Jack came to the house timely and addressed our concern by replacing a toilet instead of uncloging it. I've used Monarch in the past and had a great experience with Eli. However, with Jack, I may NOT use them in the future. Instead of unplugging the toilet, Jack charged me $575 to replace a the toilet. A stopped‑up toilet almost never means you need a new toilet. You almost always fix the clog, not replace the fixture. A clog is a drain problem, not a toilet problem. Replacing the toilet won't solve the underlying blockage and is almost never necessary. What usually fixes a stopped‑up toilet: Plunger clearing -- A good flange plunger solves 80-90% of clogs. In short, I called to clear a plumbing issue, which was never cleared, instead Jack requested that we purchase a new toilet. To me good reliable plumber is one that can clear a clogged pipe. Not one who charges $575 for a new Glasierbay toilet from Home Depot. read more

Monarch did an outstanding job determining the root cause of our sewer problem at our Church. Two other plumber companies provided quotes but it turns out they completely missed the root cause of the problem. When I told Eli at Monarch we had toilets overflowing he said he needed to remove the toilet and run his sewer camera down the line and he found a clog in a section of the sewer that the other plumbers didn't inspect. Their bids involved work that wouldn't have fixed the root cause. Monarch did the job in one day. They dug down about 4', found the clog of densly packed roots and some poorly installed sewer plumbing from 20+ yrs ago, replaced it all, and added a bi-directional clean out so we will never have this problem again. Futhermore, the Monarch bid was less expensive than the other two bids which wouldn't have solved the problem; they would have added more cost to the job and probably would have had to return in a week or two because the toilets would have overflowed again. Monarch is very professional. Their 3-man crew led by Rene finished this job in about 6.5 hours and routed the replacement pipe so there were no 90deg bends to trap a clog in the future. Met with Jack same day when our main water line broke yesterday (it was already kind of late), he took a quick look and at the visible areas/pipe/connection then, then he and Jesus were able to make it first thing in the morning to start digging and start on the fix. Then we saw the tree nearby had reached far underground and was pressing up against our pipe and the irrigation pipe. We live in an older home in Hayward that is built on a slab with no crawl space which means plumbing issues are a bigger headache (and more costly) than a home with a crawl space. Our hallway bathroom had a clogged and cracked P-trap along with a very slow draining bathtub. I messaged Monarch Plumbing and received a response within 30 minutes. I told them my availability for a consultation and they were able to accommodate with no issues. Jack was the service advisor that came out to meet with me and check the issues that we outlined. He explained the various options that were available to fix the problems and sent an estimate that outlined the various work that they could do as well as combining multiple repairs with the sink and installing a garbage disposal that I wanted replaced. After selecting the scope of work option and letting Jack know his team came out the next day to start working. When his team came out they smelled gas outside of our house and Jack immediately called me. I called PGE and they came out to check the situation and found a gas line had a leak on the side of the house where a tree had been recently removed. Jack and his team (Jack, Jose, Manuel, Hector, and Jose) were quick and professional with all plumbing issues and did fantastic work. They then also sent me an estimate for the repair/replacement of the gas line which they also repaired.
