I've been here numerous times and have always had a good experience. Today I had a turkey Reuben and a cup of New England clam chowder. The rye bread was perfectly toasted and the sandwich well balanced with turkey, sauerkraut and dressing. The Clam chowder was hot, and delicious. First cold day of the season & this place was packed (duh)! But seems like they were completely unprepared for the rush on soup. I ordered 2 cups of soup & waited ~40 min (not exaggerating). I would have asked to cancel my order & get a refund but they were completely inundated by customers asking about their orders. I finally spoke up after they served my exact order to people that came in after me. They got my soup real snappy after that but the broccoli cheese was ice cold, and the chicken pot pie was not served with pie crust per the description. Kinda mad I was charged an extra $1.25 each for a "premium" soup. Everyone working there was incredibly nice, if not completely frazzled, but the soup was just ok and the wait ridiculous for what I ordered. Nice clean little soup and sandwich take out or eat in. The location is perfect for the local business lunch crowd. Open to 3PM, Darling Crocodile photos. Unfortunately I was met by a waitstaff behind the counter, who might have had a difficult day, she was a bit terse, as I was ordering, given this was the first occasion to visit. I will say, the potato soup was nice and warm, with a small grill Gruyère cheese sandwich, rather on the small side. This is fast food, order to go is best. Given I was hungry at 2PM and Croc does close at 3PM, I slurped up the potato soup, and shared the Gruyère with my Service dog. Price, admittedly was a bit high at $16+ for what I received, YET, one other young lady came out with huge smiles, "I LOVE YOUR DOG!" This was very nice to experience, remember, this place is rather small, 6/ 4 seated table and 5/ 2 seated table and is kept clean!!! Only service dogs are allowed!! It seems like this establishment is slowly failing. My office ordered lunch online. I opened the bag to find the slices of bread they serve with the soup loose in the bag with the napkins and utensils. Nothing was marked and we couldn't tell two of the soups apart. The sandwiches had so much mayo that the ingredients slipped out of the heavy cold bread with every bite. And the tomato soup had a very strange aftertaste that was possibly metallic. They had three people behind the counter and only two small tables filled, so none of this could be blamed on a lunch rush. Too bad, because it's hard to find a good place for soup. read more

I have no idea what's going on with the soups. It used to be so good. I ordered chicken noodle and chicken with rice. The chicken was frozen from a bag and didn't even look like chicken, there is a weird seasoning that smelled bad and my microwave had that smell for days. The broth is like water, so basically it's water, fake chcken, veggies with a weird oniony smelling seaslining. I spent almost $40 dollars for 2 32 oz container. Poo. I went into Croc Soup thinking they had CROC SOUP (even alligator soup) and other Cajun/creole options. It's more like a Panera Bread (with fewer options). We ordered a breakfast burrito and gumbo (seemingly the only Cajun dish). It took about 20 minutes to receive the order without any more than 2 other customers in the place. I was just thinking the other day that I would love to find a good soup place other than Panera. Well this is not it. The chicken pot pie soup was a congealed lump of cold mushy soggy mush. It was so thick I stabbed it with a fork and didn't drip a bit of broth. The pot pie crust is served on the side as rations and it tasted stale. When I brought the bowl up, after on bite, to request a different soup they took the bowl and didn't even ask what was wrong. Then they proceeded to charge me for another bowl. I was a little shocked when they wanted to charge me $9 more when the first order was inedible. I would stay away from this place, service is bad and the food is even worse. Incredible food, incredibly kind staff! Stumbled across this place as it was the only spot open besides fast food while I was waiting for Carmax to open. Just fabulous, and they've got great music taste. I had the potato cheese soup, the tomato basil soup, and the cheesy croc sandwich. All were stellar. Definitely check it out! I love the small soup combo that includes a half of a sandwich. I've had both the Flying Croc and the Cheesy Croc, both grilled on a Vienna Panini, but the delicious smoked turkey and thick bacon inside the Fly Croc is the winner of the two. The soups are always full of flavor and taste similar to what mom would make on those cold winter nights. The potato cheese soup is basically puréed potatoes, potato skins and melted cheese, bursting with potato flavor. The staff here is amazing, they care about the place and its customers, very polite, accommodating and cheerful. This was one huge difference between this place and other sandwich places. I like this place. They have my dream sandwich. It's called the California Croc. You love bacon? You don't want anything to stand between you and bacon? Here is this simple but awesome sandwich filled with crunchy thick cut bacon, romaine lettuce, fresh tomato on a wheat bread. Definitely the bacon here is the star and not just a supporting role it usually plays to let's say a turkey meat. A whole sandwich is $6.39. Half $4.15. I had the half sandwich and broccoli deal. This is the perfect place to eat after hiking Red Rocks in the morning cold with snow on the ground. Croc Soup Company is this unassuming small store within a strip mall. I had no idea they would have such great soup. I got the gumbo (called Croc Soup). It was flavorful and included plenty of andouille sausage and chicken. They add on a scoop of rice which completes the soup. Was it exactly what gumbo tastes like in New Orleans? No, not at all, but it is very tasty and comforting. I also got the Cheesy Croc, which is their grilled cheese panini. There are three cheeses inside and it was also very tasty. I do wish they had kept it in the panini press a few minutes longer, so that the bread became golden brown and the cheese was more melty. They should brush the outside of the sandwich with butter prior to putting it into the press. The best part of a grilled cheese sandwich is actually the little bits of cheese that melt onto the pan and then turn crispy. This is what was missing from the Cheesy Croc. My coworkers all had other soups that were pretty tasty. The tomato basil smelled delicious and the potato cheese was tasty, despite a slightly grainy texture. I also had a sample of the Chicken Rice soup, which is their chicken stock mixed with rice. The chicken broth was simple, yet so flavorful. read more

Located in a small strip mall near Golden. Went in to get some warm soup and sandwich / salad combo as the weather was quite cold for Southern California based folks visiting. Seemed a bit off - service was lacking - almost ignoring. Salty Croc soup but flavor is good. Chicken Tortilla was OK but not much flavor - sort of watery... Sandwich was meh - had better. First time here and overall a pretty solid experience. Went during a Friday at lunch and there was absolutely no staffing problems as other reviews mentioned. I had my food in less then 5 minutes after ordering. The soup samples were a nice touch as well. Overall the sandwich, which really should be called a grill cheese, was okay. Buffalo sauce and blue cheese was a nice touch but it needed a layer of freshness. Romaine lettuce, Tomato, purple onion maybe? To me, what I got was an above average grill cheese with nice crispy bread and some buffalo sauce and sliced chicken. The soup was probably the best part. I was planning on getting the bisque but after trying the gumbo, changed my mind. Overall, I would probably revisit, just not when I am looking to satisfy my sandwich cravings. read more
