I received more than a few recommendations on this place. To end my Mother's Day trip, we dined here prior to departing SD. The portion size is very large. The texture and taste are all pleasurable. I had the banana pancakes, with two over well eggs, crispy bacon, with potatoes. I couldn't complete it all, I took my leftovers with me. The orange juice tastes as if it's fresh squeeze! The service was kind. The feel of this restaurant is home. I adore the restaurants that were once a house turned into a place of business. Something about it spiritually makes me feel a bit grounded into history. I love the fresh rosemary they place in the dish as well. Such a unique touch of earthy-love I'm just glad it wasn't a hour wait or longer how I was repeatedly warned. We got seats right away. Could've been due to the construction on the street near by. I'll definitely return whenever I'm in town.
Hash House was such a great place to have brunch at! There was no line for a party of 6 on a Sunday around 1pm, and we were seated right away. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The food was amazing! In particular, I enjoyed the fried chicken and waffle tower and their roasted chicken hash. I was surprised they didn't include a side of butter along with their biscuits, but I'll probably just ask for it next time. One important thing to note is that their dishes are HUGE. All 6 of us had our own dishes, but I would highly highly recommend ordering a couple dishes and sharing it family style if you're dining with a group. One note I did have about Hash House is how overstimulating the menu is lol. The menu had a lot of clashing fonts, colors, and clip art images, it made it hard to digest the menu. I didn't even notice some menu offerings because of how busy the menu was. Also, our waitress did initially charge us for 6 coffees, even though we only had 3. It was a good thing we caught that error on the receipt before paying. Overall, the food at Hash House is definitely worth coming back for.
When I go to Vegas, Hash House A Go Go is always a stop for me. So I was excited when I saw a location close to the airport when I landed in San Diego. This location is way smaller, but I get it, I can't compare this to Vegas. So the restaurant was small but quaint. It was a nice change to the hustle and bustle of the locations. The customer service was still great and our server took good care of us. My qualm was in the food quality. It just wasn't as well prepared as the other locations I've been to. The food seem to lack seasoning even though I get the same thing every time. I always get a banana brown sugar pancake, the sage fried chicken, and scrambled eggs. It was just so lackluster and I was so disappointed . My husband did enjoy his meal and his coffee (I think it was a French banana latte) was really good. My coffee was meh (I think it was the Indy Giddy Up). I'm not positive I would return to this location but maybe they just had an off day. Also at the time there was a lot of street construction. Parking is tight and you would need to prob pay for parking in the lot across the street if you can't find street parking.
Our sever, Desire, was exceptional. She was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, polite, prompt and very attentive. Portion sizes are ginormous. Post Covid prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get with your meal. Nice clean establishment.

The champagne they used was cheap and flavorless. Oh and one more thing they had no ranch. That right there was it for me. The 3 stars are for the french fries those were actually good.

The plates are massive so if you have a healthy appetite then you are at the right place. Plus there are a ton of items on the menu so there's something for everyone. The parking is get in where you can fit in on the street but it wasn't difficult. They have indoor and outdoor seating in the back. Our server Ulises was great which he immediately greeted us and was very attentive even with the Father's Day crowd. I decided to try the rib and eggs and I have to admit, I was very happy with my choice. The ribs were lightly sauced with a thin sauce that worked well. The meat was tender and had great flavor. I just didn't like the grass they put on top!lol The eggs were okay. I added cheese but I barely had any compared to my friends. The cantaloupe was a nice sweet treat afterwards. I tried my friend's meal and they were also good which they also enjoyed their meals overall. I also tried a one of the Bloody Mary flights which was the only tequila shot with pork skin on top. I do not like savory and spicy drinks but that particular shot was decent and was hot sauce for the pork skin. Overall, the experience was nice and the food was good especially for the value.
