    BBQ plate

A must stop on your way to SC from NC right off Hwy 57 where the waving pig greats you! Been coming here for warm apple cider and hot chocolate for months but decided to stop and try the BBQ. Boy was it a great choice! I ordered the BBQ plate with beans and potato salad. You can dine in or get it to go. The atmosphere is so quaint and they make you feel like you are at home. Can't wait to come back again.

    BBQ ribs? Joke.

I saw a lot of post on FB about this place. I starved myself all day so I can DIVE into my meal lol WORST mistake ever. I spent $16 for 1/2 rack of ribs and two sides. The size of "sides" that came with my meal are a JOKE! It's maybe 3-4 bites if that! The ribs are the WORST I have ever ate in my life and I MEAN THAT! This place has a smoker outside to draw you in to stopping. The ribs have no smoke flavor, no salt or any seasons on the actual meat, the ribs are so fatty and the few bites I took I had to DIG in with my fork to get the fat pulled apart. This is NC where BBQ is something to brag about DEFINITELY not this place. The baked beans are from Bushes Baked beans in can, NO AUTHENTIC taste you can tell it's from the can. The potato salad is in insult to all potatoes ever. No salt, pepper, celery seed? Mustard? Relish? Peppers? I mean it has NOTHING just potato, eggs and light mayo. I will NEVER send anyone here or better yet ever try again and to think I was almost tempted to get the banana pudding, I am glad I did not. Worst place ever for BBQ DO NOT GO! I honestly tossed the whole bag in the trash. I am a big foodie and I love to try lots of different place especially during this time where it's important to support local, never again! Do not waste your money.

If you are anywhere near this place, go! Homemade everything, killer food, amazing prices! $2.50 breakfast sandwich. Best homemade biscuit breakfast sandwich I've had. This is a must visit!

While in North Myrtle Beach for a softball tournament found this little gem out in the middle of nowhere. The hotel lacked in quality coffee and extras, and didnt want to do any chain coffee place. Found this place " 6 miles away" with great reviews. Well we didnt know we had to drive into a different state, it was suprising when we saw the North Carolina Border sign. Well, this place didnt disappoint. Other than some crazy person who yelled at me for parking, which I parked next to her, it was a perfect coffee drip trip. I had the Carmel Macchiato, and this was the smoothest coffee I has ever ever had!!! They have fresh baked goods, and had to have some of course. Got a slice of zucchini bread for my wife, and if it wasn't so far to go, I think she would've had me go back and buy every slice they had, to consume at a later time of course I had the tripel berry and apple pies, oh my, I am so glad i don't live near by, i would have their pies for dessert every day. I only wish I would've gotten some of their other baked good, they were so tempting. Any way if you get a chance stop in, and hopefully you'll have more time then I did. oh yeah, they serve a limited breakfast menu, but man, I'm sure it's good.

As reviews go, this is gonna be a doubleheader, which is appropriate on a couple different levels…read more A.) we ate twice here this past weekend and B.) we were in town to watch 12U baseball, as played by the 12 y/o twin grandsons. So to paraphrase Ernie Banks *skypoint* Let's eat two! On Saturday the first game was at 9:00 AM followed by the 2nd game at 10:45 AM. After a sweep for the good guys we determined not eating the hotel "food" was probably the right choice but we were both famished. A cursory search showed this lovely eatery was about 15 minutes from the ball fields and we made our GPS-led way right to it. Ish. It's very small, and it's an old house with not great signage, so my dumb a** drove right past it GPS or not. Quickly correcting my directional faux pas, we found what was, in the moment, the last available parking spot and made our way to the door. The place was packed but to our good fortune a table was getting up to leave and it was quickly cleared for us. Did I mention it's a cozy spot? From memory (which, in my case is spotty at best) I'm guessing there are less than 25 seats inside, although there is also outdoor seating so maybe forget I said that. There's plenty of room. Anyway, our server, the lovely and talented Leslie came by with coffee and water (yay to both) made a couple recco's since we were first timers and was off. Not terribly long after she returned with Fried Green Tomatoes for B squared and a Rustic Chicken Bowl (the special) for me. Both meals were outstanding! The Chicken Bowl was a schmulya of sausage gravy, fried chicken strips, waffle fries, and scrambled eggs. That's not a combo I would've considered making but dammit the dish was tasty! The FGT had a balsamic drizzle, feta, strawberries, etc. and they didn't last on her plate long. Sunday's games were at 1:00 PM and 3:00PM so we decided to simplify our meal search and come back here before our afternoon of baseball. We were greeted like old friends and shown to a table. The manager apologized for the table as it was small and in a busyish spot, but we weren't bothered by either. Leslie remembered our coffee orders from the day before and delivered them promptly. Our Sunday choices were a delightful Quiche for BB and Biscuits and Gravy for myself. Both great calls, although I will say the sausage patty that came with the quiche was rather salty. Lastly, let me just say here that both BB and I have restaurant history at various points in our lives. So we get what it's like dealing with the general public, what type of personality it takes to be good at the job. I want to go on the record that, while the food was great, and the setting was charming, the thing that made our experiences at this restaurant memorable was the staff. Everyone we encountered was phenomenal. Always hustling, always pleasant, always courteous. I know, I know, nobody is that great, blah, blah, blah. Whatever. I'm not big on giving 5 stars, I think this is only my 2nd one. They earned it. Quit whining about my review, go eat here, and tell me where I was wrong. You can't do it, because TL;DR I'm right about this place and you'll love it too

Our waiter was just fantastic and super sweet when addressing my any. I had a pineapple mimosa to start with, it was ok, a better quality champagne could be used. The low country biscuit was fall apart good. Very cute place, will definitely go back!

