The Mango Earl Grey Tea was also super flavorful, refreshing, not too sweet, and overall was amazing to experience for the first time. I ordered the peach matcha for my visit. I really liked the drink I got because the matcha flavor is very prominent and then there's a light hint of peach, which works well because the flavors aren't fighting each other for attention. The peach flavor gets stronger if you sip the foam rather than mix with a straw and then sip. I like the variety of matcha drinks they have so I do need to go slowly through their list. Momoka also has baked goods and sandwiches to order as well. I did skip this for this visit because I wasn't too hungry. If you're in the mood for sandwiches though they have egg sando and also fruit sando. The portions are pretty big, larger than both my hands put together for sure. The shop can get a bit loud since it's pretty small but it also gives an intimate feeling. Service was very friendly. Came here bc I saw a reel on instagram. I was shocked by the $12 price for their sandwiches especially the strawberry/cream one. I make my own Japanese 7-11 style egg sandos on my own with real milk bread for a fraction of the $12 cost so could not make myself buy the egg sandwich here but I did get the strawberry/whipped cream sandwich. The bread seemed like it was regular bread. Nothing special. The sandwich itself was good though but definitely not worth another $12. I've been here twice now. The first time I came around 7:30 am and there was one other person in line ahead of me. The interior is very simple and there are a few seats inside. I ordered the mango matcha ($7.50) and an egg sando ($12.00). I could taste the mango flavor and the matcha wasn't overpowering. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Which can be good for this heat wave we have going on; but not so much if you are wanting to enjoy your drink inside because it is super cold in there. Their AC definitely works. Wanted to try out a new local coffee shop and was not disappointed. Got there a little after 12pm and it was quite packed inside. It's fairly small with limited seating but it's very cute and simple inside. Got the maple cinnamon oat cold brew and the mango matcha. The cold brew was delicious and the flavors were well balanced! This led to some confusion as people began to form a line for the sandos and also a line for the matcha but there was no clear directions on how to organize. My friend's mango matcha was also okay, the mango cream topping was probably the best part of it. The matcha itself tasted a little watered down and was not much matcha flavor. The parking itself is in a parking area but it is a bit busy so just be mindful you may not get a close spot but regardless there's enough parking. Cafe Momoka is a new Japanese / Asian style sandwich cafe by Ontario Ranch. Vibe is bright, Asian, and kind of elegant. Service is busy and friendly. I just took an egg sando and ordered the popcorn matcha at stores recommendation. Egg sando is fairly large. It's made with two thick Japanese toasts with egg salad and one egg which is cut in half just like the sando. It's good, egg salad is plain, and egg is fresh. The toast to me is a bit dry. I guess it went viral on the clock app or what have you, but there's not many options for matcha in the area and we wanted a sweet treat after our big lunch. I went during their soft opening and their hours are limited, so know that the line can get quite long. There were maybe around 8 people ahead of us, but by the time we got our drinks and were ready to leave, the line was over 20 people and going out of the cafe and out onto the walkway area outside towards the other business fronts, so it CAN get super busy and backed up. When we went on a Sunday after lunch, all of the fruit sandos were sold out in the fridge area in front, but there were still some egg salad sandos. They have a schedule for when sandos are replenished, so just keep your eyes peeled for that. I got the peach matcha latte and there's peach foam on top and what I think is some sweet dehydrated peach pieces or candy on top. After mixing it, the peach flavor is a subtle sweet aftertaste from the matcha. Pretty good, though the matcha does have a grainy texture to it (what happens when you gotta batch it, but I guarantee you that hand whisking everything as is every time someone orders, that line would go out to parking lot and loop around). I tried my friend's cherry blossom matcha latte and it was sweeter than mine. Not bad though. Not overpoweringly floral or artificial tasting. I also tried another friend's double matcha, not bad. If this makes sense, it would help people gauge the flavor of their matcha. It's better than all of the franchises out there (Matcha Ren, Matcha Maiko, etc.), better than UG Green Tea, and surprisingly better than the matcha latte I've had at Nana's Green Tea, BUT it's nowhere near Airoma or Yamari. So it's like a higher quality medium middle ground tier if that makes any sense. Not bad, pretty good, but if the line is giga long, I wouldn't chance it. read more

Cafe Momoka is tucked away in a pretty bare plaza. It's a cute, small spot, though not ideal for groups or studying. The cashier was really kind, and my drink was ready in about 5 minutes. I mainly came to try their popcorn matcha since I'd only seen the flavor at Torotea. The popcorn flavor was definitely there and had a similar profile, though I wish it had been mixed into the matcha itself instead of just the foam for a stronger flavor. The matcha was high quality with a smooth, mellow profile- though I prefer a more grassy, astringent matcha. I also liked the toffee bits, which added a nice bit of texture. The fruit sandos were surprisingly hefty and really good. They were generously filled with strawberries, banana, and cream, making the price feel worth it. Neither was overly sweet, which I appreciated. The chocolate cream had a rich cacao flavor with cacao nibs instead of tasting artificially chocolatey. The bread wasn't as fluffy as traditional milk bread, but it was soft and sturdy. Cafe Momoka has me wanting more!! This is literally the best matcha shop in the IE right now. Love