I hired the company to manage my move from Secaucus NJ to Hells Kitchen NYC, 1BR with complete packing Service. For the quote estimation we had a video call where I showed my apartment. They estimated 2200 as a fixed price for packing, the move, assembling, 4 guys and a truck for 7hrs. The Team was on time, very very friendly, fast and professionell. The move was done exactly within the estimated 7 hrs. The only thing we're I maybe had wished more extra care was my mattress-I was for whatever reasons expecting that they will rap them in plastic foil... I was wrong, they carried them around and let them sit on the floor before they putted them into kind a 'half-covering-box' I would hire them again. read more

We hired Molloy movers to move us from our home in Staten Island, NY to our new home, approximately 10 minutes away. I'm not going to lie. We have a LOT of stuff. We weren't completely packed. That's not their fault, its our own. Gavin came to give our estimate and he came back with a decent price, approximately $2,200. He said 1 truck, 4 guys and we will be good to go. Yeah, ok. Moving day came. They loaded the truck and brought to our new home. The guys were great. Very friendly and careful with our possessions. I tipped each worker $25 and bought everyone chinese food for dinner. They earned it. We were told that they would put padding down on our newly finished hardwood floors. They did not. The day after our move, we rented a 10 ft uhaul truck and hired 2 mexicans. We made 3 MORE TRIPS to bring all of the stuff that did not fit on the moving truck. This cost me $500 over what Molloy charged me. My job went into overtime. Today I got an email from accounting asking to charge my card. I have no problem paying, they worked it and earned it. But after I expressed my concerns and told her details about why I am not happy, she told me she would speak to her supervisor. The supervisor said charge her anyway. And basically didn't care about our not being happy. Screw them. read more

I used Molloy Bros/Mayflower to move from NYC to Denver in November. They gave me a 10 day delivery window and I started my Denver lease on the first date of that window to be sure I was set up. I then flew to Denver from NYC specifically to meet the truck. AFTER I arrived here, ONE DAY before my delivery window, I was informed that my delivery had been DELAYED for TWO MORE WEEKS. Thus costing me money in rent for an empty apartment and a roundtrip flight to Denver for no reason (another 2K on top of the moving costs). My shipment had not even left NYC and it had been 3 weeks since they picked it up. Local Molloy Bros said there was nothing they could do so instructed me to call Mayflower customer service. Customer service said I did not qualify for automatic reimbursement because my move did not meet the weight requirement so they offered to send me an air bed and gave me $200 of "goodwill." My move was $4000, add onto that another $2000 spent to meet my delivery which did not come. For that money I expect them to uphold their end of the contract and also to respect their single family customers that use their company. I have never experienced such horrible service. I paid for what I thought was a reputable company and would NEVER recommend using them. They break contract and do not care. They broker trucks/driver/etc so they have ZERO control over your belongings. I also had things stolen from my boxes (mugs, costume jewelry) and these were boxes I packed myself. This company has many locations so I just picked one to write the review. Although, the one I used was in LI...I think but I live in Manhattan and they came in to do their thing. After some horror encounters with some other companies I decided to go with this company b/c I used them before in the past and they were very punctual. I am amazing at their systematic fashion to moving. They were here early, packed up everything with appropriate labels for the move the following day. I was just watching the efficency of the guys. The following day, they were just as organized. Got there early, moved everything out and moved everything in...carefully and thoughtfully. I was very happy with the service they provided and although, it was relatively costly (2k), I felt I got my money's worth. No frustrations and they put everything into their appropriate places. All I had to do was open boxes and unload. THey were already in the right rooms. read more

Not a happy customer...buyer beware, sales pitch deceptive - made us believe our move from NY to PA would require 2 crews, 2 trucks and 2 days; guess we had prepared ourselves so well - it only took 1 crew, 1 truck, 1 day... effort didn't match PRICE! Shop around, learn from our mistake - go with a company that allows YOU to save (credit) if job is over estimated, otherwise THEY laugh all the way to their bank. Two antique pieces severely damaged - legs ripped off - treasured alabaster sculpture of sentimental value disappeared, air con unit disappeared, "fragile" boxes crushed, wardrobe box crushed to half height. Saw one man dropping a box from a height. Was promised that truck would remain in secure facility overnight but crew said they stayed in hotel; have asked company three times to confirm where it was, without reply. Have asked for details of head of company three times - ignored. Have warned two families about to move to avoid this company. Wish I had never heard of them. read more

Use these guys if you want to get ripped off. After they came and did an estimate of $4400 for our one bedroom apartment in Hoboken we decided to go with them. The estimate was based on the estimated weight of the stuff we would have. We thought this was fine as it was an estimate and they assured us that they would provide us with the actual weight when everything is loaded into the truck. At which time we would receive a refund if the weight came in lower. They sent us a contract and we signed everything based on what we were told and the content of the contract. Everything was packed and moved. However when it arrived, there were numerous items broken, damaged, and missing. Worst of all, the weight came in lower, over 800 pounds lower and they never gave us a refund. The gave us the run around and told us we signed a contract that was not bound by weight even though 5 people that work for them told us we would get a refund if the weight was lower. All they kept saying was that we signed a contract that was not bound by weight. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE THIEVES AND THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! read more

LIARS & HORRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. When the agent from Molloy Bros, Marie, came to do our moving estimate she said that we would only be billed for the actual weight of our items. It turns out our shipment was 1000 pounds less than her estimate. However, we are now being told that we will not be getting a refund because the agent Lora either deliberately or out of sheer incompetence, gave us the wrong contract. This despite the fact that we were told numerous times by Marie, Lora, and the actual moving guys that we would be getting a refund due to the difference in weight. We've called everyone to correct this issue, including Mayflower, and keep getting the run around. I will be telling everyone I know NOT to ever use your services! read more

