Stopped by last night to get a tattoo while on vacation and they got us right in and drew out exactly what we wanted! Definitely worth going back on our next trip!

This shop is absolutely amazing. Mikey and his wife are the real deal. He stayed open past his closing time on a Sunday to hook up my wife and I with a tattoo on the last day of our vacation. If and when we are back in the area we will absolutely stop by and see Mikey again. One of the best tattoo shops I've been in (and I've been in a few).

Had the best experience at Monarch! (Looked online like everyone else) Made my appointment about a month before my vacation. Called when I got to the island to confirm and spoke with Mikey, the artist doing my piece, my confidence increased hearing his chill vibe on the phone. Upon arrival I was greeted by the shop pup Shaba! Mikey had my art drafted and it was perfect! Our conversation was calm yet insightful, an all around great experience was had! I now have my Honu ....and a reason to return to Hauula! Mahalo Mikey and crew y'all were amazing.

Amazing work done by Laura at Monarch Tattoo! Absolutely LOVE the new art. Appreciate her time, focus, dedication and detail. The shop is clean, everyone is friendly and I felt so welcomed and comfortable throughout the process. Definitely coming back for more work in the future! Go check them out!!

I did a good amount of research before coming to the islands for vacation/work. I have been wanting this tattoo for at least 5 years, and Mike's talent is unmatched. His patience, creativity, and ability to communicate thru ink is impeccable. His ability to add dimension to the tattoo and bring to live the vision of this work is incredible. I will be back and would send any family member/friend to Monarch Tattoo. Mahalo Mike, Laura, and Aika for your hospitality.

Was on the island for only a few days and decided last minute to try and get a tattoo. Requested an appointment through the website and fortunately Mike was able take me. I can not be happier with the work I had done. Mike is a true artist. He puts thought into his work and takes his time. The shop is clean and they took all safety precautions. Can't wait to come back to the island and get another one from Mine.

Could not be more happy. Wife and kids came to celebrate our 15yr wedding anniversary. With only a couple days left we noticed a tattoo shop next to where we were staying. Took a shot and messaged them to see if there were any openings. Mike immediately contacted me and said they were unfortunately booked and offered an alternate date but we'd be gone by then. He messaged shortly after and said he could see me same day. Needless to say I took it. Super professional and friendly. This tattoo holds special meaning to me and represents so much. Thank you Mike for making our trip even more special.

Mikey did my tattoo today and I couldn't be happier with the turnout! This tattoo is so sentimental for me and he really listened as I changed my tattoo idea the day of. The shop is so clean and even though there's COVID everything was heavily sterilized and masks were used by all in the shop. No guests are allowed at this time. I can't wait to come back and get my next piece by him! Highly recommend to come here for your tattoo!

I began investigating in tattoo studios a few weeks before arriving on the island. Initially I corresponded with Aaron (believe he is co-owner) regarding my desire to get a Polynesian tattoo but unfortunately he wasn't going to be able to do my tattoo. He quickly put me in contact with Rick Coito who is also at the studio and boy am I glad he did. Rick did an amazing job. He took his time with my tattoo and the detail he put into the tattoo was simply brilliant. If you are coming to Oahu for work or pleasure and are thinking of getting in the chair for some ink, make sure it's Rick's. You will be glad you did. Thanks for the awesome work Rick. rickcoito.com Rkcoito.tattoos.com@gmail.com

I knew that my tattoo would be a chrysanthemum, but nothing more than that. My tattoo took 3 appointments, but I appreciated that it was broken down this way. The first appointment I had was to consult with Jimmy about what I wanted. I explained that my tattoo was a memorial for my mom who had passed away. It was to be a chrysanthemum because it was our shared birth flower and a favorite of my moms. Jimmy asked about colors and I mentioned I wanted to encorporate green because it was mom's favorite color. He showed me several images of chrysanthemums and explained their significance in Japanese art and tattoo culture. Knowing how well the flower matched my reasons for getting it, I was confident I had chosen the perfect artist for my piece. My second appointment was for the outline. I appreciated that Jimmy took the time to explain the process to me and made sure I knew what was going on as he worked on my. He checked in to be sure I was comfortable (as comfortable as you can be getting a tattoo). I left with a beautiful outline in a relatively short amount of time. My last appointment was for color, shading and completion. Jimmy showed me the colors he had chosen based on our initial consultation and again talked me through the process. I am beside myself with the beauty of the piece I am now wearing. I highly reccomend Jimmy Mack Tattoo to anyone looking for quality work created by an artist.

