    Enfrijoladas

Nice atmosphere, and food is delivered timely. I got the Enfrijoladas and it was tasty, and filling. I would order this again.

Had a reservation for Cocina 35 as our post half marathon meal. Needless to say, we were excited and running on an empty belly. Arrived at our reservation time and ended up needing to wait an additional 20 mins before being seated. I recognize they're busy but what's the point of a reservation? At least they were nice about it. Also was given the heads up that dining is limited to 60 mins. Def feel that's a bit annoying cause rather than feeling like I'm in for a relaxing dining experience, I'm needing to rush through my meal against a 60 min clock. Had an agua fresca, Mexican coke, and BYO chilaquiles. The food was good - especially the creamy habanero sauce. It was atypical and unique. The service was ok - staff was friendly but just lacking presence. Overall, food was really good but don't love their delays, dining limits, and quick churn customer service.

I visited on a Saturday morning. There are metered parking all around and some 2-hr parking in the neighborhood. If you don't have a reservation, expect to wait 30 minutes or more. We ended up in the outdoor seating area. It is spacious and comfortable, but it can get a bit chilly outside. For food, the chilaquiles al pastor was great. It comes with a delicious crema, and the spice really creeps up on you! We also ordered the ranchero chilaquiles. It tasted good, but felt like it was a bit light on the chorizo. You can ask for their hot sauce for some extra kick. We also ordered the fresca flight. It was a fun concept to try all their fresca but they're really tiny. The mango flavor was our favorite. The other flavors were more watery. We finished with the churros con cajeta, which were exceptionally tasty. The service was excellent. The staff was attentive and checked in on us often. Overall, brunch here is on the pricier side. However, the food is very flavorful. The quality is also very consistent with each visit. It is a solid choice for weekend chilaquiles.

Back again!!! Decided to take a wild day trip to San Diego to take my kids to the zoo, and Cocina 35 was of course my breakfast of choice. Absolutely wonderful just like my first visit, this time I opted for a sampler plate and was not disappointed. Both times I have been in San Diego this meal lasts all day long.... The portion sizes and wild and the food is spectacular. We loved every single thing on the table and this will be my first stop every time I'm randomly in San Diego. Coffee is great, service is great, the restaurant itself if cozy and clean. And come on, mouthwash in the bathroom? Sold.

The restaurant is very pretty and has a great overall vibe. Parking is either street or paid lots, but luckily we went on a Sunday when street parking downtown was free, which made things easier. It was pretty busy, so I'm glad we made reservations that same morning--it was quick, easy, and there were plenty of time slots available. We only waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The staff was very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I ordered the creamy chipotle chilaquiles with carnitas. They were really good, but definitely on the spicy side--so much that I couldn't finish them. I also tried the café de olla latte, but honestly it didn't have much flavor, which was a bit disappointing. One thing we noticed was that other tables around us were being offered conchas, but we were never offered any, which felt a little inconsistent. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would come back to try other items on the menu.

You do need a reservation, but it's very easy to make online, and there were plenty of time options available. The decor is absolutely beautiful! We felt a little underdressed at first, but we were told there's no strict dress code, which made us feel much more comfortable. I have three kids, and each of them was given a colorful bag with a tic-tac-toe game and a paper they could color. They loved it and stayed entertained the whole time! It was such a nice touch and different from the typical kids' coloring sheets you see at most restaurants. I will say they don't offer the usual chicken tenders and fries on the kids' menu, but that didn't stop us--we were happy to try something new for them. Our experience with the waiter and every staff member we interacted with was nothing short of amazing. It's clear the owner paid attention to every single detail when creating this place. Even the bathrooms are beautiful--and they even provide mouthwash! It really felt like an experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, and a standout detail was the cart that comes by with conchas and Abuelita coffee--such a unique and memorable addition. I also loved looking at the photos on the walls. Being here made me feel proud, and I truly appreciate how our culture is celebrated in such an elegant and beautiful way.

