After debating for a while between I decided to order the lavender vanilla and the seasonal Milky Moon Bar flavors in a split single scoop, although I was sorely tempted by the Milky Moon Bar Sundae! I had a wonderful, amazing ice cream experience again at Molly Moon's. It was definitely the kind of ice cream you can say. Oh I'm having ice cream for dinner and then get a really awesome Sunday that feels satisfying. I tried the yeti flavor with strawberry ice cream, homemade whipped cream, the vanilla bean caramel and waffle cone pieces with a cherry on top. Everything was excellent except for the Cherry. I know this is sort of a cultural difference between the East and West Coast, but I'm a firmly a maraschino cherry person and I think that you don't have to reinvent the wheel. I do think it is disappointing that you get a cherry pie filling gelatinous subtle tasting mushy cherry on top. It just doesn't hit like a maraschino cherry and I don't understand why they can't just get maraschino cherries or go this extra mile because they want to be bougie and do the luxardo cherries. The cherry pie filling feels like it should go on top of a cheesecake. It doesn't feel like it should go on top of ice cream. There's no stem. No flirty tying stem in your mouth moment. Just like gooey red pie filling. At least I actually got cherries in the pie filling this time and it wasn't just the goo. Marshino cherries don't have a goo so I think it's really throwing me off that there is a goo happening at all on top. The servers, the scoopers excellent, excellent, excellent. The whole neighborhood is like a Hallmark neighborhood full of beautiful people and their very beautiful children. Certainly an upscale ice cream but extremely good and probably still would be my first choice over driving far away to go somewhere else. I compare a baseline ice cream to the McDonald's saucer vanilla cone, the McDonald's custards vanilla cone is hands down. One of the most consistent and delicious soft serves vanilla out there. Molly Moon's hits the same fattiness creaminess satisfyingly sweet in that really custardy creamy way that makes your ice cream experience that good. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having icy Molly moons ice cream. It's very fresh and very creamy, I really enjoyed the yeti flavor. I'm glad I tried it. I really enjoyed the strawberry and I got the impression that it was natural strawberries and not artificial strawberries or strawberry flavoring. I really like that and it was so yummy with the caramel waffle cone white whipped cream classic Sunday I was trying to build. I mean every bite was just heavenly except for the one where I felt like I was eating the Cherry because I had to. It's just weird. I would love to see them improve that. But you know you can't have everything be perfect. I think knowing when to stop improving on the classics is important but so far I feel like the Cherry is the only thing that feels like they've gone too far in the wrong direction because they're trying too hard. It's exactly what you imagine deluxe ice cream to be. It's delicious, relatively expensive dessert in an extremely small, tastefully furnished little establishment. Vibes are so very, very downtown Edmonds (think cursive poem written on a piece of beechwood,) which contributes the high prices. Oh, and the dietary limitation accommodations are excellent. Each flavor and topping is labeled with the common allergens it contains, they've always allowed me to read ingredient lists as I have some more unusual allergies, and the employees fully grasp the concept and concerns of cross-contamination. Since then I have had vegan ice cream off and on depending on what the offered flavors are. Looking over the flavors at the Molly Moon's location on Main Street in Edmonds this evening, Wednesday 30 August 2023, I spotted a season flavor I wanted to try. A brownie batter ice cream, which just so happened to be vegan. The store front was easy to spot from Main Street, with the name higher on the building to help with visibility. The entrance was on the side, and workers behind the counter were ready to take my order when it was my turn. I went with the scoop in a cup, which was decorated with a custom design. The ice cream was thick, smooth, and rich. It did not melt too fast and I enjoyed every bite. Best brownie batter or brownie ice cream I have had, vegan or otherwise. read more

My friends and I decided to do a little pizza + beach + ice cream night and sat outside in the cold enjoying a delicious sundae from Molly Moon's. I had only ever been to the University Village location once before and never really went out of my way to go all the way down to get it again, so I'm really glad we now have a location closer to me. I went for a half scoop of Yeti and half scoop of the seasonal berry cobbler flavor, topped with pepita crumble, hazelnuts, and they topped it with whip and a cherry. Both ice cream flavors were so deliciously refreshing that my mouth is watering as I write this. The pepita crumble was also good - it's a simple pumpkin seed toffee but the nutty caramel mixed with the cold, creamy ice cream sure did hit the spot. Molly Moon is a local favorite around Seattle area, but is it only me? or they have gone really really average. I'm glad they opened a location 10 mins from my house, but every time I visited, I felt very underwhelmed. I feel like their regular flavors cannot compete with other artisan shops anymore. Their sea salt caramel is still extremely salty. They are determined to help their customers to intake too much salt. As for their seasonal flavors, I haven't been impressed for a long time. I really loved one of their berry specials a few summers ago. That's it. I will probably start taking friends and visitors from out of states to other places for ice cream from now on. read more

Super creamy and flavors taste "real", not artificially flavored. S'Mores ice cream had lots of chocolate, graham, and marshmallow chunks, and the ice cream was rich and creamy. The whipped chocolate ganache was to die for; very rich and chocolatey. Is it expensive? A bit. But it is a splurge, and it is premium ice cream, and it is in fancy pants downtown Edmonds, so not unreasonable.
