Food here was absolutely delicious, and the service was amazing! My friend and I were visiting Seattle for Memorial Day weekend, and this was my favorite meal during our time here. We walked in right around 5:45pm without a reservation and were able to take advantage of their happy hour (4-6pm) menu. They give you generously salted edamame as a starter. I also got a Sapporo beer, and my friend ordered a lychee martini. For food, we ordered the agedashi tofu, two sets of sushi set B, a spicy rainbow roll, and a street fighter roll. The fish in the sushi sets was fresh and sliced thick (yum!!). All of the flavors worked well together, and the portions were so generous. We may or may not have ordered way too much food, haha. Service was wonderful. They helped us arrange the plates to fit on the table and were on top of removing any empty dishes. Our waters were always topped off, and they checked on us regularly. Overall, it was a great dining experience. The interior was modern and clean, and the ambiance was perfect - not too loud but also not too quiet. Hey Seattle! It's my Birthday and hubs surprised me with a trip to one of my fav cities. Prob THE fav lol. First night, had a taste for some sushi. It's my bday so I want some great sushi. I looked on Reddit then compared it to TikTok and decided on Momiji SLU location. There was a 30 min waste for inside or 10 for heated lamps, we decided to wait. I don't think it was quite 30 minutes. One thing I will say is that the tables are kind of small. They start you off with complementary edamame and somebody comes and fills your cups up with water. You can only really order two rolls at a time maybe three depending on the size of the roll. We started with the salmon sampler shrimp, scallop Gyoza. And two sushi rolls. One was called the knockout roll, which was really good clean fresh flavors. My last bite I had a taste of cilantro and it was really good, I wonder was the rest wasn't like that? the other one was king ghidorah, It was OK almost kind of like it was missing. Something new was more just basic. We tried one more roll called the Pike Place roll. This one is made with crispy salmon, skin, and I think topped with salmon but oddly enough some of the rolls do not have any salmon on them just avocado. Some of the rolls have salmon from both sides and then some of the roll had avocado on one side and salmon on the other. We didn't really like this roll. Maybe because the two pieces I had just had avocado on top. It was after the second piece when I realized there was no fish as I was talking through the flavors of the roll. We got the garlic short ribs to go. We each try a piece before leaving and they are good. They just taste like Korean short rib ribs. We asked if the last roll could be removed from the tab and he said he would have to ask his manager. First time to eat here. We had lunch today. I had the Lunch Sashimi with rice. Price was affordable, considering it had 8 nice pieces of assorted sashimi. It came with a bowl of rice and soup. My wife had the Nigiri, 8 pieces with California Roll. It also came with miso soup. Both dishes were artfully presented, the fish freshest as they come, with beautiful color. The Miso soup was hot and rich tasting. The decor is bright and airy, with a soaring ceiling and large clear windows. There's ample seating, both indoor and outdoor. There are large tables that accommodated huge group parties of Amazon employees. There's a second floor with more seating. There's an open kitchen with a nice bar. The servers were warm and friendly. There's a casual vibe that's highly agreeable at this restaurant. There's street parking outside. The restrooms are upstairs, but there's an elevator for those unable to go up the stairs. As a rule, I tip 20% and appreciate the payment machines that preselect that for me. Unfortunately, after I got home, I discovered that their 20% is actually 22.11%. If you're looking for good quality sushi I recommend trying Momiji SLU. We came during their happy hour (4-6pm) on a Friday evening and were immediately seated. The interior has two floors making it feel more spacious. Staff were friendly and our server was attentive and made sure to check up on us throughout our dinner. Their happy hour prices are reasonable, but I was really surprised on the variety of specialty rolls they have on their dinner menu. It was so hard to choose. From their happy hour menu we tried their Crispy Calamari and hot and cold sake. From their dinner menu we tried the Legend of Kaiju roll and from the seasonal menu, the Flaming Godzilla roll. The seafood was so fresh, delicate and paired perfectly with the sake. The calamari was cut thin, lightly battered and tender; it went well with the green curry aioli. Our server was really professional and also helped us with recommendations. The