Our experience has always been good. Their food is reliably good, southern bbq style with tasty sides (vegetables!!!) and we've been regular customers for years, both for takeout and eat in. I have been to one of the other locations and decided since I was in the area to give this Mojos a try. The place was empty even though it was lunch which rather surprised me. Sat down immediately and was waited on quickly. Service was cordial and respectful. She got the drinks then put in our order of burnt ends. We also ordered for the entree a q salad which is a barbecue salad with your choice of turkey, pork, chicken, brisket or pork. The ends came out quickly, but were only room temperature. For the price, there was a lot of fat that was included and of course not eaten. The taste was good, but just not worth the money. Our salads came out. I ordered shredded pork on mine with blue cheese dressing. My salad was good, but lacked in meat, it was a nice portion of lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes, but fell short with pork. That being said, the pork was good tender and tasty, the best was the dressing. Absolutely the best blue cheese. My husband got another salad with beef brisket and said a good portion of the meat was fatty. Just disappointed because we love mojos but understand it may have been an off day!! My first and it will not be my last. The barbecue is awesome here. I really like it. I ordered the two-meat combo and picked the beef brisket and North Carolina pork. Their beef brisket was so tender and moist. You only need a fork to slice through the meat and with ease. The North Carolina pork is exactly how I remembered Carolina bbq, vinegary flavor. The taste was perfect. For the sides, I paired the meats with collard greens and green beans. They looked and tasted fresh. Fast service too. We ordered our food and devoured them within thirty minutes. That's nice especially if you're on an hour lunch break limit. The place gets packed quickly. I would recommend getting there a little early to avoid the rush. It wasn't that bad yet when we pulled in at 11:40 AM. read more

My family came here because it is close to my Fathers home and he loves BBQ. The Waitress was too notch. I failed to remember name, but she was good. The sweet tea was very sweet. We all had the lunch menu, and it in my opinion was pricey. I ordered the Carolina pork with a side salad, bbq beans and Texas toast. I was good and plentiful. $11.50 My brother and sister n law were sweet and treated the entire family. My dad could not hear in there. High ceilings lead to echos. I ordered a "burnt ends" plate. Burnt ends are the fatty burnt part of a brisket, full of flavor and juicy. I got probably the leanest meat I have ever eaten in my life. The ends were dry and almost no fat at all. Probably the worst burnt ends I have ever eaten. Look at the pic I attached. There is almost no fat on these ends what so ever. This plate cost about $20 because you pay extra to get this part of the brisket. They could've just said they were out or don't know what burnt ends are, even tho they're on the menu. read more

We had a very large party last Wednesday and we had the most amazing dining experience. Our waiter was so kind and so pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu. We had adult, and kids and our table required a lot of attention and he was right there the whole time. Now let's talk about the food, the turkey, the ribs, the brisket, the onion rings, the sides, the sandwiches, everything is spectacular. This is true barbecue, this is not barbecue made from liquid smoke and you can definitely tell a difference. These dishes were made low and slow. Usually when you go into a barbecue place that is a chain like Bono's, you immediately get hit with the "smoke "smell. That doesn't happen here and it is such an amazing experience. If you have not eaten here yet you are truly missing out. The staff cannot do enough for you and the food is delicious. The best BBQ in town...at least I think so. If you have never tried their smoked wings, then you don't know what you are missing. These are stupid good!! Juicy, flavorful and just the right amount of smoke. Their hand cut fries with great flecks if salt are the the greatest in town. The smoked turkey is moist too. We usually order their smoked corn as well, but we chose a side salad instead, which is made with really fresh greens, tomatoes and other things. The only thing I would recommend is that their cornbread croutons get toasted a little more before being put on a salad, they tend to be somewhat stale and I usually ask them to be excluded. read more

Mojo has been very meh lately. My last few visits had me leaving with an "it was just okay" feeling. We stopped in for a quick dinner tonight as Mojo is just 5 minutes from my home. We walked in and sat ourselves per the sign. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and mashed potatoes. The chicken was fine. The potatoes were dry, needed butter and salt. And they had skins which I really dislike. My guy got the dry run ribs with fries and smoked corn. The ribs were dry, he said they didn't seem fresh. The fries were nice and crisp as requested and the corn was normal. When we got the bill, the total was $33. My card came back with a slip run for $50. I brought it to the server's attention. She didn't get the error at first and then realized and fixed it. It didn't seem like it was done on purpose, but I will be double checking my statement. read more

