I knew that my tattoo would be a chrysanthemum, but nothing more than that. My tattoo took 3 appointments, but I appreciated that it was broken down this way. The first appointment I had was to consult with Jimmy about what I wanted. I explained that my tattoo was a memorial for my mom who had passed away. It was to be a chrysanthemum because it was our shared birth flower and a favorite of my moms. Jimmy asked about colors and I mentioned I wanted to encorporate green because it was mom's favorite color. He showed me several images of chrysanthemums and explained their significance in Japanese art and tattoo culture. Knowing how well the flower matched my reasons for getting it, I was confident I had chosen the perfect artist for my piece. My second appointment was for the outline. I appreciated that Jimmy took the time to explain the process to me and made sure I knew what was going on as he worked on my. He checked in to be sure I was comfortable (as comfortable as you can be getting a tattoo). I left with a beautiful outline in a relatively short amount of time. My last appointment was for color, shading and completion. Jimmy showed me the colors he had chosen based on our initial consultation and again talked me through the process. So, I decided to try laser tattoo removal. While randomly browsing on Groupon, I came across a deal from Freedom Laser Hair & Tattoo Removal. The reviews, both on Groupon and online, were really positive, so I went ahead and bought the deal for $45 (small area). I had to pay an extra $10 groupon booking fee, but the price itself was so affordable I didn't mind. At my appointment, the technician Emily mentioned I could purchase directly from her in the future, and she'd still honor the Groupon price, which was super kind of her. If you're interested, check if the deal is still available online. The Groupon covers small, medium, and large tattoo removal areas. For my next session, I'll be booking directly through her. This was my first experience with any type of tattoo removal, and I'll admit I was a bit nervous. I'd heard it can be more painful than getting a tattoo. Emily doesn't use numbing cream, but she has a cold air machine that blows over the area while the laser works. It helped a lot, less of a shock than I expected. Since the area was small, I was in and out in about 15 minutes. In terms of pain, I'd say it felt pretty similar to getting the original tattoo. If you've had your brows tattoo and touched up, you know what I mean. (The pain isn't the best) Even after just one session, I noticed a big difference. The pigment lifted way more than I thought it would. I'll probably need one more session since I've had multiple tattoo applications over the years, but I'm already really happy with the results. Huge thank you to Emily--she was amazing! Her online system is super efficient. It sends reminders, outlines policies and procedures, and includes everything you need to know before, during, and after your appointment. She's professional, thorough, and kind. I had an initial call with Erika before I signed the contract and shared the concerns I had with my skin and hair to get recommendations. Leading up to the wedding day, they have an online platform to fill out details like the type of skin you have, hair type, and an option to include inspo photos for hair and makeup. They were always quick to respond via email and I thoroughly enjoyed my interaction leading up to the wedding. I requested 3 hair and makeup, 1 bride hair and makeup + trial session, and groom pampering. The services were expected to be completed between 9-12:30 pm. I had my hair and make up trial a few days before my wedding with Erika and it was a wonderful experience. I timed my trial and it took 1.5 hrs to do makeup then hair. I shared some changes I wanted for the wedding day after the fact via email and reminded them of the changes and feedback I shared during the wedding day. Fast forward to the wedding day. We drove over an hour with traffic to the venue, on my way there and received a call and text from Erika informing me that her hair stylist was running late. This is understandable, we are human and traffic is unpredictable so okay that's fine. They were expected to be set up at 8:45 am, with us arriving at 9 am. We all arrived at 9 am ready to go and make up started. However, hair was delayed and I could tell that they were getting stressed with the time. There were some comments made while I was getting ready that didn't sit right with me and I brushed it off at the time. After having a really good vibe during the trial, the wedding day felt off. I was also disappointed neither me nor my bridal party were informed they were leaving before doing touch ups and putting my veil in. I ran back after photos and they were gone :( After the fact, someone from my bridal party mentioned to me how they said they wished they spent more time on me and how they just ran out of time. They're definitely great at what they do and have tons of experience in the bridal industry. I think and hope I had an isolated experience. I shared my grievances with Erika after the wedding and appreciated her response and understanding.
