This is one of my favorite spots! Always great food and I love the variety of veggies and sauces they have to add to your stir fry. I've been coming here for 10 years now and they don't disappoint. I been coming here for 25 years. Moved to San Diego about 8 years ago and it's still my favorite Mongolian place to this day, I try to go whenever I'm in town. Staff is fast and friendly. Prices are reasonable especially lunch. You get all you can eat and a lot more for dinner though. Quality of the food is what keeps me coming back. I saw some reviews complain about pricing confusion but I don't see how, the prices are posted as soon as you walk in on a big board and also there are signs throughout the place explaining prices and "rules". You serve yourself so it's good portions. Also, you flavor and prep it yourself so if you don't like it, not really their fault bc the ingredients are always fresh and good. Been coming here for over 20 yrs for lunchtime. I ask for the shrimp instead of the meat choices they have. Found out I enjoy it a lot & its very tasty. They also have square sesame seed biscuits (addt'l cost) but delicious. The ladies are always friendly and have a huge fish tank behind the cash counter. Me and my family have been coming to Mongolian fresh for YEARS!!! Since I was a little girl, this place is the absolute best. They have a huge selection of veggie to fix up your plate with. Remember the trick to Mongolian is to PACK all ur veggies andmeat and add lots of the BBQ liquid because when they cook it, it shrinks down tremendously. Fixing my plate is like an art form to me; all flat veggies first, spread them on like a thin layer, use the broccoli around the edge of the bowl to expand the circumstanceof the bowl and then top it off with the noodles so it weighs down the food and keeps it in place. BAM! You got the most delicious plate of Mongolian BBQ. Like I said, it's an art form. However I'm giving this place a 3 because of the place itself. They could do a better job cleaning up the joint, wiping down the buffet and definitely cleaning the bathroom. The service is not the best either, the waitresses are not the friendliest either.They literally set up ur table with your complimentary rice, egg roll and hot tea and you never seen them again until your bill arrives. It can take forever to flag someone down. I obviously go for the food, so if that's all you care about then you gotta try this place out. We will never go there again. Not only is it overpriced they will charge you another 54¢ for a "to go" container. We were charged over $61.00 for 3 bowls and 2 sodas!! We were never given any menus so we didn't even know what we were going to be charged. We expected to pay for what we get, but we never saw it coming. I left the Inland Empire years ago and I still think about Mongolian BBQ. I have never found a Mongolian BBQ comparable anywhere I have lived . . . from Orange County, to Portland, OR, to Honolulu, a city with excellent Asian options. It's in a sketchy neighborhood, it never quite feels clean, but OMG the food and the prices are like nothing else. There are more options than any other Mongolian BBQ place I have been. This is especially useful for vegetarians. They have amazing vegetables and tofu. Other places typically have onions and bell pepper, with focus on the meat. Of course, there are excellent meat options, too. Dinner is all you can eat, with tea, rice, a sesame biscuit and egg roll included. It's also great for kids. Kids meals are cheap and very , very healthy. I hope it never goes away! read more

Food was mediocre. I enjoy Khan's 100x better. The reason I am posting this review is to simply advise others to avoid this place, at all cost. We saw a huge dead cockroach under our table as we were leaving. I explained to the woman who checked us out that the cockroach was visible and may want to send someone to clean. She advised that they "sprayed" last night which is why it was dead. I am sorry, but if a carpeted restaurant is being sprayed-you are exposing your customers and potentially any food that is out to harmful chemicals. First and last time I come here. The two old Asian sisters or whatever they are attending the cashier and serving are horrendous at fulfilling customer satisfaction. Instead of being attentive to what their customers need, they stand back and with a vigilant eye observe the amount of servings a customer takes. Hence, they have multiple signs that read "Eat all you want but do not share." I came here alone during a week day afternoon and after my second serving, one of those ladies brought me my check. I was about to say "Excuse me . . . here . . . take, I'll let you know when I'm ready." This only made me feel rushed and was unable to enjoy my dinner. In addition, they have only ONE young beautiful waitress who is actually keenly aware of all the restaurants customers' requests. I saw her walking swiftly from corner to corner of the room trying to bring additional tea, water, and rice while the other two Asian ladies only stood back to see what customer had stood up to collect their tips including mine ! Also, at one point, the young beautiful waitress had brought me more tea. Minutes later, an elderly couple sitting near my vicinity had asked one of the Asian sisters if they could have more tea as well. As a reply she said, "Sorry we don't have any more tea." I felt very disturbed at that point and as the owner walked from the kitchen to the cashier, I asked him to cash me out so that I could leave. read more

Me and my family have been going here for years and never had any issues until today. They made a new rule that you can't share your food. The Jasmine rice has been replaced with instant box rice, the egg rolls are no longer tasting as if they're hand rolled anymore, and the main entrees are not even cooked enough leaving your harder veggies (broccoli, bell peppers, etc) still hard. Mongolian Fresh had always been called Mongolian BBQ for as long as I can remember. The sign and menu do not reflect the"fresh" addition, but I guess it really doesn't matter. I have been coming here since 1995 when they were originally located further down Highland Ave. The current location is larger but in a worse neighborhood. I have a love hate relationship with this place. The location is poor with transients in the parking lot. There is a recycle center to the left of Mongolian BBQ and many of the recycle patrons hang out in the parking area. As a single woman , it doesn't feel super safe. The posted food grade is sometimes a "C". I often see food handling violations such as adding fresh food to the old food on the salad bar. Cross food contamination is also an issue. The service flat out stinks. Many of the employees do not speak English or pretend not to understand. I've often ordered items that never come or have to ask for extra sweet and sour sauce three times before I actually get it. There are no free refills on fountain drinks. The restroom is always crazy dirty , I avoid them like the plague. Lunch special is just one bowl with a set amount of meat. Dinner is all you can eat with soup, egg roll , rice , and you can pick the amount of meat you want in your bowl. There is a good selection of meats (pork, beef, lamb, turkey , tofu) and a variety of usually fresh vegetables. The weird thing about all this is.... Even with all the negatives , I don't care and eat here anyway. Lunch and dinner are dirt cheap. If you don't get fountain drinks or anything extra, you can feed a family of three for about $20. Even with the food handling violations , the food is good. I have never gotten sick from the food here, but my step mom has. I will continue to come here regardless of the not so good neighborhood, poor service, dirty bathrooms , and food handlers violations. Why you ask ?! This place is a simple Mongolian BbQ joint. Ive seen places as susch with wider selections but everything here was fresh to say the least. Sauces include instructions for acquiring a particular taste and theres a choice of lamb, beef, pork, and turkey for meats. Sauces seem watered down so use more than recommended. Use the smaller pieces of veggies. Larger pieces tend to not cook throughout the way i prefer. The chef does a good job cooking everything thoroughly, not overcooking. My food was a little bland but tasteful esp after i added soy an sihracha. Next time ill use more sauces. Service was dry but tolerable. Price was great. $9 for dish, rice, egg roll, sesame bread, soup, and chow mein sticks, Jasmine tea. That and freshness is why ill recommend this place. Can be cleaner though. read more
