This is hands down the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to. This must truly taste exactly how Thai food tastes in Thailand

The group of 19 members from the DHHA group recently dined at Mon Thai in Lakewood. To make it easier for us to taste the dishes, the owner decided to set up a buffet-style eating, where we all can enjoy the 8 dishes the chef prepared for us. These dishes were chicken pad Thai, beef drunken noodles, pork Thai fried rice, chicken pineapple fried rice, vegetable combination stir-fry with tofu, pork pad kra pao stir-fry, chicken curry, and beef red curry. We enjoyed eating all the dishes and sampling these food items. The majority of us voted the chicken pineapple fried rice to be the best dish. To me, the pineapple and the chicken combination tasted very good together, and the fried rice itself was prepared well: flavorful and has a very good taste. The next second best was the pork kra pao stir-fry dish. Two comments on this dish: (1) "it was a good Thai piece of flavor" and (2) the bamboo shoots were really pronounced. Other comments on other dishes include (1) drunken noodle: "a classic dish that they nailed. Taste like what drunken noodles should taste like." and "the flavor was well balanced.", (2) vegetable combination stir-fry with tofu: "really loved the flavor of the eggplant in this dish.", and (3) green curry: "has just the right amount of heat and curry itself had a bright color." Because of the large group, the group decided to split into two separate smaller tables. This way we could talk and have meaningful conversations. It was a lively outing with folks walking up to get seconds. If you are in the neighborhood and want to try some Thai food, stop here and try my two favorite dishes: the chicken pineapple fry rice and the vegetable combination stir-fry with tofu. Also get their Thai iced tea. It was perfectly mixed so that you can taste the tea flavor and not drinking a cup full of sugar. read more

My partner and I have been regularly coming to Mon Thai ever since moving to the Wheat Ridge neighborhood five years ago. We've literally tried ALL of the Thai restaurants in the neighborhood (bar none) and have made Mon Thai our 'go to'. The pad thai is excellent and Min, the owner, has always gone above and beyond to ensure we're happy. He's a really good dude. THIS RESTAURANT IS SO CUTE, AND QUAINT, BUT FULL OF FLAVOR. I stumbled across this gem while in the neighborhood for a quick errand, and my goodness was I surprised. There was just one person there, he was sweet, and there had to be a cook back there. Our food came out extremely fast. The spice level here is not to be messed with. I got to level 3 spice, and I was more than satisfied with the level of spice. There is a warning sign regarding them not being liable and you not being able to get a refund if it is too hot for you. I can respect that. This Thai restaurant is not one to just have your traditional American Pad Thai. This is an authentic, full-flavor, true Thai food restaurant. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't know good food. read more

This place has gotten terrible. Such a disappointment. They totally messed up our to go order with the wrong food- don't even give you a chance to check it because it's all wrapped and then blame you on the phone. The flavor on the food has changed dramatically as well as well as the quantity. Such a disappointment. Nai who was answering the phones has horrible customer service and even hung up on me. New to Colorado and have been craving Pad Thai! I've seen this place on my way home a few times, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered and food came out pretty quickly I got the pad thai a little spicy and it hit the spot! Saucy and flavorful, it was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more menu items. We drove our of our way to try this place based off the reviews. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. It was cheaper than the place closer to us but didn't have the same depth of flavor. It was hot! I chose spice level 2 and probably wouldn't be able to handle more, especially on the larb. The pad thai was fine but again, lacked a depth of flavor and the tofu in it wasn't seared so it was just... there. The red curry beef was fine but the beef was kind of dry and just... fine. My hubby enjoyed the peanut chicken, which I just didn't have room for. Overall, we aren't likely to go back since it's not a convenient location for us. Ate here a month ago because Farmhouse was not open. Had a decent lunch. Tonight Farmhouse was closed so I thought I'd try Mon Thai again. Big mistake. I was served the worst Pad Thai outside of Lubbock, Texas. Swimming in orange sauce. Cabbage? No tofu. No sprouts! Carrot coins!?! Overcooked rubbery chicken cut way too big. It was not just bad - it was gross. I did something I've never done before - I left after three bites. I debated complaining or ordering something else, but the server was in the back. We ordered take out our last night in town. The ordering process and service was fast and efficient. The food was just -- okay. The fried tofu appetizer was battered (which is unusual) and really greasy. Their spice scale is 1-6. This little gem in Lakewood serves really good Thai food! We were in the mood for something hot and soupy and decided to try this new spot out. The menu offers a variety of items, including khaw soy - which is not something you find very often in Thai restaurants in Denver! We were very happy with our orders and left with very full stomachs. The soup bowl was packed with flavor, and the curry had just the perfect spice; the only big difference between this dish and the ones we've had before is the noodle type- we're used having it with egg noodle as opposed to rice noodle. Service was great- it can take a little bit to get your food, but you can tell that the staff works really hard between answering phones, fulfilling online orders, and serving tables. I placed an order over the phone and asked for my drunken noodles to be not spicy because it's for my kids to eat. Instead of making it not spicy, they made it extremely spicy in which I can't even eat it. I tried calling the restaurant back multiple times but no one picked up. I called again and was told the number I dialed had blocked me, now I'm stuck with very spicy noodles no one can even eat, what a waste of money! read more

