Had late night carry out. Small parking lot was packed. Had to circle the block to find parking. Not the end of the world, really. Bartender acknowledged me right away (Awesome!). Food wasn't ready (I was early). Food was out on time, hot and fresh back at the hotel and tasted great. Glad my wife talked me into carryout because the dining area was next to the live music setup. I made the mistake of only going here ONCE during my last trip home. It was close to the hotel, and I was leaving out early the next morning so it was convenient. WHAT A FIND!! Great beer/beverage selection (even scored a free sample when I wasn't sure what to order!). The cheesesteak with onions and mushrooms was amazing - just as good (or better) than the pair of purveyors on Passyunk, and you get to stay indoors, and not get yelled at when you don't know how to order "correctly". This brings me to the service. "Kourtney" was the bomb! Knew the menu, was able to offer suggestions without ordering for us, and again, provided samples of birch beer and their hot wing sauce when my girlfriend didn't know what either were. Don't miss this place, don't be like Steve and only go once! read more

Very nice place I found while traveling on business. We had some time to kill before our flight home to St. Louis, so hopped onto Yelp. This place came up, and caught my eye; my grandmother was a Monahan (no g...but still...) We came in for lunch and a few drinks, sat outside in some beautiful weather. Best hanging out at the airport by a de miles. Food and service were both good, with good local beer on tap. If I ever have a few hours to kill before a flight out of Philly again, would definitely go back! read more

Extremely friendly and very good food (and beer!). The owner, Joe Monaghan, walked up to me (a complete stranger from Kentucky) right after I walked in and welcomed me to his bar and stayed and chatted for a while. Next thing I know I'm given a token by my waitress, Joe has bought the bar a round of drinks, and the place was packed! I had the Shepherds Pie, the small one fortunately because the large would probably have been enough to feed my family, and a couple (maybe three...) Troegs Perpetuals. Everything was great. Food was great! Definitely a hidden gem for bar food. Cheesesteak eggroll was crispy and cheesy... But you'll only get one, which I think was just right as an appetizer. French onion soup was flavorful and delicious. Fish and chips tasted like they were right from Ireland... Yummy batter and very crispy... Will keep this spot in mind for an easy night out. This was one of the only non-chain restaurants near our hotel, and the yelp reviews were good so we decided to check it out for dinner. It's definitely a Cheer's type place. The bar was nearly full of locals when we arrived and no one else at the tables. I had the shepherds pie and it was fantastic. Definitely home made, my only mistake was ordering the large instead of small. The portion was huge and I couldn't finish it all. We split an order of old bay fries, which were yummy. My husband got the cheesesteak and said it was great and our niece was happy with her fried chicken fingers. All in all a great meal and the prices were very reasonable. read more

This place is your typical neighborhood pub but nicer. Great food, extremely cold beer! I enjoyed my time and met Joe the owner, a very nice gentleman. He sat and chatted with me and made me feel like one of the regulars. Very clean, polite service and lots of activity. Happened to catch music night which was enjoyable. Best Philly sandwich I've had in all my travels. We all have those special little places through out our travels we go back to, this will be my Philly "Special" place each time I'm passing through.
