Back again! Like I said I would LOL. This time, I tried the scallop citrus bowl, which was... interesting haha. It comes with kiwi and lime slices. I tried having a bite of scallop rice and kiwi altogether, and it wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't like a "oh yea I understand this combo". The kiwi was sweet, rice was nicely flavored. The scallops were a liiiittle disappointing because they weren't consistently fresh. Some were more fresh than others. Weirdly. Maybe I'll stick with the torched sushi lol

Was staying at a hotel nearby and decided to order delivery. The quality of the fish is so fresh and has a clean taste. I was impressed by the salmon lover box as it was fresh, good variety, rolls were made lovely and price was nice. I also got the crunch roll and I also loved it! The soft rice with the crunch of the shrimp tempura and tempura flakes along with the sauce was perfection. I asked for extra ginger and they came through. The thai tea was refreshing and helped cleanse the taste buds after a couple bites. Definitely will be visiting again. Would love to try their other menu items.

Craving sushi while in town and it was a quick walk from our hotel. Very unassuming little place but the food was delish! We just ordered to go since we were tired from our flight and they were quick and efficient too! Loved the flavors of how it melded together. So hungry, I didn't take pics except the first package from the bag but highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I have been here a couple times. The place is on the ground floor of an office building and very much so has cafeteria vibes, the servers are always nice, but the food overall is pretty meh. We're tried probably 5-6 different types of rolls here and they tend to be hit-or-miss. Some of them taste fresh and flavorful, will others taste odd and like they're a bare step above supermarket sushi. Overall not bad prices, but you definitely get what you pay for

Great sushi at such a good price! We ordered takeout from here, but there are plenty of tables inside for you to dine inside as well. Their menu is quite extensive with a bunch of different rolls and combos. I opted for the torch sushi box which came with 8 giant pieces of torched sushi, as well as 2 hand rolls and a side of seaweed salad and edamame. Altogether this was under $25 which was such a steal! The fish tasted fresh, and the rice was well seasoned too. I will definitely be back for more sushi!

My daughter and I wanted some sushi while visiting Seattle after riding on our lime scooters and came across sushi Ave. The staff was super friendly and helpful during are whole time there. The sushi was really good, ams fresh. This is a place I will definitely go back when in the seattle area.

Saw a new sushi place in the area and we finally got around to trying it. Went on a Saturday night and there were a few people, but we were able to be seated right away. It's a cute little small café type feel. We first had a salmon skin salad that was kind of like an appetizer and on the house, which was ridiculously tasty. I don't know how they get that salmon so crispy. The Hawaiian roll was very unique from other sushi rolls that I've had before, but I really enjoyed the flavor combination! I also had some simple cucumber maki and a Philly roll. They brought us to Japanese cream puffs because they wanted to apologize for the long wait for food, however, it wasn't a long wait at all! Even though there was only one person I think in the back making sushi, we both thought service was relatively quick. I of course, had to end the night with Taiyaki and I got it with strawberry ice cream--it came with popping strawberry boba too Prices were decent and they have a lunch special we'll definitely come back for too, in addition to dinner again!

Easy and cheap. Their menu is fun and their own. Everything about this place is what it is. You'll have to go in person to understand. From the off beat interior design to their choice of ingredients, even their portions and service. The I'm being generous with 4 stars, the food is 3 stars, but when you factor in the fact that their food is so darn affordable, I think people in the area will seriously appreciate having this spot in this location. All the other restaurants that have opened in this exact location have failed pretty bad, but in my opinion, this place just feels right. Gives me that, I'm on lunch break at my outskirts downtown water over looking job. Takes me back to those days. Let's get to the serious talk. Their interior is very boring, inconsistent, and probably left over from the last restaurant. I'm fine with that, seeing how they aren't presenting themselves as some fancy luxury sushi spot with high prices. To be honest I'd rather them focus on improving their offerings before investing time into looks. To be further honest, I hope find that sweet spot to get to a point where they do update the place. It will for sure attract more customers. Their menu selection was adequate. Nothing over the top, but for sure not boring. They have a many of the classics as well as their own signatures. One of their signatures is their torch sushi which wasn't anything like I imagined it would be based on the name. It's actually pretty cool and unique and not just regularly old seared nigiri. I ended up ordering a baked roll with pineapples and melted cheese on top. Very unique for Seattle, but I've had fun rolls like this in other states. I will add, there are a few other sushi spots in the area that also offer some sort of niche sushi so I can't say they have gone above and beyond. Their service is above average, but not over the top. Our server greeted us with kindness and check on us regularly. Their kitchen is not walled off so you can see the employees hard at work. Zero wondering, what's taking so long. They brought out each dish as it was completed. They even did something kind and fairly genius. They used the left over salmon from our order to prepare us a salmon skin salad as an appetizer for free. Even though they warned us the specific items we ordered would take a bit longer to took, they still took care of us. Huge bonus in my opinion. I could feel their concern for our well being and happiness. For the price point I was impressed in a few areas, yet still let down in areas that I feel like could have easily boost their food rating. For one, their wasabi was real and fresh. Most cheap spot have unacceptable wasabi that creeps me out, but they are not one of em. The fish they used was fresh and tender in a way I could eat all day. Their presentation was very beautiful and their sauces had great flavor. One thing that I personally think they could do to help would be to use more rice for their nigiri, like double or triple since rice is cheap. I also wished the seared salmon had sauce on it. There were other things my heart desired for 5 star sushi but at this price point they exceeded or met my expectations.

