This place is a hole in the wall counter service and lunch buffet place. Inside a gas station. And it's phenomenal. The food is authentic, the biryani is fire, the burritos are so freaking good it's ridiculous. My dad is hard core Mexican and American food only, no Indian food. He loves this place. When he comes to visit for a week we have to go there at least three times and he gets a burrito to go on his way out of town. Same for my boyfriend, and he never turns down a Mom's Spice burrito. We had food delivered from here not too long ago, and I'm already ready to do it again! The food was so delicious, super flavorful and well seasoned, and came nicely packaged. It was still warm after the drive but we heated it up a bit, I like my food hot hot! This food is really wonderful heated up leftover, too. The menu isn't huge, but there are still plenty of options. We ordered chicken tikka masala, beef curry, vegetable biryani, and daal (lentils). All of the rice was so fluffy and flavorful, and the chicken and beef dishes were both rich, creamy, and spicy. The lentils were perfect. I loooove lentils! And Jon enjoyed the naan, of course. Affordable and authentic and all around delicious. Moms Spice is a cool spot attached to a gas station. I almost missed it but I'm so glad I didn't!!! Had the buffet and the food was amazing. Loved the naan bread. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and i am glad she did. It is hard to find a good indian restaurant that is close to where i live because i would have to drive all the way past Arlington to get my fix. First time i went was a Wednesday and got the Wednesday special and it was delicious! I told the cashier guy this was my frist time there and he was extremely nice and helpful. He described each item on the menu and gave me suggestions on what i would like. He even said 'this one may be too spicy for you'' and i was like 'homeboy i am Mexi-can! not Mexi-dont! bring it on! my spicy level tolerance can hold up (and it did but i still needed water haha). Anyhow, he suggested i try the lunch buffet next time i had a chance and trust me i been looking forward to it. I finally crossed that off my list this past Monday! i went to the buffet on a monday around 1.30pm (the buffet ends at 2.30pm). The selection was small but it packed in the spice and delicious taste. It comes with naan bread but FYI this place is BYOB! not to worry tho because the restaurant is inside a gas station so you can have your choice on drinks. They dont have staff that picks up your plates and takes them away you have to do that yourself. Also the plates for the buffet and restaurant are Styrofoam so if you are weird and need real plates or someone to buss your table this may not be the place for you. The buffet had chicken and meat curry (it was hard to know what was what because there was no labels on the line). They had rice, cabbage and cut vegetables on the buffet. Also some kind of dish with beans in it. This restaurant is small and inside a gas station but i would recommend this if you are in the area. It is near Bell helicopter in hurst but dont worry it was not crowded during lunch when i went. The lunch special is around $8 so you cant beat that price for buffet! So when i went to the buffet it was my second overall time going to the restaurant and the cashier recognize me! It was the same guy from last time and i was honestly surprise he remember me because i figure he must see soo many people it must be hard to remember. As we ate our food i realize the cashier chatted with a majority of the customers and a handful of them he said 'i havent seen you in weeks how are you?!' so that to me says he does care about the people going into the restaurant. YOOOO I tried to keep it a secret, but I can't hold my tongue (or feel it) any longer. This place is BANGIN' OK? Anyone who knows me knows that I have an obsession with Indian food. I have been exposed to my South Asian friends' Indian palates in many instances and have continually shared this cuisine to my non-desi friends. Great stuff. Burns your mouth, but it's nbd 'cos you'll build up the tolerance real quick. Mom's Spice holds it down because the deals are INSANE (and they're 100% halal). The buffet days are Mon-Fri until 3pm, $8.65 w tax, and you get complimentary fluffy hot comforting naan (amazing) among other things. But be careful to those who don't mess with the spice factor: IT IS FUEGO. Don't throw a hissy fit when you can't handle the heat. Just don't come here. I mean... There's "spice" in the name, you've been warned, otherwise, just proceed with your necessary personal protective equipment. Plus, a little capsaicin (the component in chili peppers) is actually quite good for your intestinal health, according to the many peer-reviewed articles I'm reading about it atm. But the real magic is on Tuesdays where they hook it up with $3 chicken biryani. If you don't visit now, you are surely going to miss out. I feel like my life didn't begin until I discovered this joint that can throw down some mean biryani. Yes, this is located at a random gas station, and no, you won't need to worry about that. Never judge the appearance of an eatery, guys (at least in this case). My friends gawked at me when I parked and then they thanked me when they got fed. It definitely has a good amount of heat but still so tasty all at the same time. And $2.99 for a box filled to the brim is a price where you will find nowhere else. The food took quite awhile to be sent us but once it was in front of us we couldn't wait to dig in. The bbq chicken was good yet okay but the chicken biryani was very flavorful and spicy. The more we ate the the more we kept having to sniff our noses! The owner went to check on us to see how we liked the food and saw we were almost done with it. I have been going all the way to Irving for Biryani and they only had Mutton and Chicken. They have beef biryani. The Fish and Vegetable are great healthy options that I have not seen. Based on my experience and the poorly executed Chicken Tikka Masala, I won't be back to Mom's Spice. EXPECTATION: Chicken Tikka Masala is tender, melt-in-your mouth chunks of chicken smothered in a rich, golden, velvety sauce. The flavor is warm, fragrant and spiced with just the right amount of heat. It is usually lightly garnished with cilantro which makes for a pretty peesentation (the bright green on top of dazzling gold), and is served with rice and a piece of naan. REALITY(That is, Mom's Spice reality): The sauce was brownish and broken which gave it a grainy mouth feel. The chicken was hard, dry and sparce. Now think about this for a moment - DRY CHICKEN bits doused in a runny sauce. In addition, the entree didn't come with rice and the cashier tersely informed me that naan was "extra," like almost $2 extra. And for that $2, I got a big, hot piece of crusty naan. I got this to go, so maybe that's why. But honestly, if you can imagine waiting about 15 minutes to get your food, driving home to immediately eat it, opening a bag with less than a pint of food that was brownish and had dark flecks of what maybe was cilantro that had been microwaved to achieve the darkish color mixed in a soup of broken sauce with about five or six tiny pieces of dry chicken that you had to sop up with a crusty piece of naan for which altogether you paid about $15, would you go back or recommened that experience to anyone? read more

I love this place. Cheap and delicious. Not fast, though. Definitely not fast. The skeleton crew is typically overworked and can take like 20-30 minutes on average to have it ready. Just call it in and pick up. Only fools/n00bs go in to place their order. And yeah, it's a dive (it's in a gas station, what did you expect?), but they make tandoori chicken to die for. Delicious rice, too. The chicken biryani is bone-in, and there will be large, uncrushed spices to warn you about, so watch your fillings. There also isn't much chicken in the biryani (it's mainly rice), but the flavor is awesome. And I did mention that it was cheap, right? They also have daily specials so on certain days of the week, the biryani is *extra* cheap. The tikka masala is a bit of a disappointment. The flavor is good, but the amount of oil/separation of the sauce can make it rather unappetizing. Just skip it. The best thing, IMHO, is their chicken boti burrito. Yeah. An Indian burrito. I have been craving some good samosas, and I am still looking. My first impression when I drove up was to keep going, except I had already called in my order. I really need to start following my first impressions more. This was inside a rather sketchy gas station. And it kind of smelled when I went in. The place was small and cramped with minimal finish out. My first thought when I took a bite was they need to clean the grease in the fryer. The are pretty generous in the portions and give you a lot more rice than meat, but really, you're not paying a whole lot here.
