I have not been here in 20 years and it is still open so thought I would go back. The inside has not changed at all but it is decorated nice. This place is like a landmark here in Fredericksburg. The staff is friendly. I ordered a 14 steak and cheese sub with fries and my daughter ordered a veggie sub. My son ordered the grape leaves. The food is alright but not better than other places. I was hoping it would be better but it wasn't.

I stopped in here for lunch on a weekday after reading about them on social media and seeing so many positive reviews. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the amazing smell of pizza being baked and it really tempted me to switch my lunch plans from a healthy Greek salad to pizza, but I stuck with my initial desire to order salad. I sat down and was greeted by an older gentleman (owner?) who was very helpful and knowledgeable about their menu and the ingredients (example: I saw "black olives" on the menu as coming with the salad I wanted, but didn't want those little California black olives that are typically put on pizza, so I asked and he explained these come from Spain and are a lot bigger, which they were). He even brought me a sample of olives to try and they were really good. I also wanted some tzatziki, as this is something I prefer to try at every Mediterranean restaurant. The tzatziki was amazing! Yogurt was thick and it was loaded with tasty garlic, perfect amount of seasonings and fresh cucumbers. The salad I chose was their Greek salad and I asked for grille chicken to go on top, so he grilled up some souvlaki and put it on top. The chicken was very tasty, fresh and grilled perfectly. It was all breast meat and it tasted great and there were a lot of pieces for my salad. The salad itself was pretty good. I prefer the thicker (more emulsified) Greek dressing, but this had had a lot of flavor, as it had plenty of herbs in it. The only thing is they use raw rings of white onion cut in half, which are rather pungent, but I cut them up smaller to have a small amount in each bite. The lettuce and all the veggies in the salad were very fresh. The place was really clean and felt like a homely, family restaurant... especially with the family mural on the wall. The restroom was tiny, but again, very clean. Service was great. I asked the owners how long they've been here, they said 40 year! How awesome! I'll definitely return and I'll be ordering pizza on my next trip!

While visiting Fredericksburg, VA we stumbled upon this unsuspecting gem. Don't let the modest building deter you, the owners have been serving up Greek food for more than 30 years! The interior is a little dated but I found it quaint, cozy and welcoming. On this particular evening the owners were there and served us . What a treat! Sophia was classy, sassy and made you feel like family. She entertained us with stories of growing up in Greece while her husband prepared our meals. She was very attentive and fast with refills. The bathroom was in the back and it seemed like you were going the wrong way or in their private area. It reminded me of a lot of local family restaurants in South America and Europe and I didn't mind. I ordered the gyro platter which came with tzatziki sauce , a Greek salad and fries. Everything was delicious and the homemade tzatziki sauce was the best I have ever had! I found the price reasonable and the portion sizes good. I told Sophia I would be visiting Athens and the islands in Greece in the fall and she proceeded to ask me about my trip , tell me I paid too much and make me promise her I would call her the next time so she can best advise me on the best deals . I loved the family atmosphere and hospitality. We had a great dining experience here. Momma Sophia and her husband are the best!

Parthenon was delicious! Sometimes Greek food can be hit or miss and this restaurant was definitely a hit. It seemed like the two people running the restaurant were an old married couple. They were super sweet and were extremely attentive to what we needed including extra plates or silverware. We got the spanakopita for an appetizer and split mousaka (eggplant and potatoes with ground beef in a bed of sauce). We also got the baklava which was one of the best bakalava's I've ever had. Highly recommend!

After seeing so many positive reviews, we decided to give this place a try. As soon as you walk in you have an immediate feeling you stepped into the set of "Big Fat Greek Wedding"! Family run business and soon you are made to feel like one of them. Sophia talked to us for quite awhile about how she came to open the restaurant 40 years ago! So we both decided to order the gyro platter. We took some baklava to go! Let's just say we will be back! Oh, will probably order the pizza too cause that looked and smelled wonderful!

I have been coming here since I was a child, and I still love this place. When I was a kid I used to call it "The Cozy Place" and that's still what I call it! I love the family that runs it, the service is great and welcoming, and the food is delicious! Don't miss trying this place at least once!

Went there quite awhile ago, and it seemed like everything was out of the jar, not homemade. Very disappointing. Never went back.

Try the Sophia's sampler platter. She'll make it and bring it to you! The spanakopita are great, too.

The menu has a lot of options, so I guided my choice by photos in reviews. I ended up going with the kofta lamb, which was served with rice, a side salad, and grilled onions and peppers. Overall, it was delicious. I loved that everything tasted fresh and homemade. The prices were a tad bit elevated (entrees average $25-30), especially for Fredericksburg, but I'm glad I tried it. Overall, the ambiance was welcoming and authentic.