The brisket was SUPER tender and delicious. Really good flavor and the perfect amount of fattiness to meatiness. The Mac and cheese was cheesy and creamy. The potato salad was super flavorful and the meals came with Texas toast which was perfectly toasted and delicious. I dipped mine in the bbq. I mixed the mustard with the sweet. GREAT COMBO. Lack of attention to cleanliness in the restroom is an indication of cleanliness in the kitchen, so my experience was jaded right out of the gate. Every touchable surface was filthy. I ordered chicken nachos. There was very little chicken to be found; just a pile of chips with shredded cheese melted -- and allowed to cool -- on top. Very disappointed. Hubby ordered brisket with corn and sweet potato mash sides. The brisket was dry and the sweet potato mash was overdone with sugar. The waitress was very attentive and the decor interesting. Overall, though, for two below par dishes with diet cokes at $35, just not worth the trip. Just because you own a smoker doesn't mean you should be in the restaurant business. read more

The pulled pork bbq was a smaller portion than in St Augustine's Mojo restaurant and the sides (mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy) seemed to be just dipped up luke warm. Mojo, you let me down. Been visiting this location since waaaaay back when, when it was easy to get a seat at lunch. My recent visit was disappointing, not due to the food (it was great), but the service. I wasn't greeted when I walked in (register person busy texting on cell phone), nor did I get a "thanks for stopping in" when I departed. I sat at my table for several (more than 5) minutes before a server stopped by, he didn't introduce himself, just asked "you ready?" I gave him my drink order, and meal order when he returned with my drink. The food came out, and was prepared as I asked, but my drink went dry 3 times, and I had to flag a different server down on one occasion to get a refill. Staff seemed to be more interested in interacting with each other than with customers tonight. Some staff, anyway. Again, the food was terrific. The service was not. Our recent dining experience at MOJO was disappointing. We have always loved going there but sadly will not return as there are much better BBQ restaurants in Jax. I ordered the brisket and it was so dry I could barely eat it. Brisket is my Favorite and I could not believe how bad this was. Do yourself a favor if you are looking for good bbq go to 4 rivers or my personal favorite, the bearded pig! This is the original Mojo Barbecue location and still keeps true to the BBQ, despite what some "elite" tagged reviewers may experience, as a regular since opening in March of 2003, I have experienced the best and worst growing pains, and they are still holding it down here, even with the occasional slip. Beef brisket, pulled pork, and the buttermilk fried chicken with white sawmill style gravy are my go to dishes. The macaroni and cheese still rivals my other favorite BBQ joints around town. Onion rings are probably the best in town, the collards are kicked up just right, and all of their sides have their strengths. When their kitchen is on their A game, this joint is 5 star good. The noise factor is an issue for some people, but it just adds to the atmosphere with the classic blues music piped in while you chow down. Seriously, try this place out, it's among my top 3 joints in town, and hits close to being number 1 more often than not. read more

Tasty stuff, but it's likely best to order during lunchtime, since the same meal is cheaper by a few dollars or so. They also have a variety of sauces.. Have been here many times before and the food & service has always been great. Can't say that for today, went for dinner and there were only a few people there when we arrived. We were promptly seated & the waitress arrived and took our drink & appetizer order, got our drinks & it went downhill from there. We waited far too long to get the onion ring appetizer which if they had been busy I could understand. The onion rings were hot & tasty as usual & were brought out by another member of their waitstaff. Our waitress seemed more interested in hanging out in the kitchen than looking out for her customers. We did get our entrees fairly quickly after that but at no time were we checked on to see if everything was ok or to ask if we needed anything. In fact once we were finished & the waitress returned my wife had to ask for her salad to be placed in a take home box since she never got it in the first place even though after bring out the entrees she said she'd be right back with the salad. Our ribs were lukewarm at best & dry, the sides were good but nothing special. I could probably give you the name of the waitress but I don't like doing things like that as people can have a bad day & I normally wouldn't complain if they were busy but as I said that wasn't the case.