Somewhere between a classic American diner and modern American brunch place with excellent service, ambiance, and food. We were seated outdoors and were welcome to bring our dog. Our waiter was charismatic, attentive, and helpful. As all the reviews mention, the portions are massive, probably enough to share between 2-3 people each. I ordered: Peanut butter mocha - Done decently, with strong coffee and not just sweet, but has a slight almost alcohol flavor that was cloying on the tongue Raspberry macadamia flapjack with scrambled eggs and crispy potatoes - The flapjack is so amazingly thick and fluffy, one of the best pancakes I've had. The macadamia is chopped small and pretty abundant throughout, with big pockets of juicy raspberries. I had the option between sausage, bacon, and crispy potatoes (unusual that you have to choose between potatoes and protein), and got the crispy potatoes to try. They were indeed crisp, but altogether not that special. The flavor was just salt and not much else. Andy's famous fried chicken benedict - Delicious. Show stopper. Get it. Just pure deliciousness on a plate with an incredible and rich sauce coating every bite of crispy, juicy chicken and veggie packed, garlicky mashed potatoes. It's fun to marvel at the massive portions coming out of the kitchen together, the service is great, and there are some really tasty items on the menu. Definitely worth an occasional stop.

They do such a great job of creating unique flavor profiles in all of their dishes. Pancakes are great, but I can never get away from the Sage Fried Chicken Benedict. That dish is life changing!! Always good service and a vibrant atmosphere to boot.
Out and about in Balboa Park at dawn this morning, so brunch seemed like a good idea afterwards. Don't let the street construction deter you - HH is definitely worth a visit. I'd never eaten corned beef hash before, so fiancee and I decided to split one order. As others mention, portions are huge so this was the right call for us. I was pleasantly surprised by the scrumptiousness of the corned beef. It was well seasoned, enrobed in cheese, and studded with onions as well as multi hued peppers. The accompanying biscuit was so so in flavor, but the house made strawberry - cranberry jam helped a bit. Wish there had been more fruit variety instead of one small slice of cantaloupe, but all in all a solid early morning dining destination.
Wow wow wow. If you wanted to eat a solid brunch and take home the rest for multiple meals later - Hash House A Go Go is THE SPOT! The dishes are massive and savory and totally worth it. The staff is friendly and it's just a chill spot to grab brunch. Will definitely be back!
Gotta try the hash for what their restaurant name stands for :) We both like the corn beef hash we got and the portion is huge enough for two. The service is friendly and attentive. I hope they didn't get affected too much from the construction.
First time here, and I can see why this is a local favorite. The eggs Benedict's are outstanding, come in huge portion sizes that you can share with another, and are paired with this delicious creamy sauce. There is a bit of a wait but it's definitely worth the wait
This is definitely a super cute and fun place to go to especially if you're celebrating something or want to go eat brunch with your family. Come hungry! The portions are huge, and are definitely shareable. We got the HH corn beef hash. This dish came with two eggs and a giant biscuit and a piece of honeydew. It was definitely a lot of food and they gave you a lot of corn beef, which sat on top of crispy potatoes. We also got the sage fried chicken waffle tower, which came with three waffles and three pieces of chicken. The chicken was crispy, but the waffle rolls were kind of dry and you had to put the syrup on it for them to be good. Lastly, we got the #1 signature skillet scramble, which came with potatoes, a piece of honeydew, and a huge biscuit. The potatoes are really good and crispy. We also got a side of their gravy to have with our giant biscuits. Their dishes are huge and definitely able to share much of their seating is outside, especially if you have a big party.