It took a month for the check to be mailed and the office tried to make us feel like they were doing us a favor. Overall: If you've got stuff that's delicate, fragile or old, they will take care of it. In terms of dinnerware, not a single plate or cup got broken. In a previous move with a different company, three dinner plates bit the dust. if you want quality on-the-ground movers and don't mind dealing with a frustrating front office, then go for it. --- Original, Jan. 4, 2015. My husband and I recently moved from New York to Nashville. It was our third long haul move in three years. We've used different movers each time and have not had an experience before Molloy Brothers that warranted a negative review. It needs to be noted that the men who came to the apartment in both locations were friendly, careful, efficient -- everything you want in movers. Both sets took great care with a 250-year old dresser. Arrived without a scratch. The problem is with the office and scheduling staff. They are unhelpful, unresponsive and intentionally deceptive. We opted for the crate option versus the truck move because there was less of a delivery range. We were on a schedule due to changing jobs. They chose the delivery date; it worked for us so we agreed. The representative who came to the apartment and the account representative preached that if the cargo arrived after the contractual delivery date they would refund $100 per day. My credit card was charged the full amount five days after pick up -- a week before the delivery-- as part of the agreement. The day before the delivery date the account representative, Jade, was unable to tell us the whereabouts of the crates. It was not in Tennessee; they didn't know when it would be delivered or if they would be able to make the delivery date. On the day, it was hour by hour, but they still didn't know where it was or when it would be delivered. In short, it was two days late and the office was rude and evasive. One even began rattling incoherently about Superstorm Sandy in 2012 to evade my questions about the location of my stuff. The discount was not received because they said the week following the late delivery that there was a weight minimum and we didn't meet that weight. There was no mention of weight minimum in the run up to the move. I had to chase Jeanne, possibly the accounting manager, for two days to even get her on the phone. She did not follow through on calls or emails as promised. Jeanne said they would refund the $200 "as a gesture of goodwill." It did not happen and I never heard from her again. I cut my losses and will also be reviewing at the BBB. The physical movers are great. The office and schedulers are evasive and deceptive. read more

Moving is stressful alone but moving out of state with three weeks to make it happen is the icing on the cake. Rob Gutmann & Diane Gaines were absolute pleasures to work with and made this stressful time so much easier for me and my family. This was a move from Long Island, NY (Coram) to Livermore, CA. Two bedroom apartment. I would say all in all, my experience with Molloy Bros was very good. Mr. Macdonald (who came for the estimate) was very nice and professional and helpful in all aspects of the initial meeting. He was even flexible with some of the pricing when presented with the competitor's offering. The pick up was pretty smooth. The movers came a bit a late (I think it was 1-2 hours) which was a little inconvenient because I needed to go take care of some errands. It all turned out alright, they wrapped everything up that needed wrapping and they team was courteous and quick. Everything was taken that was supposed to be. The only sort of disappointing part of the move was how long it took for our belongings to get to us. We knew ahead of time what the window was (up to 4 or 5 weeks), so it was not that there was any miscommunication initially, but after 10 days of being in California, it was disconcerting to learn that our belongings were still sitting in NY. The tracking software was nice and let us know where our truck was as it crossed the US, so that was convenient. Finally, the guys who delivered the goods were quick and professional just like the pickup. They were late as well (1-2 hours), but they did apologize and explain what had caused the delay. At that point, we were just happy to get our stuff before the July 4 weekend as we had spent 2 weeks sleeping in our living room on air mattresses. All in all, I would say our experience with this company was positive given the service and for sure the price. No one gave us the run around. When we had questions, they were answered. I think the price is what blew me away the most. I was bracing for a 5-10k tag on a cross country move. A couple of the quotes from other companies confirmed that. Also, the flexibility on what was taken. We were unable to sell our couch at the last minute, but since we were able to ship a good amount with our car transport, we were happy that Mayflower was willing to take the couch with no adder. That was a stress relief for sure. My only suggestion is to follow up with your move coordinator if you want to know when your things will be shipped since the tracker is useless until the truck is moving. Besides that, this is a solid company that knows how to get moves done for a very reasonable price. read more

Would never recommend nor use this company again. Estimate was off by $1,000 and they couldn't explain it; they lost over $10,000 worth of belongings, including 1 (ONE) dining room chair. Their sales force was unprofessional and didn't return phone calls and once they go the contract, she was out of the picture. The sales person made commitments for the movers that the movers couldn't keep (she said they knew how to pack and unpack a grandfather clock). The sales rep was a really nice, understanding, fair guy. We appreciated his knowledge and advice and fair pricing. We were confident from his professional appearance and experience that we had the right moving company. The movers who came to pick up were exceptional. They were really great at taking all precautions they could with big bulky and fragile furniture items. They didn't complain about heavy items, they just did their job and did it well. The driver was very good at keeping on top of everything, the tagging of items and the order of which the movers should load and unload. After everything, only one book shelf was lost, which was disappointing but, this was a big move from ny to Florida so, we didn't stress over that. We want to highly recommend this company and their employees. They are very reputable and per our experience were dependable and worth the price. They delivered in a reasonable amount of time, were always early in the day they were scheduled, very well done, hard workers, not complainers. We were very happy overall except for a few things but, again, we mainly trusted them and the trust was not for nothing. We had a lot of boxes and they all got here as far as we can tell. It pays to go with a company like this that has been in the business for so long! They don't take payment until the end and everything looks delivered. Trust me, it is worth using them for your move.