that they opened a shop right in the blossoming Ontario Ranch area near my parents' place, so I definitely have a new go to when I'm here. With everyone hopping in the matcha game, I think a lot of these shops are sacrificing quality and even getting lazy with aesthetics just to get into the minimalist cafe market. But from the moment I stepped in, the team behind Momoka clearly thought out their interior design--minimalist yet nods to Japanese culture (as they should with matcha being primarily from Japan!!). The staff was super warm and welcoming, literally asking me questions with the utmost courtesy and evening handing me my items so delicately lol. I went in for just a basic matcha for a tried and true test (no bells and whistles like cold foam, flavors, etc.). I got mine less sweet (50%), and man oh man was this matcha DELICIOUS. Creamy but with just the right amount of umami (was not too grassy, which I hate because I'm not a cow lol). Half sweet was just where I like it. Matcha wasn't super strong either, which some places can be. If you want it stronger, they have a double matcha! I also love the fact that they have egg and fruit sandos made FRESH at certain hours, which they post. Also can't wait for them to launch their tiramisu. Now for some logistics: It was a Monday late afternoon when I went, so there wasn't too much traffic, but I'm sure on the weekends this place is popping. I saw a few outlets, but not sure if they offer wifi here at the moment. But definitely enough seating for a catch up or doing some light work. Parking was easy as it's in a strip mall. Upon coming back here again, I finally got to try the egg sando and strawberry sando. Plus the popcorn cold brew and popcorn matcha. I noticed they finally figured out a system to have the fresh sandos available at all hours. They drop them every hour at specific times like 7 am, 10 am, 11:30am, etc. So that's good! Surprisingly, the strawberry sando was good. The cream in it was actually lightly sweet and complimented the strawberry just fine. We Asians love not too sweet! Lol. The bread has a little sweetness too. I think it's the same bread they used for the egg sando. It is good...but not as good as obviously Japan's classic egg sandwiches from like 7-11 or Lawson's. I guess those are hard to emulate. I just wish they used a different bread since it did kind of taste sweet to me. The popcorn matcha was ok initially at first sip. I could not taste the popcorn flavoring in the matcha portion. But the foam definitely had it, and when mixed, it tasted great together. If only they had vegan foam/cream since I had almond milk with mine, because the cream on top is still dairy. I preferred the popcorn cold brew! That tasted really good. And I liked the cherry blossom matcha previously. I need to try the other drinks! There is a bit of a stinky smell when you walk in. Someone said it's maybe because of the eggs. Stopped by Café Momoka and tried the banana matcha along with the egg sando. Both were really good! The egg sando was fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering. The banana matcha was good as well. I've had better banana matchas at a few other spots, but this one falls somewhere in the middle. I'm writing this review in the coffee shop at the moment, and I hardly do that! I usually like to wait to add my review, but because they're having a soft opening, I want to give my two cents on this moment and again once they have their grand opening. Located on Archibald in Ontario, momoka has been giving their soft opening hours starting on June 6th and with adjusting hours June 8th. Their hours are from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM, which is a two hour difference than their soft opening. Upon coming inside, there is a very modern Japanese aesthetic. It has white wooden structures built around it and cute accent cushions. Offering strawberry sandos and egg sandos for $12, they also have baked goods in a little display case. On their drink menu, there are over 15 drinks available. You can add an extra dollar to face a cream top. Today, I opted for their maple cinnamon oat cold brew with a cream top ($7 total). I also picked up their egg sandos. My drink was quite sweet and tasted exactly like Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. Which is phenomenal. Yet, I'm wondering about the caffeine and coffee level, because I can't quite taste the coffee being masked by everything else. I don't mind it on sweet days, but will mind this when I'm looking for coffee notes. There are two workers and the store owner. They are currently hiring and I overheard their interviews. It's quite new and in the works, so they are working everything out. I believe this place has potential and is such a cute addition to the Ontario area. Visited Momoka Cafe during their soft opening, and although it was busy, I had a great experience. The cafe has a clean, minimalist aesthetic that feels both modern and welcoming. I ordered the Popcorn Matcha, and it was surprisingly delicious! The flavor sounded a little unusual at first, but the popcorn and matcha paired really well together and created a unique drink that stood out from the usual matcha offerings. There is plenty of indoor seating, including tables and stools with outlets, making it a great place to study, work, or simply relax with a drink. It was a little challenging to find a seat because of the soft opening crowd, but it was nice to see so many people supporting a new local business. I was sad to see the chocolate banana sando removed from the menu--I truly feel like it wasn't given enough of a chance, as it was such a unique and enjoyable option. The staff is always quick and efficient at keeping the line moving while also keeping customers informed about sando restocks. So far, I've tried the egg, strawberry, chocolate banana, and peach sandos, and I've enjoyed trying the different flavors. I was here to try the fruit sando ($12). Luckily, I came in time when they restocked both the egg and fruit sando. The sandwich was not deeply sweet, and it was just perfect with the fresh strawberries. I didn't order any drink. Ambiance is super cute and nice. read more