Wow! Everything about this place was phenomenal. The atmosphere, the food, and the service. The inside gives western diner in the absolute best way possible! It's got the decor, chairs, and art to match. Jessica was our server and she was amazing! She gave us lots of suggestions on what to try and what is on the menu since it was my first time here. She recommended the bloody Mary flight so did grab that to try! We also ordered the biscuits and gravy to share and orange juice. The portions are so large! So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! Everything tasted so delicious and was garnished beautifully. Well worth the 22 dollars. Biscuits and Gravy: Absolute perfection of comfort food. The biscuits were so fluffy and well seasoned. The gravy was also soooo good, just like my mom makes. The sausage in it was also cooked so well and juicy. I've never tried mashed potatoes with the biscuits and gravy but it worked very well! Orange Juice: Not a fan really, not pulpy enough and I wasn't a fan of the flavor. Overall this is definitely a must visit! I will definitely be back. read more

I ordered the crispy salmon sandwich which was good but it's a lot I couldn't finish it fully my husband got the crispy chicken stack which is what I should've got. For some reason, the other persons food is always better than what I get.. well sometimes lol.. the service is friendly. Leave em a good tip they do their best. The Ambience be having me feel like I wanna dance or do karaoke because the playlist is so fire! Thank you, this is our second time coming to this location! I love it read more
Another amazing breakfast at Hash House! When we come to San Diego, we always come here! It's nice tgat you can make a reservation, well in advance, as this packets packed! We brought our cousins here, there first visit! Part of the fun is spectating the dishes getting served. Ginormous portions and very creatively put together! Highly recommend sharing the dishes, nothing better than than having more tastes! Having one of their sweet pancake or French Toast otems is a must. Biscuits are amazing here! We ordered The Tractor Driver Combo and upgraded to the Banana Pecan French toast, Breakfast Pudding (made with biscuits), Corned Beef Hash, and Blueberry Pecan Pancake. The pancake wash so big, did they use a pizza peel to flip it, just WOW! Alm the food was great! They make excellent and creative Bloody Mary's, including a flight! We ordered their standard Hash House Bloody Marys, very tasty! Their hot chocolates are amazing, best for desert and a meal on its own! Thank you Hash Housecfor another great visit! read more

We love this brunch spot when we come to San Diego because of the extremely large portion sizes, but actually the quality of food also goes along way and luckily this place has both The sage chicken meal is the biggest item on the menu and I will definitely go for it next time because I loved seeing it come to other tables We ordered the veggie skillet, but there are so many things to try If I'm being honest, the menu is very overwhelming but the good part is that everything taste good so whatever you order will end up being a good pic Everyone is very nice and helpful. Haven't been here in soooo long but today my belly was happy. The food was exactly how I remembered. Made a reservation online but showed up a little early. They were kind enough to seat us sooner as there was no wait. The streets are being worked on so parking was a nightmare. The menu has a variety of delicious breakfast items. I chose the chicken and waffles, it was just as big and delicious as I remember. The chocolate chip pancake it huge! I wonder how big the spatula is for that thing the iced coffee was the nice boost I needed. Inside is classic farm chic, you feel like your at your grandma's farm in the country. Genrous food portions and comfort you didn't know you needed. read more
Took a business partner to breakfast when he was visiting from out of town. He was just about to get on a flight to Nashville and I figured I'd put him in a food coma for the flight. I absolutely adore this restaurant, when I used to live in San Diego I used to come here all the time for breakfast, they have the biggest portions and the tastiest food! Usually on weekends, it's insane or impossible to get a spot but if you get here as soon as they open, you shouldn't have any problems. There isn't a lot of parking available so street parking and residential is ideal, my favorite thing to order is the sage chicken with waffles, I love how savory it is. Again, it's a huge portion. Most recently, my partner and I had the banana pancakes and they were so delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant especially if you are visiting San Diego. read more
