1 meat plate w brisket, bbq beans and mac n cheese side
    Stephanie C.

Went back up to big bear, but came here to stick up on groceries and BBQ! This time I got the rib and brisket combo. Choice of beef or pork rib. I got the beef! The brisket we already know is melt in your mouth, but that rib!!! The beef rib was nice n fatty. I love the fat!! The BBQ baked potato is next on my list!

I decided to give Hoodidya, the BBQ spot outside of Ranch Market, a try for a family pool night, and what I found was mixed feelings. The good: the chicken was my favorite. Unlike so many other places, it was perfectly juicy and not at all dry. Paired with their incredible vinegar-based BBQ sauce--a true Southern-style departure from the usual Western ketchup-based sauces--it was the winner. The barbecue beans were also solid; a classic side. Nothing different to note on customer service. Items that fell short: The brisket, which I'd heard was a highlight, was unfortunately a major letdown. It was soggy, like earm, and excessively fatty, tasting as if it had been sitting too long. Similarly, the rib tips lacked that great, smoky tender BBQ taste I was hoping for. Ultimately, my experience with Hoodidya was too mixed for me to recommend it. While the chicken and sauce were fantastic, the overall quality of the brisket and rib tips were questionable.

While listed as "Redlands Texas BBQ" on their Yelp page their sign says "Hoodidya", see my pic. I asked the cashier how to pronounce their name and she said it was like the phrase ""Who did ya" get that BBQ from?": get it? This is a takeaway restaurant only: no indoor or outdoor seating. The ordering went smoothly and staff was friendly, but it took surprisingly long to get my food. I have pics of their menu boards. We ordered their brisket and pulled pork, see my pics. As you can see in my pulled pork pic, the pork was a bit stringy and had long strands. I can't recall ever having the rub sprinkled on the pulled pork before service. The fresh rub made the pulled pork chew a bit grainy. The rub was fine and had a nice touch of sweet and heat. When you check out my brisket pic, you'll see the nice fat cap, rub and smoke ring. This was definitely the better of the two meats we had. There was good amount of smoke aroma and flavor (which was a good thing). The fat cap was appropriate for adding flavor and richness. We received 2 small containers of their BBQ sauce. It had a pronounced flavor of ketchup with a tang of vinegar.

A rib tip plate full of NOPE and THUMBS DOWN!

If you're looking for tender, flavorful, real smoked barbecue, look elsewhere, cause you won't find it here. But if you're looking for a plate of barbecued chew toys, look no further, this is your spot. I ordered the rib tip plate and the ribs tasted like nothing, like no seasoning at all and were tough. It also didn't taste like a smoked flavor, tasted like it was cooked in the oven. The Mac n cheese was mushy and the cole slaw, was the best tasting thing on the plate. The plates are supposed to come with 5oz of barbecue sauce, but my plate didn't have any sauce, so I had to ask for some. I was handed a container of ice cold sauce Like why would I want ice cold sauce, with my warm barbeque?!?! Not to mention, he ran inside the store to grab a squeeze bottle of sauce. No telling how many other people didn't have sauce on their plates either. The banana pudding was terrible! Thin in consistency and lacked flavor as well. There were Biscoff cookies crushed and sprinkled on top, and bananas mixed in, but that still didn't help the flavor. Please stop embarrassing Texas by saying this is "Texas Style" barbecue, cause no it's not! Customer service was good though!

My partner and I found this place on a random search to find a barbecue spot that wasn't a chain. We were so supremely to find this place there was no mention of it other than a random Google search. This barbecue spot is in a cozy spot as part of the Redlands Ranch Market, and the staff have been incredibly friendly. Although the sides are average, their meat is absolutely fantastic. Their brisket is so tender and juicy, and their pulled pork isn't dry at all.

2 Meat Combo with Brisket and Pulled Pork.

2 Meat Combo was absolutely delicious. The portions are huge, and I had to split it in half and still felt full (maybe 1/3s ). Honestly I prefer Ranch to Cornerstone. The story behind the BBQ and what they are producing is great.

The young man who took our order was very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and clearly made with care. While the prices felt slightly high for a walk-up window setup, the quality definitely delivered on flavor. They also offer weekly specials, which is a nice touch and gives you a reason to come back and try something new. Overall, a great experience and we'll be back.

Enjoyed a big sliced brisket sandwich today for lunch. The sauce was on the side. Very tender and juicy. Great food.

Delicious food, enjoyed the Mac and cheese bowl with brisket and their sweet tea. Easy to walk up and order.

The brisket sandwich is tender, flavorful and meaty. First time here and was pleasantly surprised how good the beef was. Dare I say it was better than Lucille's. This is now my go to for bbq craving!

Smoked Turkey, Pulled Chicken w/ White Sauce and double fries because they were out of Mac N Cheese.

