Lunch is one of the best values in the IE! I would've given it 5 stars if not for the cafeteria-style feel but you don't go there for a 5-star ambiance, you go for the food! Me, it's a great bargain for Japanese food. One plate of the Japanese items exceeds the price of the lunch. (Being seniors, we take $1 off the $18.99 lunch price). Have a mix of chinese and "American" food, one of those on-demand grills, plenty of choices. Of course unlimited drinks but I only get water since I don't want to fill up on drinks. Plenty of seating, clean, the staff clear out used plates quickly. Keep the dishes re-stocked quickly. See the pics for all the food offered. Buffet Star sits right around a solid 3.5 stars for me. It's honestly not bad for a buffet, and that's already saying something. They do offer a good variety of menu options. The sushi and sashimi were decent--no fishy smell, no slimy texture, which is always the bare minimum and thankfully passed. That said, not to be mean, but some Yelp reviews calling this "FRESH SUSHI" and handing out 5 stars clearly have never tried truly fresh, great seafood. This is buffet-level fresh, and that's okay--just keep expectations realistic. If you're a crab leg fan, those were also decent and not overly salty like some other buffets I've been to. One thing to note: weekends get insanely crowded, so be prepared for that. That said, during our visit, the servers were actually attentive. The plates cleared quickly and drinks refilled without having to hunt anyone down. Overall, it was a satisfying experience, I left full, and most importantly... no food poisoning . After grinding through a hard 3 hour workout, the only logical next step was to immediately cancel it out w a buffet!!! Buffet Star didn't exactly sound like a five-star life choice (and Yelp's 3 stars tried to hinder me from eating here), but plot twist..... it was way better than expected!!!!! The sushi made my husband and son happy little sea creatures, the Mongolian grill slapped, and the chicken wings were jumbo sized and fire!! But the real MVP? Chicken pot stickers!!!!! I've never seen chicken pot stickers at a buffet (bc they're 99% always pork pot stickers). Fried rice, noodles, seafood galore..... basically, carbs and ocean things everywhere!!! Food was fresh, they kept replenishing the food due to the amount of traffic flowing through. Been here a few times. Good service. Can be a little noisy when packed and is expected. Got my Mongolian style meat and veggies. Just onion and mushroom on beef, chicken and shrimp. Beef was tough but sauce made flavorful and still enjoyable. Some lobster pieces were tough and dry the first try. Got seconds when they put out new a new batch. Better but too much sticky coating and can't taste full flavor of lobster. Rest of what I tried were ok. Best part for me was the fruits. I got rambutan, papaya. Raspberry and pineapple. As provided on one of the pictures, when we arrived. The crab legs were really thin, and somewhat dry. We came on the weekend, which was somewhat busy. To my surprise, even though it was busy, it wasn't really noisy like some other places. That was great. The problem was that the ladies who would pick the plates and provide refills, I needed to keep trying to get their attention. They would group up to chat among themselves. Now The food is room temperature if you're lucky enough to where they pull out the food fresh then it's warm and hot and taste good they have quite a variety the sushi. I wasn't brave enough to try all of it I stuck with California rolls. It wasn't cold, but it was cool And then they had a Mongolian barbecue grill that was probably the freshest because it's cooked right there in front of you. I browse through the food station , before deciding on what to grab. Noticed the cook to order noodle bar had quite a selection. Dessert section has self serve ice cream machine and cubby of disarray of pastries scattered about . I opted to try the tofu and black mushrooms fungus stir fry and string beans with garlic I think . Well the tofu stir fry had a sliver of plastic sting and my beans were too mushy to enjoy . The soups selections were delicious and the fish dish I liked Sadly the fruits selections were a miss for me , saw a fly relaxing on the pineapple slices, I Had to skip that . Sushi is great! I love to go there and take it to go! Everyone is willing to provide great service! The sitting area is a bit to crowded for me personally and a tad bit overwhelming being shoulder to shoulder to some customers cause of how close the tables are. And of the options available to me, the quality of the food was below average compared to other Asian restaurants. They also have very limited vegetarian options. They placed shellfish next to vegetarian dishes which I think is a health hazard for those with allergies. ive been going to this place for years and truthfully, its really saddening to watch the quality go down as time goes by. the food is not exactly tasty, but if you're just looking for something to fill you up, then it's okay. however, this time in particular, i had some sushi and was left feeling a little nauseous to the point where i stopped eating a little earlier than the rest of my family. additionally, the service is not so good. sometimes, the place seems understaffed, other days it seems like its barely enough employees to get things going. at least whenever we come by, we tend to get seated quickly and everyone is pretty kind overall. as for the restaurant itself, it looks very worn and not well cleaned. our table had a few food scraps left on it after an employee wiped it down before seating us, so we had to clean it ourselves since she left so quickly. lastly, the bathrooms in the restaurant also aren't well kept, so make sure to bring hand sanitizer of some kind with you as well. you can find better buffets out there, but if you just want something filling and you don't care too much about taste/how the restaurant looks, then this is your spot read more

They say if you've been to every AYCE Chinese buffet, you've been to them all. A grain of truth in that since there are a lot of commonalities that you see in them - common dishes like chicken wings, that saucy beef thing, General Tso's chicken, etc. etc. Not to mention that it's probably an open secret that the vast majority of restaurants in America, especially buffets, source their raw materials from the same place (the beauty of Sysco). Yet, several things stand out here. First, the foot traffic is always good (figurative, everyone drives here) and so the food is typically switched in and out at a pretty good rate - it's usually reasonably hot and fresh, which is one of the major determinants of food quality at a buffet like this (since everyone really sources the same ingredients). Second, they actually have a lot of unique dishes, like kim-chi style mini octopuses, a full sushi bar (with perfectly serviceable sushi, which is actually pretty impressive given the low cost and AYCE nature), and their own all-you-can-eat Mongolian BBQ. All of these are fantastic and really lets you spice up your meal. My parents make sure to eat a meal here basically literally every time they're in town, which is probably a good sign given that they grew up in China. Value of course, is excellent. Only downside I'd say is that the fountain drink is in the back, so you need to flag down a waiter in order to get a refill, which is usually slower than just getting a refill yourself. Overall, if you're looking for an AYCE Chinese buffet, this is definitely one of the best options in the region. It comes highly recommended for its value and diversity in food. read more

Pretty impressive buffet. They cleared our plates and got our soda refills pretty quickly. no wait to get in and the selection was pretty good. The seats are pretty close together of you sit in the middle so we asked for a booth and that was great. Highlights include the beef jerky type meat, the crabs, the shrimp they cut in half and put cream sauce on and the Galbi short ribs you can have cooked at the grill. For the dessert, their ice cream is delicious and I know it's weird but I enjoyed eating it with the almond cookie. Will be back again if in the area.
