This place is good if you have a dog and kids. Very dog friendly. Could use a lipstick to pretty it up a bit. No wifi or cellphone service but there is an indoor pool, 2 outdoor hot tubs. Game room with pool table and ping pong. So kinda nice in evening to put phone away And enjoy your kids in evening. No mini fridge in the rooms. So Bring a cooler and they do have ice machine. 3.5 stars do to it being old and needing updates. Would stay again if in the area or skiing at Monarch. read more

Great hideaway vacation spot. Our room looked out on a mountain with a little waterfall and creek. There was a gameroom and pool inside and hot tub on the balcony, great star gazing!!! Rooms were comfy, a little dated but clean. If coffee would have been better I would've 5 star rated. read more

Terrible customer service. Booked to stay last month. Called within cancellation time, had a family emergency. This was Dec 12. Reservation was for the 16th-18th of December. Was told by (Andrew) manager no problem to reschedule booking. Would be easier then going through airbbnb. Have called the last 3-4 weeks twice weekly to reschedule. Been told by John front desk he needed to speak to Cathy (manager now I guess) So I spoke to her last week on Tuesday. She said she would call back and of course i Didn't hear back from her. So called again today Feb 1st. Was told by John to call the owner Kelly... oh my what a piece of work She is. Told her what was going on and Andrew left notes in my account. After waiting this long to try to rebook I just wanted to cancel and get a refund do to customer service and jumping through hoops. Her response your Weird and get your money from airbnb and mocking me. Sure it's a bed from the reviews and close to the mountain. But after being treated this way Especially by the owner would much rather stay in Salida at a nicer hotel and drive the 30 minutes or so to the mountain. I was not going to do an online review because I really do want them to succeed, but I tried replying to the email like they asked if I had anything critical to say and both email addresses bounced back - SO, here you go. Hello - I'm not going to do a review on a website because I really do want you to succeed and my review would not help you. 1st - huge mix up when checking in even though I had given the gal both of my reservation papers with the #'s on them. 2nd - when I booked the rooms I was told I would get 2 ski tickets with both rooms. I was counting on 4 tickets. I have a family of 10, I was told at the desk that these rooms didn't come with the stay and ski package. VERY VERY frustrating and disappointing. 3rd - no one ever came to clean our room the next day, our trash cans were full, the beds not made, no fresh towels, etc. I had to place our trash cans outside our room. A nice maintenance guy came by and emptied them for us then. 4th - Rm 322 - doesn't get all the TV channels as the other rooms and no bathroom. We had to go to the next room for that. Just a little weird. 5th - Rm 315 - there is something wrong with the outlets behind the TV, they kept going out and we had to pull the TV out from the wall so we could go back and fiddle with them several times per night. Shame on you for being understaffed and charging the prices you do for what is there. We paid $800 for 2 nights. You cannot charge Bellagio prices without the Bellagio amenities. On a good note, the staff was wonderful [except for getting me my ski passes that were promised at booking] the lodge is clean. My husband and I have had 2 great stays at the Monarch Mountain Lodge. For the price you pay and the proximity to Monarch ski resort, this place can't be beat. Our room was clean and tidy, we had a huge king bed with comfy sheets and a down comforter. The second weekend we stayed here we even got a room facing the mountains that had a shared balcony, which was nice. The hot tub was great (they have a total of 3 hot tubs, 1 was broken but 2 were working). We ate dinner at the restaurant both weekends as well, and it's pretty yummy (chicken wings are good, lots of bottled beer selection, full bar, and our meals were good as well). The walls are a *little* thin, but we just chalked it up to it being an older hotel. The Wi-Fi is extremely spotty but we knew that going in (based on other reviews, and the website itself) and were actually looking forward to unplugging for a bit. This experience went from bad (we ended up not staying) to worse...the manager Kelly Ritz accusing me of lying about what I was told as being the cancellation policy. When we arrived, the place looked like it was being ready to be torn down...cracked paint everywhere, gutters coming off the roof, and an appearance that the place was deserted. It basically looked run-down. The nice young man (Austin) who was at the front desk told me that he had been there 4 days and that "was just informed that he was running the place". Based on the shabby appearance of the outside, I asked if we could see our room before checking in. He happily obliged (we went up the elevator and he went up the stairs??). The room was clean but definitely not what it looked to be online. We decided the room was not for us so let him know we'd like to cancel our reservation. He cancelled it for us, told us there was a $12 fee and that the rest would be returned to us. Because it was a Thursday night, we could find no open rooms in Salida, Buena Vista, or even Fairplay, so we ended up having to drive all the way back home to Denver and it forced us to end our vacation a day early. The problem got worse when we noticed that the original $115.75 charge went through on our credit card. We called the manager (Kelly) who said that because we booked on Booking.com that we had to follow their cancellation policy which didn't allow for refunds on the date of reservation. I tried to explain the situation of what I had been told about only being charged the $12 fee, to which she said she couldn't be responsible for what this person had said. I told her this was not acceptable and she and I began to argue about the situation. She told me to do what I had to do and later said that she could've given me a refund but based on "my attitude" that there was no way she was going to help me. That was funny (and I told her so) as she had told me earlier that she there was nothing she could do for the refund based on my "contract" with Booking.com. She lied and called me a liar in the same sentence...crazy! We stayed at this hotel over 20 years ago and it was a special place, which is why we were looking forward to our visit. As it turns out, it looks more like a crap-hole dive than a ski lodge and if it were $25/night, MAYBE it would be worth "hostle-like" living. But for a resort...give me a break. This place was an absolute nightmare. If you are going to Salida, whatever you do, avoid this place unless you choose to walk in and see the room to make sure you know exactly what you are getting. This place is awesome! We were on our way over the pass when we found ourselves trapped in ice and snow. Managed to make it to the Monarch Lodge praying they accepted pets as we had our 20 pound pug with us. They did thank goodness and the people there went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of, they even replaced the thermostat in our room when it wasn't getting us as warm as we liked. Rooms were nice and clean and large tv with cable, and don't get me started about the view! If we weren't over due in Paonia we would have stayed longer, this place is great. read more