Three times I have been here, and every time was a disappointment. Every time they have been OUT of Potatoes, Even though they advertise their specialty potatoes, if you have a special going on or a new product, you should have adequate amount of said product. First 2 times we chalked it up to them just opening as a New Restaurant, so we thought they needed time to get it together. Sadly this last time we learned that No, they did NOT get it together. We even tried coming earlier thinking that would do the trick- Nope. I Frequent the Ranch Market and was so excited for this BBQ place to open but if you can't have simple things like Potatoes, Mac N Cheese, & Coleslaw at 5:30 on a weeknight for families that are looking to pick up a meal, then there's something Wrong with the execution. I cannot take another chance on this place, I'd rather drive 2 cities over to Spirit of Texas. Also the Turkey was Dry and they don't offer any bbq sauce, or put it in the bag, You have to ASK for it.

There was also plenty of parking and several seating options inside. We decided to order a little bit of everything so we could try as much of the menu as possible. We had the brisket, brisket burnt ends, rib tips, several sides, and both desserts. The brisket burnt ends were definitely my favorite. They were smoky, tender, and full of flavor. The brisket had a beautiful bark and was cooked perfectly, and the rib tips were just as good. I was honestly just as impressed with the sides. My favorites were the spicy mac and cheese and the potato salad. The potato salad was creamy and was the perfect thing to cool your mouth after eating the steamed jalapeños. The coleslaw and green beans were also really refreshing and balanced out all the rich barbecue. The biggest surprise for me was the sweet yams. It was so flavorful that it tasted like it had been slow-cooked in brown sugar and spices for hours. For dessert, I tried both the banana pudding and the peach cobbler. The banana pudding was the winner for me, but I also liked that the peach cobbler wasn't overly sweet. Even the cornbread was delicious. I ended up pairing it with the barbecue baked beans and was a great combo. Our total came to about $110 before tax and tip, but we ordered enough food to try a wide variety of meats, sides, and desserts, so I thought it was well worth it. Overall, there wasn't a single thing we ordered that I wouldn't get again. If you're looking for great Texas-style barbecue in the Inland Empire, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

The young woman slicing the meats was very nice when explaining their menu and how to order. I read plenty of reviews before coming here and many noted the sides were lacking but I thought the opposite! The beans were extremely rich and decadent, and the yams were soo tasty without being overly spicy.

Here's what we ordered: Gyro - no tomatoes ** meat was delicious, everything about the gyro was a hit and I've had my share to know what's good Chicken Shawarma sandwich - with everything ** my third daughter ordered this and really enjoyed it Egyptian Pizza - there's only like 3 choices, the guy there recommended the meat, veggies, and cheese. ** I'm not a fan of anything soggy foods because I'm that person that won't eat it right away. The pizza is a little bigger than a personal sized pizza you would get from Pizza hut, but in the form of a calzone cut in 4. It's a little on the greasy end, my first and fourth daughter said it was just okay. Turkey Sandwich - w/no lettuce or tomatoes ** Again, I don't like soggy foods, so ordering this sandwich was a treat for lunch the next day. Sandwich is good, cheese is too thick for me, I tried reheating it during lunch, but the cheese refused to melt...so there's that! Baklava - Ordered a lot because who doesn't like baklava? I will however, suggest that you get the baklava tray in the actual market, it comes with a variety of flavors and it's only $11.99 (wish I had gotten a pic, but here we are)! Overall, I would recommend this spot to others curious about Egyptian food, it's similar to Mediterranean and worth the try. We would most likely return for the Gyro and Chicken Shawarma sandwiches. Oh and we also checked out the juice bar, the drinks were good too!

I ordered a chicken sandwich with the slaw to go. I had to pull over because I couldn't even hold onto it while driving. It was big and sloppy and I didn't even think I could fit it all in my mouth. Having lived in Texas for many many years and eating barbecue all over the state from popular Michelin star places to Mom and Pop hole in the wall places to food trucks I know what the good barbecue taste like. We decided on a large platter because this was our first time to the restaurant and we wanted to get it taste of everything. We opted for brisket, ribs, chicken and swapped out the pulled pork for jalapeno sausage. This included 4 side dishes and honestly I know they're just sides but it definitely wasn't enough for four adults to enjoy. The large platter says it easily feeds six to eight people but the sides definitely only feed three. The brisket was good compared to California standards. It was moist, flavorful, and cooked just right but lacked a great smoky taste. The loaded fries were another standout. They were absolutely delicious, and the rich cheese sauce paired with the added jalapeños made them even better. Those were easily my favorite items on the menu. Unfortunately, the ribs were inconsistent. Some bites were tender, while others were extremely tough and difficult to eat. The food overall was also much greasier than expected, which took away from the enjoyment of the meal. The service left a lot to be desired. We had to keep asking for basic items throughout our visit, and our drinks didn't arrive until we had asked twice. Having to repeatedly remind the staff for things that should have come automatically made the experience frustrating. The seating arrangement was another disappointment. Our party of four was squeezed around a tiny table, even though there were larger tables available. To make matters worse, a group of six was seated at a three-top table directly behind us, blocking the aisle. People were constantly trying to squeeze between the tables, making the dining area feel cramped and uncomfortable. Considering the price, I expected much better. The portions didn't justify the cost, especially when combined with the inconsistent food quality and service issues. While the brisket and loaded fries were excellent, the tough ribs, greasy food, cramped seating, repeated service problems, and high prices made this a disappointing overall experience. I hope Cornerstone BBQ improves these areas because the restaurant has the potential to be much better.
