I'm sad to write this review. My very first experience was back in '03. I remember the family working hard with a smile and the chicken was absolutely delish. Infamous hole in d wall. Fast forward May 2026, personnel has changed. And I ordered the beef yakisoba, chicken and rice, pork and beef rice, chicken yakisoba. The noodles were hard, overly salted on sauce and the meats, and the veggies looked huge, like I'd choke on the carrots. The broccoli tasted like it was soaked in teriyaki sauce. We have been going here for years but times have changed. The dinner was a far cry from what they used to do. Dinner was 2/3 the size it used to be. They have watered down the sauces and are using cheaper grade of dark meat so it heavily lacked in flavor! They replaced front counter gal with an self order iPad that felt liked it had not been wiped down in over a week Floors were dirty Large menu screens are broken and dark. I started going to Du's in 1995 when I lived in Portland, off Sandy. It was a staple 2-4 times a week. I was sitting at a bar in Scottsdale yesterday and struck up a conversation with a guy who said he was from Vancouver, WA. As a fourth generation Asian American I've had my fair share of teriyaki. This place has been hyped up so much that honestly I'm not quite sure what expectations I had. I don't know what got into my brain but I felt I had to have the chicken. So I got the chicken and the pork. The chicken was good. It was juicy enough. Nothing exceptional but in my opinion chicken is really easy to screw up. The pork had some good flavor on it. Nice char on it. Juicy enough. I liked it. I added some sauce but I think I added too much but that was my fault. If I loved salad I would appreciate the amount of it. Teriyaki salad has two kinds of dressing. Creamy and garlic ginger bomb. I guess I'd choose creamy. It was ok. Price was a little high. But it's possible I've completely lost touch. The soda machine was broken. I don't know if it always is, but I really wanted one. Ambiance is nothing special. On par for sandy boulevard so I'm not offended. Is it good. Yes. Is it worth crossing town and making it a compulsory Portland meal? That might be a stretch. read more

Used to go here all the time and loved it. Same family owned and operated it, now different staff - not sure about ownership. The person at the counter had little customer service and seemed way more interested in the to-go orders. The drink machine was down, no ice either, a case of plastic water bottles was on the floor and there were about two choices for sodas in the refrigerator. I had my usual teriyaki chicken with rice and salad. The salad came without dressing (I actually ordered extra) and had to ask for it, the chicken was very dry! I ate in and each table used to have bottles of teriyaki sauce, hot sauce, and occasionally extra salad dressing - none of that was available. Sad experience as it used to be such a friendly, well-run local spot with the best teriyaki in town. It's really declined and I won't go back. read more

I really love this grill -- the food is delicious and the service is quick. The only downside is that it's pretty far from where I live, so I only make it out here every few months. Parking isn't great either, but the food keeps me coming back. I heard they had a location in Beaverton that didn't last, which is a shame. Honestly, I think it comes down to location and visibility. I recently was following an influencer on some of the food places she raved about and teriyaki chicken is one of our staples that we love in our household. I was so excited to check out Du's based on her video! I called in to order takeout and I picked it up easy peezy - lots of parking on a weekday. The restaurant smelt good. I am a mobile-muncher, LOVE eating while driving, so I dug in. I loved the salad. I tried the chicken without any sauces and noticed it was really dry and overcooked. I poured the teriyaki sauce on it and not only was there not enough sauce in that teeny cup, but the sauce didn't fix anything. I do have to admit that the sauce is pretty tasty and I would've been happier with a lot more of it. My son had a bite and said it was too hard. I was so bummed because of all the hype! I'm not sure if I'll go back since there are so many other teriyaki chicken places to try. I unfollowed the influencer after this. We just have different palettes! read more

The food is great, best chicken teriyaki in town. Dressing on the salad is great. The cheap plastic containers that they put their food in constantly collapse. The forks they send with to go orders are 100 percent trash. I've never been to this restaurant in person so I can't speak for the service or ambiance. But, my supervisor brought me a chicken teriyaki meal from Du's and I love it ! I have never heard of Du's till today. A coworker commented that a lot of people at our workplace eat at Du's and I can see why. Simple and straightforward. Easy to digest and packed with protein. This place is the definition of a hole in the wall...staffed by friendly people, with moderately quick service on a busy busy night. I enjoyed the chicken teriyaki/beef teriyaki. The pirtion was generous. I had to take half of it home. But that's a great problem to have. I would rate this closer to a 3.5 stars but upgrading due to the price point & quickness from when we ordered. I had Du's bookmarked after reading an article of Amine's favorite local spots to check out and who doesn't enjoy some teriyaki!? It was pretty late in the night so glad they stay open later and even when we arrived there were a couple groups enjoying their meal and ordering for pickup which is a good sign for me. On the menu it's pretty simple where you can get one meat or do combinations with two. This time I ended up getting the chicken teriyaki and the beef yakisoba to try something else out. They run you ~$11+ for entree which really isn't that bad! We got both our entrees within 10 mins but as we were waiting we could smell the grilled chicken and it smelled so good! The teriyaki comes with rice and a side salad as well with that you order. Salad was nothing special and rice wasn't bad but could have been cooked a little longer. As for the chicken I'm a little torn since I loved the char and flavor buuut would have preferred more sauce. There was hardly any leftover sauce after the rice absorbed it so was a little try for leftovers. The entree did last two meals so worth the price point. The yakisoba was actually the opposite where there was more sauce than the noodles that were in the entree. It wasn't bad since it added the sweetness to the meat and veggies but would have enjoyed it more if there were more noodles to soak up the excess sauce. If all else fails be sure to pour it over the rice from another entree you get. read more

The portion sizes have gone down and prices have gone up. I understand having to raise prices due to inflation, but you cut the portion sizes in half, this is just greedy. I won't be returning and I can no longer recommend your restaurant to friends and family. read more

BEWARE THERE ARE RODENTS AT THIS LOCATION! The health department has been notified of this issue. Just last night my family went here and ordered two meals. While waiting, a large rodent crawled out from under the front counter and scurried into the kitchen. I ran out as fast as I could and my husband was alarmed so he came out after me. I always get the Chicken Teriyaki whenever I come to Du's. It's my favorite teriyaki place in Portland! While I've heard Du's has gone down in quality with COVID, I've only had it post-pandemic and it's absolutely delicious! I can't imagine how it could be better, but I guess I'll just have to wonder. Very reasonably priced for the amount of food you're getting. I am OBSESSED with the poppyseed dressing!! I wish I could buy a bottle for myself. If I could change one thing it would be more side salad so I could have more dressing :P The staff is always wonderful and the food comes out fast and hot. 5 stars!! read more
