After a long day of walking the city we wanted some yum sushi and looked at quite a few places before settling on one. We made a reservation via Open Table and arrived on time and were seated quickly. Even though the restaurant wasn't full they sat us next to another couple so it was a little awkward to be so close to a couple on a date. The restaurant itself is pretty dark, atmosphere is okay, servers take their time here. The menu is quite large and we enjoyed picking out three rolls that sounded different from what we were used to. Presentation-wise , the sushi looked great! Stopped in while visiting Seattle located across Pike's Market is this delicious Japanese sushi restaurant. Recommend making reservations on Open table as its pretty crowded. Great selection of sushi rolls and their omakase looked delicious although ill probably try that next time. Service was friendly and efficient and it was so thoughtful they gave me a complimentary dessert for my bday. The chicken karaage was not good, the oil it was cooked in tasted dirty and fishy like fish and chips. Didn't even taste like it was primarily potato starch. Food definitely did not live up to the hype I've seen online, and the service was even worse. We showed up about an hour before close, just in time for late night happy hour, or so we thought? Long story incoming. It was 4 of us, host automatically sounded annoyed we were there, and sat us in the dining area. We got a waiter, she was waiting on a bigger table that was each paying separately though so it took a bit before she got to take our orders. I knew about the happy hour from looking online, but there wasn't a happy hour menu anywhere, nothing provided, and nothing was mentioned either. Being a tourist in the area I didn't really feel comfortable asking about it, plus it was late and the service was already feeling rushed and lackluster, I figured maybe it's just offered in the bar or something. Mind you, bar seating wasn't offered in general. We get our food, mine and my friend's dishes were honestly not good, we left like over half the plate each, because it wasn't good. These are $23 plates each, keep in mind, for these yakisoba dishes we got. I got chicken, chicken was cooked bad, flavorless, tons and tons of onion in my friend's vegetable yakisoba, it was like it was end of the night shift and they just threw vegetables in there, but they didn't actually add flavor to the dish. The ginger was extremely strong and overpowering in both our dishes. Noodles were more of a ramen style than a thicker style, I've had both but prefer the thicker one. The yakitori was pretty good, no complaints. Sushi was good, though I'm still confused days later, both sushi rolls were the same price, but my friend's seattle crunch roll came with way more sushi than my other friends' roll, from the same menu area too. All of these 5 dishes come out to around 100, mind you. The next day we were thinking about the poor service and I called to ask about the happy hour pricing and apparently you had to ask for the happy hour menu from the getgo, lol. Never heard of that since usually it's part of the waiter's job, to entice you to buy more, rack up the bill more and thus they get a bigger tip. Not here I guess, that's not the motto here. Here the motto is, you might end up ordering from the happy hour menu, and even if you do you won't be receiving the pricing for it, if you didn't ask for the menu, that isn't automatic. My boyfriend did end up calling for the manager and she adjusted the pricing but basically said the waiters aren't encouraged to bring up the happy hour menu, and it's automatically applied in the bar area, but not the dining area. So I can't imagine the amount of people buying from the happy hour menu without realizing, and paying full price like we did. 3 of the 5 dishes we got were on happy hour. Overall would NOT return, seems scammy, misleading and the service was bad anyway. read more

This has got to be hands down some of the best sushi and chicken. There isn't really any parking near the restaurants as it is on a busy downtown corner, but very walkable if you are staying in the area. The order was ready right on time and the staff were very friendly. Inside was lots of seating and it was well decorated and clean. Bathrooms were well appointed as well. Highly recommend. The Mexican Ninja was tastier thanks to the sauce, and the mix of fish and shrimp added some variety. For apps, the hamachi usu was fresh and had a good portion, but the sauce was a bit too tangy for my taste. The chicken karaage tasted more like thin chicken tenders and was quite oily. I had heard that Japanese's had a really good happy hour deal so I stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday. There were not many people in the restaurant so my group was seated immediately. We were handed menus and had our waters filled up quickly. I'm glad that the table next to us was empty because it was quite close to us and it would have been quite difficult to get in and out if someone was there. We ordered the super bad boy roll, Mexican ninja, and two other rolls recommended by our waiter. They were all very good and different but my favorite by far was the Super bad boy. Best seats in the house if you are wanting drinks is obviously the bar. It was overcooked and mushy and lacked any flavor besides garlic. We had to ask for salt which helped the flavor but not the texture. I ordered the chirashi bowl. Again it came up looking amazing, very pretty and elegant presentation. Again it was a disappointment. 80% of the fish was mushy and flavorless, as if it was soaked in water. The octopus was good as well as one of the fish but since it was chef's choice, I didn't know what kind of fish it was as I was not told when the food came out. The sauce on the rice was good though. Service was the first red flag. We waited 15 minutes just to be seated, and right after us, another couple was seated nearby. Somehow they ordered before us and got their food first. No explanation, no apology -- just ignored. The atmosphere is dark, more like a bar than a sushi restaurant. Not cozy, just dim. I ordered the Seattle roll and was genuinely let down. Barely any fish -- just a small amount of salmon tucked inside with nothing on top. For the price, I expected a proper sushi roll, not something that felt half-finished. My wife ordered the garlic short ribs, which sounded great on the menu but turned out to be mostly fat with very little actual meat. Smothered in a creamy barbecue-style sauce that overpowered everything. If you're into fatty cuts, maybe it works for you -- but we were expecting real ribs with real meat. The espresso cocktail was another miss. Way too rum-heavy, completely unbalanced. We took two sips and left it. Fourteen dollars wasted. And then the restrooms -- honestly, dirty. Papers all over the floor, clearly not being maintained. That alone says a lot about how much attention this place pays to its customers. Overall a frustrating experience from start to finish.