I used to live near the resort many years ago and remembered it fondly, so I took my family there this weekend. With a 4 day trip planned we left after a day and a half. The resort has changed owners several times in the past few years and has suffered badly from an over all lack of maintaining the facility. The stone work is all deteriorating, all the exterior metal is badly rusted, it hasn't been painted in god only knows how long and the location was closed for an extended period of time (only recently reopened) due to contaminated well water! On the upside the staff was VERY kind and gracious and the area is pretty. Suggestion: ignore this dump and get a nice room in Salida. It is only about 20 minutes south. read more

I booked a getaway for a family member as a thank you. My family member woke up feeling ill and we decided that it was in the best interest of the other guests that my family member cancel their trip. I requested a refund and was informed that none would be provided despite there being an illness, and I specified respiratory in nature, reason for cancelling. While this hotel isn't glamorous or posh, it was clean, comfortable and friendly. Beautiful views and great location for a family friendly price. The hotel bar and restaurant offer simple fare but the hamburgers are actually really meaty and delicious. Super convenient shuttle to Monarch ski area. We'll be back. read more

This is by far the most deceiving hotels I have ever looked at online. List of things that have come up for our stay (we got 5 rooms for a group after a hiking trip). 1. WIFI: the WiFi in the hotel is basically only accessible from rooms if you are placed in the center of the lodge. When asked to be moved to a room closer to the WiFi they were unable to accommodate because they said they had no rooms that were clean closet to the center. Also there is no/little cell service at the location. 2. There is NO A/C whatsoever in the building (our stay was the beginning of August and it was quite warm). 3. Building is in serious need of renovation. I'm sure it was nice in the 70s or 80s but it's falling apart now. There were dents in the heating elements. Very rough condition of furniture and general maintenance of the building in general. 4. There is no microwave or fridge in any of the rooms we stayed in. If you would like a fridge they charged a $5 a night fee. 5. Small bathrooms in which only 1 or so of the exhaust fans worked. 6. There is NO complimentary breakfast of any kind (you must pay for your meal in the restaurant). 7. Bed in the room I stayed in was broken and repaired badly with a cheap piece of wire. Table was also broken and repaired with a screw. 8. Probably one of the best finds was the blood that was splattered on the walls of the hallway at various places. Conclusion it that this was probably a nice place years ago but the only good things about it currently are that it is in a fairly nice location in the mountains and the sauna and pool were functioning and acceptably clean (even though we had to figure out how to make the sauna work ourselves because the staff was unable to get it working). If you are looking for a nice place to stay AVOID THIS LOCATION!!! It is not worth the money and hassle for just the location and the pool/sauna. read more