This was our first time at this location and food was brought out quick and hot. The plates were colorful and so good. We can't wait to come back.

Regular serving of Chilaquiles with eggs over easy

The food here is always delicious. It's always fresh and full of flavor. I recommend getting the Tochomorocho instead of a full order of Chilaquiles. The Tochomorocho has a smaller portion of chilaquiles with your choice of sauce, huevos rancheros, sweet corn tamale, and a side of beans. It's $24.00, which is about the same you'd pay for Chilaquiles with a protein or eggs. My big complaint is that the prices have gone up quite a lot in the last year. $20 for chilaquiles is just a bit much. The service and ambiance is fast paced and much less friendly than it used to be. It feels like you're being rushed in and out so they can put another person in your seat.

The food at Cocina 35 was amazing -- easily a 5/5. Everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and really well made. You can tell the kitchen knows what it's doing. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. No one came by to check on us, and we had to ask for water three different times before it was finally brought to the table. What made it more frustrating was seeing other tables around us being checked on regularly while we were kind of forgotten. Food: Service: Overall: I'd definitely come back for the food, but I really hope the service improves because it would make the whole experience so much better.

I went here today for brunch and the food was ok. We didn't make a reservation, but it was pretty quick to get a table. Our food came out way before our coffee did so we ended up taking our coffee to go. I didn't know how to say it but I lowkey saw a couple roaches there both inside and outside. I get its location but that's kind of bad. After that, I just can't unsee it.

Great food and a very welcoming, friendly host. The server was polite, but at times it felt like items were being suggested without clearly mentioning there would be an added charge. For example, we were asked to choose a meat option without being told it would cost extra, even though the menu photos seemed to include it. Luckily, we asked before completing our order, but the lack of clarity didn't sit well. We also requested a glass of water but were told only bottled water was available due to a lack of glasses- additional charge. Additionally, milk for coffee came with an extra charge that wasn't mentioned upfront. Overall, the food was delicious, with great music and a clean environment.

This place is so pretty inside. Beautiful views and delicious food. Service is good despite being busy on a Sunday at 1pm.

This was our first stop after arriving in San Diego. We were starving and wanted something close to our hotel. We had no idea that the restaurant is literally next door. Anyway, this place is super popular. There was a line when we arrived at about 11:30 California time (1:30 our time). We gave our name and waited about 15 minutes. We used that time to study the menu and by the time we were called, we could hardly wait! Everything looked so good. I had the burritos with pibil pork with mild red sauce. They were superb. The wife had the combo platter which was huge. I don't remember everything but there were 5 or 6 separate items and she ate them all! The sweet corn tamale stood out my mind. The chilaquiles with red sauce was really good and had a slight kick. The kid had an eggs and French toast plate and ate it all! We had churros for dessert although we were totally full and they were superfluous. Service was very good. Jaceline was friendly and professional. Ambience is pure Mexican. We felt like we were in Mexico with the music and the vibe. It was fun. Given the fact that the restaurant is next to our hotel, we will be back for sure.

I am so sad because I can't remember the name of our waitress! She was amazing because she was so ON POINT with everything -- from knowing the details of each menu item, to knowing what "medium+" is for a steak. She was attentive and amazing and shoutout to her! The food and tiny 'tinis were delicious! The steak and fries were such a good deal for $25. I could've eaten two of them, and now that I'm writing this months later, I'm thinking about that meal again. There is also a spot where the live musician plays, which is awesome! Once seated, though, we sat for about 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. I eventually had to flag someone down just to get water. We then waited even longer for our server to take our order. Because service was so slow, I ordered all of our drinks and food at once since I wasn't sure when we'd see our server again. What stood out even more was watching a couple seated next to us receive immediate attention. They were greeted, served water right away, and the woman was offered a purse hook. Meanwhile, we were sitting there with our purses shoved beside us and weren't offered the same courtesy. It may seem like a small detail, but combined with the lack of attention, it made us feel overlooked. The drinks came out quickly, and the chicken satay and mac and cheese were decent. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out food-wise either. The highlight of the evening was definitely the live music. The performers were fantastic and created a great atmosphere that honestly was the only enjoyable part of the evening.