The restaurant is smaller, with tables for mostly two or four people. They have an outside area, though the tables were not set up when we went. Very good to know for future reference. Karaage is in the name and is their signature dish. They make it the right way using chicken thigh. Prices are reasonable for the Seattle area. The salad wasn't overdressed and tasted refreshing with a light dressing. I would order this again. Karaage Chicken, small, $6.95 - 5 Stars Glad they offer the chicken as a side. The small is a good compliment to salad. Instead of four pieces, we had five. Hubby was happy to have more protein to go with the rice. They are more of a 4.5 stars rating. There is a caveat though, which is that they only have select items in the AYCE menu. The ambiance of the place was inviting enough for us to give them a try! There is a 90 minute window for AYCE, and you can order a maximum of 3 items per person every 15 minutes. All orders have to be made from an app on your phone so make sure you have a fully charged device! When we logged in the app, it was confusing to manage at first so we worked with the server to put our orders in. She had to put in our orders for us a couple of times and then we figured out how to work the system after that. To do the math for those reading the review and maximize the number of items you can order with the 90 minute window, you can potentially order up to 18 sets of skewers per person. Each set of skewer has two sticks. My hubby and I missed a few items from our order but we were getting full after my 10th skewer and his 15th skewer so it did not matter too much! The AYCE menu also has options to order zaru soba, corn cheese, and takoyaki! Presentation is great but I wish the flavor matched the visuals. The standout skewers for us were the boruta pork and the wagyu beef tongue. I was really hoping that the yakitori would be crispier and had more of a smokey flavor but I really can't complain too much for the price point. The food is solid but not like a wow, I have to come back here again! We only saw one server for the busiest part of the night, serving 8 tables all at once. Those with allergies, beware of the management here…read more Since I'm allergic to crab I specifically asked our waitress if imitation or real crab was used in the rolls as it wasn't clear on the menu and she confirmed that it was imitation - awesome, we ordered three rolls. However, after I took my first bite I noticed the taste was unusually fishy and the texture was off. I checked the other rolls and the "crab salad" looked stringy like real crab so I spit it out and had my partner ask the chef if it was imitation or real. The chef said it was real so we flagged down our waitress to tell her we couldn't eat this even though I had literally asked her to confirm for me. She brings out the manager and there's no apology, he just says "the owners switched to real crab about 3 weeks ago for better quality" and that they can take it back and off the bill, but hello? You don't inform your staff about that change? Your waitress confirmed to me that it was not crab. They were lucky I spit out my food as soon as I realized and had allergy medicine on me. They rushed me to pick something else after I asked if I could order something without crab since the kitchen was closing and they didn't have imitation crab to use (which could all have been avoided had they given me the correct information to begin with). What we ended up with was alright, though the manager rushed me to order a roll with bell pepper in it (tf?). The cherry on top is that when our waitress came with our bill, they gave us three tip options - based on the original total LMAO!! Our new bill was around $50 (since we ordered less) vs the other $100+ bill and somehow an 18% tip was nearly half of our bill. We aren't ones to not tip and it's not like this was the kitchen's fault - just management - so we left a 15% tip for our new bill.

The green sauce which they later told me was made of Brussels sprouts was one of the best complimenting sauces I've ever had w this fish and it wasn't too strong with the right balance. Ambience: the restaurant was beautiful, clean, and reminded me of Japan. It was a perfect setting for celebrating our anniversary and they made it feel very special. Highly recommend this restaurant

We've been to this places lately. This is the second in the week around the same neighborhood. So…read moreeven I didn't want to compare them, I did :( BUT I still have yo say they are different. They ambience of Shomon is brighter, open, and uplifting. I was surprised of how many people were involved. There were 2 servers who were VERY patient, friendly, and attentive to every single thing we needed. This establishment is small and you have to make reservations. You can find easily their door. We all sat down at the bar which makes it easier to see how food is prepared and listen to the chefs about their creations :) This gives you the opportunity to experience the whole thing and ask questions to the Team about food, species, differences, sources, etc. I am worried about uncooked food, but this really was worth it. They open with a soup which was rich and so good for a rainy day -which it was-. Then the round of makis started. It started with the "basic". But for me they were amazing since the beginning. Of course the further it went, the more noticeable the delicacy and tenderness of the meat became. There was another soup at some point. I lost count of how many pieces we had. I was focused on the ingredients when they mentioned them. Pure art. I remember the second plate was a beautiful collage of many bites. Loved all of them! The mix of all these flavors is unique. I believe they cook everything previously (marinades and rice) and put everything together in that moment. At the end we had dessert. And thay tiny dessert felt so good. I didn't feel hungry even with just one bite of each. There's a parking lot on the next corner. So no need to drive around. I really recommend the experience.
