I have been here as a kid 20 years ago. I just stayed here again in December 2023. Sadly nothing has been kept up. Lights are out everywhere, carpets and rooms are pretty dingy. The final nail in the coffin were bed bugs we found after our first night. We left immediately after. I really hope someone decides to manage this place and make it nice. It's a real shame... Edit: Kelly, if I was a kid at 8 years old, you probably wouldn't see my reservation as a child. Additionally, all the information you have shared is not true. We left that night and did not stay the second night and was not offered another room. I wouldn't take it even if we were offered. Not sure where your information is coming from but you are 0/3. I also do not see how it is appropriate to share my full name and location. Kelly S. PLEASE REMOVE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION. Thanks for the refund but people need to know how poorly your business is being managed. Here are some pics.... anyone with knowledge of bed bugs will be able to answer that question themselves.

This is an older, rustic mountain lodge, located just a few miles from Monarch Pass. We drove right past it the first time, as there doesn't seem to be any signs telling us what it was. It's definitely an old lodge and shows many signs of age, but it still has a great vibe. We got two actual keys for our room, but only one worked. We told the front desk staff and she got another one from the back, which also didn't work! I'm wondering when they'll update to key cards. The room itself was big, had a beautiful view, and was very comfortable. A little coffee maker was there, but no microwave or fridge. I also didn't see a hair dryer. The pool was indoor and heated, so we took advantage of that. There is also a peaceful little lake in the back that we enjoyed. We ate supper in the restaurant. Due to it being slow season, they had a limited menu. I enjoyed my hamburger and the fries were some of the best I've ever had! There was one person working as cook, server, host, bartender, etc, but he did great! Everyone on staff was friendly and we enjoyed our stay. A bonus was seeing some cool wildlife as we left the next morning!

Pros: Cute Stream, Great Staff, Vintage Mountain lodge feel. Cons: No Ac, (or windows, just a door to a public balcony to cool down the room in the summer) limited amenities. Our joint rooms shared a bathroom. This place is OLD and unlike any hotel I have ever stayed in. That being said, if you are wanting something unique and pet friendly as your passing through the mountains, stop by. This place is great for kids! They have an indoor basketball court, racquetball court, indoor pool, and several little sitting areas to hang out in. Just remember, this place is OLD. I am not even sure that all the rooms have a bathroom or a microwave?

Hot tub filled with snow instead of hot water.

Update. Still have not been able to get our voucher. No one is responding. We tried calling and messaging but no one seems to be interested in customer service.

I made the mistake of not reading reviews before booking a stay here. Don't make the same mistake. This place is a DUMP! As soon as you pull into the parking lot you can see that it has not been maintained or updated in decades. The decor is extremely dated, old and worn. The walls of our room were cinder block and the curtains were literally falling off of the rod. I had to use hair clips just to hold them closed at night. Their website is extremely misleading and clearly meant to fool people like us who didn't do more research. It was so bad that we even tried to find somewhere else to stay after our first night, but everything in Salida was booked. Just don't!

    Old and dusty fireplace.

FILTHY DIRTY! The bathroom floor was disgustingly dirty. Loose dirt under the sink and in the corners of the bath. The floor tile and grout were filthy and looked like they hadn't been mopped in a long time. The walls were full of holes and patches. There is paint and popcorn ceiling peeling off the bathroom ceiling. The shower stopper was covered in mold. Only the tops of furniture had been dusted. The nonfunctional fireplace was covered in thick dust. The door does not have a hotel style security latch and has about an inch gap between the door and the floor. Furniture has scratches all over it as it very dated. The bed skirt is dirty and ripped. The curtains don't hang right and are old and worn. We did not eat here because with the cleanliness issues visible in the room there's no telling what the kitchen may be like. It's proximity to the mountain is a plus but, the dirty and worn conditions don't make up for it on my opinion.

Welcome back to the 70's! If you must lay your head here for a night, it is an ok experience. The parking is inadequate. The facility is terribly dated. Adequate lighting is absent. The price is outrageous for the amenities. My recommendation is to drive a bit further down the hill if affordable, nice accommodations are your preference.

    Broken bathroom vent

Pros: Extremely close to monarch mountain ski resort. That's extremely convenient for people who are boarding all day to be able to come back quickly and relax. The staff is friendly. Dogs are allowed. Cons Way Over priced for what you get. Older building of course, but a broken bathroom vent hanging off the ceiling isn't excusable. Room does not have a fridge or microwave. Which is odd and uncommon especially paying $145 a night. I would recommend only if you're planning on boarding two or more days in a row making the convenient proximity of the lodge to the slopes worth it.

If you want your room to be serviced make sure you ask for it because they only service rooms upon demand. The breakfast is passable, but minimal. There will always be some sort of egg, some sort of sausage, and some sort of potato. Along with that the usual bread and bagels to toast, juices, yogurt, cold cereals, waffle maker. Biggest complaints have to do with the room water and heating / Cooling. The water pressure was good, but sometimes he would turn the water on and get scalding water for one minute and then get nothing but lukewarm water the entire rest of your shower. There really was no consistency and even if you did get the temperature just right it would probably change within a minute or two. Ended up taking a lot of warm showers not hot showers. The other issue has to do with the heating and cooling in the rooms. They are still using the kind of old style console Heating and Cooling system, and you have to actually choose whether to heat or cool so if you're in that weird window where sometimes you need to heat up sometimes you need to cool you have to manually do it. And even when you do set it it's very questionable as to whether the thermostat is accurate and whether you'll ever actually achieve the temperature you set.

Lucky for us, Silver Ridge had a two-queen room at a much lower rate. Whizzing by on US 50, it looks like a run of the mill old motel. Nope. Rooms have been renovated. Ours was clean and looked nice inside. What we liked: Full size fridge/freezer Hot tub: It's reserve-in-advance by room in 30 minute blocks. No smelly tweakers, couples making out, or loud kids to kill the buzz (and enough chemicals to kill all germs). Our roomy shower had thick glass doors, preferable to a curtain. The self-operated pancake machine in the breakfast area was a fave of our kiddos, who could watch the pancake on a conveyor belt. Just ok: Breakfast was hit or miss. Biscuits/gravy were my fave. Pancakes did the trick. Coffee was fine. However, my scrambled egg discs were cold and the sausage patty tasted too weird to eat. Fruit, milk, OJ, and standard Continental fare were included, too. Bonus: The recent model smart tv was loaded with apps, but you have to login with your own credentials. People forgot to log out of Disney, Prime, and Netflix. While we have each of these, it's nice to have access if you don't already have them. The Salida Aquatic Center sits across the road if you want some hot spring-fed waters. Overall, Silver Ridge combines nicer-than-expected accommodations at a lower price than nearby chains while maintaining the intimate feel and personal touch of a local business.
