I can't believe I haven't been to MollyO's before. They've been open about 3 years. I feel like I can really celebrate my Irish heritage here. I like the dark, green colors and of course they were playing some fun Irish pub music. The service was great, but we were also the only people in the pub besides the two people who were working. Today, I came in to try their Irish Breakfast and watch some Rugby! A traditional Irish breakfast must contain Black and White pudding (a ground sausage, oatmeal and spices), Irish sausage (tastes like a banger), Irish bacon (more like thinly sliced ham), eggs. and tomato baked beans. Molly Os is a great addition to the downtown Belmont area. It's spacious and there's a ton of seating without feeling overly cramped. Our group of 6 shared 7 dishes and we got Irish car bombs. Ian (I think that was his name), a Newcastle fan, was a great host and got me seated as soon as I arrived. I ordered the Eggs Florentine and a coffee. You know even though I do not live in this town, I spend some time here. And honestly, we went up and down the street looking for a new venue to try. Went with my cousin Rick..and we finally decided we land upon this gem. Our server was a great guy, with family that hails from Ireland..Aiden is proud of his history, and rightfully so. Nice family owned Irish bar tucked in on San Carlos Ave. My friend and I popped in on Saturday to grab a bite to eat. The places wasn't too busy so we decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was welcoming and friendly. We ordered some sausage roll, fish and chips and a couple of Espresso Martinis. The martinis were about the best I've had. The food was equally delicious. Fish was lightly battered, tender inside and crispy outside. The chips were French fries, I prefer the larger potato cuts, but these were pretty good. They also have several tv to watch sporting event and live music on certain days. I think it's a great place to go and hang out with friends. read more

Molly O's seems to be a relatively new addition to the comforting San Carlos Laurel St. area and I'm so glad I've discovered it. I can't put an exact pulse on whether it is a bar or a restaurant but it sure has an Irish Pub vibe. Slightly dark, lots of wood, a Guiness dispenser, and a relatively bustling scene. Now this certainly isn't your true Irish Pub or an alcohol first place like Marvin Gardens down El Camino. It makes a great balance of beer and food and that's what you exactly need in a family-centric area like San Carlos. It shouldn't be weird to walk into Molly O's with another colleague or a date night drink, but also it is perfectly comfortable to take your family with kids. A restaurant business in San Carlos cannot survive only trying to serve the office / night-out crowd as that is the minority. And thus, San Carlos residents always struggle when you just want a quick night out with your buddies or adult chat. And like I said, Molly O's manages to create that Irish Pub but not neglecting families. The food is obviously comfort-food style. Good portions. Slight Irish twist such as Fish and Chips and Irish Stew French Fries. Again, tasted fine and way above average for a pub. And they seem to be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as everything in between so this could come across a bit dubious whether they'll get even one of them right. The bar area is gorgeous and everything is very clean and sparkly. There's an upper floor for group/parties or when the downstairs gets crowded. I dined during happy hour (3-5pm daily) and the first thing I said, "Could I get a Smithwick's, please?" My all time fav beer on earth. Gorgeous red ale is so smooth and the taste is chef's kiss perfect. I could drink 10 of them they're that good. The red ale is from Ireland where I was first introduced to the sudsy delight. Next up! I need some pub grub. I ordered the Sausage Rolls to start. These are a must order when you stop by. They're homemade Irish deliciousness. I also ordered the Crab Louie salad with some proper Irish breads and butter. The food is all delicious and very nice quality ingredients. My order total set me back about $48 before tip. I ordered quite bit expecting to take home my leftovers for later. I believe they have live music Thursdays through Sundays in the evenings. From what I've read, they're super busy nightly, which I'm happy to hear. I hope these folks stay around a while. A few friends and I decided to check out the new Irish Pub in San Carlos. We met the owner, Oliver, who was very nice and told us about the new establishment. The place is named after his grandmother, Molly. We thought this was so sweet! The menu has photos of his grandparents and also shared the history. Such a nice touch. They just opened last week and are slowly adding items to the menu and will be having a DJ and a band in the coming months. We tried the sliders, shepherds pie, and bangers and mash. The sweet onions and melted cheese on the juicy sliders were amazing! It tasted great with Guinness! The shepherds pie and the bangers and mash were delicious too. The service was great too! What a great addition to San Carlos! We had a really nice meal at Molly O's and enjoyed not only the food, but the general feel of the restaurant (we all think it feels a bit more like a restaurant than a pub). We started with the Irish sausage rolls and the potato skins. The rolls were unexpected in that the filling was minced sausage not a piece of sausage, thus the texture was softer than we had assumed. Tasty but not our favorite. The skins, on the other hand were unexpected (red potatoes) and wonderful - delicious mixture of cheese, bacon, tomatoes and onions. Yum. Our order of fries was huge, and, sadly, we ate them all. The Irish stew is outstanding. Far more flavorful and full of tender beef than the version we had in Ireland. The corned beef and cabbage - wonderful lean corned beef, good carrots and potatoes, but bland cabbage. The sliders were good, too - a mixture of beef and corned beef, etc. some of the flavors were hard to pick out. Bread pudding was excellent! Our waiter, was excellent - Garek - friendly and helpful. Came here for a family dinner and we all greatly enjoyed the experience. You seat yourself when you arrive - there were plenty of tables to choose from on a quiet weeknight so we were able to find a comfy area with no issue. I like that they have a kids menu here as my children are young and one is a very picky eater. We were able to order some chicken tenders and fries for them while the adults got a traditional irish stew and a spicy irish sandwich (corned beef with cheese and a bunch of other toppings on a french roll). The food was all fantastic - it tasted authentic, freshly cooked, and was comfort food deliciousness. We only wish there was more of it that came on the plate. They provide complimentary bread for the table which I think were a couple types of sweet soda bread which were fresh and paired nicely with the heaviness of the entrees. Came here on a Wednesday night at around 6:30. There was ample seating and we were the only ones at the bar. This is a really enjoyable place to hang out in. The folks behind the bar are very friendly. We went there to have appys and beer (Guinness of course) for dinner. Potato skins: 3.5/5. These were topped with cheese and bacon bits, so how can you go wrong with these? While many folks on Yelp rave about them, I thought they were pretty good, but not great. One surprising thing about them is that while they are called "potato skins," the potatoes are cut width-wise leaving skin only on the outside edges. The good news is that there is less potato guts waste, but the bad news is less skin. Corned Beef Sliders: 5/5. Now these were great! The corned beef was really flavorful and a little crispy, and was a delight to eat on those buns. Chocolate Guinness cake: 4/5. Fairly light with a fun crisp texture in the middle. One negative thing: when I got the receipt, I noticed that the suggested tip amounts (for a 15%, 18%, 20% tip) were based on the total bill amount (after taxes were added).