So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! We put down our name and number after receiving the confirmation text, we decided to walk the market the next street over, that took 20 minutes. We came back and waited and saw other people walk up and be sat to a table instantly. We then asked how much longer it would be we were told 5 minutes. We waited, not a problem. We saw at least 5 more parties walk up and be sat down instantly (we were a party of 3 btw). We asked the hostess yet again, when will we be sat down, at this point we've been waiting for an hour we saw a table be cleaned and yet again another walk up was sat down instantly, that was a party of 4. We asked what the hold up was, one hostess said we can be seated now, we walk in and then she stopped us then asked would we like to be sat outside, we said doesn't matter at this point, she jetted outside and left us just standing there on the inside. I asked her what's going on are we being sat down? She said no wait 5 minutes for a table. At this point we're getting frustrated because why is the organization at this point TERRIBLE, but a walk up is not an issue. I then tell the hostess we've been waiting over an hour and you mean to tell me every walk up gets sat down instantly but not the people who have been waiting on the list, she answers me by saying "yes". After a table is cleared on the inside a hostess tells us to follow her to a table, she then asks how many is in my party when she was the main one who checked us in and saw us waiting the whole time. After all that time, our waiter was running behind so his manager took our order and kept apologizing to us. When we finally get our orders, the food was equivalent as to going into IHOP or Dennys. Nothing stood out, flavor was lacking. At this point we were better off going to Broken Yolk across the street. Customer service and the waitlist system seriously needs major improvement here. Simple manners and accountability lack here as well when it comes to making mistakes. Only thing I liked was my chai latte. Most likely will not come back here.

Outside of the peanut oil surprising us, everyone's food was phenomenal! The service was great and we even got to meet Richard himself and he was very sweet. We ordered the thin Swedish pancakes which were yummy especially with the lingonberries! We also got the German Baked Pancake which took ~20 minutes as it said in the menu, so all of the food took that time as well. We got the GF/peanut oil free pancakes and they were still good. The inside was beautiful with the stained glass look and there was tons of outside seating as well. We walked right up on a Thursday morning around 9 AM and got seated instantly.

I recently took a trip out to San Diego for an appointment and stopped by Breakfast Republic; and…read morewow, everything was absolutely delicious! The interior is super organized, and I loved that they have a full bar area as well. We started with some mimosas, which were fantastic and the perfect kickoff to breakfast. For food, I ordered the Vegan Tres Leches Pancakes, and they were incredible. They were so naturally flavorful and moist that they barely even needed any maple syrup; the combination of the pistachio brittle and vegan buttercream on top was perfect on its own. My friend ordered the Shrimp and Crab Cake Benedict and loved it. He said it was packed with flavor, not dry at all, and didn't taste overly fishy; just perfect in every way. To top it all off, our server was so sweet, checked on us often, and was incredibly proactive throughout our meal. Great food, great drinks, and excellent service. I will definitely recommend to vegans and non vegans. Just to clarify for anyone looking to visit; Breakfast Republic isn't a fully vegan restaurant, but they do have a fair amount of great vegan options clearly marked on the menu.

The atmosphere didn't feel kid-friendly at all--loud, crowded, and not really accommodating if you have children with you. On top of that, the food didn't match the hype. It looked good but the quality just wasn't there, especially for the price. What really stood out to me though was the dynamic in the restaurant. The entire dining area was filled almost exclusively with white customers, while the visible staff roles felt very segmented in a way that didn't sit right. Here's the puzzle: look around the room, look at who is being seen, look at who is serving, look at who is clearing... and then ask yourself why the only person worth looking at wasn't even part of the experience they're trying to sell. Between the atmosphere, the food quality, and that underlying vibe, it's not somewhere I'd go back to.