My ladies with thinning hair, bald spots, widening parts...y'all need to see my girl Kristine!…read more As I hit perimenopause, I noticed my scalp taking on the appearance of my aunties on my dad's side...increased thinning hair, ponytail was more like pony strands ugh. I already had thin hair due to medication, so this was not gonna get better. I did not want to take expensive supplements or apply topicals. Short of traveling to Turkey and getting transplants, scalp micropigmentation (SMP) was starting to look feasible. Yelp and Google shows me LOTS of places cater to men. Just so happens I was getting my hair colored at Hi Lites salon, lamenting about my scalp, when Abbie (who gives a fabulous shampoo BTW) told me about 1 Point, so I booked a consult with Kristine. Kristine is a LOOOOOOVE. She's hella good at her craft, and super patient. My sessions were stretched out a few hours at a time because I could not sit still, and life happens. Plus, unlike men who basically have a blank canvas, I still have hair that she had to work around. When she's applying ink, know that different areas will trigger a range of sensations...tickle, pressure, pinprick. I usually end up falling asleep haha Check out their IG 1PointScalpMicro for real results!

The process itself was super fast ! My brows were done in like 2-3 minutes and my shoulder was done in 5 ! Not gonna lie, it's very true when they say a tattoo removal hurts a lot more than the tattoo itself but Kristine made me so comfortable , it's worth it PLUS the pain is only bad for a couple minutes ! Attached is a pic she sent me of my brows before and immediately after . We yapped a lot so we didn't take pics of my shoulder before LOL ! I can't wait for my other sessions !

"I'm wearing short sleeves, I don't want to expose my tattoos."…read more-Jerry Seinfeld Well now I DO wanna wear short sleeves to let my new honu peek out a bit! Been wanting to get a honu ink'd to remind me of where I came from... where home really is. Everytime I go back, I run out of time or just didn't want to give up the beach day. This time the whole fam was IN... when I explained my design concept, both my wife and daughter wanted their own version, still honu themed. da Scene: Determined to get this done done during the 16 day visit back home on Oahu, I did my research early and narrowed it down to 3 spots initially. After some dm's, email exchanges and finally some voice calls, it was Lai @ Tattoo Hawaii who I connected with most, so we scheduled an in-person consult and then our sessions, with 2 days left on our trip - only lost 1 beach day (it was a perfect one too). da Service: Every contact before our session was courteous and replied to promptly. I did have to be insistent on Lai doing our work, even if it meant spanning multiple days. His work on social media and Yelp! most connected with me. At our consult he explained how he would approach my design concept and adapt it to my wife and daughter. Lai was confident he could get us all done in one afternoon/evening session. The shop is tucked away on the 2nd floor of a little building on the corner of Kapiolani and Piikoi... parking is a challenge, so arrive early to wait out a spot. The shop is comfortable and can accommodate 3-4 artists working, with friends looking on in support. da Work: Kai was up 1st as hers would be the least complicated. She went with 3 petroglyph style honu, each about 3.5" diameter, ink'd fairly heavy - vertically on her upper arm, pretty classic design. She has several tattoos already and was surprised that Lai didn't work with a stencil... he simply free-handed the design with several pens, directly on your body. He's a very cool, confident cat, laid back and within minutes has you chatting it up like you went to high school together. I went next as my wife wanted to see how mine's worked out to help solidify her concept. Lai drew a honu/dragon/shark tooth design on my upper arm and I said "go for it". 2.5 hours later I was stunned at the fine details he added to the shark's teeth encircling the honu shell, as well as tribal accents in the honu, while incorporating the dragon profile. It really was satisfying to see my concept executed closely, while adding style and depth, bringing it to life. Carla was last up and really wanted to stick close to what I had done... just smaller and wanted the dragon to "pop" more. As you can see, Lai nailed it... however subtle, the dragon does appear more prominent on her piece. da Wrap: Really happy all-around, already thinking about how to add to it, maybe add color, grow it further down my arm, how to add to the story. It's a very personal thing and I really suggest you take your time to research and find the right artist. I'm confident that you'll find the right one at Tattoo Hawaii. We were there most of the day and saw several folks and artists' work, there was actually one guy there the whole time getting a large whole body piece worked on with a manual tattoo tool, that's an investment! HUGE shout out to Lai for making our sessions so enjoyable and comfortable... When he found out it was my and my wife's 1st work, he said he was honored to be 1st... such a humble guy, great disposition. We'll see you soon brother!
