    Hibachi lunch steak
    Elizabeth M.

They are not open for dine in but our team at work loves their lunch take outs. I got a steak hibachi lunch bento and it was delicious. I had left overs given the large portion but it was also saltier than what I preferred.

Hands down I think Momiji has it when it comes to a delicious lunch in the Chinatown/City Center area for anyone who works in the area. Since the first time I had food from this restaurant, I have been obsessed! Just about everything I've had has been delicious. Their lunch specials are by far my favorite because for $15 you get a great portion size so that you can eat some now and some for later. Items I've tried that I would highly recommend, - Chicken Hibachi - Steak Hibachi - Shrimp Hibachi .... can you tell I love their hibachi lol. The steak is my fave. - 2 sushi roll lunch special (spicy tuna and shrimp tempura are solid options) - Valentine roll Unfortunately, the restaurant only take to go orders at this time. If you call they will have your order ready in 10-15 minutes typically. The process of picking up is easy and you pay right at the door. I would recommend taking the train or walking to Momiji, especially if you work in this area because parking can be kind of annoying in this area especially if there's a game at Capital One arena. I also noticed another Yelper mentioned that they are on Uber Eats which is amazing. Check it out, I'm sure Momiji will blow you away as well.

Food: 5* Price: 5* Service: 5* Ordered via Uber Eats during a business trip. The food was fresh, well proportioned, and tasty. The chefs choice was a great size for the price. Ample, tasty and delicious. The spicy salmon sushi was also very tasty, a little spicy, but just enough. Really good taste. I would reorder.

I was looking for a place to eat near my hotel and came across this place. I wish I had read reviews, since this place only offers takeout now, but that didn't stop me after walking in the cold! The nice lady that was distributing orders allowed me to order in person, since I saw a sign that had a number to call for orders, or just order via a delivery app. I ordered the Special Roll Dinner and Vegetable Tempura and miso soups for both entrees. Special Roll Dinner It consisted of the specialty Dragon, Rainbow, & Dynamite rolls. They were quite good, tasted fresh and needed little to no soy sauce. I especially liked the roll in the middle row (I think it's the Dragon roll) Veggie Tempura I couldn't tell you the exact veggies, but it was broccoli, eggplant, zucchini, sweet potato, taro (?), and some half moon shaped veggie. With the exception of the zucchini and eggplant (they were mushy), they were good! Nice and light, not too oily. Miso soup (came with entrees) I was looking forward to the miso soup since it's cold and wanted something hot. It was pretty bland, I didn't taste much. I enjoyed the food that I ordered, I'd definitely swing by again, especially if they were to open for dine in!

This is my absolute favorite take-out sushi spot in the city. The fish is always very fresh and the servings are consistently generous. I haven't tried anything here I don't like! The lunch specials are also wonderful.

    Happy Santa Roll

I had to order on line because the dining room is currently closed. A little inconvenient but we live in a different time. I ordered three rolls. A Dragon, Santa and Sweetie rolls. Every roll was deliciously prepared. Generous with the ingredients and carefully crafted. I personally like the layers of texture and flavor. 3 rolls were prepared in about 10 minutes. Truly a treat.

This review is based on an order via UberEats. We ordered 3 different rolls (Spider roll, Alaskan roll, and Christmas roll), based on Yelp reviews. All 3 rolls were delicious and the seafood smelled/looked/tasted fresh. My favorite of these choices was the Spider roll. Everything was packed well, I had all of the utensils & sides that I needed, and the delivery was quick. I will definitely order from here again. Next time, I hope to try the Valentine roll since the reviews are great.

    Philadelphia and Spicy Tuna Rolls
    Katie W.

Ordered from Momiji for the first time via Uber eats. The Valentine roll is absolutely delicious and very filling! The order came with yummy spicy Mayo, ginger and wasabi. The spicy tuna and Philadelphia rolls were fine, but probably wouldn't reorder them compared to the speciality roll. Great option for takeout sushi!

