First time here and waitress was welcoming . Food was delish and seasoning was perfect I didn't have to put salt. I recommended this place if you haven't ate there. I will be coming back again.

The wait staff is always friendly and everything is reasonably priced. The food is what you expect in a dinner. I like that I can get a decent breakfast without killing my wallet.

Mom & Pops is your typical local diner joint. Don't expect anything too fancy or to be "wow'd" here. Our eggs Benedict and egg meal was nothing out of the ordinary. The hot cocoa was delicious though so it stole the show. Service was fast and friendly. Overall just a very casual and typical visit to a local diner. For what it is, it did meet my expectations.

If I come back, I'd probably just pick food up for a cheap meal. The prices were good, but the place had an odd smell. Kind of like old mop water. I tried the special of the day, which was lasagna and a salad. The "Caesar salad" was a bunch of lettuce tossed in Caesar dressing. The lasagna wasn't bad. There wasn't much presentation, but the flavors were good. I can say the same thing about the tiramisu. The best part of the meal was the bread. But it's hard to miss when you have a French baguette and butter. Very low effort, I'm kind of indifferent about the place.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, it's conveniently located right around the corner from home. I would also say pricing is pretty reasonable. I took my son here for lunch one afternoon when he was out of school. Funny about the name, because of course I'm a mom and my sons nickname is pop. Lol I ordered the gyro. It was very good, The lamb was perfectly cooked & the tzatziki sauce was very flavorful. My son got a BLT on sourdough, his bread was extremely hard. The bacon was also kind of skimpy. We also got spanakopita to share, It was good however I prefer mine to be on more on the flaky side. I would certainly give it a try again, maybe they were just having a little bit of an off day. But all in all service was great, they were quick and efficient so for that I cannot complain.

I was taken care of by the chef and she was very helpful with the menu. They have so many appetizing options on their mostly healthy, all fresh menu. I love soup, so I love that they offer several each day, with some standards, plus a soup of the day, which on the day I visited was cream of potato. Where I sat at the counter, I could watch them making all the food and I was impressed to see that they don't just ladle soup into a bowl to serve it, they actually cook and prepare, then dress it to plate it perfectly. Their cream of potato was really good and not the traditionally made where the potato is pureed into the soup - rather they make a creamy soup base and then add potatoes to it. The combo of the soup, a small piece of potato, scallion, and a small piece of bacon really made for a great spoonful in each spoonful I enjoyed!! My coworker got their Asian Chicken Noodle and that looked amazing! He said it was incredible. Next up was the entrée and we both got their lamb gyro.... It's not the traditional gyro, it's an openfaced style, just like their chicken salad toast. It was really good! The tzatziki was great on it! And we also got a side of their cucumber feta salad... this tasted fresh and the feta was vibrant, with the combo of the cucumber and feta together being incredibly tasty. Overall, another very nice visit to a Stockpot restaurant... Looks like I need to try their Chesapeake location to get the trifecta of Stockpot! Highly recommend stopping in!

The restaurant was very clean, and since it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. The staff was welcoming and friendly. A few minutes after we placed our order, we were informed that they were out of breakfast potatoes, which was surprising since it was still before 10 a.m. This limited some of the breakfast options, so I ended up ordering the Selden Breakfast (a biscuit sandwich), a kid's chicken noodle soup, a biscuit on the side, and a lavender matcha. The sandwich was delicious, especially after adding the garlic aioli. My only complaint was that the biscuit wasn't served warm, and I think warming it would have elevated the sandwich. The biscuit we ordered on the side was also not warm. The lavender flavor in the matcha was enjoyable, but the drink itself missed the mark. The color and matcha flavor seemed off, and it wasn't mixed well--I could see clumps of matcha powder sitting in the ice. On a positive note, my nephew really enjoyed the chicken noodle soup. Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience, but there were enough positives that I'd be willing to come back and give it another try.

It jiggled when I tapped it and the side salad tasted great with dill in it and it brightened up things. The combination of both was great. The crust on the quiche was nice as well. My spouse enjoyed their sandwich but didn't realize there was mustard so he ended up just using the chips to eat his egg and sausage. His egg was also fluffy. From the moment we walked into Oceanview Diner, we felt at home. There was an immediate warmth--like stepping into what America is supposed to feel like--people talking, laughing, and genuinely connecting over good food. The attention to detail was impossible to miss. Fresh-cut flowers sat on each table, adding a simple but thoughtful touch. Before our meals even arrived, we were served homemade herb focaccia with olive oil--an unexpected and appreciated gesture. And yes, even the water stood out. Being near the ocean, you often get that slightly earthy taste, but this water was clean, crisp, and clearly filtered. Now, the food. I ordered the Parmesan-crusted chicken with roasted potatoes and collard greens. The chicken was juicy (not dry at all) and cooked perfectly--something that sounds simple but is rarely executed this well. The collards were good, though I personally would've liked just a touch more salt and a splash of vinegar to bring them fully to life. My partner ordered the fried flounder with asparagus and mashed potatoes and had nothing but praise. Not a single morsel was left on the plate, which tells you everything you need to know. Oceanview Diner delivered not just a meal, but an experience rooted in care, pride, and hospitality. Thank you for an amazing visit--continued success to you, and a huge job well done to the kitchen staff.

It has been nearly three weeks; I can stop thinking about No Frill Bar and Grill…read more I'm a military spouse, so I know my time in Hampton Roads is coming to an end soon. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.
