    Happy hour roll

Recommend coming for happy hour! We did a walk in around 530p and no wait. Parking is easy on weekends and evenings bc it's free in Amazon parking garage. Momiji is always good and never disappoints

If you're looking for good quality sushi I recommend trying Momiji SLU. We came during their happy hour (4-6pm) on a Friday evening and were immediately seated. The interior has two floors making it feel more spacious. Staff were friendly and our server was attentive and made sure to check up on us throughout our dinner. Their happy hour prices are reasonable, but I was really surprised on the variety of specialty rolls they have on their dinner menu. It was so hard to choose. From their happy hour menu we tried their Crispy Calamari and hot and cold sake. From their dinner menu we tried the Legend of Kaiju roll and from the seasonal menu, the Flaming Godzilla roll. The seafood was so fresh, delicate and paired perfectly with the sake. The calamari was cut thin, lightly battered and tender; it went well with the green curry aioli. If we have time, I'm definitely coming back and trying more of their specialty rolls.

This cute little place in SLU serves some great sushis. As soon as you are seated you will be served salted boiled edamame post which the servers will take your order. Our server was really professional and also helped us with recommendations. The ambience is pretty and can be a date night spot or a good happy hour with friends spot. We tried a bunch of off and drinks. Yakisoba noodles- they were made well with perfect karagee chicken but the noodles were a little too sweet for me like it had ketchup in it. Yakidon- really loved this one. Had a nice smoky flavour and was cooked to perfection Cucumber avocado rolls: very flavourful and comes with 6 pieces (great appetiser) For drinks we tried their lychee martini. (Super strong) , sakura blossom (very tasty and great alcoholic kick with rose flavour) and their sakes.

Disappointing experience here. Timing of the food arriving was not ideal and the food quality was mediocre. I ordered a lychee martini which had some ingredients I was unfamiliar with that left a weird burning aftertaste. I don't mind a spicy cocktail but this is definitely not what I expected. My mom ordered a tofu dish which came out before my sushi roll. She finished eating before I even got my food so we were there longer than we needed to be. The sushi roll I ordered was okay at best. The roll was sliced into very thing pieces which made it hard to pick up with chopsticks. On the bright side, servers were good about refilling water. The ambiance was nice and having free edamame to start the meal was nice as it's been many years since I went to a sushi restaurant that offered that.

We have been to the Cap Hil Momiji; this is the first time at the SLU location. The host was friendly and took us to a table - the only table that the sun is shining on in the entire empty restaurant. We have been outside in the sun for hours and wanted to be in the shade. With a polite request, he switched us to a (bigger) table away from the sun. Phew. Thank you for that. The interior is modern utilitarian - not much warmth or "Japanese" in here. The staff is super polite, taking our orders, delivering our food, and refilling the water. It happened to be happy hour when we arrived. We took advantage of the HH pricing and ordered a HH early dinner. The Food: HH Spider Roll, $10 - 3 Stars This was the first dish to arrive, which is baffling. It should not have been so fast. Upon closer examination, I see the soft-shell crab was pre-fried. They are room temp, not hot. They weren't stale, but they weren't fresh, either. Disappointing. The execution of the rest of the roll met expectations. HH Hamachi Kama, $13 - 4 Stars I looked at this piece of kama (fish collar) for a very long time. I actually thought I was looking at a fish tail until I figured out the anatomy. I am pretty sure it is a pelvic fin (lower forward fin). It is a good size kama portion, especially considering the $13 price. The grilling is pretty good, perhaps a touch dry but not overly so. The flavor is good, too. It even comes with a side salad that is excellent. HH Garlic Short Ribs, $11 - 3.5 Stars These are seasoned/flavored per expectations, but the cut is thinner than what I might get from a Korean restaurant. For the price, it is a reasonable snack size. HH Sushi Set B, $11 - 2.5 Stars These four pieces of sushi have a "refrigerated" fish type of dryness and texture. Look at the photo. You can see the lack of top moisture as though it has been exposed to the flow of cold air in a fridge. The cut and portion side are good, but I wouldn't order this again if that's how they store/serve their sushi. HH Tempura Platter, $9 - 4 Stars This is a deal for tempura mix plate. They are well executed tempura pieces, too. HH Agedashi Tofu, $8 - 4 Stars This is a higher price agedashi tofu (even as HH), but they did a good job sprucing up the norm. Each of the five pieces is topped differently with spring onions, bonito flakes, seaweed, daikon (traditional), and grated ginger. I opted to mix all the toppings into the generous broth and ate the tofu pieces with a spoonful of a broth. It is tasty! Overall, the kitchen dishes were better than the sushi dishes. I am rounding the rating up to a 4 Stars because of their reasonable HH pricing. If I paid full price, I would have rounded down to 3 Stars.