HASH HOUSE A GO GO @ DOWNTOWN SD Parking is available for street only it is free. However you might find spots are also for the meters. There's also Ace parking as well. We came on a Saturday morning around 9 AM, and the line was already out the door, it was packed. The wait time was an hour and 15 minutes, and there were tons of people ahead of us, but my friends and I decided to stay. Ironically, we got seated exactly at the 1 hour and 15 minute mark, so they definitely keep their word. Once we got inside, the restaurant had more of an old-school diner vibe, not modern, kind of nostalgic and classic. Definitely come hungry because most of the menu items range from about $20 to $40. It's on the pricier side, but you understand why once you see how huge the portions are. Their chicken-fried chicken is extremely popular, so you'll see a lot of people ordering Andy's famous fried chicken with waffles. I got the sausage, pancake, and chicken plate, which was about $22. The portion was massive and it came with a cherry topping on the side plus syrup. Overall, the food was delicious. Our table also ordered their banana mocha latte for $9, and they have hot chocolate too. Their gravy is so good. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the downtown area, it's only about a six-minute drive from the airport. Just be prepared to wait an hour or two depending on the time you arrive. The service was also great; the person who took care of us was super kind and gave us amazing recommendations. read more

Food is always delicious here and portions are plenty big. My favorite now is that they continue to not have the pot roast but scramble is the fried chicken Benedict. It is a great combination of their fabulous moist and crunchy sage fried chicken, hash house's famous biscuits topped with yummy red pepper cream sauce, spinach, potatoes and melon. I prefer this combination over the fried chicken and waffles. The beef tenderloin skewers were also good. Service is good. I can't believe they lift heavy, large serving platters. Ambience is homey. Lots of fabulous drinks to choose from! The flight of bloody Mary looked very enticing. We will have to get that next time! read more

Love this place! Visiting from SF. As we entered we were immediately greeted & seated. Our server, Jessica, was so kind & friendly with such a positive vibe. She made our brunch time so fun! Thank you, Jessica! I give her a 1000/10. There needs to be more Jessica's in this world. She made great recommendations & everything we had was delicious! I had the portobello mushroom, spinach & Brie cheese skillet scramble without red peppers - Jessica suggested fresh tomatoes. Great recommendation! Side of potatoes was really good, too. Hubby had the San Diego Barrio Scramble. He loved it! When we're back in San Diego we would definitely return to Hash House A Go Go. My girlfriend had talked to me about how good Hash House is and we've come twice now. The first time I felt like their food missed the mark relative to what my girlfriend had described to me. It was still good and I could see that this place could definitely do better, so we definitely wanted to come back in hopes of a tastier experience, and I tastier experience I got. The vibes and ambiance of the place are exactly what you'd expect from a busy diner, there's always a buzz going on with constant flow of conversation from their many patrons (both times we've come the place has been packed), you hear the constant clinging and clanging of silverware on plates, and there is always movement about with all of the waitstaff taking care of customers. Our order consisted of two Indy Giddy Up Coffees (this is how I knew the coffee was going to be delicious! My girlfriend typically does not go for coffee), Andy's Sage Fried Chicken for me, and the Lemon Blackberry Baked French Toast for my girlfriend. 1.) The Giddy Up Coffee was amazing in every way, and extremely dangerous for me. I tend to chug my drinks when I like them, and this would've been no different. It took a great deal of effort to be conscious of how much I was drinking since I still wanted to have some for when the food arrived. It's the right amount of coffee and the right amount of condensed milk. 2.) The Fried Chicken Benedict was an enormous portion, which I'll never complain about. The dish as a whole was delicious and all of the components added to the dish. Asked for the chipotle cream on the side, and I'm glad I did. While it was good, it wasn't necessary, and I'm a strong believer in less is more in large dishes like this. The combination of griddled cheese, fresh tomatoes/spinach, and bacon had the right amount of textures and the flavors mingled beautifully. 3.) Unfortunately, the French Toast missed the mark. The fruits used for the toppings were very fresh and sweet. They were the highlight of the dish, which you wouldn't expect from French Toast. The rest of the dish was a bit too soggy and lacking in blackback berry and lemon flavors. Shoutout the server that tended to us for making my girlfriends day and giving her a portion of the fruit toppings to make up for the Toast missing the mark! Overall it was a 4/5 dining experience and I will be coming back to try more of the menu. read more
