10/10 Stepped in on a hot summer day 100° for a homey warm comforting meal with my boyfriend and we were met with a flavor bomb. The vibe is so chill + awesome customer service. I've been on a Korean cuisine kick & this place remains my fav ‍

This shop is located on Hawthorne and is a small, cute spot to grab a light, casual bite. When you come here, you order at a kiosk and then the food is brought to you at a table. I came for brunch with a friend one morning and we ordered an egg kimbap and a shrimp tempura kimbap. The serving came on one plate with a small salad. I also ordered some seaweed soup at the counter. Overall, I thought that this place was just okay. It was a bit expensive for kimbap and the shrimp tempura that I ordered for my kimbap was soft and a bit soggy. However! The seaweed soup and the egg kimbap were good. If I were to come back then I would love to try some of their other menu items as they looked delicious in other reviews. :)

Very hole in the wall vibes. Nice service came and checked up on us like the usual. Food to me personally was bland but I also have a salty taste buds so it might vary. The black bean noodles were good Udon was good just how I like that Japanese broth Soodooboo jigae was good and they give you literally a whole block of tofu, not much meat tho. Chicken was actually not seasoned I thought it was bland but really crunchy and crispy

Completely empty on a Saturday night so not sure how they survive. Maybe take out during the week. The food was good quality and generous portions. I have leftovers for lunch for the chicken Katsu. They were nice to leave off the white rice for my husband. Nice variety of veggies for the Bibimbap. Not a fan of this new trend of ordering from a kiosk and it seemed the front house staff could have done table service but maybe it is busier at other times? At least they let us alter the dish that was our bigger concern as the kiosk doesn't have any options to adjust. In the end what matters is we really enjoyed the food and the place had interesting decorations with nice lighting. Lots of drink options but wasn't in the mood this time. We will come again.

Fun stop while strolling Hawthorne! Korean casual ~ a couple fresh Gimbap rolls, spicy tteokbokki, vegan gyozas and wash down with some Asian beer! Prices are great! Service ~ order at counter, food brought to your number given. Friendly and smiley. Small 2 seat table perfect off the sidewalk on a sunny day. *Back of the restaurant ~ rainbow umbrella ceiling with comfortable chairs for a relaxed mood.

Very easy to order with the kiosk! I really love the environment of the restaurant. If you go into the back, it's super quirky and chill. The kimbaps are delicious and perfect to snack on. Affordable too. Similar to the cost of kimbap at Hmart. I didn't try anything else on the menu but I liked how there were vegan options.

Excellent food here for the price. Everything was fresh and delicious!!!

Excellent food, high quality and fresh ingredients. Would definitely come here again. What a little gem of a place!!!

Cute small clean spot! I like how there's a self order kiosk. The gimbap gets brought to your table once you sit down. The rolls are large but I would say I was missing that extra sesame oil and pickled veggies I look for in gimbap. We got the calamari, pork cutlet, and crab salad. There was a bunch of crab salad in our roll, but very tiny fine pieces of calamari. Where I was wondering what roll we had bought. The pork cutlet was crispy, though. Nothing too oily at all. Overall I would've liked a more consistent pickle, some rolls I bit into I could taste the daikon and others not so much. I liked the salad as a nice palate cleanser and the spicy Mayo was a nice touch. Otherwise still good cute find!

Looks great but taste was not

I was excited to see a new Korean restaurant in PDX since there is a lack of good Korean food here. I grew up in a Korean/American household and have been eating Kim bap my whole life. Having said that, the Kim bap here is kinda "mid" as my kids would put it. There was not much taste to it at all. The salad that came with it had an odd tasting dressing that I didn't like. My other half ordered the pork katsu and he couldn't finish it. I've rarely ever seen him not finish his food. The pork katsu sauce had a weird salty flavor and the steamed rice was salty too. The store is small but the tables are small too so we were able to find a table. The server was too busy to bus tables so we had to settle for a dirty one. We tried to find someone to give us something to wipe the table down but there is minimal staff here that are busy. If you are looking for some good Kim bap I recommend going to the Hmart on Belmont, theirs has a lot of umami like my mom and grandma used to make. Not coming back here

Small quaint place. With Korean comfort food. The gimbap avg around $6, my favorite had to be the tuna. All the protein was made to order which I can appreciate. No soggy food! Can't wait to come back and try the Katsu!