If I could rate it ZERO stars, I would. The owner of this hotel is very brash and not truthful in the way that they charge customers. Beware of the hidden charges that they put on your bill! We actually did not even get a chance to stay here... We were headed thru Colorado and needed a place to stay at short notice and booked directly with the hotel. We made the reservation and were told that it was not refundable, yep, we got it. However, when we looked further into the "amenities" there is "very limited wi-fi" and my husband had to lead a Zoom call the next day. We chose to head to Pueblo instead so we could get wi-fi for that meeting. Having to pay for those 2 nights was not the issue, it was that they did NOT TELL us when we booked that there is a 10% reservation fee that they add to your bill which they did note on the confirmation email AFTER the booking. "Reservation Requirements - We require a 10% booking fee to confirm your reservation." We called the hotel and talked to the owner, who was extremely rude and defensive when asked about their "policy." The crazy part is, is that on the SAME confirmation document, it states "Save up to 15% when booking direct" which we did! However, we were NOT given that discount because the rate we paid was the same one we had found listed on-line, even though we booked directly with the hotel. When we asked why we were charged an additional $23.48, the owner said very tautly "that is our policy, sorry if you don't like it." So, in my estimation, the hotel actually OWES us 5% = they charged us the 10% "booking" fee but we made the reservation direct so should have gotten a 15% discount. At this point, it is certainly not about the money, it is about principle. Also, the owner needs to look into a good customer service training program and implement it. We chose MML because of the proximity to Monarch Mountain. Little did I know that there is NO PUBLIC WIFI anywhere in the lodge. Sure, technically there is a WiFi in the bar, but it has absolutely no signal strength. What hotel these days do not have WiFi in the rooms? This wouldn't have been such a big deal if there was a cell signal at MML. Nothing. If MML wants to be competitive, I would advise management to invest in WiFi routers throughout the building. Right off of Hwy 50, we nearly missed it in the 3am darkness. We didn't have a reservation until the check in at 3pm, but thought we'd pop in and ask for a room to get a few hours sleep. The wonderful lady working the night shift waived the early check in fee and gave us our room keys. Our room was clean and good size, with a lovely comfortable, king size bed. My friend woke up with some kind of bug, and we didn't make it to the slopes. All the hotel staff, from the front desk, wait staff and house keepers were polite and incredibly accommodating, especially with my requests for "comfort food" for my urpy travel partner. This hotel was clean enough for an overnight stay but we were disappointed immediately upon checking in. Shabby drapes with holes, stained ceilings, no Wifi, 1 bar cell service and 3/4 used shampoo puts this hotel at 2 star maximum. Worst was the "shared balcony", just a walkway above the parking lot! French door view was good from the bed. Hardly worth additional cost. We paid 3 star price for 2 star experience. And it's off season. Will not return or recommend. read more