Faris took time to tell us about the menu and recommended an amazing grill combo! We had grilled lamb chops, chicken, koftah, rice, side salad, fresh pita, and salsas. Two of us couldn't finish it all! The flavors were amazing! I really enjoyed the lentil soup we had with our hummus starter. The soup came out the perfect temperature. Not too hot not too cold legit just right! I had the shai which was delicious! Black tea with spices. And Faris was kind enough to give us each a sample of the shai adani , black tea with condensed milk and spices. I'll for sure order a cup next time. Think chai latte flavor! The restaurant itself is very nice inside and there's an outdoor patio as well! We will for sure be back!

I'm…read morenot sure if it's under new management, new staff, or a different cook, but things are not the same. The once generous portions have shrunk down to something similar to Chipotle-sized servings. The staff, who used to be delightful, now seem less friendly, and the food just doesn't have the same flavor. Last week, I called to place an order, and they were out of rice. A few days later, I tried again, and when I picked up my food, I noticed the portion size had significantly decreased. Today, I tried to place an order at 7:30 pm for pickup at 8:30 pm, well within their posted store hours of 9:00 pm. The gentleman on the phone informed me that they couldn't prepare my order because they close at 8:20 pm. When I mentioned that their posted closing time was 9:00 pm, he explained that although they close at 9:00 pm, the kitchen shuts down by 8:30 pm, and I needed to pick up my food before then. I had already requested my order at 7:30 pm, well within their timeline, so this was frustrating. Unfortunately, I'll be taking my business back to Kabob Corner in Fredericksburg or Stafford.

They have their lunch buffet on weekdays, which is great, as most places only seem to do this on weekends. First impression when walking in was it was a converted Ruby Tuesday, but WOW, they did an EXCELLENT job from replacing the entire ceiling, flooring, tables/booths and even the window shades, to fully updating the restroom too, they clearly dumped a lot of money and effort into this place and it shows! The buffet looks beautiful, not grimey and messy, rather all food items are in clamshell heated servers, which kept the food fresh and piping hot. The offering was excellent, with a plain rice and a more elaborate rice, called Palau. The Qaubili Palau was incredible! Loaded with fresh ingredients and made with an outstanding quality basmati! The lamb that was in it was super tender and not gamey at all, rather perfectly seasoned and sooo very tasty! They also offered a more plain rice, which was slightly seasoned and also very good! Another fav of mine were their meatballs... they tasted like a mild lamb and were just as tender as that too (not sure if they're lamb tho). Flavor of the curry they were in was excellent! Their chick peas and subzi (spinach) were excellent alternatives for those not wanting meat... I definitely enjoyed a few servings of these!! Chicken kabob was beautiful in color and nicely flavored with a tenderness that was spot-on. Service was friendly and they even sincerely cared how the food was, by asking. I'd definitely suggest stopping in to try it for yourself and I look forward to returning, soon!

A really nice family atmosphere, as it clearly was a family-run restaurant, with kids bussing tables. Very old school. The server, who was probably an owner, was very friendly, and the food came out quickly. We really felt comfortable there. There were fabulous desserts on display in a refrigerated case when you walk in. Don't let outward appearances throw you. I can think of at least four things that will might scare you away when you drive by, which lead me to say "Don't judge a book by its cover" on this fabulous diner. 1. It is in a run-down commercial area. US Route 17 in the immediate area of the south side of Interstate 95 has definitely seen better days. It really is bad. But you can't blame the restaurant owner for the demise of the surrounding area. 2. The specific location of the restaurant is a bit off putting. There's a couple of junked trucks in the back of the parking lot, which is more representative of the general area than it is of the restaurant. The parking lot could definitely use an upgrade. 3. The way the parking lot is laid out can make you think that they don't have any customers, which may scare you away. The reality is that customer parking is on the sides of the building, not in the front. There are no actually parking spaces in the front, as it's all a fire lane. So, what looks like an empty parking out in the front is actually an oversized fire lane. It's very deceiving. 4. The old school interior was developed organically. It is a totally mish-mash of furniture that was probably purchased at estate sales and bankruptcy sales. In a world of chain restaurants where everything is pre-fabricated and standardized, the interior at Paradise Diner seems almost Willy Wonka-ish. However, everything is clean...it just "doesn't match" like most modern-day restaurants. Breakfast is served all day. Note they are open seven days a week, but they are only open until 4:00pm on Sundays. We will definitely be going back.