ambience is pretty and can be a date night spot or a good happy hour with friends spot. I ordered a lychee martini which had some ingredients I was unfamiliar with that left a weird burning aftertaste. I don't mind a spicy cocktail but this is definitely not what I expected. We have been to the Cap Hil Momiji; this is the first time at the SLU location. The host was friendly and took us to a table - the only table that the sun is shining on in the entire empty restaurant. We have been outside in the sun for hours and wanted to be in the shade. With a polite request, he switched us to a (bigger) table away from the sun. Phew. Thank you for that. The interior is modern utilitarian - not much warmth or "Japanese" in here. The staff is super polite, taking our orders, delivering our food, and refilling the water. It happened to be happy hour when we arrived. We took advantage of the HH pricing and ordered a HH early dinner. The Food: HH Spider Roll, $10 - 3 Stars This was the first dish to arrive, which is baffling. It should not have been so fast. Upon closer examination, I see the soft-shell crab was pre-fried. They are room temp, not hot. They weren't stale, but they weren't fresh, either. Disappointing. The execution of the rest of the roll met expectations. HH Hamachi Kama, $13 - 4 Stars I looked at this piece of kama (fish collar) for a very long time. I actually thought I was looking at a fish tail until I figured out the anatomy. I am pretty sure it is a pelvic fin (lower forward fin). It is a good size kama portion, especially considering the $13 price. The grilling is pretty good, perhaps a touch dry but not overly so. The flavor is good, too. It even comes with a side salad that is excellent. HH Garlic Short Ribs, $11 - 3.5 Stars These are seasoned/flavored per expectations, but the cut is thinner than what I might get from a Korean restaurant. For the price, it is a reasonable snack size. HH Sushi Set B, $11 - 2.5 Stars These four pieces of sushi have a "refrigerated" fish type of dryness and texture. Look at the photo. You can see the lack of top moisture as though it has been exposed to the flow of cold air in a fridge. The cut and portion side are good, but I wouldn't order this again if that's how they store/serve their sushi. HH Tempura Platter, $9 - 4 Stars This is a deal for tempura mix plate. They are well executed tempura pieces, too. HH Agedashi Tofu, $8 - 4 Stars This is a higher price agedashi tofu (even as HH), but they did a good job sprucing up the norm. Each of the five pieces is topped differently with spring onions, bonito flakes, seaweed, daikon (traditional), and grated ginger. I opted to mix all the toppings into the generous broth and ate the tofu pieces with a spoonful of a broth. It is tasty! Overall, the kitchen dishes were better than the sushi dishes. I am rounding the rating up to a 4 Stars because of their reasonable HH pricing. If I paid full price, I would have rounded down to 3 Stars. read more

At the Capitol Hill location the service was quick, and the servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and the food items. At this location it definitely felt like I was going in blind. Wonderful location to sit outside if the weather if nice! We got two drinks. Two speciality rolls and two standard rolls. The spider roll was solid, and we enjoyed the geisha roll (very unique flavors and fresh!). Would skip the SLU roll. Extremely sweet and covered in a sauce that overpowered the rest of the roll. This was my second time visiting this location. You can easily find parking by the spheres and walk over. There is also plenty street parking. There is a downstairs and a few tables upstairs. We were seated upstairs around 5:30pm Ordered 3 rolls. Geisha roll, moonraker and hotter than hell. I ordered the geisha roll last time and I loved it. It has mango in it and a nice kick. Moonraker is a simple roll and was the only non spicy roll so added some balance. Hotter than hell had carrot in it, which I wasn't the biggest fan of. Overall pretty decent sushi experience. The nigiri was standout. I've been searching for a new place since moving and I think this is it. We opted for the chef selection which included a good variety of fish, flavors, and seasonings. The fish was so fresh and I wished that we had just ordered even more nigiri at the end! Though the rolls were also good. We opted for some of the specials which again had very fresh fish and interesting flavors. We also tried the special katsu sandwich which was tasty but not as good as the sushi. Cocktail menu is fun and has a lot of twists on classics. They also have fun names! I felt truly blessed because even though we came out on a busy Friday night, we were able to sit down immediately outside. We had made a reservation (which I would recommend) but for the wrong night!