This hotel is one of the worst experiences I ever had had while out of while out of town. The lady working in the restaurant (Tessa) has a very nasty mouth. She was extremely unprofessional. The hotel is very dirty. The Continental breakfast is just stale pastries and warm milk. A burger and fries are a minimum of 15.00. This hotel is way over priced. We got two rooms for 3 nights that came with 4 lift tickets. Our total for our rooms was close to 1200.00. They have no WiFi but in the bar and you can only go in the bar after 5:00 pm. Do not book this lodge outside of ski season, they do not have stuff to check guests in. They will also charge you, even if no one will check you in and you will sleep outside. I booked a room there for my commercial driver for August 11, 2021 through Priceline App and due to circumstances the driver was arriving after hours. The front desk clerks called me twice to confirm when the guest will arrive. In the first phone conversation the clerk mentioned that he is closing the lodge at 11pm and coming back at 6am. In the second conversation I was assured that staff member will be there to meet the guest at any hour at night. The driver arrived at the lodge at 12-50am and did not find anyone there. My dispatcher tried calling the Front Desk multiple times, no one answered. The driver walked around the lodge for over an hour, did not find any signs of staff members and slept in the truck near the lodge. At 6-30am the driver tried to find someone to let him in once again, no result. Booking.com advised me to call the owner of the property in order to get a refund. So I did. I contacted the lady over the phone on August 18,2021. Not only she was exceptionally rude and did not wanted to listed what had happened; but this property owner also has no idea what is going on in her lodge. She started telling me about work schedule of the employees and when I tried to tell her that no one was there she just hung up. I'm extremely disappointed in this lodge and Priceline.com, who did not manage to handle the situation. read more

Unfortunately this hotel was very misleading! Booked on Expedia and of course it wasn't refundable otherwise we would of found a different place. Looks like it was a really nice ski resort back in the late 80's-early 90's and has completely went down hill from then. Upon arrival, the ski storage/front door was leaking water from the roof, parking lot was all sorts of damaged from potholes and there was only 2 cars in lot and ours. There's no WiFi, which is fine but when you need to check in with family like we did, we had to drive back Salida to reach anyone. The lady at the front desk said the only area is by the community microwave located by the ramp. They served breakfast but only if you filled out a piece of paper saying what you wanted and they would bring it up to your room (meaning they aren't going to cook if they don't have to) but obviously when you don't have many customers, it's understandable. None of the amenities were opened as well and basically told that they don't have enough staff to open those things. The only thing that was nice was the bed we had was actually comfortable. But it surely felt like you were in a horror movie with the worn down/in need of desperate renovations read more

The hotel is 100% NOT what is pictured. The pictures they have posted make it look MUCH nicer than it really is. It was such a disappointment. There is a reason all the exterior shots are from weird angles or extremely far away - the outside is falling apart, has chipped and peeling siding, and looks dilapidated from both the front and the back. When we pulled in I thought we had the wrong place all together! Our "Deluxe King Room" was a cinderblock mess with large cracks in the wall, keys that didn't work, inconvenient outlets, broken lamp shades, holes, scuffs, and old picture hanging hardware scattered all over the walls, a bathroom that was full of chipping, crumbling grout, and walls that are not insulated at all - we could hear every word of our neighbors (normal talking volume) conversation and their TV. The adjoining door was also an unexpected feature we would have preferred not to have. We did eat dinner there before we decided to leave, and the food wasn't bad. Our waiter seemed to want to be anywhere but at work (but he was nice to us and had a great sense of humor). The front desk staff was kind and did all they were allowed to do to help us (which was nothing). The manager refused to move us to a different room and when we decided to leave, we asked if we could split the difference and forfeit one night's stay and get a refund for the second. We were refused and personally attacked after we presented valid evidence of why the hotel was unacceptable and how we felt we had been scammed. We ended up leaving within 2 hours of checking in and staying in Buena Vista. Don't book this lodge if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, well-kept, quiet experience. You are paying for the vicinity to the ski resort only. If that's ok with you, then by all means, stay here. This place could be in the movie The Shining! We were evicted from our two rooms on July 14 and 15, 2023 at midnight. The manager is never available and if you want to talk to him day or night, talk to the walkie talkie located at the front desk. We asked for quarters (since their change machine ate several dollar bills) and the manager said, "Come back later". He then called the called cops who had no choice but to escort us off the property. We had 5 grandkids and 4 adults in two separate rooms. The police told us that they had no choice but to evict us because the manager requested it. They were very nice but could do nothing about it. The cops even went to the front desk with my son-in-law to try to resolve the issue or refund our money. The manager would not come out of his room on the premises and refused to talk to anyone over the walkie talkie. We packed up quietly promptly carrying four of our sleeping grandkids to the car and making the oldest child walk sleepily to the car in his pajamas. It was pathetic! There was no availability elsewhere at this late hour. By the way, we talked to the off site manager and she just ranted and raved at us! The place is rundown and there are many things wrong with this place, but we did not complain. We requested a refund for the one night stay but we have not yet seen it on our credit card statement. read more