We were served by the owner, Nick, who made the visit even better with great hospitality. I had the Apple Butter Biscuit Bottom, and everything was cooked perfectly. The biscuit was crisp on the outside but still soft on the inside, the bacon was cooked just right, and the eggs were perfectly fried hard. The apple butter was amazing and really brought the whole dish together. My wife had the Awakened Bacon Filet Sandwich, and it was also cooked perfectly. The steak was a perfect medium well with just the right amount of pink, and the flavors worked really well together. I also tried the Blackberry Bramble Mimosa, and it was mixed perfectly. It had great flavor and was still nice and strong. Overall, Toasted was a great spot with great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

I had seen a tv spot about their new offerings of dinner, I knew I had to try them. We played golf up near Calabash, we had the opportunity to stop at Toast. Their menu offered a wide variety of their creative options. I chose the Shrimp Cherie, my wife chose the Slammin Salmon which was prepared with a couple of ingredients she couldn't have. They made suggestions on how they could alter the dish to satisfy her dietary needs. We both thought our meals were over the top. The service was fantastic our server was attentive but not a pain. The owner was very friendly stopping by a couple of times. The patrons were mainly local, the owner knew them well. His warmth radiated through the restaurant as the evening went on. My only regret was it took me so long to try Toast. It may be a bit of a drive for us but it's well worth the trip, we will be back very soon.

This Thursday I was heading up with the wife to buy some fish and we decided to go for it. Of course there was zero parking with a parade of cars in the parking lot waiting to pick up food, when my wife noticed a pick up truck right in front of the place about to exit. She sped right next to the spot and jumped in before anyone realized it. We're in...or so I thought. We strolled up and there were about 35 people sitting on benches and rocking chairs under a tent right in front of the place all waiting to get in. I figured this is not going to be easy. I went up to the hostess station and asked how long for a table for two and she said 35 minutes or so. I looked at my wife and gave her my name. I had to find out what all the hub bub was about. In about 30 minutes they shouted my name and I sprinted to the front door...I wasn't about to lose my table. In we went and we're shown a nice size table in the middle of the place. It kinda reminded me of a beachy mom and pop diner. The friendly waitress came to the table right away, gave us our menus, showed us the specials board and took a drink order. The menu was simple but had some choices on it. While we were thinking, she came back with our drinks and we quickly ordered an appetizer. In this case, onion rings. A few minutes later my wife settled on a crab cake app and a salad which she asked to be combined. I went for the soup of the day(NE clam chowder) and one of the specials...pork chops(I took my grilled not fried) with 3 sides, Lima beans, okra & tomatoes stewed and green beans. The meal came with a choice of cornbread or roll. I opted for the cornbread. In a flash, the onion rings came out followed by the soup. Now I do love me some onion rings and these were fantastic. Crispy, flavorful and not stringy. The soup was home made. Creamy with bits of clam and chunks of potato. No salt or pepper was needed as it came out steaming hot and perfect. It was a meal in itself and I ended up taking 3/4 home with me(something rarely do). After a few minutes, the main course came out. My wife dug into a very large homemade crab cake, chock full of crab meat and very flavorful. She loved it. The salad was fresh and crisp. My pork chops came out and the size of the plate shocked me. Now, I almost never talk about price but my plate was $12.49 and I got two large perfectly prepared, juicy pork chops with a healthy helping of the best okra and stewed tomatoes I ever had plus absolutely delicious green beans and tasty lima beans. What a deal! The only thing that wasn't above average was the corn bread which was a tad dry and plain. Most of the regulars opted for the home made roll(and the fried chicken which was being served at every table!). I was stuffed and had trouble finishing my plate. My wife who said she was full, managed to save enough room for dessert. Now everyone was eating the homemade peach cobbler so I suggested that. My wife never had it before and was thinking about the Oreo pie, but I persuaded her and she was glad I did. Instead of the usual whip cream she wanted vanilla ice cream with it and it was a fantastic combo. The cobbler came out piping hot and crumbly with sweet chunks of peaches that paired well with the cold vanilla ice cream. She attacked it so fast that I couldn't get a picture. I broke my own rules and dipped in for a few spoonfuls and I'm glad I did. It was heavenly. The bill came and I couldn't believe how reasonable it was. Now I know why you can't get into the joint. We paid our bill and gave the super friendly waitress a nice tip and were on our way. We will absolutely be back and will try to time it a bit better so we can find parking...or we'll take an Uber...it was that good.