This restaurant, I make sure that every time I am in Denver I order my Chicken Pad Thai, Panang curry, and crab Rangoon. I will say Chicken Panang is better than the Vegetable. Veggies don't seem to be the same, or it could've been a one off. I've tried many places in Denver and this one has been by far the best! Be careful on the spice levels because whew it can be spicy, but choose the right level. We haven't dined in, it's typically delivery or take out. During take out they have been nice but very busy. This is what I love about Thai food. Here at Mon Thai when you order spicy they deliver. I ordered the pad Thai level 4 out of 6, I got my partner the pad woo sen "medium" spice. Both were perfect for us. If you don't have a spice tolerance please please please save yourself and order no spice or level 1. If you can handle the heat I'd go from 2-5 if you're brave. Amazing! Their balance of flavor is wonderful. I will be returning and recommending to my people. We had the papaya salad, Tom kha, basil fried rice and pad Thai. All delicious. Seriously one of the best Thai food in the metro area. I have been to Thailand numerous times and have Thai friends. I'd call myself a Thai food enthusiast who tries to cook it as often as possible despite the complexity and lack of fresh ingredients here. However glad to have it in my neighborhood. We had pad Thai and green curry on to go before and today we dined in and thoroughly enjoyed Tom Kha, veggie stir fry and pad se we in spicy level 3. Mouths are bursting with favors and spice. Well priced and good portions. Only ate 1/3 of our main dishes after 24oz Tom Kha. Great place ran by real Thai folks from Chang mai. read more

We dined in on a Friday evening with a table of five. Our group had three different apps and several entrees. The service was most excellent and very friendly. Everything that landed on the table was outstanding. The spice level here is high, and the even have warnings on the tables. Heed the warning. I can handle a solid amount of spice, and even a "three"was serious but delicious. I had BBQ pork Raman and it was the best I've had! Chicken dumplings are amazing too. I stopped in on a wintry evening seeking some Thai comfort food. I ordered the Pad Thai. The sauce appeared to be from a watery mix and was unpleasant without much flavor. There may have been 5 pieces of chicken total in the entire dish. The noodles were oddly not sticking together and of varying sizes so it was hard to eat gracefully without dribbling sauce on yourself. Overall, the food experience was pretty poor and I am glad I only ordered one dish. I had considered trying more than one but I will not bother to return. I abandoned the leftovers since it wasn't worth the calories to eat what remained and they were not salvageable unfortunately. The service was somewhat haphazard to nonexistent but not necessarily rude. This is inline to what is culturally acceptable through out parts of Asia. Also note that you are expected to cash out at the register and that there is a bell next to the register to grab the attention of the staff if there isn't anyone up front. I called the restaurant, and without apology yelled at me to request refund through Grubhub and then hung up on me as if I was in the wrong. I won't comment on the food we did receive, other than it was just ok. Needless to say I won't be returning. Got take out here. Really delicious food. The papaya salad was fresh and crunchy with the right amount of acidity. The shrimp pad prik pao had excellent chili flavor and they used real jumbo shrimp. The egg in the dish gave it a good amount of creaminess whoch the sauce clung onto. Excellent flavor all around. Would highly recommend. read more
