    Obsessed with the concept of a build your own sushi box and the quality of the rolls were exceptional given the low price. Not much seating in there but FOB is right by the pier and we sat on a the benches near the water. Perfect day & perfect lunch!! Wish we had this in LA. The workers there are also extremely diligent when it comes to restocking the rolls that were out. Also plenty of sauce and sides available to choose from.

    This is my FAVORITE place. I always take people here and crave it but I love the concept of getting as much or as little sushi as you want and getting one piece of many different things. My favorite selection is actually the nigiri near the end of the line (especially the buttery seared salmon). One time, we were lucky enough to come when they had blue fin tuna nigiri that was very good. They always have a small line that moves very quickly and they replenish everything fresh and have such good foot-traffic that I'm never concerned. On the side, they have serve yourself spicy mayo, wasabi, ginger, soy sauce, etc. which makes it very convenient for both dine in and take out. Fast casual and really high quality for what it is. Such a gem.

    I'm extremely late to the FOB Sushi train, but it really is so solid. Fish is pretty fresh and the price for sushi is just unbeatable. My partner and I can stuff our faces with a large box here for just over 30 dollars. They are prone to have a line at dinner time and even off hours on the weekend though. Plus, there is no parking in the area so your best bet is to park by the H Mart or by Bellevue Square before walking over. Seating isn't the most plentiful and it's first come first serve where you bus your own items. Haven't been lucky enough to swing by while their miso soup machine was working, but they do offer complementary sauces (spicy mayo, unagi sauce, soy sauce, ginger, wasabi, and plastic gloves for those who prefer eating with their hands. Tip: all the rolls are placed at the front of the selection so make sure you save enough room for the salmon belly nigiri at the very end. Honestly, even though I know the rolls are a bit of a trap, their rolls are pretty tasty still and you really can't go wrong. Really strong 4 stars.

    Great sushi for an even better price!! My whole tray was $15. The quality is great for the amount you pay, and there is a lot of rolls and nigiri to choose from. There's some seating areas inside and a table outside for when there's better weather. :)

    FOB is da BOMB....woooW......Hype is real, worth the wait. Sushi selection was very eye pleasing and pallet satisfying....Quality was on point. Decent selection of rolls and Inari sushi. Nigiri tasted fresh. Was so good, had to revisit and stock up for our incredibly extensive journey home to the Golden State. -Tamago sushi was even better on the train. -Conclusion: Seattle is lucky to have a sushi spot with this kind of operational procedure. Will definitely be back nee t tome in town.

    This is my favorite affordable sushi place in Seattle! When you go in, you are given tongs, a box, and a large array of options to choose from. For a price point, the normal sized box should amount to $15 if fully filled to the brim. My tip to get your moneys worth is to go for sushi and sashimi where the emphasis is on the fish, not the rice! If you are trying to keep costs low, avoid the tofu skin rice pockets. The rice wrapped in tofu skin weighs a lot and will add up quickly! There is also free toppings for the sushi such as soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger available inside the store. Sometimes the line goes out the door but it always moves very quickly!

    This was a really fun place to visit with a really cool concept of building your own sushi box! The pricing is actually very fair, especially if you go for the nigiri. The boxes and bags and presentation is really nice as well. There was a wide variety of roll and sushi options. But our only gripe is the quality / flavor of the fish was so-so. There were definitely some misses on some of the pieces we ate.

    I love this concept! Being able to pick which sushi I wanted to try was great. Everything was fresh too and actually really tasty, even the ones I wouldn't normally get. Good service too, they're popular but handle the crowd well. They also kept the presentation nice and clean. It's $15 per pound of sushi for the rolls and nigiri, that's a great deal for the options and fresh selection they offer.

    What a cool concept. I always wanted to go to sushi bar where I could pick different rolls to try rather than risking buying 4-6 rolls of same type and not liking it. Rolls were definitely fresh, affordable and variety was great. Me and my daughter loved it. Will be back when in Seattle again. Service was friendly.