My friend and I discovered this place last night when we were looking for dinner somewhere new to us, and we are so glad we found this hidden gem!! There were lots of good choices for kimbap; we ordered the fish cake, bulgogi, Spam, and spicy pork. They all were very tasty! We shared the soju cocktail, and our server poured it in the glass kettle. We loved the presentation of the food and drink, and we were glad to discover the cozy area in the back! The umbrella ceiling is so gorgeous, and it felt so relaxed to kick back on the couch and share a good meal. We will definitely be back!

Location: This bar is on the first floor of the Hyatt House Portland / Downtown. Ambiance: Pretty quiet and chill. There weren't a lot of people there so it was really easy to get a drink. Drink options: I really loved how they circle around different local beer on tap. They also have a few bottled beer too. They have a cast amount of liquor too. Surprisingly, they had a new bottle of Hennessy when we finished the first (during our stay). Usually a lot of bars in hotels don't have it, so that was a major plus. Bartenders: We met three while we were there. All of them super kind, friendly, and informative of the surrounding area. They gave us lots of tips on what to see, eat, and drink. They were really down to earth people. Pricing: I thought it to be fairly reasonable for a hotel, however I might just be jaded from Bay Area pricing (yikes). What I loved about this bar is that we were able to just chat with the bartender. I didn't feel like I had to go back to my room with my drink (which is usually the case). I was able to talk to a few other people sitting at the bar too. Of course all from out of town, but still nice talking to other friendly strangers. They do serve food at this place, but I didn't really get a chance to try it it since there was soooo many other food joints in the area.

Scant options is rice. Lots of potatoes. Even the condiments were confused; no soy or siracha on the table but ketchup and Tapatio. The general lack of caring by the management is what sticks with me. The sad bowl of sugar packets, jam packets, creamers and stir sticks all thrown together on the table like a mistake. But when I asked for honey or soy our server had to go to the kitchen and get side dishes of these. C'mon y'all. Pay attention to the details. Your customer sure are.

There were 4 adults, 2 small children, a full table and no self control. The cocktails were incredible, and the staff was so thoughtful they even split a mocktail for the kids, who felt very fancy and important because of it. We ordered sushi, fried rice, bao buns, lobster rolls, steak tartare, duck, scallops, sliders, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, dumplings, fries... honestly, if it was on the menu, there's a decent chance it landed on our table. By the end we were so full that dessert never stood a chance. The only thing none of us cared for was the Dynamite Roll. The warm creamy crab topping just wasn't our thing. There were also a few dishes I'm glad we tried but probably wouldn't order again--the Peking duck, bao buns, and tableside fried rice. Now for the stars of the show. The STEAK TARTARE. I order steak tartare every chance I get. I've had it all over and make it at home. This was hands down the best steak tartare I've ever eaten. Not "best in Portland." Not "best recently." Best ever. Next time I'm ordering one for the table and one for myself because sharing was a mistake. The hamachi crispy rice was absolutely divine. The King Salmon Roll was fantastic. The fries were somehow memorable enough that I'm mentioning fries in a restaurant review, which feels important. The kids loved their avocado rolls, and the staff happily accommodated their requests. Overall, Janken nailed it. Great food, amazing drinks, wonderful service, and somehow managed to make dining out with two little kids feel easy. I'm already planning to come back for my birthday. We waited over 30-40 minutes with no updates from the staff. No one checked on us or informed us of any delay,we had to ask multiple times ourselves. What made the experience even more frustrating was that we noticed another couple who arrived after us. Their food continued to come out promptly, and staff checked on them several times throughout their meal. Meanwhile, we were left waiting, wondering where our food was, with little to no communication from anyone. Each time we asked about our missing dishes, we were told, "Just one minute." Ten minutes later, there was still no food. After waiting so long, I finally asked to cancel the remaining dishes. About five minutes later, one of the dishes was brought out anyway without any explanation. I told the waitress that we had already canceled it, and she simply said "okay," took the dish, and walked away. A few minutes later, another staff member brought out the other canceled dish and told us it was complimentary and that we could take it to go if we weren't hungry. The issue was never about getting free food. I wasn't looking for free food.I brought my daughter here for her birthday because I believed this was a nice restaurant that would provide a memorable experience. Instead of leaving with happy memories from my daughter's birthday celebration, we left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and upset.