Yikes... This may only be an option if you drunk after skiing and unable to drive, or held hostage. This is the only time I can see staying here in the future. I don't know where the renovations are?! The rooms are out of date, no closets, only internet on 4th and 5th floors and NO AC. I understand there is growing pains associated with a new business venture but it's outrageous to charge over $100 a night and advertise those things and not make them avail. We were greeted by a hot musty room with no AC. Had to open the windows to even bear being in the room. No usually a problem, but my view was of people eating dinner in the bar. Then you can imagine how restful I slept with a large outdoor flood light piercing into my room until 3am. I was cheerfully awoke by door slamming 2 floors up, and definitely motivated to make my way home. In the future, we will definitely keep driving to Salida or Gunnison and avoid this place until there is MAJOR changes. The staff was very nice, and I did not explore the pool or game room, but for the price it was not acceptable. If you enjoy overpriced and outdated hotels that look like they were featured in a horror flick, this is for you. read more

Not quite ready for prime time. That's how I'd rate this lodge. Under staffed. Under qualified and under impressed. Great location for fun but the operators simply have no experience. The bartender doesn't know how to make a screwdriver. The desk fumbling through an out dated software system netting a key to an occupied room.... The rooms appear clean and tidy. Beds firm. Odd cleaning time when you see the staff (same young folk working everything) cleaning at 4pm on. Closing the door at 6:30 when they came knocking we took the towels and said no to the cleaning... Looking forward to some lodge food: a NY steak, trout etc. the menu will leave you scratching your head. First item on the Entree list: Chicken Fingers. Uggh. If you like deep fried, freezer to fryer...this place is for you. A good 70% of the menu is fried something. Good service was lack luster. (Probably cleaning rooms still) Taking our menus to hand to other tables....two means at a time....some of us offered refills others not... Overall an extended family run affair I believe. I can honestly say this is THE WORST hotel I have stayed at thus far! Here is the short synapses of our stay.... NO A/C, NO WINDOW to help cool room, BUGS ON SINK, water temp for shower not consistent, tub didn't drain, housekeeping knocked at 9:05am when the do not disturb sign was on the door, and really run down looking hotel. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! We should have just slept in our truck and saved us the headache We paid to upgrade to a king room with a balcony and upon arrival we learned it is a shared balcony between you and everyone else on that side of the hotel on that floor, defiantly not what we were expecting. There were wires hanging from the overhang on the balcony and the gutter looked as if it was about to fall off too. The door to the balcony was the only way to get fresh air into the room and there was no air conditioning. I am a hot blooded person and I like it cool when I sleep which meant that we would have to leave the SHARED balcony door open all night to get any cool air in, and let me tell you with the door closed it was hotter than heck in that room even after adjusting the thermostat all the way down. There's no screen on the door so in come all the bugs and whatever else wanted to come into the room, I felt so uncomfortable leaving the door open (because anyone could just come into our room from that balcony) that I would only do it in 30 minute spurts just long enough to cool the room off then shut the door, sleep for maybe 45 minutes then wake up because I was so hot and repeat that all night long. I finally gave up and have a very sleepless night. The next morning I went to shower and at first the water was fine then it went ice cold, I adjusted it some back to the right temperature and continued to shower but in the middle of my shower it went to BOILING HOT and no matter what I did it would not change. I finally had to just use a wash cloth to collect water and basically sponge bath myself ... all the while the standing water in the tub got higher. It was almost overflowing by the time I was done and by the time we left the room it was still full. We did what we could to get the heck out of that place as fast as we could and I am so glad we were only there for one night because if we had book it for longer I would have been down demanding my money back. I will never EVER recommend this place or go back, it's no even worth how cheap it is. Save your money, maybe buy a tent and find a nice spot on the side of the road and sleep there that would be better accommodations than this crap shack of a hotel. read more