    Love this concept Was here for a few days fo a training and this was in the building You self serve roll and nigiri (further down the assembly line) and you are charged by weight Unfortunately no sashimi options and the fish to rice ratio isn't the best but decent quality and for the price, it's great! My favorites were the salmon, fatty tuna and scallop Yellowtail and surf clam (love both usually) were a bit underwhelming Update: it was so good I went twice! Go at noon because I went at 12:20 and the line was insanely long (luckily it moved pretty quickly)

    Line moves by quickly. I thought this place had an interesting concept. Sushi by the pound seems like a decent deal! I will say they load each roll/sushi piece up with plenty of topping so the weight adds up quickly. Most of the rolls were delicious but I thought the nigiri was not that good. The fish didn't feel fresh. I highly recommend the lobster roll with the tempura shrimp in it Other drawbacks, because everyone is moving in a line, you have to be quite decisive with your sushi pieces. I didn't like that I had a few seconds to scan through what each sushi piece was. It felt a little pressuring in the way the lined up the queue. Also, limited seating indoors and outdoors. I enjoyed the concept and the Maki rolls. I'd come back next time I'm in town.

    How accessible is this place? I have a group of 6 w/ 1 person using a wheelchair or at least a walker and stairs are tough. Looks like seating is limited (2 top tables). Feasible to request making a 6 top table or is there somewhere nearby to go?

    I would not recommend this spot for your group. There's steps to navigate and I'm sure there's a ramp. Parking can be challenging and seating is counter space only. Have you been to Ti22 which is further north on 4th Ave.?

    Are there any vegetarian options like avocado rolls, veggie rolls, etc?

    It's random.They make their own kind of rolls. It wasn't noticeable if they had vegetarian options.

    Can anyone tell me if they offer rolls such as asparagus rolls, cucumber rolls, or avocado rolls?

    They do not. The rolls here are more like their specialty rolls and nigiri.

    No, they do not.

There were only about 4-5 pieces of nigiri that tasted fresh and clean; the white fish that you start with in particular were just not a fun texture or flavor. The shellfish course and sweet shrimp were solid though. Unfortunately, besides the fish, the rice was a total flop too. It just felt dried out as if they had been pre portioned well ahead of time and under seasoned. Part of the joy of a course menu, if you want slightly warm / room temperature rice against the cool fish, but you get zero of that contrast here.

It felt like he was telling a story through every piece of sushi he prepared, making the experience both captivating and unforgettable. Chef Shiro Kashiba is truly inspiring. It was also wonderful to see that everyone seated at our counter had traveled from out of state just to experience his omakase, which speaks volumes about his reputation. Our food tour was very intimate, just the two of us plus the guide. One of the restaurants we visited was called Shiro. We arrived mid-afternoon, while the restaurant was closed to the public. We were each served two pieces of Nigiri and told the story about Shiro. The two pieces that we were served were phenomenal and the story fascinating. We found out when Chef Shiro would be working next and cancelled another dinner reservation so we could try more of his food. When we arrived before opening time, there was already a woman waiting at the door. After us, a Seattle software engineer and three of his Canadian co-workers arrived. We had all arrived early because sitting at the bar in front of Shiro was on a first come, first served basis, reservations were not taken for that privilege. The year after we dined, we read that Shiro had retired. We were so disappointed that we would not get to eat his food again. Then we learned that Shiro opened a new restaurant and we planned on making a trip up to Seattle. Twelve years later, we finally made it. Reservations were made through opentable.com two months in advance. We wanted the Omakase, sitting at the bar, in front of the Master. Well, when we arrived, we found that Shiro only works on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. (sigh) Still, we had a great meal prepared by an amazing chef who hailed from Laos, whose name escapes me now. We had a pretty good conversation despite the background noise from the rest of the restaurant. The presentation was beautiful as you can see from my pictures. We asked for and received a menu list that detailed what we were being served. If you take the time to look at the photo captions, you can follow along with the menu list to see what each fish looked like. And then, on our way out, there was Shiro! We greeted him, thanked him and his Sushi Chef for a great meal. We asked for a photo and he had a staff member take the picture for us. Yes, Shiro is a slight man but not quite as small as the picture makes him look. The staffer changed my camera setting from 1x to .5x and because he was standing one step behind us, we look huge!
