Stopped by again for another Sunday brunch and was not disappointed. The special of stuffed French toast was absolutely delicious, and the side of kielbasa exceeded expectations--so flavorful! The mimosas were perfect, as always, making it feel like the ultimate home-style brunch experience. With friendly service and that welcoming, neighborhood charm, this spot is my go-to for a relaxing breakfast close to home.

The wait staff is always friendly and everything is reasonably priced. The food is what you expect in a dinner. I like that I can get a decent breakfast without killing my wallet.

First time here and waitress was welcoming . Food was delish and seasoning was perfect I didn't have to put salt. I recommended this place if you haven't ate there. I will be coming back again.

BEST BREAKFAST!! THE SERVICE WAS FAST AND AMAZING . My husband & I were craving breakfast but we woke up late so we came to this mom and pop diner and luckily the cook there decided to say yes to breakfast because they stop breakfast at 2pm and we can came at like 1:50 but anyways please come here if you want good breakfast and great service ! Which you don't really get here in Norfolk now a days !!! Everybody there is so nice . We will definitely be back here

Mom & Pops is your typical local diner joint. Don't expect anything too fancy or to be "wow'd" here. Our eggs Benedict and egg meal was nothing out of the ordinary. The hot cocoa was delicious though so it stole the show. Service was fast and friendly. Overall just a very casual and typical visit to a local diner. For what it is, it did meet my expectations.

If I come back, I'd probably just pick food up for a cheap meal. The prices were good, but the place had an odd smell. Kind of like old mop water. I tried the special of the day, which was lasagna and a salad. The "Caesar salad" was a bunch of lettuce tossed in Caesar dressing. The lasagna wasn't bad. There wasn't much presentation, but the flavors were good. I can say the same thing about the tiramisu. The best part of the meal was the bread. But it's hard to miss when you have a French baguette and butter. Very low effort, I'm kind of indifferent about the place.

In fact, I'm known among…read moremy friends and family as a very critical eater--some have even jokingly called me a food critic. So for me to take the time to write this says a lot. From the moment we walked into Oceanview Diner, we felt at home. There was an immediate warmth--like stepping into what America is supposed to feel like--people talking, laughing, and genuinely connecting over good food. The attention to detail was impossible to miss. Fresh-cut flowers sat on each table, adding a simple but thoughtful touch. Before our meals even arrived, we were served homemade herb focaccia with olive oil--an unexpected and appreciated gesture. And yes, even the water stood out. Being near the ocean, you often get that slightly earthy taste, but this water was clean, crisp, and clearly filtered. Now, the food. I ordered the Parmesan-crusted chicken with roasted potatoes and collard greens. The chicken was juicy (not dry at all) and cooked perfectly--something that sounds simple but is rarely executed this well. The collards were good, though I personally would've liked just a touch more salt and a splash of vinegar to bring them fully to life. My partner ordered the fried flounder with asparagus and mashed potatoes and had nothing but praise. Not a single morsel was left on the plate, which tells you everything you need to know. Oceanview Diner delivered not just a meal, but an experience rooted in care, pride, and hospitality. Thank you for an amazing visit--continued success to you, and a huge job well done to the kitchen staff.

I enjoyed the Fried Chicken sandwich which also comes with boardwalk fries which are sinfully good. The chicken sandwich is a favorite with just the right amount of pickles, Surry ham, and arugula. The aioli is a nice and tasty addition to the sandwich. The Lobster Roll was also ordered at our table. It was enjoyed by the guest although it seemed like quite a small meal presentation especially for the price of $28.50. It was served on a small plate and just didn't look like a $30 dinner. We also ordered the Halloumi Fries which were underwhelming in size and taste. We love Halloumi so this was a bit of a disappointment. Our server was fantastic. She knew the specials and the happy hour deals etc for the night which I believe for us was 20% off of our glass of wine. She was friendly and prompt with everything. We arrived about 11:50 AM and weren't sure if we should seat ourselves. The place was busy and the family that arrived after us had a short wait. The dining area has a cozy, local beach vibe with fresh colors and refreshingly diverse mix of diners. We asked the bartender about seating and she responded "he's coming now to seat u." A friendly elderly gentleman headed our way and slowly showed us to our table. The waitress came a few minutes later and was friendly despite how busy she clearly was. Drinks were ordered and a few minutes later she took our food order. The food was a bit slow coming out but I tend to expect that on Sundays at busy local spots. My husband got the pancake breakfast and I ordered a 2 egg breakfast. The pancakes were delicious and so was the sourdough toast that came with my meal. I subbed handcut fries for the breakfast potatoes and while the fries tasted good... they were room temp as were my husband potatoes which were also under seasoned. I was hoping that the longer wait for food would mean it was going to come out hot. (But no luck) Overall, I'd come back. Side note: tipped the waitress a $20 on a $40 tab because my husband said "no change needed" before I could tell him I only had 3 $20 dollar bills. Instead of chasing her down I decided maybe it would earn me a kindness karma point somewhere along the line, lol.

And they had New Orleans-style music playing through the sound system. Very relaxing. After looking through the menu, I was ready to place my order. I chose their fish special, which was salmon with veggies and a sauce (forgot the name). This dish was very good. It was probably the best cooked salmon I've ever had. When you see seafood with the perfect crust and a lot of flavor, you're in heaven. It did have a small bone and I felt it lacked the amount of squash and zucchini, but again, a wonderful meal. There was one situation which resulted in only a 4-star review. Out of curiousity, I saw on Facebook that they offered $5 discounts. I did let my party know and we were all ready to use them when the bill was ready. But the staff told us the discount was to be used on a table rather than an individual ticket. When we looked both on Facebook and our personal emails, none of that verbage was mentioned. Not trying to sound harsh, but please be sure to state every detail foe customers.
