He was very responsive over email answering questions and scheduling and came out within a week of me calling. He was then on time and ready to go at the appointed time, with his mask on. He was quick looking at the issue, but clearly knew his stuff and identified what he believed to be the issue, and didn't charge me a dime for his time and opinion. He even told me that since my wall having water issues is plaster, it was unlikely that it would lead to a mold issue that would be of concern for our health in the home. Mike came to our house for a mold check. We have had issues with a musty smelling basement ever since this past rainy fall. The smell would come back every time it rained. We have only owned the home for two years, so we don't know all of its history. Mike has a lot of expertise and was able to confirm we didn't have any topical mold. He also confirmed that the previous owner did put in place checks to prevent flooding and standing water. The main problem was high humidity when it rains, which would cause mold spores. His suggestion was to first run a dehumidifier to keep the humidity in check, which we will do. He also suggested an air duct cleaning may help. I would highly recommend MoldGone. These guys are beyond phenomenal! We recently discovered that water had been collecting behind one of our basement walls due to a landscaping issue. I called MoldGone on a Saturday morning hoping to have someone come out on Monday or Tuesday. I don't usually write reviews but this company deserves a shout-out. They came out next day and inspected the vents where I suspected mold to be growing. It looked to be only on the outer vent grates due to AC condensation on old covers. They instructed me on the most cost effective way to easily fix the issue myself. Jon from Mold Gone came out to my house to check a water/mold issue. He told me that I didn't have a problem needing remediation, except maybe in the corner of the basement, and suggested removing the drywall there and see what happens. Well, it rained and there was no water to speak of, Jon came by again and noted that while no water was flooding in, the corner was moister than the rest of the basement, and recommended putting some Lidlok on the wall in the corner. We didn't actually use MoldGone because they were so helpful and honest that it was determined we didn't need them. Our daughter's bedroom carpet had a smallish area where the humidifier soaked the carpet and padding and created mold in less than 48 hours despite our attempts to dry it. We contacted Mold Gone, and Mike responded very quickly to let us know that their services weren't needed and we simply needed to replace the padding and carpet. Days earlier we were told by a waterproofing company that we would need to have a pretty complicated and expensive waterproofing system installed. The inspector showed up on time and was very thorough and knowledgeable. He was also extremely personable, well cultured, and easy to talk to and easy to understand, making the whole experience flawless. He moved like a pro, visibly inspecting the premises inside and outside and took multiple air samples methodologically. A small area of mold, outside of a window ledge, was missed but caught by our regular home inspector, but it was nothing major. The mold inspection was still top notch. And the inspector was awesome. Two days later, Jon Gordon, from Mold Gone came out between the hours they told me and inspected my garage walls and ceiling to make sure moisture level were within range. He explained everything to me and was very helpful. I did not need any repairs, it was just cosmetic issues with the drywall (water stains). The quick check was 5 minutes and he did not charge me a fee at all! This is pretty honest for repair companies these days. Most will charge at least $50 for a home visit. I need extra stars for Joe (5-star top rating is not enough)!! I had a home inspection done from another place and was suggested to get mold testing. When I had home inspection, that inspector (from another company) did not tell me anything nor check everything, but just told me that "bathroom venting into attic that may accumulate moisture to cause mold......(without picture)" which does not seem making sense (a vent should go out of the house directly but not venting everything into attic). Joe not only checked the mold inside the furnace, he also clearly explained to me how mold would be developed and how to prevent it. I have never known that properly controlling AC can do such a job without costing much energy -- that was a GREAT lesson learnt from Joe for free! (saving me a lot of money in the future by turning AC system on fan at least to control the air flow while saving energy) He also checked my attic and confirmed that the environment is mold free. I saw water mark and holes in attic and worry about the water leaking, Joe took extra steps to help me check it and told me that was old fix but the attic is good now without water getting in (validated that we were there on a day with thundershower that rained so hard). When I shared with my worries from the home inspection report (venting into attic), he took another time to get into the attic to help me check that all the vents/pipes are properly connected to the outside. Joe helped me beyond all the measures that I can not thank enough to him!!