We stayed here because of proximity to Monarch Mountain. Only perk. Salida (20 minutes away) has got to be a better option. The lodge is super outdated. I don't see any signs that money has been put into the place in decades. There could be a ton of potential. There is little to no cell signal and WiFi only hardly works near bar. The heat in the room was stuck at a boiling temperature. Only way to cool the room was by sleeping with the window open.. which the screen was randomly out and against the dresser. Window visibly cracked, curtains poorly attached. No attention to detail at this place, very large motel vibe. Walls are thin, you feel like you have no privacy and can hear everything. The elevator does a jerk almost every time you ride. Restaurant is slow service, the mozzarella sticks were over cooked and all cheese was out of shell. For the price and proximity to Monarch Ski Area, I think I will be back. (I think). The good: It is only a few miles down the road and quite easily accessible. The mediocre: The dining area was just okay. The pizza was good but nothing special. There are no beers on tap, so only bottles. The furnishings are pretty dated, as is the gym and rec area. The bad: The locks on the room doors are extremely flimsy and don't inspire confidence. The front staff was not very organized and got our room wrong, asking us if what we paid for was important to us in a room. Hmm... of course, that's why we (upgraded) and paid more for it. In general, these things don't bother me, since the main purpose it to be close to the slopes. If you want to do more stuff in Poncha Springs or Salida, then maybe staying over there might make more sense. The drive isn't terribly far, so I might look for another option next time. It is no spa, but better than a motel. 4 stars because it met/exceeded expectations for the price paid. read more

Monarch Mountain Lodge was a perfect stop over and half-way point to Ouray for an ice climbing weekend. When I called the hotel directly to see if they price-matched, they gladly obliged ($54/night for king). After staying a second time this last week, I found out they have new owners as of this past year and are really sprucing up the place. This rustic ski lodge is found minutes from the Monarch ski area (we didn't ski this trip). The staff were friendly and very courteous. Don't let "rustic" steer you away! The rooms are updated and very clean! In fact, I was surprised how neat and tidy everything was. The room size are very generous...plenty of room to repack all our climbing gear for the weekend ahead. They even have an indoor pool and 2 outdoor hot tubs! Near the pool, they also have a game room with foosball and a few other things. This place is truly a gem. A perfect place for a family ski trip or a couples weekend getaway! We really enjoyed our stays and plan on returning again. In regards to the internet in the previous review - yes it is a little spotty. This is something they could improve upon. However, good grief...do we always need internet everywhere every second of our lives? It's good to disconnect every once in a while! We enjoyed our stay. read more

Check-in started poorly. We arrived in the morning to ski and knew check-in time was 3pm, but wanted to buy some discounted lift tickets for the day. There was a sign at the front desk that said to call a room number for any help needed. Even though it was after 9 am, the person who answered was very groggy and didn't want to come down to the desk to help. We had to call twice to get him to come down, and when he did, he seemed high. Later, after skiing, we checked in and the girl in the afternoon was really nice and helpful. The rooms are obviously outdated and have an outdated heating system. It got very hot at night (84 degrees when set at 72) and then too cold when we turned down the thermostat slightly. The beds are comfortable. Upon checkout, the prices were not what we had been offered on the phone, nothing was itemized (lift tickets, rooms, etc.) and they had forgotten to add a military discount that had been promised. When we got home and saw the incorrect charges on our credit card, we called to get the changes made. The same guy from the first morning answered the phone. He didn't like the fact that we were questioning the charges. He said the girl who told us they would adjust the rate was too new and he wouldn't honor that and even though my husband never raised his voice to the guy at all, he said that he wouldn't even give us the military discount because he was "being mean" to him. read more

The views were amazing. The rooms are outdated, our room 321 none of the appliances work, and they didn't have any replacement. The sauna didn't work, the hot tub were only 95 degrees. The restaurant was closed due to staffing. The staff did the best they could do. February 17, 2022. read more