Free miso soup with lunch special

Great value for a quick lunch. Any 3 rolls for $18. I ordered 3 dynamite rolls that are normally $10 each. I called ahead and it was ready within 15 minutes. It's currently take out only (Oct 2023). I'd go back again t k try some of their other rolls too.

So glad Momiji survived the pandemic! They've been delivery only for some time, but still the best, freshest, and most generous sashimi in DC. Just look at this beautiful sashimi platter!

The layout is interesting -- there's an upstairs when you walk in, but the sushi bar and a good bit of seating are downstairs. The menu is pretty straightforward with a mix of hand rolls, appetizers, specialty rolls, nigiri/sashimi, and traditional rolls. They also have a few solid combo deals, though I usually prefer trying a variety of items instead. Service was quick, which is always appreciated at a sushi spot. We ordered a few specialty rolls, two traditional rolls, and a couple orders of sashimi, all served together on one platter. The rolls were a great size -- filling without being overly large. The sashimi was fresh, and the traditional rolls really balanced out the meal nicely. The flounder and tuna sashimi were both excellent, and the California roll made with real crab was simple, fresh, and really satisfying. The total came out somewhere in the $70 range, so after tip and splitting it between two people, it was about $40 each to try multiple rolls and sashimi. Definitely fair pricing for the quality and amount of food. This spot had been on my list for a while, so I'm glad I finally made it over. I'd recommend checking out the menu beforehand so you can go in with a game plan and try the items that stand out most to you.

I think, after being twice, that the AYCE is not as worth it for me personally because I'm not a big eater, but it's totally worth it if you want a lot of variety and you have a good appetite. I really liked the rolls in particular. The service was excellent- it was a nice balance of coming over once in a while to ask how we were doing without coming over too much. The vibes are awesome with a really nice interior- definitely a nice place to go for a date,!just to go with friends to have a nice meal, or even to grab a meal alone since the center has a large area for single seating. Fyi- for the AYCE menu, note that once you put in an order for a round, you can't order for another 10 min so be sure to order enough at a time. Also, there is a time limit to the AYCE (I think it was 90 min). This'll definitely be a place I go to regularly in the future!

My Hotote crudo app which should be served cold was served cold on a super hot plate which means by the time I ate it, it was thus weird hot/semi-luke warm temp and honestly, not appetizing. I tried the Moriawase after and told my server I wanted to add caviar if it was possible and since I didn't get any, I assume it is only an option for the nigiri/sashimi. Silly but no problem. I was still sooooo hungry I ordered a Surf&turf roll and it was less than appetizing. It had no flavor which was terribly unfortunate. While tables are close, the vibes are great and service was phenomenal. They have a really extensive and good happy hour (bar only) that we definitely are going to try to hit next time. To start things off we got a bottle of Sake, the garlic edamame dumplings, and the seasonal scallop spring rolls. The dumplings were truly phenomenal, and the waiter even offered to bring out an extra to make it an even 6, which I thought was a nice touch. The scallop spring rolls were quite filling but full of scallop so you got your moneys worth. For our mains we tried the carbonara udon and two sushi rolls - spicy tuna and the eternity roll. DO not pass up the sushi- the spicy tuna was so fresh and not overly mayo based and the eternity roll was amazing, it felt so fresh and light with a great kick of flavor. The carbonara udon was visually stunning and quite tasty, also really filling so we took most of it home. It almost reminded me more of a bacon mac and cheese then a carbonara but I didn't mind that. For dessert we got the japanese souffle cheesecake and the little pastry with the red been and coffee gelato - both were light and airy and were a perfect end to a fantastic meal. Service was always quick - from drink refills, boxes, busing tables, etc - I can't complain about anything. Prices were very fair as well.

One other change I noticed was that they no longer cranked up the music like they used to. That was a bummer. The menu also changed...but we still found plenty of items that were tantalizing. We shared a few plates...from Miso Soup and Edamame Dumplings, to Garlic Fried Rice with Shrimp and a Sushi Roll (can't remember the name?). Also, this decadent Souffle Cheesecake dessert.