Always a hit! Great sushi and lovely ambiance. Better service than the Capitol Hill location. My go to sushi spot in Seattle.

happy hour. The waiter recommended the salmon skin, and I was down to try something new--it ended up being delicious. I also ordered the ginger chicken, which had a different flavor profile, but I wouldn't order it again. The service was okay, though our waiter spoke so softly it was hard to hear them at times. We ended up sitting outside since the place was packed inside. Overall, a solid start to the trip with a few hits and misses.

i already left a review for the cap hill location, but since i moved, the SLU location has been my all time go-to restaurant and it's still a lovely 5+ star fave!! it actually earned the "+" because i've discovered the "SLU Roll" and it's addictive. i don't eat out often, yet i've ordered this an absurd number of times. this time we got the uni too (a special, we ordered the 6 piece option instead of 3). it was a splurge for sure and more uni than i needed honestly but delish of course. momoji and my other fave (fob) are so good im genuinely sad because one day i will probably want kids and will probably be pregnant which means i will likely have to not eat sushi for 9 months - what a scary thought!

We came on a busy night but was seated right away at the bar. The drink was really bitter. Sushi is average if you're used to how they have it in California. The seafood udon is probably one of the best meal I've had in Seattle. Would definitely come back just for the udon

We visited Momiji on a Sunday night and got seated at the bar. They include a service charge for parties of six or more, which is good to know in advance. I thought this was the one with the garden but its not. I ordered the salmon donburi and the Seattle roll, and everything was great! I especially loved the pickled vegetables and the thick cuts of sashimi. Overall, a solid spot for sushi with quality ingredients.

I had to try sushi in Seattle at least once and I am so glad that this was the place we chose. We were seated outside in their patio section and the vibes were very nice. I ordered the Pine Street roll as they were out of the salmon skin for the Pike Street roll that evening and it was one of the best sushi rolls I've had in a long while. Every ingredient fit together perfectly well and it was such a good blend of flavors and textures. I thought it would be too much for me but I ended up eating every single piece. My friend ordered omakase and she enjoyed her dish selections very much. I got the Hello Kitty cocktail and it was delicious.

Hit this happy hour last minute and they were able to seat us. Always love momiji and might even like the slu momiji more than the cap hill, I don't think the cap hill one has a special menu like here. Overall I like the place a lot, it's very nice and bright and well decorated and all of the service was so nice. All the sushi was really good and the cocktail was as well. We got the crunchy Seattle, the slu roll, and the special Jupiter roll and they were all fantastic.

They have really good happy hour deals, and the sushi was pretty decent. However, the fried calamari was our favorite. Super light batter and so soft. For an appetizer and three rolls for under $50 was pretty good. They had nice outdoor seating and the service was great!

Mind you, this place is just a few blocks away from me but I was caught up in a work meeting and couldn't leave. 3) Tempura - Batter was tasteless and veggies were left to fry for too long (they were mushy). 4) Matcha tiramisu slice - Although a bit roughed up from delivery, was probably the best tasting item. TLDR: If you're ordering delivery, the fish is not fresh, the photos are misleading and the tempura is not good quaity and over fried. I would not recommend!

The way they worded this really rubbed me the wrong way. First, I've never been give a time limit at a restaurant that was not all-you-can-eat. Second, the amount of time I spend in your restaurant heavily depends on the speed of your service (spoiler alert: it was not fast). They then sat us at the most uncomfortable table I have ever had the displeasure of dining at. The table was low and the seats were so deep that I could not rest my back on them while eating. Definitely brought the mood down further. Food was a hit or a miss, no in between. Hit: Garlic short ribs (my partner said these were tender and a good portion for happy hour), Poke sushi roll (good fish quality and taste) Misses: First Ave Roll (sauce was just walloped on top, weak flavors), veggie and shrimp tempura (heavy and soggy batter), pink lychee cooler (artificially sweet with no strong lychee flavor), green tea tiramisu (photo speaks for itself). For all the rave reviews, I was pretty let down. Thankfully, we went during happy hour so we didn't pay full price. I would not visit here again.

We of course got the omakase, which was a total of 22 pieces including non-sushi bites. The appetizer trio consisted of sashimi, bamboo, and a radish puree - while we loved the sashimi, the other two were just ok. The next course was a toro handroll which we thought was a bit odd since that usually comes later towards the end in omakase. The fish was fresh, but the seaweed was a little thick and chewy. Onto the next plate - 5 pieces of nigiri with my favorites being the otoro and sea bream. Special shoutout to the albacore as well (I've never had albacore so soft!). After this one, the 6 piece nigiri were a hit or miss - while I LOVED the kanpachi (probably my favorite piece of the night), some of the seared ones didn't feel that fresh or flavorful. We then got the chawanmushi which I actually really loved, and I'm thankful they were able to substitute the shrimp with rockfish for my allergy. Finally, for the dessert course we got some miso soup, a fried anago nigiri, and for me oranges (instead of the egg due to my shrimp allergy). I did think it was odd to get miso soup last, but the anago was really good and the oranges were nice and fresh. Overall, there were definitely some standout pieces (kanpachi, toro, and chawanmushi) but the overall omakase experience felt a little disjointed. I'm glad to have finally tried this spot though - the location is beautiful and definitely still worth a visit for the legacy!
