The two stars is only for the food. The food was very reasonably priced and everything tasted great. That said, it was super loud inside, between a live singer and everyone yelling over top of each other. But because it was a nice night we sat outside. We were told a server would be out to take our order. Waited like 15 minutes before we had to go in and ask for someone and ordered drinks. A woman came out with the drinks and seemed more than disinterested in serving us when she was taking our food order - which my one friend ordered a small shepherds pie and she put in a large (they did give it to us for the small price after we took the bill back to the bartender). Someone else brought out our apps like 20 minutes later - for 2 of the 3 of us. Next time we saw someone, like 20 minutes later was with our dinner and my app. We asked for napkins and drink refills and never saw anyone else after that until we went inside to get our bill. The shame is we were planning on having a few drinks, so the bar lost out on that money. My bigger issue was the ignorant patrons. When we first arrived the patio was empty. Within 10 or so minutes a bunch of older guys came out, extremely loud. My group could literally not hear each other they were so loud. It's a bar, whatever. But one of the guys starts yelling to another guy that walked out "WHERE'S THAT HOMO "X?!?!" F'ING QUEER BA&&&&D!!" And it only escalated from there. Basically a good hour of guys yelling gay slurs back and forth at each other. Not to mention that we didn't realize the patio was the smoking section. A bunch of people literally chain smoked the entire time we were there. I'm not usually bothered by cigarette smoke, but it was pretty bad. May order takeout in the future but definitely won't be going back there. read more

After a great gym session with some friends, we decided to grab a bite & watch the Eagle's game (I'm just there for the food). This gem has a patio & T.V.'s outside for your convenience. It was a little rowdy inside due to all the emotions football fans were going through during the game, so we decided to sit outside. My BF & I started with the breaded Chicken Wings & Tater Tots. The wings were delicious. The Tater Tots on the other hand were extremely plain & bland. It tasted like straight up potato with no seasoning. Now on to our entrees; I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Panini with a side of fries. The panini was pretty good. It was definitely filling. The fries were just enough crisp & it paired well with my Panini. My BF ordered the Pulled Pork Panini. He didn't like it very much. The rest of our friends ordered burgers & they all enjoyed it. The service was pretty good. Our server was attentive throughout our meal & the owner even thanked us for coming in. Overall, a great experience based on the service & food. I'll definitely be back! After searching and testing out several places in Philly... I finally found a place that makes an amazing Philly CheeseSteak! Monaghan's you are heaven sent!!! Being a flight attendant we are constantly getting PHL layovers and every time I show up excited to find a good place and every time I have been let down until Now! Having received this as a recommendation from our van driver, I was curious as to what his definition of good was. Although, I had brought my own food and thought I would let my crew members try it out and I would know for next time. It didn't take them long to convince me to go with them after saying I would be missing out and have to hear about how they had the BEST CHEESESTEAK EVER the next morning. (Who can say no to that right?) So off we went! Monaghan's first off is a little like cheers where it seems like everyone there knew each other's names. We could not appear more out of place as we strolled in with our uniforms still on to place our to go order. However we received a warm welcome and the bartender was very helpful while placing our order. While every single one of us got the delicious OLD BAY FRIES and an ORIGINAL CHEESESTEAK, trust me when I say it is worth it to get the spicy peppers instead of sweet, and add a little jalapeño. They are by no means hot, but they add the perfect little kick to the flavor!! All-in-all my meal was AMAZING!!!! I will stop by here every time!! This pub reminded me of the bar in the movie "Invincible" starring Mark Wahlberg as Vince Papale. Monaghan's is a great pub near the Philadelphia Airport that serves up some excellent home made food in a lively atmosphere. One of the guys I sat next to at the bar works there part time, and he told me that the chef is a 70-year old woman who makes everything from scratch! They have a great selection of hearty foods to go along with the standard Philly fare like Pizza and Cheesesteaks. I had the "small" Shepherd's Pie and it was the ideal thing to satisfy my craving for meat & potatoes! It came with two slices of garlic bread to sop up the thick, delicious gravy. The value packed into this $6 dish was unreal! Although I've never had a Cheesesteak here, many people claim that they'd put Monaghan's up against anyone else's in the city! I come to Philly 4 times a year for work, and this is the best restaurant in the Airport area! I was desperate to find a new place to eat in Delco. I checked Yelp and found this place. The entrance is weird. There's no sign on the door to let you know where the entrance is, but thankfully we found it. The staff was really friendly and the bar itself is gorgeous. After reading reviews, I now know that they recently renovated it. Plenty of TV's, lots of seating and even though we didn't take advantage of it, the outside seating area looked pretty nice. Food was on point, though the menu wasn't very substantial - we ordered standard wings, fries and cheesesteaks. I was disappointed in their website though. For a place that put so much time and money into their bar, they should put some effort into their website. read more

This pub lies about three miles out of the way for those staying without a car in the airport interplex. It's worth it if you can get out to Essington, right across from a shiny, clean Wawa. Many enjoy a good smoke or a drink outside in the patio. Inside, it looks like an anonymous local bar you'd find in Smallville anywhere, too, but don't let that fool you. I'm on a red meat avoidance program so I ordered the open faced turkey platter for pickup. One of the servers immediately asked if I was there for takeout and I took my prize home in the relentless summer heat in minutes. The pale lifeless slices of white bread seem at odds with the flavorful gravy and piles of moist turkey breast heaped on top of them. The mashed potatoes are great and I finished my messy meal with much satisfaction knowing I paid less than $10. I hear the Philly cheesesteak at Monaghan's is melt in your mouth goodness, but don't know when I'll be out there again to test that claim. A rare hotel recommendation earning the hype. The tots alone are some of the best I've ever had! Came here for lunch on a lazy Saturday. Yelp reviews made the wife and I choose Monaghan's. The bartender was friendly and everyone else in the place and who came in seemed to be regulars who knew each other's names...Cheers! My chicken cheesesteak was nice but needed more chicken, and the wife's fish and chips were nothing special. The Cokes were always kept filled, and my beer was nice and cold. The tots, though, were to die for at just the right amount of crispness without being overdone. Even the bartender said he forgot they had them and wanted some himself. Credit card machine wasn't working, but they did have an ATM which the bartender told us prior to ordering which was nice in case we were expecting to pay with a card. This Irish bar hit the spot and seems like a place I'd want to come to regularly. $40 including tax and tip. read more

This is a great spot with pleasant service and great bar food. I work near Monaghan's and it's our go to place for a lunch break when we can get out. The owner is super friendly and always thanks us personally for coming in. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. I usually get their pulled pork sliders or their club sandwich or make a meal of their appetizers (the cheesesteak eggrolls and jalapeno poppers are awesome) but last visit, I had a cheeseburger and fries and both were really tasty. Their fries are cooked perfectly and the burger had just the right seasoning and was cooked medium just like I asked. There's a reason why this place gets great reviews - because it's great!