Absolutely insanely large portions! This place is a cute brunch spot with indoor and outdoor seating. We came here after a night out and wanted some comforting American style brunch and this place definitely did it! The servers were super nice and checked in with us throughout the meal and our food came out so fast. The food here was delicious! The portions were huge, way more than expected. Everyone in our group needed a to-go box because each meal could easily feed you for three! We came on a Monday morning with a party of six and got seated right away. Our host checked on us multiple times and made sure everything was perfect. Loved it here! read more
Went here onna Monday as a group of 4 with no reservation and was seated pretty quickly. Place looks like a cute lil family dining room. Our servers were exceptionally patient with us because I remember taking a long time to order and asking for multiple things at different times so they had to visit us constantly. Shout out them. Each entree was FAT. Don't let the price tag (~$27 per entree) scare you this thing can feed you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And some of these plates come with a whole variety of stuff to try. For example, my gf and I shared the Indiana Chicken n Mush and that alone came with a fillet of their delicious sage fried chicken, sausage gravy, mashed potatoes, crispy polenta, fried veggies, 2 eggs, AND they let me have some sauces from other menu items on the side. Came here with a big group and had such a great experience. The staff was incredibly accommodating--we had a table of 30, and they handled everything so smoothly. They checked in ahead of time, confirmed details, and made the whole process easy. The portions here are no joke. Everything is massive, so go hungry or plan to share. I ordered the French banana latte and the salmon benedict--both were excellent. The latte was sweet but balanced, and the benedict came with perfectly poached eggs and a generous serving of salmon. The space has a fun, lively vibe, and the team kept everything running effortlessly even with our large group. We were looking for a new place to have lunch and we saw Hash House A Go Go had over 8700 reviews so we had to come check it out!!! First off, it's off street parking or walk a couple of blocks for a paid parking spot. It's actually a nice walk. You'll walk past lots of eateries and see what other people are eating!! ;) Once you've made it to the front entrance, the nice young lady will ask if you have reservations. If not, you'll be added to the waitlist and they'll text you when ready. We were trying to stay healthier so we opted for the Indiana Sage Fried Chicken salad. The salad was excellent. The fried chicken had some crunchy to it but it was on the cold side. Once it gets cold, it seemed on the drier side. You'll have to dip it in the salad dressing. I know if the chicken was hot, the greenery of the salad would wilt. I guess it's a no win situation! I will ask for the chicken on the side next time so it could be delivered hot. The people next to us ordered the famous flapjacks. The portion was huge!! With all the fixings, they couldn't finish it!! Overall, it was a nice experience! Our waitress was extremely helpful and upbeat. Especially in a full house situation. She went above and beyond her duties. The restaurant itself had really cool antique decor. It was extremely clean. I finally made it to Hash House A Go Go and ordered their signature Sage Fried Chicken & Waffle Tower--and wow, what a brunch spectacle. Three layers of golden waffles, huge slabs of sage-infused fried chicken, and just the right amount of crisp. It arrives stacked high, it's visually impressive, and you'll definitely walk out with leftovers. Hash House knows how to make you feel like you got your money's worth. Flavor & Seasoning: The sage in the chicken is more than just a garnish--there's a subtle herbal punch that plays very nicely against the richness of the fried breading. The waffles are fluffy and slightly crisp on the edges, with enough sugar and butter to make each bite satisfying without being sickly sweet. Service & Atmosphere: The staff was friendly and attentive (even though the place was bustling), which made the wait feel less of a chore. I've been to Vegas location, so why not try one in SD? It's located in hillcrest so.. street parking only. We had to park at least 4-5 blocks away. We put in our name down and it took at least 30-40 mins to get seated for party of two. We did order drinks while we waited but you had to be inside the restaurant if you had drinks. which was fine with us. Biscuits and gravy - 2/5. Gravy was very very watery. it was more like soup than anything else. you cannot really mess up biscuits but gravy felt real short. TJ Mary- 3/5. this also felt flat. This isn't what we were expecting and it really want' good. too much mary mix, not enough tequila. Spicy Marg- 2/5. this was not spicy at all. did they put a drop of spicy in this glass?