My wife and I came up for our 5 year anniversary. We were hoping for a nice weekend away from home. Check in time was supposed to be at 3pm. We got there around 515 pm, and we're told our room was not ready. When we asked how long it would be before it was ready, the response was "I dont know, but if you wait I will come find you." There was no sort of an apology at all. I only saw one person cleaning the entire time we were there. I felt bad for him because he was cleaning rooms at 1100 pm and when we woke up at 7am he was back at it already. There was also 2 ladies behind the counter, and a line of people waiting to be checked in. The 2 ladies would only help one person at a time, and they would alternate. Also one of the ladies did have to go back and forth to help people that were on the store side. When we got to the room, it was a nice room with a nice bed. The balcony was basically a walk way. Joined with every one else, and it had chunks taken out of it. The Internet did not work at all on the second floor. Also the rooms were very loud. You could here doors closing from the rooms two floors up. Also the parking was not very good at all. Overall we were not very impressed with this hotel. With some work maybe some more staff, this place can be great. read more

Pretty pricey for what you get. However, it was clean and the people were nice so it served its purpose. The bed wasn't that comfortable and the walls were thin. I didn't get the best sleep but that could also be because I went to bed late... Also the elevator was really slow. read more

We booked a room for a night but when we got there we said " no way". The person at the desk said "No problem, I'm happy to cancel your reservation". It has a great ski lodge vibe all around. There is a great view of the mountains when you go to eat at the restaurant that has windows all around. The breakfast is amazing (especially the French Toast!). The dinner is amazing as well. The rooms are nice and clean. They have Direct Tv with lots of channels and it works well. It is located in a nice place, close to town but also deep enough in the mountains to really connect with nature. They also have free Red Bull to take with you on any adventures you have planned for they day. Inside they have a pool, arcade, pool table, sauna, and a hot tub outside. You cannot beat the location and the service at this quaint mountain hotel. Rooms are simple and clean and the beds are comfy. You'd be hard pressed to find friendlier service. The hotel staff goes out of their way to accommodate. The biggest bonus was the restaurant and bar. The menu isn't extensive but the food is top notch. Truly the best French Toast we've ever had. The restaurant overlooks the mountain and the multiple feeders attract more hummingbirds than we've ever seen. Stop by and visit Carl & Vanessa in the restaurant. This was a great retreat, away from the hustle and bustle you get in town. From the balcony you get an amazing view of the mountains, sounds of the river rushing past and the lovely smell of the wilderness. Unfortunately you don't get the luxury of having WiFi in your room and very little to no WiFi at the bar but you know what, when you are on a family vacation you should shut down your devices and spend some quality time with your family. We stayed in one of the two bedroom suites, 1 king bed with a crib for our grandson in one room and 2 queen beds in the other room. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were quiet. My only complaint and the reason I gave 4 stars was because we had to share 1 bathroom and a very small sink with very little counter space. We will definitely return here for future vacations. Thanks to the wonderful and friendly staff and I almost forgot, the Father's day hot breakfast was great, very tasty biscuits and gravy along with scrambled eggs bacon and hash browns. read more

I would have given it half a star if there was the opportunity. My husband and I went with two other couples. We got two rooms with double beds and our rooms were separated by a "door" which really were 2 doors (one for each room) and were covered in carpet--as noise repellent I guess. We were freezing in our rooms and after cranking up the thermostat to full blast, the darn thing never turned on in either room. We were in the first floor (basement really) and called the front desk to a really non-helping rep. She just kept telling me to turn it up all the way and to wait another 30 minutes. After an hour of freezing, my husband and I decided to go exploring. There is a gym with equipment from about the 70s. The pool is alright (didn't get in) and there's a game room with some broken arcade games, a coin-operated air hockey table, and a ping pong table that we took advantage of for an hour with a broken leg. Also in the game room, is a random set of stairs that just lead to a wall. Our room was finely decorated in 1970's Las Vegas motel style. Pastel bed spread, beige walls, a rather small bathroom with only a shower/tub and toilet and once you walk outside (to the rest of your room); there's the sink next to your room door. The tv is an old tube from about the 80's with a small remote. You definitely get what you pay for and although the place doesn't look like a nice hotel, the bed is rather comfy, the halls and outside quiet, and there is hot water. As for the customer service, it's horrible. read more
