buying more)! Holy molyyyyyy these pies are beyondddd delicious. This is probably the only time I'll admit that the more crumbs I had on my shirt, the better! I have never tasted a more flaky, buttery, perfectly baked pastry like that in my life! The filling inside of each pie was fresh, hot, and absolutely made with LOVE! Both the chicken and lamb meat were sooo tender it made it so easy to enjoy; each bite we kept saying to each other: "wow!! this is good!!!" I'm kicking myself for not going back for more on my way home, but I cannot wait to visit again and SOON. This spot is truly one of a kind and I'll be thinking about these pies until I get back over there to try more of the options they have. I will be recommending this spot to any person I get the chance to tell! Yum yum yum!
