    Spicy Chicken Sandwich
    Rachel K.

Ali was so kind and made great conversation. The establishment is clean and well kept. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and fries with a drink. The sandwich was CRISPY, like you could feel the texture through the soft toasted bun. This is a slow burn type of spice, warms you up from the inside out and suddenly you wonder why your eyes and nose are watering! LOL. I loved it. The herbed mayo was fragrant and creamy. Paired perfectly with the Thai chili oil. The fries are excellent, whatever seasoning he puts on it makes them super addicting. The house made ranch is thick and creamy, nice zing to it. I really enjoyed my meal. Highly recommend.

The best chicken and waffles I've ever had! First time I had these was over pandemic when we ordered for take out. It took over an hour but when we opened the box, I was surprised that the waffles were not soggy from all the steam. It retain its texture, the flavor was semi sweet and I didn't need to use syrup. That's how I like my waffles and to me, that's a major bonus. The chicken was juicy even though it's white meat. The flavor in the breading was on point as far as spice levels. Fast forward, post pandemic, we've revisited several times and this past weekend, it was just how I remembered it. The location shares a space with the donut shop. Parking in that lot is tight, you would be lucky if you found one. It's also not the best area. There are a few tables inside to dine in. We ate it fresh and took 30 minutes for our order to come out. Recommend to call in your order. Prices are reasonable, the combo #1 came with 2 tenders, waffle or fries and a side. The mac and cheese wasn't super creamy. It was a perfect mix of cheddar and Parmesan. Ali's fries were also a nice treat. Similar to carne asada fries with all the toppings. We got chicken instead of shrimp. The spicy chicken sandwich was not spicy. They said next time, to let them know that we want it higher than Thai spice I also got sambusas, which are similar to empanadas or samosas but different shape. Choice of filling, I got savory. This was not my favorite because of the dried texture. The chicken curry just needed dipping sauce. Overall, we would come back here again and again.

Today all I wanted was some good fried chicken. Searched yelp and took a chance with Ali's. At first glance you won't find it but keep looking the food is great. The spicy chicken was all that it lived up to its hype. Chicken slice is generous with a smaller toasty bun. Their thai chile is fantastic super spicy. I got an extra side. The mac n cheese was also delicious. Nice cheese pull for sure. Shrimp was so good I just had to try a side. Nice size shrimp too to pair with my coconut syrup it was finger lickin good. The waffle was just okay It was a little to hard for my liking. It wasnt horrible just a tad over cooked. Can't wait to come back and try their chicken strips. I would suggest extra herb mayo. Service was great super helpful and willing to make suggestions. Place is small so you might need to go if your a larger party. Enjoy.

I finally tried Ali's Chicken & Waffles and OMG the food was SO good. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, and the waffles were soft, buttery, and hit the spot. The fries were hot and fresh too. Everything tasted made-to-order and full of flavor. Definitely comfort food done right I can already tell I'm going to be craving this place again soon. 10/10 experience!

This is the best fired chicken you could get in San Diego. I'm genuinely craving everything on this menu everyday. I go once a week and it hits the spot every time and makes me hate life less. There are friendly workers and I love the donut shop in there too.

Wow! I'm impressed! My cousin ordered Ali's from uber eats. I'm not a chicken sandwhich type girl but had the chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, waffle and grits. Everything was so fire! The chicken sandwich was real chicken breast. The waffles came with this coconut syrup that I swear tastes just like the Cambodian coconut sauce. 10/10 The mac and cheese is the best one I've ever had. It was saucy, thick and had a cheesy pull when I scooped it up with my fork. 10/10 Also, I loved the grits! It was so smooth like a rich, creamy rice grits. 10/10 All in all, I really loved the food here. My cousin said this was his go to spot and I'm happy he ordered for us!

I tried the spicy chicken sandwich along with the french fries. The fries were cooked a little too hard for my liking, but the chicken sandwich was pretty good. Parking can be scarce in that area, but I got lucky on the day I went. Seating is limited, but this place does have fast, friendly service. I do recommend giving it a try if you haven't already.

Finally got to try Ali's and I will definitely be back! The prices for how much food and the quality of food is unmatched. The chicken is very flavorful and juicy. You can get a la carte pancakes, waffles and French toast as well. I will definitely be back! Ali's is located within Donut Star.

Best chicken sandwiches by far. This location is in a shared space inside of a donut shop, limited parking, very limited seating, but their staff is friendly and they're super fast.

It's got the decor, chairs, and art to match. Jessica was our server and she was amazing! She gave us lots of suggestions on what to try and what is on the menu since it was my first time here. She recommended the bloody Mary flight so did grab that to try! We also ordered the biscuits and gravy to share and orange juice. The portions are so large! So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! Everything tasted so delicious and was garnished beautifully. Well worth the 22 dollars. Biscuits and Gravy: Absolute perfection of comfort food. The biscuits were so fluffy and well seasoned. The gravy was also soooo good, just like my mom makes. The sausage in it was also cooked so well and juicy. I've never tried mashed potatoes with the biscuits and gravy but it worked very well! Orange Juice: Not a fan really, not pulpy enough and I wasn't a fan of the flavor. Overall this is definitely a must visit! I will definitely be back.

This location is way smaller, but I get it, I can't compare this to Vegas. So the restaurant was small but quaint. It was a nice change to the hustle and bustle of the locations. The customer service was still great and our server took good care of us. My qualm was in the food quality. It just wasn't as well prepared as the other locations I've been to. The food seem to lack seasoning even though I get the same thing every time. I always get a banana brown sugar pancake, the sage fried chicken, and scrambled eggs. It was just so lackluster and I was so disappointed . My husband did enjoy his meal and his coffee (I think it was a French banana latte) was really good. My coffee was meh (I think it was the Indy Giddy Up). I'm not positive I would return to this location but maybe they just had an off day. Also at the time there was a lot of street construction. Parking is tight and you would need to prob pay for parking in the lot across the street if you can't find street parking.

From what I could tell, there was only the bartender, one server, and possibly the manager working the floor. There may have been another employee, but regardless, they handled the rush incredibly well. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and kept things moving despite being clearly understaffed. The place itself is super cute and has a really fun atmosphere. There are TVs everywhere, making it a great spot to catch a game, and they have a nice craft beer selection. What I ordered: * Chimichurri Sliders ($16) - One of their specials. You get two sliders with no fries, so I'm not sure how much of a "special" it really is. They were decent, but nothing memorable or worth going out of your way for. Overall, I'd definitely come back to grab a beer and watch a game because the vibe is great. Food-wise, though, I found it pretty mediocre for the price. Burgers are around $25 with fries, and the appetizers (or "bites") range from $18-$25.. I was still hungry after the sliders and wanted to order a side of fries, but they don't list sides or prices on the menu, so you have no idea what anything costs. I ended up passing because they only offer steak fries, which just aren't my favorite. One big bonus is that they're dog-friendly, which I always appreciate. If you're looking for a fun place to watch sports, enjoy a beer, and hang out with friends, I'd definitely recommend it. Just don't come expecting the food to be the highlight.
